The weather at Scott Base, Ross Island, Antarctica (Crystal Ice Chime) is:

But, to realize the 'amount' of light reaching Antarctica's stations this photo is from the German Reporting Station on July 31, 2007 at 1540 or 3:40 PM. It is only twilight at nearly four o'clock in the afternoon their time.

August 1, 2007
0353 AM so it would still be dark at this point.
Scott Base

The most light I found was at the link above of the German Reporting Station Cam. Scott Base is basically still in darkness (click here).

The relative humidity of the USA is obvious. There isn't any, except along the flood zones.

Drought Map of the USA
There is drought EVERYWHERE in the USA EXCEPT where the floods have occurred. Yesterday I was traveling across New York State along the New York Thruway. It's a great highway by the way, but, that wasn't my concern. I saw some of the healthiest farm operations in the nation so far. As noted above these farms are not suffering from drought currently. There were huge sprinkler operations for these farms as well. If this drought and flooding continues and destroys much of the capacity of the heartland, New York State will have premium farmland so long as it remains climatically healthy. With a tropical storm to it's east in the North Atlantic there is an indication that New York State will have significantly healthy and lush climate for some time. New York State has a very smart farming community, the state government needs to work with them to keep them State-of-the-Art and producing. Those farmers can't do it on their own, necessarily.

These are four maps are from four sources that express time zones differently. The redundancy of these maps to 'the truth' of Human Induced Global Warming speaks for itself and I am more than happy to point it out to all those that seek 'the truth.'

Percipitation Map from The Weather Channel

This is the amount of rainfall expected over the USA today. The majority of the area that will receive rain will receive 0.1 inch. One-tenth of an inch. Now, if that one tenth of an inch, about 2.5 mm, reaches the ground at all, it will more than likely evaporate as soon as it does. The nation as a whole has an overall negative rainfall balance compared to 'the norm.'

In other words this is a picture of the clouds over the USA. Just because there are clouds that doesn't mean there is percipitation either. The troposhere is so hot, clouds can form from evaporated water, but, they don't necessarily build a concentration high enough to rain.

Humidity map of the USA.

I took a walk to a book store/coffee shop this morning about 9:30 AM. Along the road there were lawns being watered by automatic sprinklers.

There was no law against it and that is not my concern, as a matter of fact, the more green terra firma the better. The point to this is that even before the sun was at it's strongest point of the traverse across the sky, the air was very hot and dry.

The sprinklers were delivering some of their water to the sidewalk. I stopped to watch it because for the genuine dampness and greenness of the lawns, the sidewalks were nearly dry. So for about ten minutes in some significant dry heat already reaching 93 degrees Fahrenheit I wanted to see what was happening to the water.

It evaporated nearly as fast as it hit the ground. The concrete was moist but not very wet. The lawn was wet and I would have gotten my feet wet if I walked across it. But, in the same moment if I walked barefoot across the sidewalk I wouldn't have wet feet. Cooler feet as the water was leaving a stain on the concrete but not wet.

The surface of Earth is so hot that water turns immediately to vapor when it hits the ground.

Oh, one more thing, The lawn I observed was under a full canopy of several huge beautiful trees and so was the sidewalk. The sky over head, was beautiful, blue, clear, without a cloud in it. And were was I? I was in a place on this map where humidity is stated to be 33%. Like I said, there just isn't any !

Let's hope the current vortex over the Gulf isn't the one that manifests and heads inland. Because if it does we are looking at far more flooding.

How bizaare is this? A tropical storm in the North Atlantic.

Tropical Storm Chantal

July 31, 2007 1430 UNISYS Water Vapor GOES East Satellite

There is a great deal of promise for the low pressure just south of Chantal off the Carolinas and one in the Gulf of Mexico. These are all 'near shore' storms where humidity is currently available.

There is also a communicating system tied to the low pressure off the Carolinas that extends to the African coast. It is best noted on the Water Vapor Hemispheric satellite (click here). The 'paint splatter' cloud mass just north of Haiti and the small oscillating cloud north of the Lesser Antilles are all part of the system which connects to the equatorial humidity north of Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.

The weather at Glacier Bay National Park (crystal ice chime) is:

Elevation :: 33 feet

Temperature :: 54 F / 12C

Conditions :: Overcast

Humidity :: 82%

Dew Point :: 48 F / 9C

A word about Hazelton - the decision was 'designed' for an appeal

There is federal law on the books that state:

Sec. 211. [8 U.S.C. 1181]
(a) Except as provided in subsection (b) and subsection (c) no immigrant shall be admitted into the United States unless at the time of application for admission he (1) has a valid unexpired immigrant visa or was born subsequent to the issuance of such visa of the accompanying parent, and (2) presents a valid unexpired passport or other suitable travel document, or document of identity and nationality, if such document is required under the regulations issued by the Attorney General. With respect to immigrants to be admitted under quotas of quota areas prior to June 30, 1968, no immigrant visa shall be deemed valid unless the immigrant is properly chargeable to the quota area under the quota of which the visa is issued.

Anyone not included in this description is breaking the law and can be arrested and denied rights under the USA Constitution. American law clearly states ANYONE in violation of the law and found guilty and imprisoned have lost their Constitutional Rights. A person in violation of USA immigration law when arrested and found guilty and jailed have no right to remain in the USA. Just that simple.

What Hazelton has done is extended that provision of the law to include all aspects of their municipal laws to insure the criminal alien cannot hide from authority. No one is denying these people their 'human rights' but they are 'by virtue of their lack of status' chargable under the USA Immigration Laws as they exist. Insuring public safety by criminalizing the presence of illegals in the USA provides for the common good and upholds current immigration law.

U.S. District Judge James Munley neglected to state that when an illegal alien is asked to produce documents for rental and employment and they cannot; then they have then violated the law. I don't know about anyone else, but, when I rent 'anything' even a car or hotel room I have to produce a legal document of identification. If I can't provide legal identity then the rental agent has every right not to rent to me or employ me. The Hazelton Laws are built on the current laws carrying forward the demand for identification in all municipal transactions of any business. It's legal. It's good business and it's safe government. The judge designed a case to go to appeal. The decision makes no sense to me. Human rights apply to all people in the USA, citizen's right apply to those that qualify. Hazelton asked all people to qualify within their municipality. There isn't anything wrong with that.

Bush/Cheney/Patraeus/ 'Surge' startegy will never work. It is based in the ideology of defeating an insurgency. This is civil war, NOT an insurgency!

Iraq: At least eight dead including another journalist (click here)
Posted: 28-07-2007 , 08:58 GMT
Seven people, including two policemen died and at least 11 others were hurt in two bomb attacks in the city of Fallujah, a local police source said on Saturday.

Elsewhere, an Iraqi journalist working for a Kuwaiti-owned satellite channel has died after being shot in the head by a sniper on his way home from work, an Iraq-based watchdog said on Saturday. “The Iraqi reporter Adnan al-Safi, 40, who works for Al-Anwar space channel, died on Friday morning after he had been shot by a sniper in the head on Wednesday,” a statement from the Journalistic Freedoms Observatory said, according to AFP.

Safi, who also worked as an adviser to the Iraqi journalists’ union and as a reporter for Sawt al-Iraq (Voice of Iraq), is survived by his wife and three children.

Meanwhile, Iraqi officials said Saturday that the death toll in an attack on a Shiite market district in Baghdad had risen to 61 after dozens more bodies were pulled from the rubble. Blasts struck the Karradah district in central Baghdad as it was packed with shoppers at about 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, setting buildings and cars on fire and sending three huge columns of smoke billowing into the sky.

YET, what are the propagandists reporting? They are reporting the war is over because Iraq won a soccer tournament. Then I guess more than ever it's time to bring the troops home and we'll see Iraq at the Olympics.

Calls for Unity After Iraq Upsets Saudi Arabia at Asian Cup (click here)
Monday, July 30, 2007
JAKARTA, Indonesia — Hundreds of pages have been ripped from the calendar since Iraqis last showed the unity and happiness that flowed across the land on Sunday.
And it would have been foolhardy to predict a soccer team — the determined Lions of the Two Rivers — would unleash a flood of joy held back for decades by the dam of Saddam Hussein's tyranny and four-plus years of war since America toppled him.
But after the team's victory in the prestigious 2007 Asian Cup, the Iraqi people seemed far ahead of their leaders in letting sectarian bygones be bygones and allowing ethnic atrocities to fade.
Despite a security crackdown, curfews banning vehicles, and decrees forbidding the penchant in this part of the world to grab an AK-47 and rip off celebratory rounds, people rejoiced in the streets — and gunfire roared.
It roared across
Baghdad at the second-half goal against Saudi Arabia. It was deafening when the underdog Lions sealed the 1-0 victory in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Bring the troops home now ! American occupation of Iraq is a crime against humanity. 8 million Iraqis is over a third of the current citizens.

8 million Iraqis need urgent aid, report says (click here)
One third of the Iraqi population needs emergency aid because of the humanitarian crisis caused by war and ongoing violence, according to a new report.
Around 8 million Iraqis are in urgent need of water, sanitation, food and shelter, a
joint report (pdf)released today by Oxfam and the NGO Coordination Committee in Iraq said.
The document said that although armed violence is the greatest threat facing Iraqis, the population is also experiencing another crisis of "an alarming scale and severity"....

The Iraqis cannot do worse than this. It's just not possible.

Attrition of Bush Policy, not the success of 'The Surge.' Basically, the USA has surrendered to the will of the Iraqi people.

Heat rises between Iraq PM and Petraeus (click here for Boston Globe article)

The title of this editorial is "A War We Just Might Win" (click link at title) when it should state "A War We Have Already Lost." The editorial is rhetorical. It is to 'save face' for the military. I wish the propaganda that affects the lives of Iraqis would just stop. This editorial claims no real progress EXCEPT the organized surrender by Petraeus. It is covert in it's reailty.

After a lengthy touting of accomplishmenst the editorial FINALLY states this:

...In the end, the situation in Iraq remains grave. In particular, we still face huge hurdles on the political front. Iraqi politicians of all stripes continue to dawdle and maneuver for position against one another when major steps towards reconciliation — or at least accommodation — are needed. This cannot continue indefinitely....

Every expert on Earth states the answer to the violence in Iraq is what? What does everyone state is the answer to end the violence in Iraq? A POLITICAL SOLUTION !! In the same paragraph the authors, whom claim to be experts states this:

...Otherwise, once we begin to downsize, important communities may not feel committed to the status quo, and Iraqi security forces may splinter along ethnic and religious lines....

The division of Iraq into sectarian (ethnic and religious) lines has already been establish. What this statement tells me is that there is a 'waiting game' going on with Iraqis. Although they don't want the violence, they also don't want the 'status quo.' At first light, these folks will divide into enclaves of sectarian interests and remain there, while defending their homes. The ONLY reason that is not happening now is because of the precense of USA military. The tensions that exist in areas such as this results in attacks on USA troops and the recruitment of 'strong men' such as al Qaeda. Literally, what has happened is that the occupation forces of the USA are just occupying one sector of Iraq now. The longevity of such 'successes' is dependant on whether or not the USA occupies that sector forever.

I want to point to something else as well. There is 'attrition' of the population that exists in Iraq today. At the onset of the invasion Iraq was a country of 25 million people. That is down by at least 3 million due to the absence of refugees and the dead from the violence and war in Iraq. When statements such as this below are made it is with complete abandon in realizing 'statistically' the violence has decreased in the face of a changing demographic that is adverse to the best outcome for Iraqis. A country diminished in it's populous by 3 million people is a form of genocide.

...As a result, civilian fatality rates are down roughly a third since the surge began — though they remain very high, underscoring how much more still needs to be done....

What is even more troubling is the fact these authors see 'more that needs to be done' without realizing what that 'more' actually entails. Reducing the number of fighters in any war is definately a way to victory. A decrease of over 10 percent of the Iraqi population since the beginnings of the war is what is realized here, NOT the success of Bush's Surge. More of the same is simply murder and alienation of the citizens of Iraq. The USA is a blight to that country and why a political resolve is impossible with the presence of the USA. The people of Iraq simply want to be left alone and are in a waiting game for the exit of these troops.

This is what the authors and the USA military is touting as 'success.'

...In Baghdad’s Ghazaliya neighborhood, which has seen some of the worst sectarian combat, we walked a street slowly coming back to life with stores and shoppers. The Sunni residents were unhappy with the nearby police checkpoint, where Shiite officers reportedly abused them, but they seemed genuinely happy with the American soldiers and a mostly Kurdish Iraqi Army company patrolling the street. The local Sunni militia even had agreed to confine itself to its compound once the Americans and Iraqi units arrived....

The USA military is a 'coersion force' to the demands of returning a sovereign state called Iraq to the political leaders 'hold up' in The Green Zone. "The local Sunni militia." "The local Sunni militia." Ah, ha. In other words, the people of the Ghazaliya neighborhood will 'stand down' when the USA arrives because there local militia which normally protects them can't defeat an armed American unit. But, will the people of Ghazaliya neighborhood FOREVER relinquish their 'own' Sunni militia? Heck, no. They are involved in a civil war of control. In this case the author states the people of Ghazaliya neighborhood are afraid of the IRAQI POLICE. Hello? These folks don't trust the USA military either. They reserve the right to house their own militia until the point where something goes "W"rong again and the militia needs to 'take up the fight again.'

What will go "W"rong? Let's see.

Literally, in this video, the USA military create their own war. There was absolutely no threat to the men of this unit, however, in their 'urban surge strategy' the unit goes into full aggression 'at the thought' of dying. They create their own emergency when they assassinate a taxi driver because he didn't understand he had to stop for inspection by the troops. Living on 'the street' in Iraq doesn't come with instructions although 'the police tactics' of this unit believes it does.

Video: Inside the surge, part one (click here)
The Guardian's award-winning photographer and filmmaker Sean Smith spent two months embedded with US troops in Baghdad and Anbar province. His harrowing documentary exposes the exhaustion and disillusionment of the soldiers.

These soldiers not only 'take control' of their immediate area to prevent any of their deaths, they bring about a scenario which was never a threat in the first place. They traumatize an old woman not just once but many times 'in the face' of a reality that they haven't been assaulted by anyone. All that happened in the scenario with the taxi cab driver was that he didn't stop. He was circling the neighborhood looking for business.

The USA military is simply seeking the people whom are long gone after planting a road side bomb like 'chickens with their heads cut off.' Sorry for the graphic example. But they have no 'intelligence' of the area. It is completely obvious, their boss isn't in charge of any strategy, the leaders of the USA units simply 'react' to the conditions before them without direction, 'rest' or a sincere strategy. They see themselves dead day in and day out and they react to any 'preceived' threat 'real' or 'unreal.' And people don't want to hear this but this is simply the 'fly by the seat of your pants' strategy that existed in Vietnam when the USA occupied that country with the help of Bell Helicopter.

What will bring about the deaths of any American entrenched and trapped in the Iraq Civil War is when a local resident takes food to the local militia and reports 'the goings on' of the death of the local taxi driver and the traumaticed old woman. The local militia will then seek to 'move' the American troops from the area, and rightfully so, they are out of control and in an aggressive stance because someone and more than likely from the local militia planted a successful road side bomb. The local militia will continue to have the loyalty of the locals and will continue to be that neighborhoods protectors. The USA cannot offer these Iraqi neighborhoods any option other than occupation and that occupation comes with adverse outcomes to the people on a daily basis.

This is hideous. It's genocidal and it has successfully killed 3648 American troops to date and over 15 thousand maimed and permanently disabled.

The Surge is an abject failure. It has no strategy except to send out on patrol in Sunni areas units that have orders to 'survive the day' in whatever that means.

Additionally, Patraeus sees fit to arm the local militias in order to carry out attacks against al Qaeda in Iraq. Al Qaeda in Iraq is the 'reinforcements' to the militias when they don't have enough fire power to defeat the occupying Americans or opposing ethnicities. When these militias are armed to turn against a force they invited into their own territory it isn't with loyalty to anyone except their own empowerment leading to 'warlord' status based in religious preference to their neighborhood. This is a civil war and Patraeus is fueling it. There will be no end in sight for the Iraqis so long as 'this gaming' of an accepted insurgency continues.

One question. When the USA military arms militias to DEFEAT al Qaeda do they accept the weapons back after the defeat of al Qaeda because if they don't then I guess al Qaeda isn't defeated and will be returning. So, therefore, in 'the light' of having overwhelming numbers of USA ground troops, the local militias will do just fine.

The USA military needs to come home. There is no support for their mission in the populous of the USA and these 'type' of editorials amount to nothing but Bush propaganda 'designed' to lend support to the elections of 2008.

To Governor Spitzer - No need to apologize, just get it straightened out

It would seem as though 'national hubris' is of epidemic proportions these days and the newly elected Governors are tripping over it as they enter their office.

Governor Patrick of Massachusetts has had his scandal already and learned from it with the troubled Ameriquest. Perhaps you will all recall:

Governor made call on behalf of lender (click here)
Troubled Ameriquest sought infusion of cash
By Frank Phillips, Globe Staff March 6, 2007
Governor Deval Patrick, who was criticized during the gubernatorial campaign for his involvement with a controversial subprime mortgage lender, called a top official at Citigroup, former US Treasury secretary Robert E. Rubin, two weeks ago to intercede on behalf of the owners of Ameriquest Mortgage as they sought urgent financial assistance from the global financial giant.
In a statement to the Globe, Patrick said he made the Feb. 20 call to Citigroup not in his role as governor but after a personal request to him from a top official at ACC Capital Holdings, the firm that owns Ameriquest Mortgage, which has frequently been accused of predatory lending.
Citigroup, the world's largest financial company, has a host of business interests in Massachusetts, many of which are regulated by the state. A key Citigroup subsidiary handles lucrative bond work for state agencies. In addition, Ameriquest is licensed by the state Division of Banks.

It would seem whomever is digging up the dirt is hoping newly elected Democratic governors should resign as soon as they are elected. It's the old syndrome that pervades the post elections of 2006: "Do as I say but not as I do." The Republicans have been corrupt for nearly a decade now, to their very core. But, God Forbid a Democrat should 'slip up' in a newly elected office.

I forgive you Governor Spitzer. I forgive Governor Patrick as well. Do you realize the incredible changes that have occurred in Massachusetts since Governor Patrick took office? Incredible stuff. I do believe New York is doing better as well. Both these men face difficult state legislatures, but, you'd never know it for the results they get.

Neither Governor Spitzer or Patrick are going anywhere, but, as Governor Patrick learned it pays to be 'on guard' for issues that could manifest as ethical dilemmas.

So, with that I do believe both these men were elected to serve in a capacity to correct the course of many past sins by previous administrations. They need to do their job and if they insist on giving an apology then I whole-heartedly accept it. Eliot, you simply know better. Get it straightened out and don't let it happen again. Thank you. Both of you for serving.

The 'religious tone' of government has no benefit to the people of the USA

I probably don't have to go on.

The women of the USA should never be exposed to religious intimidation for the quality of life they are afforded in this country in the year 2007.

And a religious assault by any political leader against the rights of women should be viewed as victimization and abuse.

This White House has encouraged 'stone throwing' by their religious cronies and their victimization of young hearts is completely obvious.

The 'shame' of the circumstances in the USA belongs to the likes of the Pat Robertsons of the world.

Good night.

Jessica Simpson, one time divorced is lauded by her father as a 'better person' to her 'starlet competition.' Hm.

So, once a married woman (been there, done that) has allowed her to realize pain and mature. Interesting.

I wouldn't characterize her as a better person, but, certainly one that is trouble free. She seems more resilient to social abuse, especially the kind leveled by the Religious Right.

Character strength to stand against the tide and win. She was never intimidated by the pressure to be a starlet without being politically correct. No drinking or drug problems for the difference either.

Interesting.

Simpson received criticism from a Christian group calling itself "The Resistance", for the sexualized image she used in the music video for "These Boots are Made for Walking." In response, Simpson stated, "It didn't really surprise me because I grew up with a lot of that backlash. That's why I didn't end up going into the Christian music industry. I think that if they're really good Christians the judgment wouldn't be there."

When I think of empowerment of women, I think of some of the great feminists of our time.

Betty Friedan

Yet, in the USA today, the simple word 'feminist' is almost eliminated in speech. It has become a political 'power word' among the Neocons.

So.

Rather than empowerment of women; they are put in their place and valued for their child bearing.

I have not witnessed this level of abuse of women in decades. And our beautiful women icons are victim to it.

When people listen to a speech by the current president, what tone does he ALWAYS take?

What 'style' of respect does he elicit to the audience?

Is there respect to the listener when these Neocons speak?

Or, is there simply direction to their speeches?

"NOW, YOU LISTEN TO ME YOU LITTLE BRAT."

Do women feel respected when they are 'talked down to' by a power figure such as this?

Or do they feel put in their place?

George Walker Bush speaks as a parent to a child in all his speeches. There is no respect by either he or Richard Cheney of any listener.

Transactional Analysis - this is just a reference, not a recommendation

Berne also said that each person is made up of three alter ego states:

Parent

Adult

Child

Communication styles:

Parent - Child

Parent - Parent

Child - Parent

Child - Child

Adult - Adult

Each style of communication lends itself to 'power' within that communiation.

We all know the price to be paid when people drive drunk. It's no joke, it's a crime.

I would imagine rather than jail, a rehab facility with community service to Mothers Against Drunk Driving might be a more appropriate sentence. These women have been used as icons and their well being neglected. I realize 'rock stars' sometimes do self destruct, but, all these women? This is more than just an occassional occurence in the American society. There is something very, very "W"rong.

I think these young women are great women. Everyone one of them. Their careers and lives have been grossly mismanged.

If this was my daughter the length of stay at a rehab facility wouldn't be a matter of an overnight visit.

Has anyone thought about The Betty Ford Clinic (click here)?

These young women need dignity added to their beauty and I can't think of a better place than the rehabilitation facility of a former first lady.

I think that would be included as 'very high fashion' and nothing but pure unadulterated class.

Not quite sure what Britney Spears I'm supposed to admire more. Hm?

Am I supposed to admire or pity the bald Britney Spears?

Maybe I'm only supposed to admire the Britney Spears Pat Robertson approves of.

Am I supposed to admire the pregnant Britney Spears?

Am I supposed to admire the gorgeous Britney Spears?

Should I admire the 'wired' British Head of the Spear? Oh, I meant to say Britney Spears?

"I understood the Beatles. They were talented. But, I don't understand the Paris Hilton craze." Larry King

Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton provide impetus to shop. They are celebrity brats that provide passion to a generation of Americans to find an identity in 'the latest' trends. They are an economic commodity. I mean who wants to pay taxes when you can shop for a lifetime of happiness. This is a way of degrading women that hasn't been seen since I don't know when. I think the expression used to be 'airheads.' You know. They have their place.

These young ladies are being sacrifical lambs to the Religious Right. Paris Hilton should have never spent a day in jail and we all know that. But, she was traumatized long enough to scream, "I found God in jail." I never thought god was in jail. Criminals perhaps, but, god? I thought god was found in worship in holy places. Jail?

Nicole Richie gets 4 days (click here)
01:38 PM CDT on Saturday, July 28, 2007
From Staff and Wire Reports

Nicole Richie, soberly fitted in a black dress accessorized with boyfriend Joel Madden, pleaded guilty to DUI and was sentenced to four days in jail on Friday.
NICK UT/The Associated Press
The sentencing in a Glendale, Calif., courthouse came one month after pal Paris Hilton left her cell. Nicole also agreed to serve a three-year probation term and must undergo alcohol education. She was also fined $2,048.
During the hearing, Los Angeles County Commissioner Steven Lubell admonished Nicole, saying: "Someone could've gotten killed. You need to understand that driving under the influence is extremely dangerous."
Nicole was given the option of serving her time in a city jail, which is seen as a cushier facility than a county jail. She was given no surrender date but must complete her jail time before Sept. 28.

Sexuality is NOT the issue. Young ladies are beautifully sexual. Indulgence of the wealthy IS the issue. They should be able to get away with it.

The outrage is that media whom are insincere in nature want to 'pin bad luck' on sexual issues. If they do that, there will be a generation of confused Americans that will have huge issues well into adulthood. Ms. Lohan is self destructing and no one seem to care about that so much as they care about a 'Get Out of Jail Free Card.'

They used to be called "Mall Rats." The kids that hung out at shopping malls, sometimes homeless. Now, it's a lifestyle.

The young lady just turned 21. It's supposed to be a time of responsiblity and adulthood. She's a complete basketcase. A lot of the ladies that are making the gossip columns rather than the society pages started their very mobile careers at the beginning of the Iraq War. They were to be icons of 'desire' to let fighting men realize what they were indeed fighting for. They rose to stardom in no time as they were supposed to and now our young people are taking example from their tragic outcomes.

This isn't my America.

Nassau County judge to actress Lindsay Lohan's dad: Get a job.In a stern rebuke Friday to the troubled starlet's father, Nassau County Supreme Court Judge Robert Ross ordered Michael Lohan -- unemployed since his release in March from prison -- to start paying $500 a week in child support to his estranged wife, Dina Lohan, and told him to start looking for paid work.
This isn't about shopping for the Saudis. It's about the way our young adults are going up under vast wealth due ot the destruction of our government and tax system by the Bush-Cheney 'Values' White House.

It's a crime, literally and figuratively in realizing the demoralization of our country.

Neocons. Who needs it? There is no better solution to the destabilization of the Middle East than creating armed camps? How about disarming while the USA withdraws. How about some real cooperation between nations in securing borders and enhancing trade among them? There aren't common interests anymore? Does anyone actually believe arming Saudi Arabia is going to cause Iran to deescalate their capacity? Will that give Iran 'pause' in handling their nuclear issues well? Heck no, so what is the State Department doing besides drumming up business for military hardware contractors?

We'll leaving. The reason Iran started it's escalation into fundamentalism was because Bush and Cheney illegally invaded Iraq. If that didn't happen we won't have a propaganda king in Tehran right now.

This is simply out of the question. More fire power in the Middle East is more instability and not the other way around. What's next before we finally rid this country of the Neocons, nukes for the Saudi king?

A nuclear Middle East is the worst idea anyone ever had. To begin it is against international law. Bush doesn't care, he escalated the mess with India to make all possible, so why not nuke sales from India to any country interested in the Middle East.

It's going to be a long 18 months before there is a change in administration in the White House. A very, very long 18 months. I am so grateful there is a Democratic majority in both houses, even with Lieberman being an idiot.

Ariz. collision a first for TV choppers

Two news helicopters fall after colliding in midair while covering a police pursuit in central Phoenix, Friday, July 27, 2007, killing everyone on both aircraft, police said. Both helicopters were from local television stations. KNXV-TV Channel 15 reported that one of the choppers belonged to its station. The other chopper was from KTVK Channel 3 in Phoenix. (AP Photo/La Voz-The Arizona Republic, AJ Alexander)
I am confident after this tragedy, media services will now be sharing responsibilities and 'audio/visual feed' in coverage areas with shared common interests. There is no need for this level of competition in any business venture in the USA.
I can't believe this 'risk' even existed. The word was 'existed.'
Are conservative states so disinterested in public well being the skies are a place of 'free will?' This is outrageous to realize there was absolutely no government control over the number of vehicles in the air. This silliness needs to stop with restrictive access to air space while 'feeds' are equitably provided to all services in cooperation without time lags. If each media service is allowed 'scheduled time in the air' daily or every other day or weekly depending on how many actually keep helicopters they will all have an income from shared interests when it's their equipment supplying 'the feed' for the day.
No more of this level of pressure to get the story. The public isn't THAT interested in 'breaking news.' I realize there is pressure needed to stop high speed police chases and more of a need today than any other time to be sure police are doing their jobs well, but, this isn't the way. Video footage is important when it is done well and the public isn't witness to funerals. Just stop being so aggressive in acquistion of the news. We don't want it this way. Government needs to protect people from themselves and that doesn't happen in Red States the way it should.

Call it the "fuzzumentary," this new documentary sub-genre in which creatures of the wild -- think the birds of "Winged Migration," or the emperors of "March of the Penguins" -- are turned into almost-human characters on the big screen. Wildlife footage is combined with an off-screen narrator to concoct a G-rated story of loyalty, survival, family togetherness and other themes designed to draw human empathy.

Jay Leno Goes Completely 'SiCKO' with Michael Moore
'SiCKO' Health Care Card
As seen on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
You now have the opportunity to print and carry your very own "'SiCKO' Health Care Card." Playing the 'SiCKO' card has worked for a family in DeBary, Florida, whose daughter suffered profound hearing loss and was denied a cochlear implant. Her father sent a letter to Cigna asking, "has your
CEO ever been in a film before?" Before he knew it, his daughter's denial was overturned. It also worked for a family in Flint, Michigan who was stuck with a $66,000 medical bill until they posted their healthcare horror story on YouTube. Click here to see what happened next.
Download the PDF of the card below and follow these simple guidelines:
Carry the card in your wallet with your insurance card.
If denied treatment, show your SiCKO card to your doctor/insurer.
Ask your insurer if they'd like to be in Michael Moore's next movie, DVD, or appear on MichaelMoore.com.
Tell them that, if denied, you will seek coverage from your local media.
E-mail your story to
michael@michaelmoore.com.

Mike's Challenge

My Challenge to the Presidential Candidates
Posted July 25, 2007 12:01 PM (EST)
The American government isn't afraid to hand out free health care. Senior citizens get it. Veterans get it. As SiCKO shows you, even the detainees at Guantanamo Bay get it.
So, too, do our federal elected officials. It doesn't matter if they are Republicans or Democrats, young or old, healthy or sick -- they are entitled to free, government-provided health insurance. They don't have to worry about being able to pay for medical help -- even if many of their constituents do.
When Senator Sherrod Brown was running for a seat in the House of Representatives over 10 years ago, he saw something wrong with this. He pledged not to accept his free government health care until everyone in the United States had the same luxury. (He's still waiting.)

...a letter from Michael Moore

See the Movie, Start the Revolution ...a letter from Michael Moore
Friends,
I am overwhelmed by the response to "Sicko." And I'm not just talking about all the wonderful, heart-felt letters you've sent me and the stories you've shared with me about the abuse you've suffered from our health care system.
No, I'm talking about how thousands of you are taking matters into your own hands and using the movie to do something. From Seattle to New England, each day I learn of numerous groups holding meetings or dinners after the movie to discuss it and to plot a course for action. A church in Plano, TX took its weekly bible study group to see "SiCKO." 70 people crammed into a Wisconsin coffee shop's back room. Groups are plotting over pancakes in Illinois and microbrew in Missouri. E-mail addresses are being exchanged in theater lobbies. A Connecticut group is inviting legislators to see "Sicko" and
keeping a tally on their website. Local groups have been buying out theaters to have special screenings for their members. Information tables are set up, literature is distributed, action groups are formed.

Hinchey calls for Bush, Cheney to be censured
Kingston Daily Freeman
U.S. REP. Maurice Hinchey plans to introduce two resolutions in the House of Representatives calling for censures of President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and other administration officials, the congressman's office announced on Thursday.
Hinchey's resolutions, companions to ones proposed on Sunday by U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., seek to formally admonish the Bush administration for misleading the American people about the reasons for invading Iraq, mismanaging the war and the military occupation of Iraq and abusing the Constitution through such practices as warantless surveillance, according to a prepared statement from the Hurley Democrat.

Michael Moore's "Sicko" will make you sick
By Tom Watkins /
Observer & Eccentric
Michael Moore's new film, "Sicko," is a communal experience that begins the moment you stand in line to get tickets and continues through the laughter and moans you hear during the film to the tears and outrage you see expressed as you exit the theater. This is more than a movie, it's an experience to share with others.
Michael Moore has done it again. He has sparked a hot conversation that has the potential to start a raging fire under our national politicians to actually do something about something that everyone admits is a problem. He has placed our system of health care under a microscope for all to see - and the sight is not pretty. Sicko shows that the only ones getting healthy under our system of care are the members of the health care industrial complex: giant drug companies, mega-hospitals and health insurers that victimize people to maximize profits.

'Issues' ...by Amy Branham
I'm tired of hearing about the next Presidential election already. I'm tired of hearing who has raised how much money and I'm really sick and tired of hearing about Hillary and Obama, Romney and Giuliani. I don't give a damn how much Edwards spends on a hair cut. I don't care how many wives Giuliani has had, and I really am not interested in Romney's religion or anything about Hillary. Frankly, I'm tired of the Bush/Clinton/Bush cycle and hope with every fiber of my being that we get out of that this election term.
The talking heads of our media are acting like my old cocker spaniel, Jake, that piddled on the floor when he got too excited. The election is still over a year in the future. There are so many other things going on in the world that are deserving of our attention and our time. In fact, many things are MORE deserving of our time.
Here's my list of things that are more important than the long list of Presidential Candidates:

The Emperor's Naked Army Marches On
This absorbing documentary follows Kenzo Okuzaki--a veteran of Japan's WWII campaign in New Guinea--as he searches out those responsible for the mysterious deaths of several soldiers in his unit. Though he holds Emperor Hirahito accountable for all the suffering caused by WWII, he painstakingly tracks down former military officers and accuses them of specific war crimes, often times abusing them verbally and physically. Director Kazua Hara's subtle cinema verite not only captures the zeal of Okuzaki's lifelong mission, but also exposes the atrocities committed by the Japanese military against its own soldiers. The film created such controversy in Japan upon release that no major distributor would touch it. "The most amazing piece of filmmaking" (Michael Moore). Winner of the Caligari Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival. In Japanese with English subtitles.

BIG PhRMA, BIG KaRMA
The drugs may be free but the bus costs us plenty
By David Schankula /
ACE Weekly
Last Friday, help finally arrived for the sick and poor in Lexington, KY -- and it came in grand style.
A 45-foot long bright orange bus parked itself in front of the History Museum on Main Street and Mr. Montel Williams, talk show host and celebrity spokesperson for America's pharmaceutical companies, emerged from the tinted confines of an accompanying black stretch limousine.
Flanked by a handful of politicians and a gaggle of press handlers, Mr. Williams delivered a rousing speech. He shared his struggle with Multiple Sclerosis and explained its debilitating effects. Were it not for $2,000 worth of drugs each month, he would be unable to get out of bed in the morning. But, and Mr. Williams put this demurely, he is in a blessed and rare position for he has the means to afford the drugs. Many of our brothers and sisters, he reminded us, are not so lucky.

Clinton, Obama trade barbs in Quad-City Times interviews
By Ed Tibbetts /
Quad-City Times
TODAY: (Updated 2:16 p.m.) In separate interviews with the Quad-City Times today, Democratic presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama tangled over Obama’s statement at the YouTube debate Monday that he would be willing to meet in the first year of his presidency with the leaders of countries antagonistic to the United States.
Clinton called Obama’s comments “irresponsible” and “naive.”
Obama countered by accusing the Clinton campaign of hatching a “fabricated controversy” and suggested that her position put her on the same track as the Bush administration.

'Cry Wolf!' ...by Dan DeWalt
As his Iraq adventure disintegrates before his eyes, and as more and more Americans are unwilling to give him any benefit of the doubt, George W. Bush is once again pulling out the let's scare 'em with terrorism card.
And while there is no doubt that this despicable ploy is just that, we should not fall into the trap of only accusing him of crying wolf. Because, putting aside the lies that our government dishes out everyday, there is no question that at this point, there are indeed terrorists who would love nothing more than to launch an attack in The United States.
If a successful attack should happen, and all we've been doing is accusing Bush of raising the level of fear, then we'll immediately find ourselves on the defensive with many Americans rallying around the President once again as the only one to "keep us safe."

Did you know?
One fourth of the Iraq war budget alone could fund healthcare for every uninsured person in this country.
Think what the trillions of dollars wasted on war, occupation and destruction could do for the people:
• Provide free medicine for all of our seniors and chronically ill.
• Change the dismal statistics of infant mortality in major cities like Detroit, Baltimore and Washington D.C. where the mortality rates for African American and poor children rival impoverished countries abroad;

6) If you are caught outside and no shelter is available:
Find a low spot away from trees, fences, and poles
Squat low to the ground on the balls of your feet, place your hands on your knees with your head between them, make yourself the smallest target possible and minimize your contact with the ground.

This measure can apply to more than schools. It's just a good idea for anyone without 'dedicated safe areas' that are tornado shelters as well.

Go to interior rooms and halls on the lowest floor, but avoid halls that open to the outside in any direction. If there are no interior hallways, avoid those that open to the southwest, south, or west, since that is the usually the direction the tornado will come. Stay away from glass, both in windows and doors. Crouch down, and make as small a "target" as possible.

Facts not Myth about biofuels. Ethanol has more Btu output from producton than reformulated gasoline by a ratio of 6.8 to 0.79 / One BTU production

"Reformulated gasoline is the stuff at the pump. (click here)"
Reformulated gasoline (RFG) is gasoline blended to burn cleaner and reduce smog-forming and toxic pollutants in the air we breathe. The Clean Air Act requires that RFG be used in cities with the worst smog pollution to reduce harmful emissions of ozone. (click here)

...and ethanol is not a substitute for alternative sources of energy OR the development of hydrogen and electric cars. The demands for transportation fuels increases with population increases. If countries like China and India are allowing mass production of automobiles, these biofuels have to be exploited to reduce global carbon loads. Remember, the population growth on Earth provides more and more stress on Earth's ability to be benevolent. Ethanol is simply a 'stop gap' to better transportation and energy production. Nothing more. Mass transportation and development of alternative high speed transport such as High Speed Magnetic Rail is still the best option for growing populations with increasing consumerism that place stress on Earth's biosphere. Ethanol ain't all that, don't get carried away with that idea.

RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY SOARS IN WISCONSIN (click here)
BioCycle July 2007, Vol. 48, No. 7, p. 61
Action is a step to Governor's goals to reach 25 percent of its annual energy needs for renewables by 2025.

Cheryl Rezabek

WHILE announcing its plans to purchase a minimum of 90,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of renewable electricity, Wisconsin has become the largest state government purchaser in the nation as per the EPA Green Power Partners website. The action is one more step by the Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) to meet Governor Jim Doyle's Energy Independence goals to fulfill 25 percent of its energy needs from renewables by 2025. “The state will create a stable market for renewable energy companies to help them get started and become competitive in the energy market,” Office of Energy Independence Director Judy Ziewacz says. “Encouraging new home-grown renewable energy production is a key to reaching the Governor's Energy Independence goals and fighting global warming.” Under the new Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Act (2005 Wisconsin Act 141), the six state agencies must purchase 10 percent of their electricity from renewable sources by December 2007 and 20 percent by 2011. “The new law calls on state government to lead by example,” Ziewacz explains. “The results will be good for the environment and good for the renewable energy economy.” The six state agencies purchasing the renewable energy include the Department of Administration, Department of Corrections, Department of Health and Family Services, Department of Public Instruction, Department of Veterans Affairs and the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin. The request includes providing renewable electricity for the agencies' offices, campuses and facilities across the state. The state is requesting renewable energy contracts for at least 10 years for a minimum of 90,000 megawatt hours of renewable energy by the end of 2007 and for up to 180,000 megawatt hours to meet the 20 percent goal by 2011. Renewable energy sources include wind power, solar power, energy from biomass and geothermal technologies.

Recycling garbage including leaf litter and excess compost.

Imagine a municipality that supplies all it's own energy needs through biodiesel production. Where do they get the bio-stuff to produce the diesel?

Entertain this: What if a progressive mayor and council educated consumers about recycling vegetation and vegetable based oils? Is it possible? Can people be educated to recycling at all? That is a stupid question in the year 2007. People have not only been educated to recycling, it has become a 'feel good' aspect of a child's education in the public school system.

People would be more than willing to add to their weekly trash collection 'bio-based' trash for use in their local biodiesel facility. Imagine a waste collection vehicle making it's rounds on fuel produced by the people it serves.

It's all very doable. Why aren't we there yet?

Of all the solar energy production, I simply love this project. It is so possible.

The 'heat exchange' of solar heat through a superhot vegetable oil pipeline. No danger of any kind to workers, either. As least as long as the 800 degree F oil stays inside the tubes. But, there is no toxic anything here.

Recently, a brand new "Solar Parabolic Trough" power plant was officially opened near Tucson, Arizona. The plant consists of six rows of parabolic mirrors that track the sun as it moves across the sky. The mirrors concentrate the sunlight on steel tubes coated with an absorption material to keep the heat from dissipating. Mineral oil flowing inside the tubes is heated to about 600 degrees Fahrenheit.
The hot oil then is circulated through a heat exchanger, where it heats a second fluid that vaporizes to produce steam to spin an electric turbine. The plant actually became operational in December 2005 and provides power for 200 households. It was built by Solargenix, a solar energy development company based in North Carolina.

The 'organization' of the facility. It can probably be made more efficient which will also capture increased heat production.
