Saudi Arabia has surrendered.

It is very odd to watch the Prince throw in the towel. MBS, right? He was the one that came into power, via Trump’s efforts, and proceeded to take an aggressive stance. It was MBS’s posture that brought on the war at his borders.

Now, he and China want to called it normalization. Sure. First Iran agrees to end the conflict, now it is the Houthis. There is no other way to look at it, MBS screwed up. I love the way he wants to normalize relations with Israel for a POSSIBLE recognition that it exists.

I would think "normalization" would immediately include recognizing Israel as a sovereign nation.

Amman, Jordan — Arab foreign ministers (click here) will gather in Jordan on Monday to discuss Syria’s long-running conflict and ending Damascus’s diplomatic isolation in the region, the Foreign Ministry in Amman said.

Syria’s President Bashar Assad has been politically isolated since the conflict in his country began in 2011.

However, recent weeks have seen a flurry of diplomatic activity after Saudi Arabia and Iran — a close ally of Damascus — resumed diplomatic ties in March, shifting regional relations.

Monday’s meeting in Amman will bring together foreign ministers from Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.

The talks will “take stock of the contacts of these countries with the Syrian government to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis,” a Foreign Ministry statement said Sunday....

I would expect at least the USA would be in attendance. Has Arabia noticed there have been conflicts with Russian and USA aircraft over Syria? I would think the first thing that needs to be done is to have the USA at the meeting to discuss what the problem is that Russian aircraft are causing tensions over Syria.

The USA is involved because of it's alliance with Israel. There is not going to be attacks of Israel by any other Arab country. Jordan and the USA are on good terms and I would expect the USA State Department and possibly a representative from the USA military as well. There is a lot going on with China trying to leverage a presence in the region so tensions are high.

China has resumed construction work on a military base (click here) in the United Arab Emirates in defiance of displeasure by the United States, leaked intelligence documents have revealed.

According to the Washington Post, leaked US intelligence documents that it obtained reportedly show that Chinese plans to continue construction in its military base in the UAE have gone ahead.

The suspected Chinese military facility at Khalifa port near Abu Dhabi is part of plans to create a global network of military facilities at ports across the Middle East, south-east Asia, and Africa by 2030, labelled 'project 141.'

The reported continuation of the build-up of that base comes after the works there were forced to halt in 2021 due to US objections. According to the outlet, however, US intelligence detected the resumed construction in December, a mere year after it was apparently halted....

It would appear that all of Xi's propaganda about peace isn't really about peace. It sincerely looks like Xi wants conflict with the USA.

Al Dhafra Air Force Base, United Arab Emirates (click here)

October 22, 2020

For the first time in over a decade, (click here) the US Air Force is publicly acknowledging it runs an air war out of Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates.

The US embassy in country recently worked with Emirati counterparts to make the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing — an Air Combat Command-run unit at the base — known, officials told Military.com.

Military.com first spoke with members of the 380th on a trip to the Middle East earlier this summer on condition the name and location of the base not be disclosed, and that full names of personnel not be used due to safety concerns amid ongoing air operations against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.

While the 380th was established at the base on Jan. 25, 2002, the US military has had a presence on the base for approximately 25 years. The base is home to a variety of combat operations...

One might note the base was established January 25, 2002. Why? Because of the events of September 11, 2001. The USA has a strong interest in maintaining a base for national security interests. However, Xi and Putin seem more interested in victimizing the USA further and raise conflict instead of peace. The USA has a right to be safe and it has operations there for one reason and one reason only; to maintain the peace.

Samuel Alito leaked his own opinion.

In an article in USA Today the Associate Justice openly stated he discusses confidential court cases with others at dinner with his wife. Another “Ginny.”

End of discussion!

Supreme Court Justices are bound by the same confidentiality as lawyers and other judges. He states in the article he knows who leaked it. Yeah, he did. Dinner guests are not bound by fiduciary licensed oaths.

The Robert’s Court ran an investigation internally. The leak didn’t occur internally. Alito leaked it at dinner with a trusted confidant. For all we know the people at the next table leaked after overhearing Alito disclose it.

The DOJ needs to file appropriate charges against these justices who obviously believe they are above the law.

Nord Stream was a construction accident

The pipeline wasn’t in service. It was still under construction. The evidence to the fact there was natural gas in the pipeline is overwhelming. The pipeline was supposed to be empty. The methane hydrates caused the disruption in the construction. There was no nefarious anything going on. Someone flooded an unfinished pipeline with methane and the result was a rupture. An explosion would have ignited the gas and destroyed the pipeline in its entirety, as well as having killed anyone along the way including boats in the water for miles with an enormous explosion that was far more damaging than what occurred.

If the pipeline wasn’t full of gas the water, upon disruption, would have rushed in and flooded it. The evidence of bubbling up methane out of the water points to a construction error and not sabotage.

The United States and NATO are completely innocent of any aggression. The pipeline ruptured due to whatever occurred that filled it with natural gas. It was not in use and no gas was supposed to be in the pipeline.

The communists have the airwaves full of hate propaganda in the world of the Free World so it is easy to justify communist aggressions.

The communists are influential in the Republican Party.

April 26, 2023
By Shaylee Ragar and Acacia Squires

Republicans, who dominate the Montana House of Representatives, (click here) have voted Wednesday to formally punish Democratic Rep. Zooey Zephyr.

Zephyr, who is transgender, has been blocked from speaking since last week. That's when she told supporters of a bill to ban gender-affirming care that when they bowed their heads in prayer, she hoped they would see "blood on [their] hands." She says she was alluding to studies that show that transgender health care can reduce suicidality in youth....

LGBT People Are Being Targeted by Anti-LGBT Propaganda and Foreign Agents Laws (click here)

Following the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, Russia liberalized some of its anti-LGBT laws. Most notably, homosexual relationships were decriminalized in 1993. Transgender Russians have also been allowed to change their legal gender on identity documents since 1997, although there are many obstacles to the process and invasive surgical requirements remain in place. Despite these liberalization trends during the immediate post-Soviet period, in recent years, Russian authorities have routinely denied permits for Pride parades, intimidated and arrested LGBT activists and condoned anti-LGBT statements by government officials. ILGA-Europe, the European section of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, rates Russia as the least protective country in Europe for LGBT citizens, ranking it 49th out of the 49 European countries rated in its annual survey.

In June 2013, the Russian duma in Moscow passed a new law banning the “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relationships”to minors. The new federal law is closely related to several regional laws that were already on the books, all of which seek to penalize “propaganda” of homosexuality, generally with the intent of “protecting” minors. The city of Sochi, which is the site of the upcoming Winter Olympics, has one of those regional laws in place. And while the regional laws are not uniform, like the new federal law, they all tend to advance vague definitions of propaganda that lend themselves to the targeting and ongoing persecution of the country’s LGBT community. The language of this new law focuses on “non-traditional” sexual relationships, to contrast with “traditional values” or “traditional family” language that Russia is promoting at the UN to oppose positive statements supporting the human rights of LGBT people....

The level of human rights violation and anti-Americanism is palpable in the Republican Party. All these issues are intended to divide the country. It is nonsense. In the USA there are individual rights and gender identity is one of them. The LGBTQ community is a great community in this country. That community helped contain AIDS in the USA and promotes well being.

This entire attack on freedom and liberty is nonsense. The Montana House is practicing nothing but bigotry and Ms. Zephyr should sue them for harassment in federal court. What she and any other member of the LGBTQ community has to say is vital for healthy, happy children in families that may be confused or misguided. Ms. Zephyr is saving lives of our young people and she should have a prominent position as a person of compassion focused on "RIGHTS and PRIVACY" we all should have.

...Touching on his signature issues, (click here) the far-right leader railed against immigration, globalism and gender fluidity as he declared that the “West is at war with itself,” describing an ideological “battle for Western civilization” he said would be fought in Washington and Brussels.

“The globalists can all go to hell,” Orbán said to enthusiastic applause. “I have come to Texas.”...

The Democrats at all levels of government need a cohesive policy and bills regarding parental rights.

There is a growing issue in the country sparked primarily by Republicans to win elections. They are basically saying that schools must fully disclose all information to parents.

No one denies it is important parents are well informed regarding the progress their children are making in school. The social aspect of a child's experience in school is often not a topic of discussion with parents and teachers UNLESS the child is experiencing behavior problems that are disruptive. Most social issues in school are handled well by teachers who want to teach and not have a disruptive environment.

The parental rights issue being focused on by Republicans is that schools are keeping secret children that are LGBTQ in nature.

Below are a few references that bring focus to this political scandal being touted by Republicans as important.

It is important children are safe. What form of interaction that takes with parents is a case by case basis. Social workers can easily be involved with any child experiencing gender identity issues IF the child is in crisis. An IEP (Individual Education Plan) can be instituted if the child requires counseling and/or help with family involvement. The important issue is that there is no shame in any of it and families can easily find happiness with their child(ren) if they come together with wholesome expectations.

Abuse can be a problem in households across the USA and yes it can involve child(ren) with gender identity issues, but, the school can play an important role in reporting abuse. All states and I believe it is a federal mandate, that teachers must report abuse to authorities to allow for intervention that can save lives and/or improve the well being of a child and/or a family.

The idea parents need a bill of rights in education is bizarre. Elections bring in people on a Board of Education and a Superintendent of Schools to set policy. Another layer of policies will only confuse the issues at hand. There can be no malevolent policies within schools that would influence gender identity as that itself would be a form of abuse.

PRIVACY to the child and the family is paramount to a good outcomes. Teachers are not autonomously deciding child gender identity issues. That is also abuse and I do believe it can be prosecuted. So, the entire issue is rather political and not practical. In realizing this is a growing political crescendo for Republicans to distract from lack of funding, health care, food stamps and other supports for schools and families; the Democrats needs a well established policy.

It is simply wrong to make children the focus of politics in a way that profoundly effects their lives growing up leading to adulthood. When children are found in legal trouble and spend time within the counts and in child detention facilities those records are sealed. In that lies the answer to the fact these issues are delicate and require privacy and professionals.

How to Report Child Abuse and Neglect (click here)

April 19, 2023
By Paul Tracy

In a packed Representatives Hall, (click here) opponents and supporters of the Parental Bill of Rights in Education testified on whether Senate Bill 272 would harm or help children and their parents.

Members of the state’s LGBTQ community came out in force to oppose the bill and held competing rallies with supporters of the bill before the hearing on different areas of the State House grounds.

Members of the Kent Street coalition, wearing vests saying “Peace Keepers” planned to limit conflicts as the LGBTQ community was warned that members of the Proud Boys were expected to be present at the rally in support of the bill.

The hearing began with legislators speaking before the many citizens could get a chance to testify.

State Sen. Sharon Carson, R-Londonderry, the bill’s sponsor, said there is a need to let parents know why their child is being bullied in school or what is going on and the legislation would allow parents to be informed if they ask.

This would particularly impact those who identify by another gender from which they are enrolled and could lead to conflicts, and suicide, opponents warned....

This is only ONE study regarding gender identity. There are journals filled with studies regarding child gender identity issues and the impact on their lives and their families. Abuse is found within this paradigm and it cannot be ignored in a country where freedom is a mandate and all people should be free to be individuals.

Child Abuse Negl. 2002 Nov; 26(11): 1165–1178.

...While there is some uncertainty (click here) about the ways in which individual characteristics of a child may contribute to risk for maltreatment (Ammerman, 1991), there are some characteristics that do appear to be correlated with the occurrence of childhood abuse and neglect (Friedrich & Boriskin, 1976). Children with a physical or mental disability (Goldson, 1998; Sullivan & Knutson, 2000; Westcott & Jones, 1999) and those exhibiting opposite sex-linked behaviors (McConaghy & Silove, 1992) experience higher rates of abuse and neglect and overall poorer relationships with their parents. There is also growing suspicion that some who identify as gay, lesbian, or bisexual, either in adolescence or eventually adulthood, may experience higher rates of maltreatment during childhood and adolescence (Tjaden, Thoennes, & Allison, 1999). This may be due to the stigma associated with minority sexual orientation, differences in problem behaviors such as drug or alcohol use (Fergusson, Horwood, & Beautrais, 1999; Garofalo, Wolf, Kessel, Palfrey, & DuRant, 1998; Russell, Driscoll, & Truong, 2002; Saewyc, Bearinger, Heinz, Blum, & Resnick, 1998), and/or gender nonconformity (Harry, 1989)....

The DOJ need to take up the issue of corruption within the Robert's Supreme Court.

It is called corruption. There is no reason for it. There is nothing to understand or explain. It is corrupt and needs to be taken seriously. Honest judges devoted to the USA Constitution don't do this. They are given life time appointments to avoid such corruption.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas (click here) voted to end federal tenant protections that his billionaire benefactor’s company says threatened its real estate profit margins, according to corporate documents reviewed by The Lever. Thomas did not disclose his relationship with real estate billionaire Harlan Crow, nor did he recuse himself from the 2021 case, despite its potential impact on Crow Holdings.

Now, rent control — which Crow Holdings’ documents also say threatens the company’s business — could come before Thomas, and there is no indication he would recuse himself if it does.

Recent reporting by ProPublica found that Thomas failed to disclose two decades’ worth of luxury gifts provided by Crow, as well as Crow’s purchase of properties owned by Thomas, in apparent violation of longstanding federal ethics rules....

The facts stand for themselves.

By Eric Lichtblau

Washington - Under pressure from liberal critics, (click here) Justice Clarence Thomas of the Supreme Court acknowledged in filings released on Monday that he erred by not disclosing his wife’s past employment as required by federal law.

Justice Thomas said that in his annual financial disclosure statements over the last six years, the employment of his wife, Virginia Thomas, was “inadvertently omitted due to a misunderstanding of the filing instructions.”

To rectify that situation, Justice Thomas filed seven pages of amended disclosures listing Mrs. Thomas’s employment in that time with the Heritage Foundation, a conservative policy group, and Hillsdale College in Michigan, for which she ran a constitutional law center in Washington.

The justice came under criticism last week from Common Cause, a liberal advocacy group, for failing to disclose Mrs. Thomas’s employment as required under the 1978 Ethics in Government Act. While justices are not required to say how much a spouse earns, Common Cause said its review of Internal Revenue Service filings showed that the Heritage Foundation paid Mrs. Thomas $686,589 from 2003 to 2007....

This is a chronic issue with Thomas over decades of time. It is not an "Ooops" or any other one time mistake. These are methods of his corruption.

In 2014, one of Texas billionaire Harlan Crow’s companies purchased (click here) a string of properties on a quiet residential street in Savannah, Georgia. It wasn’t a marquee acquisition for the real estate magnate, just an old single-story home and two vacant lots down the road. What made it noteworthy were the people on the other side of the deal: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his relatives.

The transaction marks the first known instance of money flowing from the Republican megadonor to the Supreme Court justice. The Crow company bought the properties for $133,363 from three co-owners — Thomas, his mother and the family of Thomas’ late brother, according to a state tax document and a deed dated Oct. 15, 2014, filed at the Chatham County courthouse.

The purchase put Crow in an unusual position: He now owned the house where the justice’s elderly mother was living. Soon after the sale was completed, contractors began work on tens of thousands of dollars of improvements on the two-bedroom, one-bathroom home, which looks out onto a patch of orange trees. The renovations included a carport, a repaired roof and a new fence and gates, according to city permit records and blueprints.

A federal disclosure law passed after Watergate requires justices and other officials to disclose the details of most real estate sales over $1,000. Thomas never disclosed his sale of the Savannah properties. That appears to be a violation of the law, four ethics law experts told ProPublica.

The disclosure form Thomas filed for that year also had a space to report the identity of the buyer in any private transaction, such as a real estate deal. That space is blank...

And then there is Ginni Thomas and unapologetic her participation and enthusiasm for January 6th. She refuses to believe in "The Rule of Law." Belief in the Rule of Law will vanquish her political ideology.

This is an ethics issue. It is one thing for the wife a Supreme Court Justice to be involved in politics. There is nothing wrong with that, but, to seek to legitimize an assault on the USA Capitol that killed police officers defending the USA Constitution while trying to do it all over again with Trump in 2024 is highly unethical in any book one looks. It may even be illegal.

...And now, (click here) in case you thought things could not get weirder, we have Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Yes, the staid and stuffy highest court in the land has produced a genuine scandal.

While her husband has been hearing appeals brought before the court by Trump’s lawyers seeking to block lawsuits and investigations into the events surrounding the attack on the United States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, it turns out Ginni Thomas has been agitating to get Trump back into the White House and Joe Biden thrown out....

Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, (click here) told the Jan. 6 panel during lengthy testimony Thursday that she still believes false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump, according to the panel’s chair.

“The information was typical of a lot of information we received from other people who were involved in this effort around Jan. 6. A lot of: ‘Well, I believed something was wrong,’” select committee chair Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), told reporters Thursday of Thomas’ testimony. “She was one of those people we wanted to talk to and, ultimately, we eventually got there.”...

Who are these people the GOP put in office, anyway? Co-conspirators? If nothing else, these guys are receiving "kick backs." Seemingly unrelated issues are not unrelated at all and the black line on the disclosure form PROVES intent.

A true “working CEO,” Brian focuses his practice on trial and appellate work in the class action, employment, energy, commercial contract, and product liability areas, serving as counsel in high-profile cases throughout the United States....

For nearly two years beginning in 2015, (click here) Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch sought a buyer for a 40-acre tract of property he co-owned in rural Granby, Colo.

Nine days after he was confirmed by the Senate for a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court, the then-circuit court judge got one: The chief executive of Greenberg Traurig, one of the nation’s biggest law firms with a robust practice before the high court. Gorsuch owned the property with two other individuals.

On April 16 of 2017, Greenberg’s Brian Duffy put under contract the 3,000-square foot log home on the Colorado River and nestled in the mountains northwest of Denver, according to real estate records.

He and his wife closed on the house a month later, paying $1.825 million, according to a deed in the county’s record system. Gorsuch, who held a 20 percent stake, reported making between $250,001 and $500,000 from the sale on his federal disclosure forms.

Gorsuch did not disclose the identity of the purchaser. That box was left blank....

A lot of the dialogue of personal family trips and cozy relationships is all fine and good, then recuse and remove any trace of doubt to the decisions made by the remaining justices. But, alas, the remaining justices might evenly split and not go the way the Associate Justice would like it the outcome to go in favor of his cozy family friend. THIS IS CORRUTION! These are ethic violations. They ARE reason for actions against them.

Simply put. THIS IS A VIOLATION OF THE PUBLIC TRUST! It takes a lot of trust to appoint an American to the Supreme Court for an indefinite period of time which could be a lifetime. Americans have a right to peace of mind in the decisions being made at the highest court. This is not peace of mind. There is a huge absence of moral turpitude.

What was Gorsuch thinking, "But, the property was really difficult to unload. Making it look like it impedes my ability to conduct a fair hearing might mean I have to buy it back." That is not moral conduct.

Maybe they all need to be more like Late Associate Justice David Souter.

AT HOME David Souter at his farmhouse in New Hampshire.

...None of this held any appeal for David Souter, (click here) who after returning home from his Rhodes scholarship at Magdalen College, Oxford, crossed the Atlantic only once again, for a reunion there. Who needed Paris if you had Boston, he would remark to friends. When the court is in recess, he gets in his Volkswagen and heads to Weare, N.H., to the small farmhouse that was home to his parents and grandparents.

This pattern gave rise to a widespread view of Justice Souter as a misfit or a loner, not quite in touch with modern life. But to focus on his eccentricities — his daily lunch of yogurt and an apple, core and all; the absence of a computer in his personal office — is to miss the essence of a man who in fact is perfectly suited to his job, just not to its trappings. His polite but persistent questioning of lawyers who appear before the court displays his meticulous preparation and his mastery of the case at hand and the cases relevant to it. Far from being out of touch with the modern world, he has simply refused to surrender to it control over aspects of his own life that give him deep contentment: hiking, sailing, time with old friends, reading history.

“History provides an antidote to cynicism about the past,” he said at a meeting in March of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, of which he is a fellow. His participation in a session on the importance of studying the humanities was a rare out-of-court public appearance and therefore attracted news coverage. The take-away quotation from the session was his remark that as each new Supreme Court term began, he prepared himself to undergo “sort of an annual intellectual lobotomy” — a remark that, out of context, seemed baffling and oddly alienated. What he meant was clear from the prepared portion of his talk: that the demands of the term tore him away from the serious reading he sees as essential to the job....

Remember him? He was always lauded as a GOP disappointment. Really?

I guess if a Republican can't win an election fairly, Souter might seem a disappointment.

A federal judge on Monday (click here) moved to speed up efforts to supply Jan. 6 investigators with a crucial set of emails from John Eastman, the attorney who helped develop then-President Donald Trump’s strategy to subvert the 2020 election.

U.S. District Court Judge David Carter, based in California, specifically ordered an expedited schedule to review efforts by Eastman to shield 568 pages of emails — all sent and received between Jan. 4 and Jan. 7, 2021 — from the Jan. 6 select committee....

...Eastman became a central player in developing Trump’s legal strategy to pressure Vice President Mike Pence to unilaterally overturn the 2020 election on Jan. 6, 2021. Pence, who presided over a joint session of Congress that day required to finalize Joe Biden’s victory, ultimately refused to go along, despite pressure from Trump and his allies. But his decision inflamed a pro-Trump mob that had encircled the Capitol and preceded a violent breach that threatened the transfer of power....

There is nothing wrong with a gathering of law clerks for the sake of fellowship, unless, it is to pollute the court with political conspiracy to change the government of the United States of America. Right, Ginny?

“In July 2021, dozens of former clerks of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas (click here) gathered for a reunion at the Greenbrier resort in West Virginia, a casual weekend of horseback riding and panel lectures with spouses and children,” the Washington Post reports.

“Photos from the event show beaming former clerks with Thomas and his wife, Virginia, who goes by Ginni. In one image posted to social media, she offers the camera two thumbs up. To her left, smiling in a maroon polo shirt, is John Eastman, the architect of the legal strategy that former president Donald Trump had used six months earlier to try to overturn his 2020 election loss…”

“The Supreme Court justice and the lawyer who worked to help Trump try to overturn the election have a remarkable relationship that dates back more than three decades and that began years before Eastman served as Thomas’s clerk and before Thomas joined the bench.”...

"The Power" of "the bench" is the third leg of American democracy. It seems a shame it is being used to subvert the democracy that created that power to protect citizens from corrupt power and oppressive government.

Eastman was after Pence. It is he, on Trump's behalf, that was attempting to influence Pence's role in the January 6th insurrection. These are not friendly conversations, they are conversations of sedition, sometimes in the name of a god.

The truth should not be so difficult to obtain and the intentions made obvious, except, the facts bear out a far different path then one of upholding the USA Constitution. There is a lot here with the Robert's Court in regard to "the appearance" of corruption and the facts. The facts have brevity, the inference that it only appears that way is smoke and mirrors. In all instances to obtain the truth, obstruction is the method most frequently used to hide from the American people. Why? There can be only one reason. The parties involved like money because of the power it supplies them for personal agendas. Neal Gorsuch's case is probably the most revealing to personal agendas and his willingness to be corrupt for the sake of money.

The Robert's Court has many problems and corruption is at the center of them. The Supreme Court is not suppose to be concerned with money, power and politics, it is supposed to uphold The Rule of Law. The Supreme Court is not supposed to violate the sensibilities of the American people with their personal agendas. It is called ethics. The Robert's Court cares little about the American people so much as their own agendas.

Everyone on the call should check their communication lines for communist spies.

The communists never do anything without aggression in mind. I have to wonder if NATO will continue its support for the war if not included in the talks. It cannot be ignored that the Chinese are not only trying to change the world's favored currency, but, the definition of words. I haven't seen the new Chinese dictionary, but, the word sovereignty must mean "only of communist possession."

European countries (click here) are demanding answers from Beijing after its top diplomat in Paris questioned the sovereignty of former Soviet republics, in comments that could undermine China’s efforts to be seen as a potential mediator between Russia and Ukraine.

The remarks by China’s ambassador to France Lu Shaye, who said during a television interview that former Soviet countries don’t have “effective status in international law,” have caused diplomatic consternation, especially in the Baltic states....

The Kremlin said (click here) on Wednesday it could seize more Western assets in retaliation for foreign moves against Russian companies, after taking temporary control of assets belonging to two European state-owned utilities.

President Vladimir Putin late on Tuesday signed a decree placing the Russian assets of Finland's Fortum (FORTUM.HE) and Germany's Uniper (UN01.DE), which both operate power plants in Russia, under Moscow's control. Russia made clear that the move could be reversed....

Fortum is the parent company of Uniper (click here). This is more than sanctions. They are not the same thing. If Russia continues it's aggression against Europe's energy sector and tries to impact it's economy more, NATO needs to think about bringing Russian companies and properties into nationalized status. This is a highly aggressive move by Russia. I don't see Xi complaining it is impacting his peace proposals.

The financial sector of the Free World made it's money a long time ago on it's assets. Being able to sell the Russian investments is more or less an added bonus. I am sure all NATO governments are looking at the cost to companies of exiting Russia peacefully. To be completely honest, every CEO should take these events with Russia seriously and should always have been prepared for a change in wind in communist countries regardless the current stability. Foreign investments outside of allies is risky business.

First "Earth Day" was 1970. 53 years ago. It is not looking good.

"A question of survival."

Wall Street has toyed with the fact we have been in a climate crisis for decades, if not a century. Henry Ford, the maker of the auto warned of carbon dioxide emissions when he founded his car company. He believed an electric car would be prudent.

Human beings have postponed the change needed to bring about a peaceful troposphere. So far, the polluters have won. They are still racking in profits over the very nature of Earth without even one moment of reflection as to the cost of pollution of greenhouse gases.

The graph above was issued by the "Climate Prediction Center." I hope everyone is paying attention. There are absolutely no predictions of the climate resulting in cooler than normal weather.

If the climate is not "Equal Chances" which would indicate a normal temperature range this spring and summer, then the temperatures are rising. The majority of the USA will receive higher than normal temperatures as spring and summer arrive. The increases are significant. The smallest increase in average temperature is 33 percent or a multiple of 0.33. That is not a minor change. That is somewhat catastrophic.

If an average temperature were 80 degrees Fahrenheit, then the equation would result in a temperature 24 degrees higher.

80 X 0.33 = 24 plus 80 (the norm) = 104 degrees Fahrenheit

That is the new normal, huh?

Petroleum profits over life on Earth. That is what has resulted for the past 53 years. The petroleum industry has spent money, primarily to influence elections through advertisements on media services, to state the climate crisis is a lie. It isn't. It never has been.

Since 1970 there have been all kinds of obstructive behaviors in the private sector. The climate, along with guns, are the most deadly political paradigms that have ever existed. I realize the medications women look to receive from their doctors is also an unrealistic political target, but, it exists doesn't it? An entire political sector of the USA just doesn't care about life within the country's borders or on Earth. To them it is nothing but nonsense so Democrats can spend money into the coffers of their constituents. That is called corruption and not the climate crisis. Those are grossly opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to truth telling. Corruption regarding the climate crisis was never proven and now the proof is in the column of reality.

In the video the demographics of the groups of people are believed to have been young, Caucasian and receiving education as their current profession. That was 1970. I was a sophomore in high school. I was among the demonstrators to demand action to stop polluting Earth of any kind of gas, including greenhouse gases. That was 53 years ago and I never took my eye off the ball. The predictions Wall Street laughed at in 1970 are no longer predictions, it is the truth with abundant proof.

I am a scientist. I was a science major then. There is absolutely no reason to doubt the severity of the pollution or its ramifications. Gaseous pollution kills in the way of NOX and SOX that cause acid rain. But, the particular type of danger with greenhouse gases has been more insidious to the lives of Americans.

In 1962 Rachel Carson, a great American by any measure, wrote "Silent Spring" to bring about an awakening to the dangers of rampant mishandling of chemicals in then modern society. She would die of breast cancer, but, her message is very much alive today. I would say her message along with the many scientists heralding the awakening to the dangers of high levels of greenhouse gases are more relevant today then decades ago. They were right and today there is ample proof to their warnings. Their work was vital and important and yes, would demand a major paradigm shift in economics to protect Earth's delicate balance. It is the economic paradigm shift that has been all too threatening and it is that same corrupt economic system and it's refusal to bend to the will of "what is best" that is still a danger to us all.

Sometime next month, (click here) SpaceX will likely try to launch the largest rocketship ever flown, known as the Starship. If successful, this flight will herald a new space age, as humanity opens the solar system. This begs the question: Will it fail or will it succeed? And if it fails, what will it mean?...

Where is everyone going? There are more and more space companies building starships all the time. Why? Where ya goin'? Escape from Earth? That is a fantasy. Interplanetary travel is far from fathomable except in a movie. If the monies, private and public, were spent on SECURING the only home humans have FIRST, the rest would be understandable and a pursuit that could be more casual and exact. But, to sacrifice the only home human beings have while racing into outer space is about as stupid as it comes.

The message on "Earth Day 2023" is obvious. THEY WERE RIGHT. The scientists, the naturalists, the conservationists, the environmentalists were all correct in every aspect of their predictions.

I have a question. Just one.

"When will all the knowledge that brought correct predictions about the dangers to Earth's climate mean enough to change the way we think about Earth as a priority and not a political choice?"

'Why did you shoot my daddy and me?' 6-year-old Kinsley White asked in an emotional interview.

April 21, 2023
By Peter Charalambous

Gaston County - A North Carolina man (click here) allegedly shot a 6-year-old girl, her parents and an additional neighbor after a basketball rolled into his yard, ABC News reported.

The suspect, Robert Louis Singletary, 24, turned himself in on Thursday to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Tampa, Florida, the Gaston County Police Department said....

To begin bullet wounds are NEVER a minor injury. It is really lousy a six year old child is a victim to idiotic anger.

The Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground have no limitations and expose innocent, unwitting people to violence they never thought possible. The laws brought to state law since George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin are far too loose in their definition and the gun lobby likes it that way.

There needs to be federal legislation to end the shooting sprees in the country. There needs to be legislation that requires a crime being committed within the boundaries of a property or home before "force" is allowed to be used. In none of the incidents over the past week or so where there warnings of any kind before shots were fired. The idea a person can make a wrong turn into a driveway or knock at the wrong door and be met with their death at the barrel of a gun is simply unconscionable.

The federal legislation must require actual crimes that will harm to justify any use of a gun or any other force to end an American's life. These state laws are extremely dangerous. These laws are allowing and even encouraging violence against "the other" when there is no basis to justify it. A property border is no excuse for killing. Trespassing is decided by a judge with a sentence to match the crime.

The Fourth Amendment to the USA Constitution states, the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

When Americans arm themselves and take the law into their own hands they are acting as police, judge and jury and they violate the rights of "the other." These state gun laws violate the Fourth Amendment unjustifiably end the life of those without malice or intent to do harm. A property boundary is not the definition of the right to kill. These laws are outrageous in the danger they bring to every American life.

This was going to happen here. This level of violence has become the trademark of the NRA and other gun rights groups in countries other than the USA. The permission for social violence has arrived. It is time to stop it!

Are there any grown-ups left in the Florida State Government?

56 people on Florida's Death Row have been executed in the past 20 years (click here)

Florida leads the nation with 30 innocent people (click here) exonerated from death row since 1973, while 99 people have been executed. That’s one innocent person freed for every three people executed.

Florida exonerated demographic information from DPIC Innocence List – 57% Black, 17% Latino, 27% White

Three-fourths (22 of 30) exonerated Florida Death Row survivors are people of color....

Florida will now only require an 8–4 majority (click here) for a jury to recommend a death sentence. Alabama is the only other state that allows split juries to recommend death sentences....

This is all political harassment. The State of Florida is on a political rampage to be the most extremist of all Red States to attempt to ensure their governor's nomination for president for the GOP.

I think this gets real simple. Disney should file a harassment complaint against the State of Florida demanding damages. Additionally, Disney should purchase the land surrounding Disney World and create it's own electrical energy with wind and solar. Just that simple. It is time Disney have it's own utilities to support the theme park. It is still a popular destination with Americans as well as foreign travelers.

Disney is not about "just Disney." There is an enormous investment in the area by nearly every hotel chain in the country. There are also other theme parks that receive plenty of visitors that spend money who bring the family for vacation that includes Disney World.

The State of Florida is obviously focused on Disney for some sort of vengeance campaign. If there is corruption than the SBI and the Attorney General should address it. If there is no corruption and Orlando is offering Disney contracts to help support business due to it's popularity, then welcome to the USA where nearly every municipality in the country makes concessions to businesses to bring an economy, including employment to their cities.

Disney is being harassed through it's theme park in Orlando, Florida and it is a national shame.

...A Disney subsidiary, (click here) which provides utility services to the central Florida district that includes the Walt Disney World Resort, negotiated an agreement in February to extend its contract through 2032, Chairman Martin Garcia said at a public meeting. Disney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

"Last Friday afternoon I learned for the first time about one of these new 11th hour agreements entered into between Disney and the district. This one relates to our utility services," Garcia said. "We'll have to evaluate the legality of that agreement, that essentially enables Disney to set their utility rates.

"I've never heard of such a thing," Garcia said.

Get out of Russia and stay out of Russia. NOW!

Since the invasion of Ukraine (click here) began, we have been tracking the responses of well over 1,200 companies, and counting...

There is nothing that is going to change the path Russia is on. I have watched Vladimir Putin for most of his time in the presidency of Russia. In his early years following presidents that truly realized the impossible nature of national security for Russia, Putin was more than a reasonable man and a friend to the Free World. I think the Free World was mostly in denial of the sincere nature of Vladimir Putin except for the Late Senator John McCain who stated,
"He's an old KGB aperachik who wants to restore the Russian Empire". McCain was the only one that got it right.

The current state of affairs in Russia has been rolled out over the past decade. It is all documented on this blog. The appeal to the Russian diaspora to come home only to be met with gradually contracting rights to dual citizenships. The citizens of Russia have witnessed their country become a pariah in the world and now they have witnessed the annihilation of at least thousands of young Russian men if not tens of thousands. It is at least tens of thousands when considering those that fled the country.

Vladimir Putin has invested in the Communist Party in Russia. As a party it was on the back burner until the election of 2012 when the communists began to migrate to the Communist Party candidates in an impressive way. By 2018, Putin had played to the communists and they migrated their vote back to him. It was since the election of 2012 that Putin has sold his soul and made the communists his primary focus.

The advancement of Putin's Russia to retake the old Russian Empire has always been at the center of his ambitions, but, until 2012 it was a distant dream that was mostly unrealistic in the modern world. Putin was a dyed in the wool capitalist by then and the Free World seemed to have economic viability right as far as the communists of Russia and China were concerned. The two largest communist countries mimicked capitalism as they slowly turned away from any hint of democracy to autocracy. China made it obvious to all Wall Street companies that they would always receive government supervision and take over if necessary with the arrest of Jack Ma (click here).

If any entity that values their freedom and life actually thinks Russia is in flux and this will pass is in profound denial. If the entity is a Wall Street company, the CEO needs to realize Russia is a losing proposition and the money ain't worth it. If a Wall Street company is still trying to balance communism into policy for the sake of a bonus this year, forget it, that CEO doesn't value human life and their employees should register human rights violations. The taking of Evan Gershkovich is a human rights violation. He should not have been allowed to stay in the country and every other Free World journalist needs to leave NOW! The Duma has set laws in place to oppress any expression of the truth. It is the place of the Russian people to run their communists out of power, not that of the Free Press!

Experts (click here) say Evan Gershkovich may face harsh treatment in Russian custody....

...For the next four years in Maine, (click here) Simon and Evan were inseparable, always roommates, and became the best of friends. Every visit Tanya and I made to campus always started with a trip to Evan’s room or a meal with him. We learned that he was the son of Russian immigrants that had both fled the Soviet Union when Russian Jews left en masse in the late 70s to find a better way of life, that his first language was Russian, and that he was a true romantic. Any visit with Evan included a heartfelt discussion on the state of his love life. Their sophomore year he and Simon wrote a screenplay together. It was clear, back then, both of them could really write. I’m still not sure they loved getting my notes.

Whenever he traveled west, Evan stayed at our home, and when he got his first job interning at the New York Times, he gave me a tour of their offices, sneaking me into places he wasn’t supposed to take guests.

“What the hell. Let’s go up there. What’s the worst thing that can happen? They’ll kick us out? It’s not like they’re gonna fire an intern over it.”

I remember when Evan got his first article published. I found a back and forth set of correspondences from 2017 where we talked about our excitement for his initial human interest columns that ran in the Paper of Record. That same month I was headed to his hometown, on a college tour with my youngest, and Evan wrote me an impressive dissertation on the joys of Hoagie Haven in Princeton. We made sure to try it and, not surprisingly, it was a little piece of culinary heaven. The name was accurate....

There is no further need for abusive border policies.

Title 42 will be ending May 11, 2023 and the Governor of Texas has been unhappy (click here) about it because sheriffs are unhappy about it. Currently, there are bills in the Texas legislature that over reach into federal authority when it comes to border crossings at the USA southern border.

The chart is from US Custom and Border Protection (click here).

The chart clearly shows the majority of illegal border crossings are single adults; not families or minors, but, single adults.

President Biden has already addressed the issue.

By Nick Miroff

...Biden’s asylum rule, (click here) according to the proposal, will “encourage migrants to avail themselves of lawful, safe, and orderly pathways into the United States, or otherwise to seek asylum or other protection in countries through which they travel, thereby reducing reliance on human smuggling networks that exploit migrants for financial gain.”...

...will likely take effect before the May 11 expiration of the pandemic-era public health restrictions known as Title 42....

Texas does not have to and should not create state laws that over reach into federal jurisdiction or create human rights violations. It is pure vigilantism that includes a court outside the jurisdiction of federal law.

The Governor's Operation Lone Star was a complete failure (click here) attracting more and more border crossings during it's 18 months existence. Operation Lone Star can account for the border crossing increases attributed to President Biden.

April 12, 2023

...Today, Human Rights Watch (click here) respectfully asks this Committee to oppose HB 20 (click here) and HB 7 (click here). Together, the bills amount to a dangerous and extreme effort to expand Texas’ border policing program including the creation of a state-sponsored vigilante border protection unit and the codification and expansion of a border policing, court, and jailing system that has to date resulted in injuries, deaths, racial discrimination, abusive detention conditions, and a chilling effect on freedoms of association and expression....

The drug cartels are killing Americans. The money is a buy product, not their goal.

...And even though he dreamed of quitting the Sinaloa cartel and finding a regular job, he also knew that the most likely way of leaving a criminal group is either as a prisoner or as a corpse....

The U.S. Department of Justice (click here) has charged 28 members of the Sinaloa Cartel, including drug kingpin El Chapo’s sons.

Attorney General Merrick Garland said the indictment charges Sinaloa Cartel members with trafficking fentanyl and other drugs, engaging in money laundering, committing murder, and other violent crimes.

The charges were unsealed in the Southern District of New York, Northern District of Illinois, and District of Columbia and detailed in a news release.

Mr. Garland said multiple agency enforcement actions were taken “against the largest, most violent, and most prolific fentanyl trafficking operation in the world, run by the Sinaloa Cartel, and fueled by Chinese precursor chemical and pharmaceutical companies.”

The Mexican and Chinese governments have denied their role in producing and trafficking fentanyl into the U.S. primarily through the southern border.

Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said “the fentanyl crisis in America – fueled in large part by the Sinaloa cartel” is not only a public health issue but a national security issue.

The indictments “target every element of the Sinaloa Cartel’s trafficking network,” Ms. Monoco said, “from the chemical companies in China that spawn fentanyl precursors, to the illicit labs that produce the poison, to the networks and money launderers and murderers that facilitate its distribution.”...

White Supremacist murderers walk free in the fight for the Republican nomination for president.

Daniel Perry and his family walk into a Travis County courtroom on March 23. Perry was convicted in the murder of protester Garrett Foster during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests in Austin

The fate of an Army sergeant Daniel Perry, (click here) who was found guilty of fatally shooting a protester at a Black Lives Matter demonstration in 2020, is up in the air as the Texas pardon board reviews the conviction for a possible pardon at the governor’s request and Perry’s attorney pushes for a retrial.

On April 7th, Perry, a 35-year-old active duty sergeant at Fort Hood, was convicted of murder in connection with the death of Garrett Foster, 27, who was killed after Perry shot him during a protest in Austin, Texas, in July 2020. Perry claims he acted in self-defense because he feared for his life after Foster, who was carrying an assault rifle under Florida’s open carry law, allegedly made him feel threatened....

A White 84-year-old homeowner (click here) who allegedly shot and wounded Ralph Yarl, a Black teen, after the 16-year-old went to the wrong home to pick up his siblings will face two felony charges, Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Zachary Thompson announced early Monday evening.

Andrew Lester will face charges of assault in the first degree and armed criminal action. Authorities have issued a warrant for his arrest and he’s not currently in custody, Thompson said.

“I can tell you there was a racial component to this case,” Thompson said at a news conference without elaborating.

When asked whether Lester may also face hate crime charges, the prosecutor said that in Missouri, a hate crime is a lower level of felony, and that adding such charges could constitute double jeopardy. A probable cause document released Monday evening similarly doesn’t shine any light on why authorities believe race played a role in this case.

There is no indication that Lester or Ralph spoke to one another before the Thursday evening shooting, Thompson said. The prosecutor added there is no evidence that the teen entered the home and preliminary evidence shows Lester opened fire on the teen through a glass door with a .32 caliber revolver....

There is a state of emergency in the USA as guns are out of control. The Republicans are responsible for gun laws that invoke fear of the other while creating anarchy with people taking the law into their own hands.

A man has been charged with second-degree murder (click here) in the US after he allegedly shot and killed a 20-year-old woman as the car she was in mistakenly drove up the man's driveway.

Kaylin Gillis was with three other people in New York state on Saturday.

They accidentally drove into the driveway of Kevin Monahan in the town of Hebron, police say.

As the driver was leaving, Mr Monahan, 65, allegedly opened fire on the vehicle, hitting Ms Gillis.

"This is a very sad case of some young adults who were looking for a friend's house and ended up at this man's house who decided to come out with a firearm and discharge it," Washington Country Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy told a news conference.

The area is rural, and the driveways are poorly lit at night. None of the group had exited the vehicle or attempted to enter Mr Monahan's house before he allegedly opened fire, Mr Murphy said....

"The Castle Doctrine" needs to be outlawed federally. The Castle Doctrine is not about self-defense. The old self-defense gun laws were the most correct. No one can use deadly force against "the other" unless within the four walls of the residence and not if the perpetrator or home invader is exiting the residence. There had to be a clear and present danger under the old laws that stood for a century.

The castle doctrine (click here) refers to an exception to the duty to retreat before using deadly self-defense if a party is in their own home.

Under the doctrine of self-defense, a party who reasonably believes they are threatened with the immediate use of deadly force can legally respond with a proportional amount of force to deter that threat. The doctrine of self-defense is subject to various restrictions which differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

One such restriction on self-defense is the rule to retreat. In jurisdictions that follow the rule to retreat, a party is not entitled to a defense of self-defense unless they first tried to mitigate the necessity of force by fleeing the situation, so long as retreating could be done safely. That said, in jurisdictions that follow the castle doctrine, this restriction has an exception for parties in their own home. A party in their own home does not have a duty to retreat and, therefore, is entitled to a defense of self-defense so long as the other requirements of the defense are met.

The castle doctrine exists in both common law and Model Penal Code jurisdictions....

The Castle Doctrine is anarchy.
