I would like to expand on this a little. From my point of view there is absolutely no reason for a cover up, yet one exists. Why?
I think Noem has an audience that desired to hear about how evil Ms. Good was and how she deserved to die, but, yet I ask why? Why would normal people expect to hear such things? Why the lies? What is the investment Noem is making in those lies? She clearly expects to have the lies live on. The angelic ICE officer(s) took down a demon from the sounds of it.
I think a cover-up to protect Trump and his hateful agenda is too simple an answer. I remember at the same time the Republican majority Congress is doing nothing. There she stands. Noem the woman they invested trust into to place our Homeland Security and its enormous budget. The Republicans have a real vested interest in good outcomes for the country. So, why?
The audience is the goal. The audience will believe the worst about any American that does not see the world as they do. They hate those different from them. The lies, the bold faced lies are for the audience. To that audience Noem’s words are sacred and very good news. The angelic ICE angels (agents) over came enormous adversity first by braving an entrance into hell (Minnesota), overcoming a wicked snow storm meant to stand in their way and defeat them, and the ultimate the death of the demon. In this case a 37 year old lesbian with an innocent child that needs to grow up better and differently.
The audience is the electorate the Republicans allow to be corrupted by those lies. If they believe all but The Chosen are liars, the Republicans are bulletproof.
The next layer to consider are the preachers and their vested interest in people with simple minds. I have an opinion about the southern Bible Belt. Just an opinion. Not hate. Hate is never intended.
There are a lot of denominations and out of the mainstream churches in The South. Ever wonder why. There is an organized Baptist convention but not every free spirited church is a member.
What happens with mainstream religion?
They pay dues, don’t they. Tithing. But, at the church level if the congregation keeps all their tithing for their own church, doesn’t pay a Pope or sponsor missions; the church elders have more money for what they alone can prioritize and pleases them. Does the average American realize the deprivation and poverty the Southern racists live in?
They alone are not the audience of Noem, one if Trump’s minions; but; there definitely is an audience. An audience corrupted by lies. It is that audience and the corrupted be it whomever that needs the truth. There are no demons. There are just Americans entitled to a life. There really is no one to hate. If anyone needs to hate, then hate the poverty, not the people.
