An extraordinary to demonstrate the new leadership and it's sincerity in Iran.

Mrs. Sotoudeh has made the point there are others in Iranian prisons she is worried about. Of course there are, but, this is one of the best beginnings I could have hoped for in such a short period of time for the new Iranian President.

I choose to recognize the greatness in this and not remain skeptical of his insincerity. There is no insincerity in the fact Mrs. Sotoudeh is with her family today. That is a wonderful gesture and much appreciated. I do believe the children have a smile on their faces along with a husband elated to have his wife at home.

There is no doubt Mrs. Sotoudeh sees much work before her, but, at least now she can conduct her work and not simply hope to do it. She can be grateful for at least that. She doesn't see the sincerity in her freedom?

Human rights lawyer (click here) Nasrin Sotoudeh, seen by campaign groups as Iran’s highest profile political prisoner, was freed yesterday, in another sign that hardline policies may be easing under a new president.
Other prisoners linked to the mass protests after the disputed 2009 re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad were also freed, opposition website Kaleme reported, raising hopes among activists for a possible reconciliation between Iran’s conservative religious leadership and its pro-reform critics....

Jeb Bush fully expects to run for President in 2016 and win.

He has an agenda and it is time to bring it on, you see.

Former Gov. Jeb Bush (click here) on Wednesday called the Justice Department’s lawsuit against Louisiana over school vouchers possible “payback for political elections of the past.”
Bush, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina addressed the National Press Club in protest of the suit. The Louisiana Scholarship Program provides low-income students with the option of transferring from poorly performing public schools into private schools on the public dime....

It is time to put the USA into full automation. Education by computer in a home school option for the poor. No more formal public classrooms. And, of course, brother hooked on hookers will supply the fully automated educational software.

Americans, no different the the Iraqi people, will be grateful. Jeb will be welcome to the Presidency like a returning WWII veteran.

A nice, big, wet kiss with America.

Then comes the final blow to the Middle Class when corporations are put in charge of supplying complete automation in transportation. No, not high speed rail. Nope, that isn't it. This is better than life itself.

Driverless autos and trucks to make the American road completely safe. It is as simple as turning on your mobile phone. Then the GPS takes over and whether one is drunk or not there is always a 'safe ride.' A parent can even send their children to school without getting out of bed.

The life of the elite. Finally, The Bush Dreamscape comes true, plush luxury for all. No matter the destruction of the Middle Class, they all are liberals and want to walk anyway. Besides, there is the rail thing they do. No matter that the Big Tent won't hold any job growth and will cause yet another Bush Recession. What difference does that make? The people funding him don't ever loss their wealth and when Jeb gets done there will be no more unions and everyone in the USA will be clamoring to be either soldiers for that war in the Pacific, or employees in China where wages will exceed that of any USA job. Ah, memories of Iraq and Private Contractors hanging from bridges; the truly brave.

And no more poorly funded public schools. That's drag, man. There will only be "No Child Left Behind" in every virtual classroom in the country.

Ooops, the Former Governor will have to call "Common Core" something else now.

@MarcACaputo

Miami-Dade’s Republican Party (click here) voted overwhelmingly Tuesday night to oppose the Common Core education standards as an unconstitutional “inappropriate overreach” by the federal government.
The two-page resolution, part of a grassroots conservative revolt sweeping Florida and the nation, was partly a stand against President Obama as well as former Republican Gov. Jeb Bush, who helped build the Miami-Dade Republican Party and chaired it in 1984.
Bush, the “education governor,” has recently been a leading voice advocating for Common Core, a series of standards that are new national benchmarks outlining what students should know at each grade level in each topic.
Common Core does not prescribe specific teaching methods and reading lists....

And on health care. What health care? Jeb Bush believes in "Terry's Law." No problem, when health care fails there will be human efforts for the dying.

With Terri Schindler-Schiavo’s (click here) judge-ordered starvation well into its fourth day, it is clear to her family and supporters that Florida Gov. Jeb Bush probably will not step in and prevent her death, despite indications earlier this week.

Social Security and Medicare? No, problem. His Presidential rhetoric will include 'never a day of worry for our Seniors.' No problem, let's fully fund all the entitlements with the general treasury fund and crank up the CPI, UNCHAIN IT and run the cost well above 50% in order to destroy the enter mess once and for all. "W" tried with Medicare Prescription Program, but, it hasn't taken the full toll intended yet. I mean no one really believed demanding "Trade Brand Only" was about quality, do they? No matter, let's just move forward to destroy the system once and for all. Oh, I know, he was the SSI and Medicare King in Florida, but, that only really tells the tale of the Florida economy, now doesn't it?

And it won't be right to pass Immigration Reform before Bush and Rubio get to the White House. I mean why vote for a Democrat when Obama was never able to deliver on his promises only to have it happen again?

I look at it this way. If Jeb Bush was sincerely interested in seeing immigration reform, where is his endorsement NOW!

Yes, indeed, there is an agenda and all Jeb's Humble Pie is a portrait of an attractive candidate that has to be cajoled into his bully pulpit waiting in the West Wing.

Ms. Ester George, the only "No" vote to Bernanke's QE3.

New Kansas City Federal Reserve President and CEO Esther George was the keynote speaker for the MSBF annual meeting Feb. 7. Her parents were among among the audience.

March, 2012

...George said (click here) the seriousness of the recession was due to its combination of causes, including the housing bubble and over-extended debt by everyone from consumers to banks and businesses. While de-leveraging continues, she noted businesses are making important moves.

“Business investment continues to be strong,” she noted. “Business are not hiring, but they are up-grading equipment and technology to position themselves for growth. That’s especially true of small business.”

George noted a rally in early 2011 was stymied by oil price increases, the Japanese earthquake and European economics. Foreseeable concerns for 2012 include continued U.S. debt and Europe’s economy. She predicted that balancing the nation’s fiscal policy would also be difficult issue, with long-term inflation a concern. The jump in farmland prices spurred by easily leveraged investment is one example....

Today she stated:

"I think it is time to begin to adjust those purchases. The labor market has shown now, for the last six months, pretty steady gains of close to 200,000 per month. That is a good indicator that there has been sustained improvement here and that I think it would be appropriate, given the size of our balance sheet, given the level of accommodation, that we begin to make adjustments that reflect that improvement as we go forward."

North Carolina county board of education bans ‘Invisible Man’ from school libraries.

First published in 1952 (click here) and immediately hailed as a masterpiece, Invisible Man is one of those rare novels that have changed the shape of American literature. For not only does Ralph Ellison's nightmare journey across the racial divide tell unparalleled truths about the nature of bigotry and its effects on the minds of both victims and perpetrators, it gives us an entirely new model of what a novel can be.

As he journeys from the Deep South to the streets and basements of Harlem, from a horrifying "battle royal" where black men are reduced to fighting animals, to a Communist rally where they are elevated to the status of trophies, Ralph Ellison's nameless protagonist ushers readers into a parallel universe that throws our own into harsh and even hilarious relief. Suspenseful and sardonic, narrated in a voice that takes in the symphonic range of the American language, black and white, Invisible Man is one of the most audacious and dazzling novels of our century.

Randolph County in North Carolina is littered with problems, including high drug abuse rates. The county is over 90% Caucasian. There are 6.1% Black Americans. Those children, young people and adults victimized by this act of hatred have the right to be proud of their heritage and exonerated from the hate expressed to them by their Board of Education.

Mr. Ellison is an American Author. He should be held in endearment and not ridiculed.

The current unemployment rate in Randolph County, NC is 9.1%; one of the highest in the nation. The politicians are seeking to distract from that by enforcing hatred, bigotry and racism. This is the Board of Education. These are children and young people they are expressing hatred toward. Those young people's lives are now at risk.

Someone needs to seek justice regarding this act. The book needs to replaced immediately and returned to the book shelves. Somewhere along the timeline of the school system this American author was valued and endeared. That esteem needs to be returned.

A central North Carolina school district (click here) voted to remove Ralph Ellison’s “Invisible Man” from county school libraries this week.
The Randolph County Board of Education voted 5-2 Monday to suppress the seminal 1952 work on the oppressive social climate that African Americans faced in the early 20th century.

The book was originally flagged by the parent of an 11th grader at Randleman High School, who found the language and sexual content of the book objectionable.

Despite recommendations against outlawing the book from libraries by school- and district-level committees, the Board of Education voted unanimously in favor of a ban.

Those who voted in support of the book’s removal were Board Chair Tommy McDonald and members Tracy Boyles, Gary Cook, Matthew Lambeth, and Gary Mason. Voting against the action were Board Vice Chair Emily Coltrane and member Todd Cutler...

Maher and Moore are correct. The Republicans scream to hide their hatred of democracy.

Anarchists do hate democracy. There is only one reason why an anarchist is elected to office and it is to end the government. Where have I heard that before?

Anarchy has more than one definition. Some use the term "anarchy" to refer to a society without a publicly enforced government. When used in this sense, anarchy may or may not be intended to imply political disorder or lawlessness within a society.

If anarchists sincerely wanted to dismantle the government at any level; how do they win the confidence of the citizen?

Why not represent the belief in police and the military? Sound right? Stand for the 'righteous' belief systems of the people while defunding and abandoning the government.

Treason - the crime of betraying one's country, esp. by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.

The Civil War was treason. Civil war is the last fig leaf. Once the sovereign is breached there is no going back unless one is willing to face trial.

Cutting S.N.A.P. when the nation is in need of it is defunding the government. While the Republicans cut S.N.A.P., they are refusing to listen to President Obama and provide The American Jobs Act to counter the loss of income to buy food and provide shelter. Can't be both and be an American legislator. Not without a huge question to the oath of office they took.

“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”
— U.S. Constitution, Article VI, clause 3

The Affordable Care Act is settled law. Defunding it is to act aggressively against the USA Constitution which upholds it.

Congressional Oath of Office

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

The Oath of Office of any Congressman or Congresswoman is to enforce and uphold the USA Constitution and all it's' Amendments, including, all laws of the USA resultant from those founding documents. It is not a list of options. It is not a menu of choices of the law they want to support. It is a requirement.

There is an opportunity for Pro Gun Control Advocates in all this.

I do have a life and I don't appreciate chasing down stupid conversation that scares my fellow Americans in order to sell more guns that will ultimately be a danger to them and others. I try to live that life whenever I can.

But.

The Pro-Gun Control Advocates need to engage the Red State Voters about gun control in a way that will cause them to respond to tragedies.

It goes something like this:

"On September 18, 2013, a gunman enabled by possessing ammunition and guns entered a what was suppose to be a federal secure facility and killed many people. There are many ways of addressing this problem and taking away the right to own a gun responsibly is not one of them. But, there has to be a moral solution to ending gun violence in the USA and we would like you to join us by writing your State Representative supporting gun control while responsible gun owners enjoy their rights."

It will make an impression if the populous of a state and/or locality is exposed to that message of compassion. It will bring them into the picture rather than sequester them to extremists and they will begin to look for problem solving from their elected representatives at all levels of government.

The reason I bring this up is because there is always the very real designation of "Country vs City." We are all in this together and that is really quite obvious as New York City quite correctly complains about gun migration from other states.

Think about it. Growing consensus is important regardless of the political affiliations. These are issues of life and death.

Gun Gateway Issues

Any legislation that does not seek to control migration of guns into and out of a region of the country will CREATE gateway problems. If the legislation is not federal, but, based on states or local governments only; there will be problems with 'gun migration.'

The law itself will create a market for illegal gun migration.

Let's say DC wants to demand mental health certificate for gun and ammunition purchase, that will not end the migration of guns and ammunition from Maryland or Wyoming.

However, if there is a "Gateway Policy" that prohibits guns into a high population city or region of the country it does provide the police and/or ATF the power to confiscate the weapons that have come from other regions of the USA and/or outside the USA, like the straw purchasers that brought USA guns from Mexico. The Mexico thing is a joke, but, for commentators bent on providing 'a reason' for ranting and raving, it is an important focus.

Federal legislation is really important, but, the US Congress has become so stupid about everything there is no reliable value to them. I think that is the purpose of the Republicans. They want to justify the deconstruction of the federal government.

Good luck, for what it is worth in a society that seeks to sell weapons when discussing gun control rather than actually control them. Even language is being deconstructed under First Amendment Rights.

How many have weapons?

Mental disorders (click here) are common in the United States and internationally. An estimated 26.2 percent of Americans ages 18 and older — about one in four adults — suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year.

26.2 percent of 300 million people is 78,600,000.

The USA needs gun control.

End of discussion.

A data base that size would be cost prohibitive and victimizing. It would provide hideous information to companies and otherwise that would destroy lives.

The cost would be astronomical to build and maintain.

The 'idea' there needs to be a mental health data base to support a gun economy doesn't justify itself.

Nearly every American at some point in time, be it divorce or death of a spouse or child, requires help. The data base is out of the question.

Criminal background checks are the only ones possible because the infrastructure is already there; therefore; a background check is incomplete and will continue to be so. The USA needs gun control.

The longer this stupidity about gun control goes on the more people will die. I have no patience or appetite for it, it is all non-production chatter to sell more guns while there is no gun control.

Immediately going forward, the federal government and/or state governments can demand a gun purchaser (across the board) present a mental health certification to become the owner of that particular gun and/or ammunition. There are lots of pitfalls to that as well, including the indulgences of family, friends and lovers to give or sell guns to those that otherwise can't obtain them. The idea family should be excluded from background checks when passing on weapons will open exploitation of gun violence by over 33%. Everyone selling a gun has to ask for a background check before selling or transferring a weapon to anyone else. Lending a weapon to someone has to assume the responsibility for it's misuse and therefore the one lending the weapon would have to be indicted as well.

The cost for the Mental Health Certification has to be born by the gun purchaser.

The reason for this is the right to own a gun for self-protection. That right does not provide for the right to end the life of others in random violence, domestic violence or self-violence of suicide.

The MOST EFFECTIVE method of handling this is to require the mental health certificate at the time of purchase of ammunition. Can't kill if ya ain't got the bullets.

None of this will ever make it through the US House, as if anything actually does, but, it might assist some States with high population cities. It could be enacted at the level of the local level, namely the county or city. As long as it provides the ability of an 'able' American to responsibly purchase a gun and ammunition it should be constitutional. The unconstitutionality enters when there is complete obstruction for 'able' Americans to purchase. The 'able' status will be challenged as to the definition in courts; count on that. So, the definition has to be precise, but, not victimizing. A 'profile' of the 'able' American is important to maintain integrity of the law. The profile has to allow for various educational levels. There is no IDEAL 'able' citizen, so much as the exclusion from the profile of the 'disabled' American from obtaining ammunition and guns.

Best way to write a profile for the 'able' American is to start with all that comprises personality and then eliminate from there. Then a viable description would be constitutional. Psychiatrists and not psychologists are best to accomplish the profile. Don't use the CIA or FBI, it will fail. Go to prominent universities known for their mental health programs to develop the 'profile' of the 'able' American.

The profile will then provide for a viable and constitutionally worthy law.

BRUSSELS (AP) The European Commission (click here) is seeking to regulate financial benchmarks to prevent market manipulations such as the one involving LIBOR, a critical interest rate banks use to borrow from each other.
The Commission, the executive arm of the 28-nation European Union, on Wednesday unveiled the draft legislation that tightens oversight and introduces stiff fines for manipulations.
Under the proposal, national regulators and a coordinating European body are granted new powers to investigate possible rigging and can issue fines of up to 10 percent of a firm's revenue.
Regulators have accused traders and financial firms of manipulating LIBOR to gain financial advantages. The London interbank offered rate, or LIBOR, underpins trillions of dollars in contracts around the world, including mortgages, bonds and consumer loans.

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia September 18, 2013

Cambodia's U.N.-backed Khmer Rouge tribunal (click here) said Wednesday that it has secured a loan to pay the overdue salaries of its Cambodian staff, 140 of whom have been on strike since the start of the month.

Spokesman Neth Pheaktra said the U.N. had secured the $1.15 million loan from international donors to cover unpaid salaries from June through August.

He said he was optimistic the staff would agree to return to work at the tribunal, which is tasked with seeking justice for atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s....

...While the Khmer Rouge was in power, (click here) they set up policies that disregarded human life and produced repression and massacres on a massive scale. They turned the country into a huge detention center, which later became a graveyard for nearly two million people, including their own members and even some senior leaders.

The Rise of the Khmer Rouge

The Cambodian communist movement emerged from the country’s struggle against French colonization 1940s, and was influenced by the Vietnamese. Fueled by the first Indochina War in the 1950s, and during the next 20 years, the movement took roots and began to grow.
In March 1970, Marshal Lon Nol, a Cambodian politician who had previously served as prime minister, and his pro-American associates staged a successful coup to depose Prince Sihanouk as head of state. At this time, the Khmer Rouge had gained members and was positioned to become a major player in the civil war due to its alliance with Sihanouk. Their army was led by Pol Pot, who was appointed CPK’s party secretary and leader in 1963. Pol Pot, born in Cambodia as Solath Sar, spent time in France and became a member of the French Communist Party. Upon returning to Cambodia in 1953, he joined a clandestine communist movement and began his rise up the ranks to become one of the world’s most infamous dictators....

The tribunal is tasked with seeking justice for atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge in the late 1970s, when an estimated 1.7 million Cambodians died from starvation, disease, forced labor and executions.

This is Cambodia today after a recent election. It is important the tribunals go forward.

PHNOM PENH | Wed Sep 18, 2013 2:09am EDT

(Reuters) - His party (click here) is reeling from its worst-ever election result. His political opponents have grown bold and vocal. His people are protesting on the streets. So why is Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen smiling?

The long-ruling autocrat emerged beaming from lengthy closed-door meetings this week with his old political foe, Sam Rainsy, who says Hun Sen's Cambodian People's Party (CPP) cheated its way to a narrow victory in a July 28 general election.

He has reason to be cheerful. Although lawmakers from Sam Rainsy's Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) are threatening to boycott the new session of parliament, due to begin on Monday, until an independent inquiry is held into electoral fraud, the recent political violence has left Hun Sen mostly unscathed.

Thousands of CNRP supporters dispersed on Tuesday after a three-day rally in a park in the capital, Phnom Penh, where one man was killed and several injured when police opened fire on stone-throwing protesters on Sunday night....

There is a bigger picture. The citizens wear the T-shirts to stave off the possibility of being jailed.

Political unrest in Cambodia: "Everyone here wears Hun Sen t-shirts, but no one voted for him" (click here)

Cambodia's prime minister Hun Sen may be facing the biggest threat yet to his 28-year rule.

Anti-government protests in Cambodia have left at least one protester dead, and have prompted talks between prime minister Hun Sen and his rival, Sam Rainsy. The protestors accuse Hun Sen of rigging July’s elections to secure his majority. Hun Sen is one of the world’s longest serving leaders, having been in power for 28 years, and the Human Rights Watch has accused him of unlawfully detaining or killing political opponents and activists....

Nun Vanak is an excellent example (click here) of how Cambodia's garment manufacturing industry has helped to change lives of hundreds of thousands of people in this country.
The 23-year-old is part of Cambodia's half-a-million-strong workforce - mostly young women - that keeps these garment factories running.
Her income helps to provide for her and her young daughter, and like many others in the factories, she also sends money to her family back home in the village - a trend that has helped boost rural incomes.
But ask Nun, or her friends, whether they would want their daughters to end up as factory workers in the garment industry and the answer is a vehement no....

Cambodia is seeking a thriving tourism industry, but, the political unrest shakes it's ability to achieve stability. The obstructions to success are obvious.

The demonstrators are non-violent, it is the Cambodian authoritarian police are causing the alarm by tourists. The Prime Minister really needs to retire, he is trying to hard to hang on to power for absolutely no reason at all. If anything he is preventing Cambodia from thriving.

There is some speculation there are investors for the nation's natural resources. It is very possible the Prime Minister will receive a 'finder's fee' for his cooperation in exploiting the nation's natural resources. The monies will never benefit the people though. The Prime Minister's power grab is most probably about personal wealth from mining and drilling and gems.

The statement then stresses the “massive non-violent demonstrations” by the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party, which wrapped up a three-day sit-in at Freedom Park yesterday. The CNRP has alleged voter fraud and demanded an investigation. Opposition leader Sam Rainsy and Prime Minister Hun Sen have since met for talks on how to end the stalemate....

It is important Syria go forward with it's movement toward the Chemical Weapons Convention goes forward.

The evidence Syria has is important, but, that is irrelevant to the outcome of the country. If President Assad is stating the chemical weapons fell into the hands of the rebels it is all the more to remove the chemicals from the nation.

MOSCOW (AP) A top Russian diplomat (click here) visiting Damascus says Syria has turned over material aimed at showing that a chemical weapons attack last month was carried out by rebels.
The Aug. 21 attack precipitated the current high tensions over Syria's chemical weapons and sparked a plan under which Syria is to abandon the weapons. A report by U.N. investigators confirmed chemical weapons were used but did not say by which side in the civil war.
The ITAR-Tass news agency quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying Wednesday that Syria told Russian officials the material "bears witness to the rebels participating in the chemical attack" but that Russia is not yet drawing any conclusions.
Ryabkov met Tuesday with Syrian foreign minister Walid al-Moallem and is expected meet President Bashar Assad on Wednesday.
