Jeff Sessions and his opponent, a football coach, are debating how to best pin China to COVID-19.

Neither care about the vast spread of SARS-CoV-2 in Alabama. The dueling Republicans are bantering about whether there should be a "Pearl Harbor Investigation" (click here) of China and COVID-19. How can the two Republicans completely disregard the global pandemic and it's enormous impact on the people of Alabama. I don't see either of these men winning the US Senate seat if people are getting sick and dying while they debate whether or not if the deadly virus came from China. They are both incompetent in the well being of the people of Alabama.

NO ONE IN ALABAMA ARE ANY SAFER WITH CHINESE DEBATE!

A federal judge (click here) waived some of the requirements to vote absentee in Alabama ahead of the Republican runoff primary between former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and former football coach Tommy Tuberville as they compete to take on vulnerable Democratic Senator Doug Jones.

“Because the plaintiffs have shown that the challenged laws will likely dissuade some citizens from voting … the court finds that the burdens imposed by the challenged election laws on voters at high risk of severe complications or death from Covid-19 are not justified by the state’s interests in enforcing the laws,” U.S. District Judge Abdul Kallon wrote Monday.

In his 77-page opinion, Kallon, an Obama appointee, issued a preliminary injunction waiving the requirements that an Alabama voter seeking to cast a ballot by mail must submit a copy of their photo ID and have a notary or two witnesses sign the ballot.

The injunction also prevents the state from shutting down attempts by county election officials to allow voters to drive up to a polling location and cast a ballot via “curbside voting” in next month’s runoff race.

The waiving of absentee voting rules applies to “at least” three counties – Lee, Mobile and Jefferson – according to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, which helped bring the lawsuit challenging the restrictions....

A proposal to boost tourism (click here) by providing tax breaks for Americans who travel inside the United States is being “actively” considered by the White House for inclusion in the next coronavirus stimulus package.

Three White House officials told McClatchy the tax credit for travel, which has been sharply curtailed by the coronavirus pandemic, is among the economic recovery proposals under discussion. They plan to make a formal recommendation to Congress next month.

“One of the things that is very much on the table is a tax deduction for Americans to do tourism activities,” one senior White House official said....

With the very clear victory by New Zealand, why is it the Trump Administration DOESN'T "GET IT!"

The words "Dim Witted" only begins to describe this administration.

States need to take Florida to court to end the chronic spread they send the rest of the country. Florida is like "Typhoid Mary." (click here). It takes the money from citizens all over the country that dare travel there and then after a week or two and before the illness manifests the tourists go home to be a burden to their homeland state.

This level of danger will continue until Florida finally has leadership that takes the danger to human beings seriously before their bank cards.

It appears the Republicans involved in Trumpism and the Trump administration itself has no respect for life. They go out of their way to endanger the lives of Americans.

This is not the second wave. These are spikes of occurrences within the first wave. To allow the propagation of the virus is complete idiocy and a human rights violation.

As the number of Florida coronavirus cases (click here) continues to climb and after his own administration announced that those who work at elder-care facilities must now be tested, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday he’s not considering another shutdown.

“We’re not rolling back,” DeSantis said during a news conference when asked whether he would consider stopping some reopening efforts. “The reason we did the mitigation was to protect the hospital system.”

On Tuesday, Florida reported 2,783 new coronavirus cases, more than it has ever recorded in a single day. It was the fourth time in six days that the state reported a record number of cases....

"Get Shortcut"

Amid the widespread protests (click here) and anger over police brutality, an iPhone shortcut that allows users to automatically record their interactions with the police is gaining popularity.

By saying, "Hey Siri, I'm getting pulled over," the shortcut -- which a user must first install themselves -- will pause any music that you're playing, turn down the brightness of your phone, turn on the "Do Not Disturb" mode to block any incoming calls, open up your front-facing camera and start a video recording.

It also sends a message to a predesignated contact, letting them know that you're being pulled over and where your current location is. Once you stop the recording, it sends a copy of the video to a predesignated contact and gives you the option to send it to your iCloud or Dropbox....

Florida’s Department of Health (click here) on Tuesday morning confirmed 2,783 additional cases of COVID-19, setting another daily total record high since the start of the pandemic. The state now has a total of 80,109 confirmed cases.

Previously, the highest daily total recorded was on Saturday when 2,581 cases were reported. There were also 55 new deaths announced Tuesday, raising the statewide death toll to 2,993....

I don't know how to transfer "Tik Tok," but, there is an astounding video of a Caucasian man in what appears to be a white stylish sports car pulled over by a police officer that pulled his pepper spray for going 5 mph over the speed limit. The pepper spray can was empty which indicates he frequently is afraid of people, so he reached for his taser to arrest the man behind the steering wheel for going over 5 mph. The officer wanted to arrest the driver and take him to jail for processing. It is an amazing and alarming video. The police officer is a wacko. What is he doing in a uniform? I couldn't help but wonder what kind of orders these cops are getting in regard to the treatment of citizens. Maybe we are supposed to be subdued as a society, too.

This is not the America most are aware of and it isn't going to exist in the USA much longer. Police harassment and abuse is not to be tolerated. Anything beyond asking for ID and if a car is involved a valid registration and insurance certificate is harassment. The police must supply a valid reason for asking for the ID as well. Beyond that compliance with the law the office needs to provide a summons to appear in court.

Verbal exchanges occur between police and citizens. Those exchanges can escalate in alarm because of the actual ticket being provided for an actual infraction with traffic laws. If a police officer is so thin-skinned they cannot tolerate some verbal exchange that is less than complimentary they don't belong in the uniform. The police need to be sensitive to the fact they are confronting a citizen with much more on their mind besides a new summons to court. There is a global pandemic and new tensions between police and citizens loaded with racism. Besides that, the USA has a president that doesn't understand the meaning of statesmen and is very inflammatory in his demeanor and speech of domestic issues.

No doubt the Executive Order regarding police reform is nothing more than pablum.

Pre-paid legal services (click here); "Legal Shield" is a better-known service; need to up their game. Criminal attornies in general need to be prepared to defend the people of this country from vicious police.

I tell you this much if police officers are going to "take on" Americans in an inappropriate and abusive manner they are going to find themselves at the side of the highway without witnesses caring who did it. The best friends they have are innocent Americans that care about the law. If the police turn Americans against their own law, they will be sorry over time.

Police chiefs need to be talking to their officers about being "peace officers" and not wannabee swat members.

There are a lot of guns on the street.

Well, by borrowing the words of the US House at least it is an attempt at bipartisanship.

Embracing a new priority, (click here) President Donald Trump is set to announce executive actions on police procedures and Senate Republicans are preparing a package of policing changes as Republicans seek to respond to mass demonstrations over the deaths of George Floyd and other Black Americans.

It is a sudden shift for the Republican Party, one Democrats are watching warily as they advance broader police reform legislation in the US House of Representatives. The crush of activity shows how quickly the mass protests over police violence and racial prejudice are transforming politics in the United States...

The US Senate is beginning fact-finding. There is no legislation out of the US Senate yet. McConnell and Trump lie a lot.

...The Senate Judiciary Committee will gavel in Tuesday afternoon for an extensive hearing on "Police Use of Force and Community Relations," drawing testimony from the nation's leading civil rights and law enforcement leaders....

The US Senate will probably allow for higher fines instead of jailtime.

...While the emerging GOP package is not as extensive as sweeping Democratic proposals, which are headed for a House vote next week, it includes perhaps the most far-reaching proposed changes to policing procedures from Republicans, a party long aligned with a "law and order" approach.

Trump's executive order would include establishing a database that tracks police officers who garner complaints about excessive use of force in their records, according to two senior administration officials who briefed reporters in advance of Tuesday's announcement....

This was the beginning of the Obama-Holder efforts to stem police abuse.

Tonight, (click here) speaking from the White House Briefing Room, President Obama spoke to the American people about the announcement of the grand jury's decision in the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. The President joined Michael Brown’s parents in calling on anyone who protests to do so peacefully.

In his remarks, the President offered a path forward for our country, noting that the situation in Ferguson speaks to broader challenges we still face as a nation including the mistrust between law enforcement and communities of color. The President asked the nation to heed a grieving father’s words tonight and called on the country to seize this moment tomorrow as an opportunity for change.

He underscored that there are things we can do to help – from criminal justice reform to political engagement – and he’s instructed Attorney General Holder to work with cities across the country to build better relationships between communities and law enforcement....

I could not be happier, but, don't stop now.

There is an election coming and let's not forget the position of the White House. Trump will use hate at every turn to promise to be able to make the USA an Evangelical haven if given the House and Senate. He doesn't care what is possible, he only cares about WINNING, so the lies and promises will be served up in abundance.

Everyone that cares about the USA and it's incredible movements that provide civil rights to all Americans need to be voting this year and WITHOUT OBSTRUCTION. The future is important and we have yet to reverse the sins of the Climate Crisis. The future of our country has never been more important for the youngest of our generations.

We also have yet to ELIMINATE Sars-CoV-2 from our country's borders. "Moderna" (click here) has a promising vaccine in process, but, still isn't real yet. There is a great deal of hope for "Moderna" with orders lining up (click here) before it is even ready. "Moderna" has a great deal of demand on it's capacity. It will be a vaccine process that will need a great deal of patience to be sure it is working.

But, to be happy in the face of victory is more than appropriate. I congratulate Gerald Bostock for believing the USA is the country of promise.

Washington - The Supreme Court (click here) ruled on Monday that a landmark civil rights law protects gay and transgender workers from workplace discrimination, handing the movement for L.G.B.T. equality a long-sought and unexpected victory.

“An employer who fires an individual merely for being gay or transgender defies the law,” Justice Neil M. Gorsuch wrote for the majority in the 6-to-3 ruling.

That opinion and two dissents, spanning 168 pages, touched on a host of flash points in the culture wars involving the L.G.B.T. community — bathrooms, locker rooms, sports, pronouns and religious objections to same-sex marriage. The decision, the first major case on transgender rights, came amid widespread demonstrations, some protesting violence aimed at transgender people of color.

Until Monday’s decision, it was legal in more than half of the states to fire workers for being gay, bisexual or transgender. The vastly consequential decision thus extended workplace protections to millions of people across the nation, continuing a series of Supreme Court victories for gay rights even after President Trump transformed the court with his two appointments....

Police slash tires of health care workers to change behaviors. This is a very aggressive change in the police.

The police are causing worries by their own behavior. Today it is tires, tomorrow what? This is Gestapo tactics that have never been seen in modern-day America. It is intended to intimidate citizens and bring them in line with Trump's dreamscape.

Two law enforcement agencies (click here for video) acknowledged Monday that officers patrolling Minneapolis during the height of recent protests knifed the tires of numerous vehicles parked and unoccupied in at least two locations in the midst of the unrest.

Video and photo images posted on the news outlet Mother Jones show officers in military-style uniforms puncturing tires in the Kmart parking lot at Lake Street and Nicollet Avenue on May 30.

Images from S. Washington Avenue at Interstate 35W also showed officers with knives deflating the tires of two unoccupied cars with repeated jabs on May 31. Department of Public Safety spokesman Bruce Gordon confirmed that tires were cut in “a few locations.”

“State Patrol troopers strategically deflated tires … in order to stop behaviors such as vehicles driving dangerously and at high speeds in and around protesters and law enforcement,” Gordon said...

Mohammad Bin Salman has a history now of plots against other citizens for his own reasons, including wealth.

Princess Basmah is the daughter of a very wealthy deposed Saudi King that has spent most of her life out of Saudi Arabia until her health became delicate. Saudi Arabia refused to let her leave to Geneva where her doctors have cared for her for decades.

There is no safe passage in Saudi Arabia anymore. It is foolish to believe travel to that country is safe for anyone. The same goes for Russia and Putin's puppet strings to Trump. The American embassy is nearly shut down in Moscow. It is time to realize these strongmen are a danger to global peace.

Princess Basmah devoted her life to humanitarian works. Her life's work should place her in an exalted position in Saudi Arabia and instead, Bin Salman has decided to detain her to tap her power and wealth. This is an assault against humanity and more proof that Saudi Arabia is not a good partner to any USA interests.

It was getting late on February 28, 2019, (click here) when Princess Basmah bint Saud bin Abdulaziz al-Saud and her daughter, 28-year-old Suhoud al-Sharif, returned to their seafront penthouse in Jeddah.

A city on Saudi Arabia's west coast, Jeddah is known for its easygoing pace. The corniche, a popular seafront park, is packed with families most evenings. Gentle winds roll off the Red Sea, passing the picnics, and crossing the road up into the city. It's a relaxed Saudi Arabia.

At home, overlooking the corniche, the pair counted down the minutes until midnight, when it would be March 1, and the princess' 54th birthday.

"O God, protect her with your eyes that do not sleep," al-Sharif wrote on her private Facebook page, adding a photo of her mother, and rows of heart-shaped emojis.

As they sat, the elevator doors inside their penthouse slid open, and out stepped a group of eight men. The time stamp on the internal security tape read 11:41 p.m....

...Basmah and her daughter have not been seen in public since.
"She was told there was a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed," a close family member of Basmah told Insider. Instead, "they took her straight to the prison."...
...That prison is al-Ha'ir, a maximum-security facility 25 miles south of Riyadh famous for housing ISIS and al-Qaeda insurgents.
It's a place that many members of the Saudi royal family likely know well....
...By this time Basmah was back living in Saudi Arabia full time for the first time in decades. The move home was prompted by the arrest of her son and death of her husband.
Saud, the son, was among scores of royals detained and accused of corruption in one of Crown Prince Mohammed's purges in 2017.
"They didn't find anything against him, so they let him out, but it took a while," a business associate of the princess told Insider. The associate asked to remain anonymous, but their identity is known to Insider....
...Her attempts to access her inheritance is the real reason why she was locked away, her family member and the associate said, and not an attempt to flee the country or secure a fake passport....

Princess Basmah bint Saud bin Abdulaziz al Saud is the youngest daughter of King Saud who reigned over Saudi Arabia from 1953-64. She spent the first twenty years of her life studying and travelling the world. She came to the UK with her mother when civil war broke out in Lebanon in 1976 and completed her studies. In 1983 she and her mother moved to Syria where she studied medicine, psychology and English literature at the Beirut Arab University.
She commenced her career in media and journalism in 2006 when she started writing articles for several newspapers including Al-Madina, Al-Hayat, Al-Ahram Al-Masri and the magazine Al-Sayadity. She also featured in articles for international outlets such as the Independent, Berfabl, Argeninin, Yo Donna magazine, Vanity Fair and the Huffington Post. Her articles have focused on local and Arab social affairs. She is very much interested in the concerns of citizens, social problems and developed ideas to solve these issues within her articles....

Sloppy and inappropriate police work is no excuse for a citizen's death.

The second officer that responded to the complaint about a sleeping man was zealous and allowed himself to be compromised by a taser wrestled away from him. The second officer compromised the safety of Mr. Brooks and himself by chasing him at a distance close enough to be shot by the taser. It was sloppy police work and in addition, he fired his weapon at Mr. Brooks within about 20 feet of a number of cars at the Drive-thru.

A cheap and widely available drug called dexamethasone (click here) can help save the lives of patients who are seriously ill with coronavirus.

UK experts say the low-dose steroid treatment is major breakthrough in the fight against the deadly virus.

It cut the risk of death by a third for patients on ventilators. For those on oxygen, it cut deaths by a fifth.

The drug is part of the world's biggest trial testing existing treatments to see if they also work for coronavirus.

Researchers estimate that if the drug had been available in the UK from the start of the coronavirus pandemic up to 5,000 lives could have been saved. Because it is cheap, it could also be of huge benefit in poor countries struggling with high numbers of Covid-19 patients....

It comes in all forms; IV for hospitalized patients for fast effect, elixir and pills for homecare and children.

Oral route according to the Mayo Clinic:

Take this medicine (click here) exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take more of it, do not take it more often, and do not take it for a longer time than your doctor ordered. To do so may increase the chance for unwanted effects.

Measure the oral liquid with a marked measuring spoon, oral syringe, or medicine cup. The average household teaspoon may not hold the right amount of liquid.

The Dexamethasone Intensol™ solution is a concentrated liquid. Measure the concentrated liquid with the special oral dropper that comes with the package. The liquid should be added to water, juice, soda or a soda-like beverage, applesauce, or pudding. Stir the mixture well and drink or eat it right away. Do not store the mixture for future use....

Baseball players are willing to take pro-rated salaries? Wow. They are heroes. They love the game.

The owners are very inappropriate. They don't have half the cost of maintaining their stadiums because maintenance costs are down without fans in the stands. The owners are wrong. If the players are willing to take salary cuts there is no question the stadiums are ready and the games need to go forward. NOW!

Major League Baseball (click here) commissioner Rob Manfred told ESPN on Monday he is "not confident" that there will be a 2020 baseball season and that "as long as there's no dialogue" with the MLB Players Association, "that real risk is going to continue."

In a conversation with Mike Greenberg for ESPN's "The Return of Sports" special, Manfred walked back comments made to ESPN last week, when he said "unequivocally, we are going to play Major League Baseball this year" and pegged the likelihood at "100 percent."

The owner better not be leaning on the players union for concessions beyond this season. The players are willing to play baseball at a pro-rated salary because there will be SOME loss of income by the owners, but, the losses won't be that much compared to the reduced costs the owners have this season.

The players and their families need the security of health care. The players need to consider traveling by bus between games. Airlines are risky these days. There is simply no reason to postpone the baseball season. The fans need to act for their baseball season. Write to the owners and the commissioner. There is no reason to postpone or cancel the entire season. This is outrageous. What are they hoping for PPP?

Sportscasters need to chime in on this disaster of a group of owners. They need to attract commercial income, too. If Rob Manfred can't pull his league together and put the players on the field then he shouldn't be a commissioner. This is ridiculous. Next year might not come next year either if this year falls apart.

The minor leagues are out, too.

Bettendorf, Ia. - The first delivery of the day for New York Yankees (click here) pitching prospect T.J. Sikkema is the Home Instead Senior Care facility in Bettendorf.

Sikkema, (click here) who pulls up to the front door shortly after 11 a.m. on May 29, stops his 2019 Ford Raptor so his girlfriend, Amanda Brainerd, can retrieve the three items they’ve picked up from Chipotle Mexican Grill in Davenport that are sitting in the backseat.

Before Brainerd reaches the door, Sikkema quickly unlocks it for her.

“That’s my job right now,” Sikkema says from the driver’s seat of his black truck. “I’ve got to unlock the door when she gets out.”

With the coronavirus pandemic putting the start of the professional baseball season on hold, Sikkema can’t be on a Minor League Baseball mound....

The Baseball commissioner and owners are pathetic.
