Old cargo containers have always been coveted for all kinds of purposes.

It would seem as though the students at The University of North Florida have at least one more use for them.

Temporary living areas for the Hurricane Zone of the Caribbean, including Haiti.

...They spent hours planning it, (click title to entry - thank you) then took more than 110 hours to scrape and grind the rust away. They painted it with anti-corrosive and heat-insulated paint, which keeps the inside cool in hot temperatures.

"It's really a productive class, we are learning a lot more than training in a classroom," says UNF senior Jake Seaton.

They also added windows and wood paneling outside; they plan to add solar panels to power the unit....
