Gov. Tom Corbett said Wednesday he knew that The Second Mile’s founder, Jerry Sandusky, was gone from the organization when the grant was approved earlier this year. Corbett, who said the funds were being withheld in light of the growing scandal, defended the decision to approve the grant while knowing about the allegations against Sandusky....

The epitome of Crony Capitalism.
When Mom said eat your vegetables, she wasn't talking about pizza sauce. But Congress ain't Mom.
If you're surprised by Congress' move, check out this recent "60 Minutes" interview with former lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Will Jack Abramoff become one of the best educators of the American electorate? One can only hope he can actually perform a public service that changes the seats in Congress to productive members interested in Americans and not money.Thursday, November 17, 2011
Why is it that when there is notable gun violence in the USA, Glen Beck's name turns up?
On November 11, 2011 at 11:11:11 AM Glen Beck was 'on the air' at Rush Radio and whipping up the frenzy with his audience. I heard the wacko on the air laughing and joking as if he was innocent of the actions of a madman.
Why is it that the Arizona assassin was a Right Wing Wacko that found his validity for violence in extremist rants identical to those of Becks'.
I don't care if these people are deranged with mental illness, it only speaks to the abilities of Mr. Beck and his programming.
More than odd. More than very, very odd. More than coincidence.
...On the face of it, (click here) The War of the Worlds should have had no greater effect on the listening public than the previous broadcasts, which is to say, none at all, but Welles and his writer Howard Koch were planning something special this particular night, and though it is a matter of considerable debate if they actually intended to create the subsequent uproar and near panic, it was undoubtedly their very novel dramatic device that did much of the damage....
Interestingly, I have to reach back decades to find such a horrific program that defines irresponsible radio broadcasts, but, The Mercury Theater had a history of creating terror. But, then again, so does Beck. The Mercury Theater changed the story to Grover's Mills, New Jersey rather than maintaining it in a country across the ocean. There is responsible media and their is completely careless media. I do believe I have made myself clear in regard to Beck.

When I blame Republicans, especially North Carolina Republicans, for a child's death due to the Climate Crisis; I mean it beyond any imagination otherwise.
I gave verbal testimony at The Clean Air Act's New Source Review in April 2003. I gave that testimony in Raleigh, North Carolina.
I gave written testimony to The Clean Air Act's New Source Review less than a month later on May 1, 2003.
I never said or wrote anything in my life I meant more. My sons are older now. My youngest son is 30 years old. He has three beautiful children ages 10 months, 2 and a half years and five years old. Two beautiful girls and a handsome and very bright little boy. They are my angels and they live up to the name everyday. They are wonderful children and my son a wonderful man and a wonderful dad.
I witnessed the manifestation of the first two tropospheric vortexes on October 4, 2002 on satellites of the northern Pacific and Atlantic. About three hours later after I had documented what I saw and reviewed the newspapers to find any lower atmospheric repercussions (ground level) I read an article from a scientist in Antarctica. That scientist had reported that same day that "C Zero," an ice river, had reversed course as it never had before. I knew that Earth was going through huge shifts in climate even then.
I haven't stopped writing, advocating or acting to bring about change to our state and our country to stop the insanity of using fossil fuels to power our economy that would suredly cause demise of life and liberty for so many and possibly turn Earth's troposphere into a hostile environment for life.
I have been seeking answers to the hideous objections to the geoscience of Human Induced Global Warming, now described better as the Climate Crisis, for longer than October 4, 2002. It was that pursuit that allowed me to witness the events of that day.
In November of 2002 there were no tornadoes.
When I witness the death of a three year old child that could have been averted if state and federal legislators acted to stop this insane economy of crony politics pandering to fossil fuels rather than energies of the future; I will NEVER remain silent. I take my role in this disaster seriously, it would be better if everyone else did as well.
I wil be at the end of a computer tomorrow and for as long as it takes until the idiots of government are either gone or have reformed their immoral value system. Virginia Foxx may be famous in her district for extremist values of the anti-abortionists, but, she does not value the life of a child and today is PROOF.
...And last but never least; (click title to entry - thank you) I am a mother of two young men, ages 22 and 24 whom I wish to return hope to their lives of an Earth full of life and longevity....

Republicans are killing jobs AGAIN !
For every job lost, the smaller the tax base for the nation. The Republicans are Anti-American. They don't care about the future of our country, they only care about their cronies. In this case, the petroleum industry is at the heart of the jobloss!
Harkin doesn’t want passenger rail funding cut (click title to entry - thank you)
November 17, 2011
By Matt Kelley
Some Republicans in Congress are claiming they’ve killed the expensive high-speed rail program President Obama had been pushing to establish. If funding for the proposed multi-billion dollar rail transportation program has been eliminated, Iowa Senator and Democrat Tom Harkin says it would be a real shame.
“I have long advocated, for at least the last 30 years, that we need to develop high-speed rail in America,” Harkin says. “Having ridden on high-speed trains when I was in the military stationed in Japan, they had a train that went 150 miles an hour and that was back in the ’60s.”
Reports say Republicans want to derail the program because it’s too expensive. Harkin hadn’t heard that they succeeded. “I don’t know what the recent reports are on killing high-speed rail,” Harkin says. “I don’t think we’re going to cut that, at least I hope not.”
The president requested $8-billion for the rail program in fiscal year 2012 and a total of $53-billion over six years. The Republican-led U.S. House is set to vote today on a spending measure which reportedly stripped all funding to the high-speed rail program. It should go to the Senate Friday....
Oh, some say there is no cronyism of Republicans with the petroleum industry. Really? Allow me.

Americans need to realize that Republicans have no ideas, they have no 'future vision' for the nation and they are more than willing to open up the Middle Class to higher and higher petroleum costs to their budget as time goes on.
That doesn't even begin to address the Climate Crisis and the very real dangers affiliated with it. Yesterday, in the middle of November, tornadoes racked the Southeast. NORMALLY, tornado season in the area of the nation is SPRING, not autumn with winter five weeks away.
Six people died in the southeast USA yesterday. Millions if not billions of dollars in damage and disrupted lives occurred.
Why?
A three year old child is dead today. A three year old child's death due to a CLIMATE CHANGE tornado should make an impression on people and our political leaders.
Why, isn't it making an impression on Republicans that represent these states in Congress?
A three year old North Carolinian child means nothing to Senator Burr, House Representative Renee Ellmers, Walter Jones, Virginia Foxx, Howard Coble and Patrick McHenry.
The scientists in North Carolina are among the most presitious in the world from Duke, NC State and UNCW, just to name a few. They have educated the State Legislature about the Climate Crisis. Under the previous Democratic Governor there were strides made in recognition of this climate danger, yet, the Republicans from North Carolina in the Federal Government can't seem to get their minds around this reality.
A three year old child is dead today because of the Climate Crisis and Republicans in the federal government are pandering to the petroleum industry.
Family members say 50-year-old Janice Shaw and her 3-year-old granddaughter Azlyn Shaw died from injuries related to the storm. The Shaws lived on Meadow Run Lane, near Burkhart Road.
The National Weather Service said the tornado is at least an "upper end" EF2 with winds around 130 mph. The path of the storm is estimated to be 8 miles long and 200 yards wide....

The current report is a young man was 'clubbed' by police causing an injury to his head that resulted in bleeding. The protesters have video of the blood spots on the ground as to where it happened.
There are reports of police being injured with a liquid substance; up to four officers. That is not a good thing. The incidents where injury occurs on either side causes escalation of fear of each other and results in greater force being applied to oppose each other. That is a 'impetus' to increasing dangerous behaviors. I do not approve of either the police or the protesters using injurious force against each other. Next thing that happens are guns, etc., and they we are off to the races.
There cannot be escalation by either side. The protesters are sincerely upset by the blood on the pavement. NO retaliation by either side. There are no enemies here, there is however justice being sought by protesters that are witnessing an entire generation unemployed.
No eacalation of fear of each other and no retaliation. None. Justice must prevail, not violence.
How many City Cops have their young adult children unemployed? The number is not zero. They know.

President Obama needs to remind Indonesia how loved their country's preservation efforts are by many in the USA.
...The five cat species (click title to entry - thank you) documented in the forest corridor represent a wide-range of threat levels according to the IUCN Red List: the Sumatran tiger (Critically Endangered), the Sunda clouded leopard (Endangered), the marbled cat (Vulnerable), the Asian golden cat (Near Threatened), and the leopard cat (Least Concern).
"Four of these species [leaving out the leopard cat] are protected by Indonesian Government regulations," said Karmila Parakkasi, coordinator of the WWF-Indonesia Tiger Research Team. "This underscores the rich biodiversity of the Bukit Tigapuluh landscape and the forest corridors that connect to it. These amazing cat photos also remind us of how much we could lose as more of these fragile forests are lost."
While five cat species in one forest is hugely notable, the largest number of cat species recorded in a single habitat is seven from a forest in India that recently gained protection.
Bayunanda says the presence of these cats should make the Indonesian government act to save the forest....

The alternative energy company Solyndra and their troubles are not a 'Big Deal.'
The fact of the matter is the SUBSIDIES paid to oil companies could be stopped and used to FUND the Alternative Energy Loan Program.
Alternative Energy Programs have to be politically protected. The Office of the President was absolutlely correct in delaying the vicious attacks of the Political "Petroleum Industry Bought and Sold" Right Wing of the USA.
Programs that involve alternative energy technologies have been UNDERFUNDED for decades in favor of dangerous petroleum industry technologies such as oil sands extraction and hydraulic fracturing.
The Democrats are usuall the party of CONSCIENCE when it comes to issue of the environment and cutting edge technology development, so what is the problem with defending the DOE and their policies with Solyndra. Dr. Chu is not political hack or a stupid man that plays with fire. Quite the contrary, he is attempting to faciliate decades of abuse of Republican administrations to an industry direly needed in the USA.
I have said this before and I'll say it again over and over and over, the alternative energy industry requires FOSTERING and any failure of the industry to prosper and thrive needs investigation and legislative intervention to provide the foothold it needs to develop American Made Energy that does not POLLUTE and endanger the environment.
Get over it!!!!!!!!!!! Is everyone a complete coward regarding WHAT IS BEST FOR THE USA?
The Alternative !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean really now. Reagan had the Super Collider and Bush had Yucca. Huh?
Isn't it time the USA Senate and House stop wasting valuable time and money on technologies that simply aren't healthy for the American people and make the correct and best investments?

The States in increasing number require our Seniors to retest in order to maintain their driver's license, hence Photo ID.
There needs to be federal legislation to begin to REQUIRE those Social Security recipients that have no photo ID or have been refused Driver's License to carry Social Security Cards with Photo ID.
The Social Security Administration goes through great length to serve our Seniors. They even make House Calls to assist in issues pertaining to benefits. I don't know why a positive ID in this age of voter suppression and identity theft can't be provided to Social Security Recipients that have no other method of identification. Times are changing and the Social Security Administration has to change with them. Their Social Workers could easy carry digital cameras, without any fancy back drop, to any recipient that has lost their driver's license and has no other method of proof of ID.
The States on the other hand, should extend ID priviledges to any former Driver License holder in providing a Photo ID at the time of retesting regardless of success of the Senior in maintaining their priviledge to drive. The Photo ID should be issued at the very same day of their testing.

Most of the folks within the INSTITUTION of Wall Street carry weapons. The protesters DON'T.
The National Rifle Association-backed measure had the backing of the vast majority of Republicans along with a coalition of pro-gun rights Democrats.
A matching bill has not been brought forward in the Democrat-led Senate. But gun rights advocates have previously nearly-successfully attempted to attach a similar measure to unrelated legislation.

Occupy Wall Street hits 2-month mark, launches 'day of action' (click title to entry - thank you)
November 17, 2011 | 5:40 am
REPORTING FROM NEW YORK -- Occupy Wall Street vowed to mark the two-month anniversary of its protests with a "day of action" today, beginning with a march to the heart of the financial district -- the New York Stock Exchange -- that drew hundreds of chanting, sign-waving supporters to lower Manhattan.
By 8 a.m., demonstrators had gathered near Zuccotti Park, their former encampment, chanting "All day, all week, Occupy Wall Street!" as they prepared to march the few blocks to the stock exchange. Later, they vowed to occupy about 16 subway stations before carrying their protest to Foley Square outside Manhattan's courthouses.
But scores of police blanketed the area near Zuccotti Park, setting the scene for possible clashes similar to those that have led to hundreds of arrests in past demonstrations. Tensions were especially high in the wake of Tuesday morning's surprise police raid of Zuccotti Park, which dismantled Occupy Wall Street's 2-month-old tent city there. A judge has ruled the city had the right to prevent marchers from camping there, forcing protesters to spend their nights elsewhere.
Kristin Gardner, 46, a former teacher, carried a sign that read "40,000 in student loans where's my bailout." She said she didn't know what would become of the movement, but added, "I hope we make a statement to our government that changes the focus of what is important."...
Protesters can't afford concealed carry weapons. They can't even afford the food and medical attention and medicine they need to maintain their health, yet alone concealed carry. For the 99% Pawn Shops are their best friend and they ain't purchasing.

Russia: Iran owes money on plant (click here)
Europe has more at stake, including Russia and China, than the USA in regard to nuclear weapons in Iran. The Iranian missile capacity is significant. The brevity of this group of nations should be obvious and will result in final analysis of the evidence regarding the THREAT of Iran's program.
Israel has an ongoing relationship with Russia and Europe. This is not a process that will likely fail.

Russia and China are opposing sanctions with Iran. Their opinion matters. The USA has a history now of being an aggressor nation in the Middle East. The fact there are other nuclear nations opposing the evidence of the IAEA and willing to back it up brings about a brevity that is a pre-cursor to a larger opposition of any aggressions of Israel and the USA. These circumstances are not a joke and Iran will not be another Iraq.
The EVIDENCE validation process and a joint dossier is important and carries far reaching implications that will cause the USA's Neocons to sit back on their hunches and realize they don't have carte blanc to invade or attack Iran.

Russia has lately proposed a strategy for “restoring trust in relation to Iran’s nuclear program based on principles of reciprocity and gradualism,” the source said.

How much quicker will this make our response time to tragedies such as the Christmas Tsunami and the Japanese Earthquake-Tsunami and nuclear plants disaster?
I am mostly pleased about this new relationship with Australia and ponder as to why it hasn't happened before now.
We could have helped immeasurably with the New Zealand earthquakes.
The scientific missions into Antarctica take place off the southern coast of New Zealand, too. We have many important and valuable people in the southern hemisphere. I find it odd there hasn't been more involvement before.continued...
I realize that China feels somewhat threatened, but, my concern is; WHY? Have we not been involved in peaceful initiatives with China from the beginning. I believe the paranoya of the USA with China and possibly Russia stems from faux sources. Not that the Neocons of the Bush Era are faux sources, but, for as misguided as that administration was under the dictatorship of Richard Cheney, the USA cannot completely be measured by the events that followed September 11, 2001.
I believe there is a great deal of HOPE FOR GLOBAL PEACE in the relationships the USA has with the other nuclear nations. And to measure this decision by the USA to stablize and strengthen its relationship with Australia as a means to Pacific domination, the Chinese and Russians needs to ask themselves if that is a realistic outcome. I think not. The people of the USA don't like war. Distain it actually. If I were the leaders of Russia and China I would make the most of that reality in relation to their concerns and possibly fears.
The Pacific nations also have to realize, this President has a special perspective on the Pacific region of Earth. He hails from Hawaii and was with his mother while she worked in Indonesia. I think the global community can give him some latitude in that understanding.

My personal view of the ever erupting scandal over the football program at Penn State is...
...for whatever it is worth and as bad as the circumstances appear, there is a lot to be told and outcomes still unknown.
In North Carolina there is the expression, "Coulda, shoulda, woulda." It seems appropriate here.
I'll tell you what is going to prevent any charges against Sandusky to stick; is the lack of physical evidence. If McQueary or anyone else, including parents, had taken the child(ren) to the police and demanded they be examined by the same people that conduct rape evaluations in Emergency Rooms, there might something indisputable to convict. But, right now, there is circumstantial evidence and the trial could go either way.
Also, there are real people involved in this that have made their lives from the Penn State sports department. One is a 83 or 84 year old man that should have retired years ago. His health should not be jeopardized and the gratitude still due him for long years of service cannot be ignored. He could lose everything and there is some sincere injustice in that.
Additionally, Sandusky himself may have an ego that will surpass the scrutiny of a trial, but, there is the chance he may not. McQueary is kicking himself over and over for what he could have done and didn't for whatever reason he didn't. And there are parents dissatisfied with their circumstances and worried about their young men. There is a lot going on, a lot of pressure on people. I sincerely would hate for the scandal to take on a life of its own and increase the tragedy. Seriously.

As far as the state grant for the charity, I think the organization should open up its books and allow complete disclosure of the program, its budget and spending. But, more than any of that, while important, the "Second Mile" needs to hire professionals to 'measure' the success of the program and prove its worthiness. There needs to be a success quotient proven for the program to continue and to receive further funding.
- Did the young people involved with this program show better school skills, join athletic programs at school, show increased roles in citizenship and are they ultimately on a path of academic success that would place them in the halls of Penn State propeled into a future they would not have achieved alone?
If indeed this organization has proven to be an empty cause and simply a place for sexual exploits of a pedophile then the program needs to be disbanded. That lack of quality will also weigh at trials as well.
If the Second Mile proves to be successful, then the funding should be continued and the program monitored and the young people revered. I haven't heard how this was a gender neutral program either. I would think any funding from the State of Pennsylvania has to include non-discimination provisions including gender neutral enrollment.

Food for thought and nothing more. The young people should not suffer because adults fumbled the ball.

The people pleaser.
"President Obama supported the unrest..."
Don't dismiss that statement. That is a policy statement. The 'sane' press really does not understand what they are looking at, huh?
Then (Mc)Cain goes on to say, "...Oh, that was the other one..." That reference, of course, is Egypt. Cain is no different than Bachmann in that he stands with the people that believe Egypt is being handed over to The Muslim Brotherhood and spells disaster for the USA and Israel. The Right does not see Mubarak as a man that deserved to be removed from power. They believe standing by and allowing the Egyptian populous to actually have real elections is an atrocity to the foreign policy of the USA. I don't believe Cain thinks he made a mistake when he made that reference. This comments are a 'collection' of positions that can be sliced and diced for corrupt Rovian commercial bombs.
The pause and eye rolling is simply 'being human' of course. Being human in front of the "Lame Stream Media" is expected.
Republicans are not brave people. They are scared to their skivvies and why they hold on to their ideologies to their dying day. Those ideologies are based in control of elements of life and therefore are the only tried and true methods of happiness. Not peace, mind you. Peace is a compromise Republicans do not relish. Republicans want control and hate everything they don't control.
NEOTENY. The lack of neoteny is the profound fear of the Republicans. Anything NOT of themselves is enemy.
Cain goes on to state he would listen to all the advisors to get ALL the facts of which President Obama did not, of course. Somehow in all this, Cain believes there is 'a way' in the global community to overpower any entity of government to exploit that country's resources to pay for 'the simple exercise' of riding Libya of Gaddafi. The USA is all powerful, all knowing and all of perfection the world can witness in humble appreciation of its greatness.
Rupublicans disavow any interest in sexual exploits by their favorate sons. They always will. The Democrats have been targets of smear campaigns for decade after decade. How much of the Democratic Brain Trust has been shot down by sex scandals while Republicans sufvive the scandals like water off a duck's back.
When the Lewinski scandal was exploited, the Red States didn't say shame, shame; they said "How do we nail him on impeachment?" I didn't matter the President was of moral character or not; heck men bonded with him with an interest in his activiites. When will the Democrats finally get their minds around this mess? The 'moral' content of the Republican Party is ABSENT. Their only focus in how they can manipulate the system to 'GET WHAT THEY WANT.' Ruthless and amoral. As long as it delivers their 'idea of fun' they don't care about morality and they never will.
Besides, the more inept the candidate, the more the Plutocrats love it. After all, they are so very, very needed to HELP in steering the ship on the 'Path of Profit.'
Give me a break, already.
The :"Gloved One's" Defense. Will Sandusky show up in court in pajamas?
...In a telephone (click title to entry - thank you) interview Monday night on NBC News' "Rock Center," Bob Costas asked Jerry Sandusky if he's a pedophile and Sandusky responded, "No."...
He claims he is innocent. Sounds familiar. Any other evidence regarding pedophilia with "Good Ole Jer?"
Paraphanalia, child porn at his home, in his locker at the university, in his office or at his 'cubby' at "The Second Mile?"
This conviction might not be as straight forward as everyone expects. It will far less expensive for the university to pay off on lawsuits from two dismissed coaches and a university President than all the parents and children that claim they have been raped, molested or otherwise by Sandusky.
I take it that McQueary Is valued as the hero in this sitution as most have expected? Interesting.
It is his first confiction, I take it.

Oh, one other thing.
I found it very distrubing to realize some of the "#Occupy Wall Street" protesters may have contracted multi-resistant tuberculosis at a New York City shelter when they took refuge from the cold.
Really?
Drug Resistant Tuberculosis airborne in New York City Homeless Shelters?
Well, there is nothing like being homeless and getting more than one bargained for.
AND...
The confiscation of tents and sleeping bags is FISCAL OPPRESSION of the protesters IF they are not returned to their rightful owners. This is something like the second time police have taken away tents and sleeping bags that provide protection and comfort. That is a financial loss to people that cannot afford the loss while asserting their First Amendment Rights. If Oakland and New York keep this up they'll simply use up the half million in donations. Soemthing the "#Occupy" movement cannot afford. THAT is financial oppression. Plain and simple. The tents and sleeping bags need to be returned to their owners without delay to insure their well being.
Now, until tomorrow.

The Cities decide they can ignore citizens First Amendment Rights.
The problem now as it has been during the entire history of this movement is finding SPACE to assert their First Amendment Rights to Assemble and express their objections to the loss of their rights. This is just more of the same.
Does Oakland and New York mayors have the same speech righter, because, both mayors stated to protestors in both cities on the same evening the exact same words.
"You can come back tomorrow, but, no overnight occupation is allowed."
Like, huh?
The oddly interesting 'tilts' on oppression across the country is interesting. In Wilmington, North Carolina the Occupiers were told they could not set up their tents on the lawn. So, they set up their tents on the sidewalks and hold their General Assembly everyday on the lawn. The "Occupy Wilmington" protesters have received their 501(c)(3) today so they can accept donations for needs of their members.
The problem facing New York City is especially interesting, because, Occupy Wall Street HAD to find a private park in order to carry out their First Amendment Rights. There were NO, as in NONE, public parks in the area the protesters wanted to assert their rights, which happened to be exactly the geographic place where the worst grievances were propagated. Why is that a problem at all? Well, if a citizen / citizens' group cannot FIND a suitable place for their expression of their First Amendment Rights because all the land is privately owned, then in fact that oppression of the Plutocrats is 'sealed' and unchallengable. There HAS TO BE places for aggreived citizens to assemble, express their protests and simply asset their rights to be heard.
If every place that would bring attention to citizen's grievances were privately owned then the oppression of citizens is complete and the USA Constitution has been disregarded by those elected to office that never recognized the necessity of the free expression of those rights in the first place.
Additionally, we have heard Republicans state over and over and over again, even the Heritage Foundation, how important "The Public Square" is and how important it is to be robust including displays on the public square of religious symbols during the holiday season. Yet, in the mostly densely Plutocratic section of New York City there is absolutely no public square to be found.
I remember very clearly how the "Public Square" was vital to the nominee Alito during his Senate confirmation hearings. The Nominee Alito stated he strongly supported a ROBUST (that was his words) Public Square of free expression.
So, it would seem as though, CASE CLOSED. New York City and Oakland are in violation of the Frist Amerndment Rights of "#Occupy" simultaneously. Odd. Very odd, indeed.
Until tomorrow.
Protesters will likely appeal ruling (click title to entry - thank you)
The Supreme Court indulges the Eleventh Circuits attack on Moral Protection of Citizens.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act at The Labor Department (click here)
The Right Wing of the Court and 'The Party' have absolutely no decorum, decency or morality governing their overt partisanship. They disrespect the Supreme Court by never assigning their behavior as a matter of brevity.
The Right Wing Media chronically sounds as though the sky is falling and now they simply have no control over the opportunity this could make to reverse "The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act." An over reaction is not known to the Right Wing Media, it is simply there chronic "Nervous Nelly" state.
The date for the hearing by the Court hasn't even been set yet, but the battle for political domination is being carried out as if there is actually a chance this is the doom and gloom for the Democrats of 2012. It isn't. It won't be. The hearing is to take place in March, there are three topics being considered and NONE involve the Medicare provisions of "The Patient Prtoection and Affordable Care Act." NONE. The Medicare provisions stand.
The three provisions of The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that will be reviewed by the Court; which is to take oral arguments on all there provisons on the same day and time requiring extended periods of time; are the individual mandate, whether an individual mandate will end the entire bill and whether there is coersion of the States by the mandate regarding the EXPANSION of Medicare.
The individual mandate has a long history in the USA including automobile insurance and The Sixteenth Amendment that requires all Americans to pay taxes. If the Sixteenth Amendment isn't an individual mandate than I don't know what is. The Sixteenth Amendment requries every American to assess their payment of taxes to the federal government without exception. So, like, what's the problem?
The individual mandate does not sink the entire law invoked about two years previous ot the proposed hearing date by the Supreme Court. The Medicare provision alone is a deficit reducing measure that also insures the continuous care of citizens without private failings causing a bailout of companies or a hardship to participants.
As far as the coerson goes that is pure, unadultered nonsense. The States are subject to federal laws and regulations across the board when it comes to commerce and the lives of citizens. The entire President's Cabinet exists to provide services to States including education, health, transportation, infrastructure, and the list goes on. If there is coersion of The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act then the entire federal government is guilty of same.
The review of this bill is nothing more than HIGH PROFILE political horseplay and nothing more. It has been horseplay throughout the Ninth Circuit and the State Attorney Generals that have thrown in with it.
The Los Angeles Times is reporting (click title to entry - thank you) that just hours after the United States Supreme Court huddled to decide whether it would take up the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas were honored at a dinner sponsored by the very law firm that will argue for the challengers in the case.
Among the sponsors of the fundraiser for the Federalist Society, a conservative group long favored by Scalia and Thomas, were Bancroft PLLC, the law firm that will argue that the insurance mandate provisions of the ACA is an overreach of Congress’ powers under the Commerce Clause of the Constitution and, therefore, unconstitutional. Also listed as an event sponsor was law firm Jones Day, the lead counsel in a separate case challenging the law brought by the National Federation of Independent Business....

Conservative's Flagchip Plutocratic Allegience is leaving the USA without a moral compass.
There is no reason for Leon to grant this delay. The tobacco industry has already adapted labeling in other countries, the labeling has proven to work to bring realism to the outcomes of the use of tobacco. There are lives at risk and the tobacco industry knows full well if a person is smoking regularly at the age of 19, they will probably continue well into adulthood.
This is a amoral stalling tactic by Leon in hopes there is a huge wind change in 2012 and the legislation will be recended. He is an amoral judge that favors money over life and he should be impeached. This is the worst decision a judge could have made and it directly threatens the wellness and health of Americans.
The 30 year reign of Republicans has tainted the courts and this is only one example.
...In granting tobacco companies a delay in complying with a government order to put graphic anti-smoking images on cigarette packs, Federal District Court Judge Richard Leon sought mightily to make a case for industry. His problem -- industry doesn't have a case. Decades of deceptive advertising and incriminating medical research have taught us that....

President Obama needs a PR Campaign instilling his accomplishments to the electorate.
I have been doing some canvasing in Wilmington, North Carolina this week and I have stumbled upon an outrageous reality; the Republican obstructionism and their propaganda campaign have instilled understanding that President Obama has not delivered on any (NOT A ONE) of his campaign promises.
These are people that voted for President Obama in 2008. I gently remind them of all the promises he did keep and they state, "Oh, that's right."
The President's accomplishments in office are not fresh in the memories of the electorate and they are seeking an alternative, even Herman (Mc)Cain.
The President's campaign needs to remind everyone of the incredible successes he has had both on his campaign promises and otherwise. The frustration the RNC has been pumping through the electorate is having an effect. I believe the President's Approval Rating is a strong reflection of that.
Until tomorrow.
