Kentucky needs a Special Prosecutor. As if the USA doesn't have enough to do when it comes to corruption and rebellion.

The USA has a problem list that needs to be addressed now. Kentucky seems to have a problem with the truth. The issue I have with this is the fact Breonna's boyfriend Kenneth Walker was arrested when she died.

May 22, 2020
By Michael Levenson

Charges against Kenneth Walker, the boyfriend of Breonna Taylor, were dropped on Friday.

Prosecutors on Friday (click here) said they were dropping charges against the boyfriend of Breonna Taylor, a black woman who was fatally shot by three white police officers in Louisville, Ky., in March.

The announcement came one day after the Federal Bureau of Investigation said it had opened an investigation into the shooting, which has drawn nationwide attention.

“I believe that additional investigation is necessary,” Thomas B. Wine, the county prosecutor in Louisville, said at a news conference on Friday. “I believe that the independent investigation by the attorney general’s office in Kentucky, the F.B.I. and the U.S. attorney’s office must be completed before we go forward with any prosecution of Kenneth Walker.”...

I don't want to hear anything about any cult of personalities or how they came to be in the house together or any other negative or derogatory comment. The fact is a beautiful lady is dead and a good-looking man has had his life completely disrupted by police that obviously believes they can do no wrong. And guess what, Kentucky is so corrupt, they can't do anything wrong.

Ky. (WBKO) - Attorney General Daniel Cameron had a full first year in office.

The most significant is likely his handling of the Breonna Taylor case where the grand jury didn’t charge anyone directly with Taylor’s death.

Taylor was killed during a police raid in March of 2019 and her death ignited a national movement and many protests.

Former Louisville Officer Brett Hankison was the only one of the three officers indicted by a grand jury on three counts of wanton endangerment first degree for “blindly firing” into Taylor’s neighboring apartment where three people were inside. If convicted, Hankison could face up to 15 years in prison....

Civil rights violations? What are you kidding me? This is not only about civil rights violations, it is about the lousy SOBs that run the state. Brionna Taylor died unnecessarily, but, why? Because the corruption is so thick that police and sheriff officials can make up any cockamamie story they want to earn their Boy Scout badges.

This is about KENTUCKY and THE RULE OF LAW when officials, elected and otherwise, are caught red-handed manipulating "the truth," attempting to blame the victims dead and otherwise as to the hand of sheriff and police and the fact an entire Grand Jury was unable to return the correct verdicts because it was hidden from them.

This is not corruption, this is a blatant disregard of the Rule of Law to conduct a shadow government within the State of Kentucky. There isn't any recourse by the people except for the federal government to step in and set the record straight. Not just the record regarding the death of Bioanna Taylor and the wrongful imprisonment of Kenneth Walker, but, the entire record of corruption so deep there will be arrests made for long-standing BAD PRACTICES that victimize people and prosecute the innocent. Kenneth Walker is completely innocent, but, if it keeps a storyline going that allowed the sheriff's department to be exonerated from some of the most horrific police work on record, Kenneth Walker would already be tried and convicted.

Kentucky needs a Special Prosecutor to remove the corrupt government structure that looks like it can rewrite the truth to its own script. That is not only disastrous but, leaves me and many others wondering who else in prison or worse at the hand of those freewheeling law officers, including, by the way, the Attorney General are actually innocent people? The leader of the Kentucky Senate was at the ready to enhance the script all the more. He is elected and this is the laws he deals on a regular basis.

Brionna Taylor and Kenneth Walker are only the tip of the iceberg.

Nobody is asking pretty please anymore. This is it. Change to salvage the climate is now!

Dow Chemical has been around since the 1890s. The same time Henry Ford was stating greenhouse gases were a problem.

As a young man Dow (click here) entered the rudimentary chemical industry of the 1890s by inventing an entirely new method of extracting bromine from the prehistoric brine trapped underground at Midland, Michigan. His first patent was issued in 1889, and by 1933 he had over 90 patents. He is best known for his work in halogen chemistry, particularly the production of bromine and chlorine.

Singapore- Dow Inc is adjusting its carbon footprint and product slate (click here) to adapt to climate change and tap evolving consumption trends tied to the global energy transition, a senior executive said this week.

Dow has pledged to become carbon neutral by 2050 by boosting the use of renewable energy, such as wind power in the southern United States, and by improving energy efficiency at its petrochemical plants, Dow’s Asia Pacific President Jon Penrice told Reuters on Wednesday.

It is also developing products that help customers cut their own emissions such as sealants that improve heating efficiencies in buildings, materials to lighten electric vehicles and make batteries more efficient, he said.

“We actually see climate change as something that’s very likely to happen, high probability and high impact,” Penrice said.

“It’s going to be a big opportunity I think for many, many players in the petrochemical industry.”...

The problem is not the charges returned.

The charges returned from the Kentucky Grand Jury are correct. The problem are the charges not returned from the Kentucky Grand Jury because of information withheld from evidence.

Now, is the time to change product loyalty to bring about sustainable lifestyles that lead to zero emissions.

Left - Amada Blanc

Aviva chief executive Amanda Blanc (click here) has warned that the insurance industry cannot “speak with forked tongue” on global warming by doing one thing with its investment portfolios and another with the products it sells.

More insurers are promising to focus their often vast investment portfolios on those companies committed to cutting carbon emissions in line with the Paris climate agreement. But in an interview with the Financial Times, Blanc said the industry’s efforts to curb global warming also needed to be reflected in how it sold insurance.

“The underwriting needs to catch up with the investments,” she said. “We need to be having conversations with corporates around our ability to underwrite something which is no longer sustainable.

“We can’t be saying we want to take the premium but we’re not going to invest in these organisations. That would just be incoherent”, said Blanc, who has run Aviva since last July.

The warning came as Aviva pledged not to sell insurance to companies which make more than 5 per cent of their revenue from coal or other heavily-polluting fuels such as oil sands, unless they have signed up to climate targets.

The promise was part of a wider set of climate commitments announced by the UK insurer. Aviva said it would be a net zero carbon emissions company by 2040, a decade earlier than many other financial services companies have promised....

If one says it in Kentucky, the others fall in line.

Left - Senate President Robert Stivers

Senator Stivers discussed facts that were presented to the public by Attorney General Daniel Cameron that the public did not know such. Stivers said many thought it was a no-knock search warrant when Cameron said it was not and the officers identified themselves.

Senator Stivers went on to say it was a tragic set of events that took place and the warrant should have been executed at a different time, but it was done lawfully. Stivers said serving a search warrant at 1 a.m. is not appropriate policing.

“It’s not to say that there wasn’t negligent conduct and some bad policing and the city has settled with a substantial settlement because of that but because something is negligent or let’s just say it’s stupid doesn’t mean that it is criminal," said Stivers....

Air Products (APD) current stock price is $255.62.

February 25, 2021

Leigh Valley, Pa. - Air Products (NYSE:APD) has been rated (click here) as the top climate-aligned company by Barron's as part of its 2021 Ranking of the Most Sustainable Companies in America.

Overall, Barron's ranked Air Products 13th on its 100 Most Sustainable Companies list, up 20 spots from the previous year. Air Products earned first place as the top company for the climate-aligned segment of the rankings, which rated companies for efforts to reduce the impact on the environment throughout their operations and provide sustainable solutions.

Barron's specifically noted that Air Products, which has appeared on the Most Sustainable Companies list for three consecutive years, has committed billions of dollars of capital toward the largest renewable hydrogen project in history, which will provide carbon-free hydrogen to the world on a massive scale in 2025.

"Sustainability is at the heart of what we do. Our industrial gases, technologies and applications enable customers around the world to reduce their energy use, lower emissions and increase productivity," said Seifi Ghasemi, Air Products' Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. "We are proud to be recognized by Barron's for our sustainability efforts and solutions but know there is always more work to be done, which is why Air Products is playing a lead role in addressing significant energy and environmental challenges through gasification, carbon capture and hydrogen for mobility solutions around the world."...

Grand Jury members have attorneys so they can talk to the public about the lies of the AG. Interesting.

Two anonymous members of the Breonna Taylor case grand jury (click here) are telling their stories publicly more than a month after Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron's office announced the decision in the case. Over 2½ days in mid-September, Cameron's team of prosecutors and investigators laid out their findings to 12 grand jurors on what happened the night Taylor was killed at her South Louisville apartment just before 1 a.m. March 13. The grand jury returned an indictment Sept. 23 for one of the three officers who fired his weapon that night — former Detective Brett Hankison — on three counts of wanton endangerment. Hankison is accused of shooting into an occupied apartment next to Taylor's. Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and Detective Myles Cosgrove, who fired the rounds that struck and killed Taylor, were not charged....

A large iceberg about 20 times the size of Manhattan (click here) broke off the Brunt Ice Shelf in the Weddell Sea section of Antarctica during the past day, following the buildup of a large crack in the floating ice during the past decade. The iceberg is about 490 square miles and about 492 feet thick, according to the British Antarctic Survey (BAS).

The iceberg is large, but not as huge as the iceberg that calved from the Larsen C Ice Shelf in 2017 and recently threatened to run aground on South Georgia Island.

The BAS maintains a research station on the ice shelf, known as the Halley Research Station, but it will be unaffected by this calving event, the organization said. In 2016, the BAS moved the station, which was built on skis, to protect it from spreading cracks that could’ve left it marooned, floating out to sea aboard an iceberg.

The past decade has seen three major cracks develop through the floating ice shelf, according to a BAS news release.

“This is a dynamic situation. Four years ago we moved Halley Research Station inland to ensure that it would not be carried away when an iceberg eventually formed. That was a wise decision,” stated Simon Garrod, director of operations at the BAS, in the news release. There is currently no one at the base, since it is staffed only during the Antarctic summer research season....

Chevy is bringing back an updated "Bolt" in 2022.

February 25, 2021

Tesla (click here)
has established a "significant first mover advantage" over new entrants in the ever-expanding electric vehicle market, but a few other smaller names stand out, according to CFRA's Garrett Nelson.

In a note published Wednesday the senior equity analyst said Amazon-backed Rivian, Lucid Motors, and Fisker will emerge as "success stories," as EV sales climb in 2021.

Nelson uses four categories to analyze emerging electric-vehicle manufacturers: 1) the specs (price, range, etc.) and overall attractiveness of their initial vehicle models; (2) financial considerations such as their funding sources, balance sheets, and liquidity; (3) the growth opportunity of their sub-industry; and (4) the experience and credibility of management....

All the manufacturers are appreciated, but, I think Chevy is going to have the price point Americans will be looking for.

Drinkin' black coffee from a styrofoam cup, he lays a quarter on the box
He says "I like the way he sings and I like to hear him play, I just don't wanna hear him talk"
And he's sittin' in the corner of the Blue Spruce Bar, with a white peace-flag t-shirt
He's got his sleeves rolled up and he's a-waitin' for the man that put his name in the dirt

He says "Wait, wait a minute
"See that that barrel over there'll come flyin' through the air
"I'm gonna put your head right in it"
He says "Don't, don't you do it
"See that bar that holds the beer that's a-sittin' right here?
"I'm gonna put your head right though it"

And if earthly justice just don't get them in the end
There's always a heavenly trial on its way
And if the bank is empty and there just ain't no money to spend
At least you still got something to say

And he's talkin' to his family through the holes in the glass, he says that he's a changed man
He says "I learned a thing or two, like when to start new, and a fire don't need a fan"
Now he's pushin' broom at the valley highschool, he's keepin' it all in the closet
The Judge, he said, "So you better keep your lid on, that seems to be just what caused it"

He says "Wait, wait a minute

"I'm gonna put your head right in it"
He says "Don't, don't you do it

Thank you to the US House...

...for keeping a promise. It is important to keep the $15.00 per hour minimum wage in sight. The real power of the minimum wage will ultimately come from unions. We need to roll back the draconian legislation called “The Right to Work” because is agenda is not to IMPROVE the ability of workers to acquire upward movement to achieve home ownership, but instead, to destroy unions.

There is too much momentum out of misinformation to achieve economic-religious impoverishment with the illusion of keeping with God’s holy order to make it into heaven. This is the case because wealth is very unattainable for too many Americans and religion is a solace. Economic wealth needs to be defined and made common place with only “the ambition” and not the genius as its marker in the timeline of life. Walking in the light of God does not require surrendering to poverty simply because upward economic movement is out of reach.

That economic marker to common wealth has always been home ownership. Today, I read a millennium survey where a strong opinion is that home ownership is and will be out of reach for the rest of their lives. This is so much a reality that “IKEA” now sells an assembly kit for the new movement of our younger generations into a “tiny house” culture defined as ecofriendly.

There is no house today that isn’t ecofriendly if it is on a grid using alternative sources of fuel. ie: hydroelectricity. Hydroelectric power has been ecofriendly for decades. So, the marketing surrounding the “tiny house” culture has validity in the use of building materials that require less electrical power to create the components and choices of materials protecting important carbon sinks. But, to believe the house itself and its demand for electrical use is ecofriendly is wrongful thinking. The grid needs to be addressed and it’s source of power. Achieving zero carbon is not about tiny houses.

Unions must be strengthened, need to demand achievements by companies their members work for leaning into zero carbon goals and the Right to Work legislation erased from history, today and the future. The Right to Work is a return to slavery as if we aren’t already there.

Why is $15 per hour important? Because it creates that Middle Class and not the two tiered Wealthy and Poor. I consider Lower Middle Class the Poor as well because their children’s educational opportunities are victimized.

Examples of the two-tiered economic system exists in states such as Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina where residents laughingly will say, “We know how to do poverty real well.” That means they can eek out the appearance of the Middle Class but living paycheck to paycheck and having heavy debt balances. THAT is not wealth!

In looking to states such as the Northeast the people have accumulated real wealth with comfortable savings and retirements that are truly The Golden Years or as Senator Sanders would say, “A time of rest and grandchildren.” Not, a time of rest and grandchildren after I finish my Greeter Job at Walmart.

According to the Millenniums that had to create their own economy because, “ Oops” the Congress left them out of the budget in planning for their future opportunities, they will not own a home and might be destined more to look like the Chinese rather than Americans. There is no real opportunity for our children and grandchildren if we surrender our economy to China or Russia, isn’t that right Moscow Mitch?

It makes me chuckle when people hate the political Progressives. The Progressives live for the future. They live change. They believe all Americans have the right to representation including generations to come. Therein lies the opportunities of children and young adults. An American future imagined with enough change to create opportunities, ecofriendly and allow for a comfortable life throughout life is where the USA was at one time and should be again but just tweaked enough to improve the quality of life for generations to come.

$15 per hour is not a luxury, it is a necessity and it is a necessity now and not a part of a dreamscape FOREVER as the climate has been for over half a century.

Flint - Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley (click here) is taking issue with arguments made by attorneys for Rick Snyder as they prepare to return to court Tuesday, Feb. 23, for the former governor’s criminal case related to the Flint water crisis.

In a filing in Genesee District Court Monday, Feb. 22, Snyder attorney Brian P. Lennon argues that the charges against his client should be dismissed, in part because, “Neglecting a city is not a crime -- certainly not one with which Governor Snyder has been charged.”...

Give an attorney enough money while Snyder's passport is still good and they will say ANYTHING, even things never allowed by law.

  • Delayed development in children
  • Behavioral changes in children
  • Decreased production of red blood cells (anemia)
  • Hearing problems
  • Damage to the reproductive systems of men and women

The leading source of exposure to lead is lead-based paint. This was outlawed for residential use in 1978....

I told you and I told you to stop this stupid Trump paradigm of sending the kids to school.

Did I not tell anyone reading this blog to KEEP THE KIDS AT HOME! Now, schools are becoming hot spots of infection. You mean to tell me that sending children to school to socialize or receive special services ONLY TO TURN AROUND two weeks later and have to shut down the schools is WORTH IT?

THIS IS NOT WORTH IT!

Greensboro - Caldwell Academy and Oak View Elementary (click here) are included in a state report released Friday that identifies COVID-19 clusters in schools.

Five staff members and six students at Caldwell Academy have had COVID-19, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

The report does not provide dates of positive cases or other information such as grade level — or say whether any of the cases are still active.....

Southern legislators always put the almighty dollar ahead of the quality of life. They are following the Republican Idiot Paradigm of demanding children go back to school. Roy Cooper stands against the tide and I hope his veto holds up because he is doing the right thing.

Raleigh - Gov. Roy Cooper on Friday (click here) rejected a bill that would compel the state's 115 K-12 public school districts to reopen with at least partial in-person instruction, while also allowing parents the option of keeping their kids learning remotely.

The plan introduced by Republican state lawmakers could still become law if enough of the handful of Democrats who supported the bill decide to override the governor's veto.

“As written, the bill threatens public health just as North Carolina strives to emerge from the pandemic. Therefore, I veto the bill,” Cooper wrote in a message....

Parents have keep them home and safe all this time only to have them return to school with the danger still lurking only to get sick and have to keep them home ANYWAY!

Trump's year of mixed messages about the safety of being social has created false faces to hope. There is skepticism because people died when they were told there was no need to wear masks and the virus was no worse than the flu. SARS-Cov-2 is not a simple virus and it does kill.

Now, if the government wants to win over the people again, STOP LYING, admit the danger of this virus and its variants and ask faith leaders to help in returning trust to the government and the efforts to vaccinate. DO NOT LIE ABOUT THE VARIANTS. There are still outbreaks of dangerous viruses that may never have vaccines that work. Mask wearing, social distancing, hand washing, and all the other protections put in place may be necessary for a while until the incidents of these viruses are down to ZERO.

They wanted to get those most at risk from the coronavirus to be among the first to get the shot.

President Biden authorized $8 billion...

...for the return of damaged homes to Texans. The country cares. The country also cares about how that money is spent because Texas has no consumer protection. Governor Abbott needs to work with utility companies and all the home contractors that will be flooding into Texas to get more than their share of that $8 billion.

Either Governor Abbott places consumer protection in place to protect Texans, or there will be people living with blue traps on their roofs with little inside the home to provide warmth and cooling.

This is a new paradigm for the Governor so he needs to get up to speed to be sure there is no price gouging by utilities or contractors.

The findings about ...

...the Saudi Prince MBS are worrisome. Why the nepotism between him and the Trumps? MBS is not a stable partner if he satisfies his insecurities by killing his critics. It would be best to encourage Americans to quickly return home, until, their safety is not tenuous.

The deeper problem is that others will find resolve against Americans in that way. The violence will be tolerated if the prince gives it a nod.

This is a very big issue and will not be dismissed. Is Saudi Arabia a safe place for Americans that speak their minds? I think not.

Ms. Lindsey Boylan.

Mayor Bill de Blasio is correct in asking for an investigation into her allegations. What she is describing is a “Hostile Work Environment” and NOT sexual assault as FOX News is spinning in comparison with Bret Kavanaugh which is sexual harassment.

What Ms. Boylan is also describing is more than one actor within that hostile work environment. The New York laws are very strict about touching believed to be sexual in nature, including a person’s back or otherwise. New York law stipulates touching as harassment NOT assault.

One of the questions of the investigation has to be why did this take so long to come out if the n fact it was a hostile work environment laced with harassment.

I apologize for not following the issues with New York nursing homes but my focus was different and I will try to get up to speed about that. I am not a department or committee. I am one human being.

Governor Cuomo did not have first hand knowledge of the virus, Trump did. He also moved aggressively when the virus was rampaging through New Rochelle.

I don’t know about the interdepartmental tug of war, but, people dying is a serious issue and working to get it under control should have proceeded expeditiously. Perhaps a review of authority and what occurred needs to be understood so any delay would not happen again.

There also needs to be a review nationwide of containment in relation to transportation, especially airline travel. What capacity do states have in the way of intelligence of these threats and actual power to stop transportation known to facilitate virus spread.

Nationally there was a huge mistake in NOT putting health department leadership front and center to bring about solidified authority to place restrictions on citizens. It is the health department within the executive branch that has absolute power to any containment of disease regarding freedom of movement of citizens. Quarantine including wearing of masks, etc. is the authority of the health department. The health department has personnel with credentials that can exert that authority based in knowledge. Governors need to get that right when imposing restrictions on citizen freedoms.

I congratulate the Biden administration for the retaliatory strike in Syria. I hope the militia groups take it seriously. If this proves to be too little there will probably be more defensive measures taken.

There is also a report today that White Supremacists within the military is a threat. The military needs to resolve the issue through dishonorable discharges so real soldiers can trust their fellow team members. There also needs to be an investigation within the military of any deaths that may have been perpetrated by friendly fire as an excuse for murder of any race, ethnicity or gender. In such a case that is also a hate crime as well as murder.

The military needs to clean up the wayward culture while there is a Commander and Chief interested in doing so to strengthen the ranks. There is also the insurrection issue. The military should make it a clean sweep. Soldiers who feel wrongly accused have grievance procedures available to them.

US stocks moved higher on Friday, (click here) rebounding from a three-day losing streak after Janet Yellen advocated for more stimulus spending.

In a Thursday interview, Yellen told CNBC that there's a lot of pain in the economy still, evidenced by the recent jobless claims, which exceeded economist expectations.

"The price of doing too little is much higher than the price of doing something big," Yellen said, advocating for Congress to pass a $1.9 trillion stimulus bill....

I swear Americans are willing to believe the silliest things about supposed UFOs.

There is no UFO. The flight of a Russian missile is real and it was done to perform for Russian allies that are losing confidence in Putin.

The report by the airline pilot (click here) was correct and it actually is a matter of national security. Russia did an unauthorized flyover with a hypersonic missile to have the right to say even with President Biden in office, Russia would win any war by the USA. That is exactly what it was. The pilot couldn't believe his eyes because it appeared to be a UFO and it is more comfortable to allow the American people to believe there is no threat from Russia.

At a time in Russia when it is suffering under sanctions, the purchase of military weaponry by allies to Russia is an income for the country.'

What should come out of this is a better radar for the USA. How that happens is up to the military technology companies to design and build. I would think the advanced radar should be applied to the entire Nuclear Triad of the USA.

By Blake Stilwell

The age of Russian (click here) superweapons is upon us -- at least that's what President Vladimir Putin wants us to believe.

And they are cause for concern because the United States' traditional early warning systems might not be able to see those weapons coming.

Hypersonic weapons such as Russia's 3M22 Zircon fly so fast and low -- at speeds of up to Mach 6 and at a low atmospheric-ballistic trajectory -- that they can penetrate traditional anti-missile defense systems.

The missile flies with an advanced fuel that the Russians say gives it a range of up to 1,000 kilometers. And it's so fast that the air pressure in front of the weapon forms a plasma cloud as it moves, absorbing radio waves and making it practically invisible to active radar systems.

U.S. Aegis missile interceptor systems require 8-10 seconds of reaction time to intercept incoming attacks. In those 8-10 seconds, the Russian Zircon missiles will already have traveled 20 kilometers, and the interceptor missiles do not fly fast enough to catch up....

January 6 defense

Communication problems occurred on September 11, 2001.

Are there effective devices that are actually able to carry communications during active work? What does the military use as communications equipment that actually works during combat? Is there any device that actually works during combat? There has to be HACK PROOF equipment. I don’t believe that exists or can exist.

Where communications break down then soldiers rely on their training. What kind of training do Capital Police actually receive? Is it sufficient to counter such an attack as was executed on January 6, 2021?

Regardless, if the Capital Police are trained for combat they 1. Did not have the equipment nor 2. The number of personnel to carry out effective resistance to protect their own lives yet alone the lives of the elected officials in the building, including the Vice President.

There needs to be a new assessment of the ranks needed in the Capital Police. The National Guard going forward cannot remain as a protective force on Capital Grounds. If this level of protection is necessary, then there needs to be a new regiment developed for this purpose. The current National Guard cannot be assigned at Washington, DC forever.

The reality might be that the National Guard Commander will require an active unit at all times. But, to coordinate properly a new regiment might have to be within the authority of the Capital Police and the DC National Guard left as it exists today and as a back up to the Capital Police units.

No matter how this works out the appearance of soldiers at the Capital has to blend so families can visit their national seat of government. That cannot be dismissed as important.

While this beefing up takes place the real work belongs to the FBI and local police across this country to round up these insurrectionists and bring them to justice.

The real problem is Trump and his lousy authority to cause these problems. Going forward the Capital Police have to have an autonomous right to act without authority of a corrupt president and the power structure available for corruption by him. Attendance of such crowds in DC should automatically trigger the protective profile necessary to count any perceived threat.

I don’t believe what a mess Trump made of the security of the USA and the US Senate’s willingness to allow it to exist. I might point to THE ADDITIONAL COST these bozos are incurring for this country because of their wayward loyalties!

All oars in the water, please. There is such a thing as political pollution and it kills.

Let’s not mince words (click here) – the energy crisis in Texas is an unmitigated disaster on all fronts. Some 4.4 million people have been without power, heat, and running water for days and lack of the state grid’s preparation is to blame. Texas loves to brag about its energy independence and self-reliant electrical grid. But the events of the past week underscore that America’s largest energy producer is not as energy secure as once thought. About 90% of the Lone Star State is powered by a Texas-only power grid, but the current events strongly suggest that the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) should join a regional transmission organization to meet energy demands.

Texas’ energy island, compounded by a failure to weatherize renewable and thermal power sources, led to the worst energy crisis in the country since the Northeast Power Outage of 2003. So far 30 people have died and hundreds have been poisoned by carbon monoxide from generators in their house or by car exhaust, trying to stay warm. What’s worse, we failed to prepare the country for the expectable pandemic, and now we have also failed to prepare a large section of the country to cope with fully expectable weather conditions. These are massive failures of resilience our geopolitical enemies take very seriously.

Climate change is empirically leading to more frequent and more extreme weather events on both sides of the thermometer – this is a fundamental reality. At the same time, America’s energy infrastructure has grown increasingly fragile, with vulnerabilities put on display over the years in California, New York, and now Texas....

Why is USA Today quoting "InfoWars?"

I was following the tragedy in Texas and Oklahoma. I would have been posting to the internet if there was a US DOE obstructing energy to Texas. What I read in reports at the time was that both Texas authorities and the US DOE were pushing ERCOT to produce as much energy as possible. The energy conglomerate didn't have the capacity regardless of emissions.

I was very, very surprised to see an earlier report by USA Today that quoted Infowars. USA Today has since updated the report to reflect the truth. Infowars is part of the problem in the media, not a solution to the country's vast misinformation under Trump.

Infowars globbed onto this letter (click here). It was signed and put into effect on the evening of February 14th. Unfortunately, the storm began hours after this letter was issued.

One of the priorities of the Biden Administration is to bring an end to adverse environmental conditions of minority communities. So, any emissions by energy companies are going to be reviewed by this administration. The letter is specific and allowed time to answer it's questions.

Austin -The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) (click here) entered emergency conditions and initiated rotating outages at 1:25 a.m. today.

About 10,500 MW of customer load was shed at the highest point. This is enough power to serve approximately two million homes.

Extreme weather conditions caused many generating units – across fuel types – to trip offline and become unavailable.

There is now over 30,000 MW of generation forced off the system.

"Every grid operator and every electric company is fighting to restore power right now," said ERCOT President and CEO Bill Magness.

Rotating outages will likely last throughout the morning and could be initiated until this weather emergency ends....

That day, any restrictions were lifted by both the State of Texas and the US DOE. As a matter of fact, ERCOT was ORDERED to work at maximum capacity both by the State and the US DOE. I blogged that days ago. That is on this blog.

CLAIM: An order from the U.S. Department of Energy (click here) under President Joe Biden blocked Texas from generating adequate power during the recent statewide emergency because it would exceed pollution limits.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. The order did the opposite of what social media users are claiming. It gave the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which operates Texas’ power grid, emergency permission to produce enough energy to restore power to Texas homes, even if it temporarily exceeded pollution limits.

Please have confidence in the quality of governance being brought to the USA by the Biden Administration. When adverse information is brought forward to the media PLEASE validate that with authority. The Biden Administration is not going to lie to the media or the people. That "Era of Lies" ended when Trump vacated the White House.

Not to say there won't be mistakes from time to time, but, the mistakes will be minimal. The media should be interested in reporting everything good and bad, but, I guarantee if there is any problem it will be straightened out by if no one else the President himself. He wants the facts. Don't be afraid to share them with the press secretary to be sure the people are receiving good information.

The media has been through a rough few years. I really want the best of media coverage to come back. I want the media to find a way to remove hate from our dialogue as a country. We need to go there.

But, quoting right wing extreme media is a big mistake. They spin everything. Try to practice the best of what I know is possible. The country needs it. Let's try to bring the people together around the truth and hold the government responsible when anything isn't as promised. This country is sometimes slow to make that turn because of capitalism and it's consumerism, but, it can be done and the media needs to put the muscle behind that turn. We have lives to save from a deadly virus.

Thanks.

The Democrats need to find a path for their priorities and promises.

The Biden presidency has a great deal of confidence from the country. I was astounded by the graph in Philadelphia and the change in the number of cases of COVID-19 on a daily basis. That is definitely Joe Biden and his relationship with the country. He has taken action against all the monsters facing the USA. Texas is being held in his hand to be sure people are not exploited and has provided help to the state to return safety to their lives without being gouged for money by a utility plan that simply is a bad idea.

I hope President Biden maintains Neera Tanden to lead the Office of Budget and Management as an Acting Director. She deserves the opportunity to lead this office. He obviously has confidence in her and she has incredible credentials. I think she will be great.

I think Trump was saying in his defense at his impeachment trial and the US Senate accepted it, that the First Amendment protects inflammatory speech. That is a lie, but, if inflammatory speech is upheld by the US Senate, then the US Senate cannot be serious about their complaints as thin-skinned pouters to remove the nomination of Ms. Tanden.

The pouting Republicans are not partners to the Democrats and certainly not the country. January 6th was real and the best the Republicans can do is leave Trump as a place holder to their future elections. That is simply mindlessness lead by Trump's priorities. As far as I am concerned, Trump is lucky to be within the borders of the USA, yet alone be upheld as a leader of the Republican Party. There is nothing left to value with the Republican Party. Their former members are running away in herds from the party. The exception to that might be the ones with guns and plans for more hatred of their very own country.

The Democrats must lead. They must help the American people to recover their lives. That isn't going to come from a Republican Party led by Moscow Mitch of spineless McCarthy. The Dems need to get on with it. The Republicans are putting a drag on the economic recovery.

Welcome J&J. The FDA sees a place for the vaccine in the country.

Grand Rapids, Mich.- The Food and Drug Administration’s report (click here) that Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine is safe and protects against severe illness is welcomed news for those tasked with inoculating the public.

The regulating agency confirmed Wednesday the single-dose shot is about 66% effective at preventing moderate to severe COVID-19. That efficacy rate is even higher, 85%, against the most serious illness.

Perhaps the most promising aspect of the vaccine analysis is that 28 days after vaccination, there were no hospitalizations or deaths for those who received the shot.

Kent County Health Department Immunization Supervisor Mary Wisinski says that takeaway is more important than comparing efficacy rates related to preventing illness altogether — both Moderna and Pfizer were 95% effective at protection against the virus....

McCarthy is like McConnell, they are mindless idiots reading off the same email from Trump.

Liz Cheney is a thinking person. She is not partisan. She makes decisions and spurns rhetoric. She carries the values conservatives are looking for and not finding anywhere else. She needs to set up her own caucus in the Republican House. She is capable of taking the US House. She should be at the lead, not empty-headed McCarthy.

The Republican women took the seats in the US House.

I am not a Republican. I don't trust McCarthy or McConnell, but, I trust Liz Cheney. She is not an extension of her father, however, she is his daughter. She makes her own decisions.

AstraZeneca (click here) expects to get US emergency authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine in April, the firm's president told lawmakers on Tuesday.

As soon as it gets the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) greenlight, AstraZeneca will have 30 million doses of the 62 percent effective shot ready to ship to the US, said president of the biopharmaceuticals arm of the company, Dr Ruud Dobber on Tuesday.

He told members of the House of Representatives' Committee on Energy and Commerce that the company could deliver 'up to 50 million' doses by the end of April...

The Joe Factor will have the USA end it's own epidemic without vaccines.

All they needed was a SuperStar.

Philadelphia’s coronavirus case counts (click here) have decreased by 80% since peaking in late December, Health Commissioner Thomas Farley said Tuesday.

“It’s a sign that things will be getting better this spring and summer,” Farley said.

The decrease is likely due to the virus following the pattern of most respiratory viruses, which peak in the winter months and decrease as spring arrives, Farley said. Farley said declining case counts cannot be attributed to vaccinations because not enough vaccines have been administered in the city; as of Monday evening there have been 174,092 first doses given in Philadelphia.

Chicago’s lakefront, (click here) playgrounds and indoor aquatics centers are starting to reopen after the coronavirus pandemic forced them to close nearly a year ago, the Chicago Park District announced Tuesday.

Many people have ignored the city’s playground strictures, and enforcement of the playground ban has been hardly consistent. But Chicago police have continued to enforce the closure of lakefront parks until this week, as first reported by Block Club Chicago, which reported Monday that lakefront aldermen announced the move starting Friday....

He died of COVID-19.

FERC is investigating price gouging in Texas.

That is probably a new vocabulary word for ERCOT. Price gouging, especially after such a tragedy that cost lives, is not a State's Rights issue. A negligent company that causes it's own price squeeze because it neglected it's responsibility to its customers, doesn't get to exploit them after their own preventable failure.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (click here) on Monday announced it would investigate whether any natural gas or electricity market violations occurred during the recent cold snap that left millions without power in Texas and Oklahoma last week.

FERC's announcement follows its decision, in partnership with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), last week to investigate the mass outages across the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), as well as in the Southwest Power Pool and the Midcontinent Independent System Operator. It also follows calls from Chair Richard Glick for Congress and the Texas legislature to reexamine ERCOT's "go it alone" approach.

The commission also announced it would open a new proceeding to examine the threat climate change poses to electric reliability, following FERC's decision last week to close its resilience docket, originally opened in response to the Trump administration's coal and nuclear bailout proposal....

The first known case of the coronavirus variant (click here) discovered in South Africa has popped up in King County, and 19 additional cases of the variant first found in the UK have been identified, according to the Washington State Department of Health.

The B.1.351 variant of SARS-CoV-2, first seen in South Africa in December, was identified through genomic sequencing at the UW Medicine Virology Laboratory. It has been found in 10 states in the U.S.

The B.1.1.7 strain, which was first identified in the UK, seems to spread more easily and quickly than other variants and was first found a month ago in Washington state.

The appearance of the variants in Washington is not a surprise, Dr. Jeff Duchin, health officer for Public Health – Seattle & King County, said at a news briefing Tuesday.

The virus will continue to evolve and not all variants are worrisome, but those that are — called “variants of concern” — include both the UK and South Africa variants, he said.

Duchin said the new strains should cause people to “double down on their efforts to prevent COVID-19 transmissions.”...

No one used the "Jaws of Life" to extricate Tiger Woods from the vehicle. Retractions are required of every media that wrongly printed that.

As a matter of fact, he was able to use his legs to get out of the car. The vehicle had airbags over every interior surface. The car saved his life and quite possibly serious injury to his legs.

The GOP are headed in the wrong direction. Embrassing Trump will be their down fall.

Trump is a liar and most Republicans don't like it. They were lied to enough all during his time in office and the antics over the election were very obvious.

When Diane Tyson (click here) got her driver’s license renewed Jan. 5, a DMV clerk asked whether she wanted to make any changes to her voter registration. A lifelong Republican, Tyson once ran for local office near Reading. She decided to wait: Supporters of Donald Trump were set to descend on Washington the next day as Congress met to certify his election loss.

“I wanted to see if it would be as ugly as it turned out to be,” she said.

As upsetting as the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol attack was, Tyson, 68, said watching Pennsylvania congressmen vote to throw out their own state’s election results is what soured her on the GOP.

She changed her registration to independent on Jan. 7.

The government buildings in DC need to be safe for families again.

The Capitol Police and the government of Washington, DC have to have their own national security officer related to the FBI.

New York City formed their own investigation bureau after 911. It would appear NYC also needs their own international bureau on diseases. It took a horrible toll on that city because airlines from Europe were not shut down.

The health investigators need to answer to the Health Department. The Health Department of any city has the authority needed to declare a health emergency, but, the idea of intelligence is to prevent the health emergency. Health officials will understand a report without any interpretation. Or. At least they should.

It is a worry that North Korea...

...is refusing shipments of food. If North Korea has complaints it should speak up so misunderstandings can be cleared up to its people’s benefit.

These shipments go to many countries because the climate crisis is destroying crops. There is no shame in this.

Congratulations to India.

After President Biden took office, China and India now have a disengagement agreement along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh.

National Security includes being more than willing to defend borders regardless of the oppositional power. That is when allies become vital.

Well done, India.

I find the Supreme Court decision about Trump's taxes long overdue.

What is more troubling is the dissent written by Justice Clarence Thomas. He is one of the members of the Supreme Court that likes to foreshadow the future.

February 22, 2021

The Supreme Court on Monday (click here) denied an appeal from Republicans challenging a Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision that allowed ballots received up to three days after Election Day to be counted to accommodate challenges by the coronavirus pandemic.
Justice Clarence Thomas wrote a forceful dissent. Read it here:...

He and Alito so far are guilty of casting a long shadow over the future. To be completely honest, Thomas's opinion is political and written to satisfy Ginni Thomas's friends. Ginni Thomas is a right-wing extremist. I am fairly confident he wrote this opinion, IN THE MINORITY, to make his wife and her extremist friends happy. That pandering to his wife is not exclusively my opinion. It needs to be looked into by an investigator or perhaps the Inspector General.

The court decision was correct in that extenuating circumstances of this election with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic being at the center of concern, but, also which Thomas overlooks, was the problem with the US Postal Service and delayed mail deliveries.

There was no realistic timeline to convene legislative sessions to add amendments to state voting laws. Thomas, himself, states there were "...unusually high numbers of petitions and emergency applications...". Hello? Justice Thomas are you in there?

Thomas contradicts his own objection within the first two paragraphs of his dissent. At any rate, he maintains the states' "made up" rules for the elections. In the case of Pennsylvania, it was allowed for the state to extend it's acceptance of ballots for up to three days after the election. He also goes on to say the date stamp on the ballots did not have to be verified they were mailed on election day.

There are other states that allow for as long as 18 days or more for mail delivery of ballots. California is one of them. One might ask why. Because it is a huge state and coordination with Sacramento takes time.

You'll excuse me, but, if a ballot is received under the new and slower Trump US Post Office when did Thomas think the ballots were postmarked. On the third day? The very day the ballot was received?

But, what the other justices stated was that even if all those ballots were removed from the count IT WOULD NOT MATTER! These screwball ideas about the ballot's magical powers are deranged and insult the integrity of the election process. Not every idea has to be entertained when counting ballots because it is the majority that wins and if the ballots in question are fewer than the winning margin, WHY BRING THE ISSUE UP IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Oh, wait. I forgot. Trump was robbed of his WIN. Like I said, screwball ideas.

Even that idea, I mean, for real already. Where does he get the nerve to even think he was going to be returned to the White House? Ya see. I think he knew long before November 2020 that he was going to lose the election. For real now. Anyone in the country knew, in the majority that had real news available to them, that Trump was not coming back into power. We knew it. We, as a country, made up our minds all along the four-year timeline. The VIRUS was simply the frosting on the cake of incompetency, lies, and policies of hate. Trump knew he was not going to win. He kept up the diversion for his audience wrapped up on propaganda and driven mad into a violent mob. January 6th was planned by the president himself.

Well, back to Justice Thomas. After implicating his own dissent in his opening paragraphs as false and underhanded, he goes on with the ambition of casting doubt on the future. We don't know what the future will hold, but, members of this court seem to think they have the right to dictate the outcomes before they happen anyway. That is complete dysfunction inspired by and catered to The Federalist Society.

On Page 2, in the first paragraph, Thomas states, "...But that might not be the case in the future...." DISNEY IS NOT SUPPOSED TO ENTER INTO THE DISSENTS OF SUPREME COURT JUSTICES UNLESS IT IS A CASE ABOUT DISNEY.

Somehow a few of the Justices wrapped up in their social contacts with The Federalist Society believe in magical thinking that the future is theirs to decide. Ah, the need to speak from the grave. Were there ever such geniuses as those now that the future has to be dictated as the opportunity permits? Does Thomas or his wife have a crystal ball in their living room? You know, they can get a little odd. With Reagan is was Nancy's horoscope. I just thought a gypsy might come to visit to read palms from time to time.

"These cases provide us with the ideal opportunity to address just that authority nonlegislative officials have to set election rules, and to do so well before the next election cycle. The refusal to do so is inexplicable."

Well, isn't that just the ego that is a steering committee all by itself? Then the egotist goes on to explain Pennsylvania's long history of minimal use of mail-in ballots.

Really? That is the case with most states. The ONLY reason half the country voted with mail in ballots is that Donald John Trump turned a deadly virus loose on the voters of the USA! YES, HE DID. He never voiced a word of caution about any aspect of protection from the virus. He opposed mask-wearing. Never believed in social distancing that was obvious in his rallies. He was president, he could do anything he wanted including sending in the National Guard and Army Corp of Engineers to put up temporary hospital facilities. So, I guess, the crowd was supposed to enjoy their rally before they became deathly ill.

I really don't need to go on. Justice Thomas was completely flagrant in his dissent. If there was ever a dissent to be removed from the country's record, this is the one.
