A New York City School's Chancellor? What? Is this? A NY City School Chancellor is an educator at News Corp.

In this Nov. 9, 2010 file photo, outgoing Chancellor of New York City Public Schools Joel Klein listens during a news conference at City Hall in New York. When Klein left his post as head of New York City schools to join Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. last year, many observers expected his new gig as senior adviser would be lower-profile and better-paid. So far, it is definitely not the former. (AP Photo/Seth Wenig, File)

Really?

I think that is weird.  What does a New York City School Chancellor have to offer professional journalists?

No one else finds that strange?

Oh, this was a new division of Murdoch's Madcap Media.  I see.

When Joel “Numbnuts” Klein  left  his position  as New York City's school chancellor last fall to become a senior VP at News Corp's reeducation eduction division, he "seemed happier than ever before." According to the Times, Klein received $4.5 million in compensation this year, gets a monthly car allowance of $1,200, and Rupert Murdoch promised to spend up to $1 billion on the newly formed educational wing of News Corp to fund Klein's visions. But thanks to the phone hacking scandal that is tearing through Murdoch's media empire, Klein is charged with conducting an internal investigation of News Corp. "I am trying to get as far away from this as I can," he reportedly told a friend….

The recent news about the hanging of an 8 year old boy in Afghanistan by insurgents is not new, exactly.

Taliban 'hanged boy, 12, for spying for UK' (click here)

12:01AM GMT 09 Dec 2007

...The gruesome murder, which occurred in Sangin, an area held by British forces since driving out the Taliban in April, sparked outrage among politicians, who accused the al-Qaeda-linked militant group of atrocities against villagers. It was the second execution of a child attributed to the Taliban in three months....

So.  The recent hanging of a six year old is what the Taliban call propaganda.  They don't believe in written or visual arts when it comes to propaganda, they rather hang a perfectly innocent child that might even admire soldiers to oppression the population.

When are Afghan citizens going to rise up against their oppressors?  Never?  They have soldiers at their side and they still won't stand up to this hideous treatment.  They don't believe in human rights?  Or.  Ahhhh...is this just a bad neighbor Afghan style?

How is NATO and Great Britain ever going to instill the sense of self-preservation in these people?

Afghan insurgents hang 8-year-old boy  (click title to entry - thank you)
By RAHIM FAIEZ, Associated Press – 4 hours ago
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Insurgents in southern Afghanistan hanged an 8-year-old boy six days after they abducted him, the Afghan government said Sunday.
The boy's captors had demanded that his father, a police officer, supply them with a police vehicle and he refused, said a statement from President Hamid Karzai's office. The militants hanged the boy Friday in Helmand province's Gereshk district.
"President Karzai both strongly condemns this act and rejects it as a brutal and cowardly crime that is not acceptable in any religion or culture," the statement said. It referred to the killers as "terrorists," but did not say if they belonged to the Taliban or another of the insurgent movements fighting foreign forces and their Afghan allies....

I just don't see it.  2007 was before President Obama took office and after the country was abandoned by "W," but, not by NATO and the 2007 incident was in a British held area.

?????????????????????

What are we doing there?

There is a side to this that keeps evading public scrutiny.

For as crazy as he may be, forcing medication now won't do anything.  However, preventing 'guns on the street' that allow mass killings can.

If Loughner didn't have the gun, the extended clip and the bullets in excess of what he could carry, those people wouldn't be dead, now would they?

Court denies emergency request to block forced medication of Loughner (click title to entry - thank you)

A federal appeals court late Friday denied an emergency request to block the forced medication of Jared Lee Loughner, the man accused in the Jan. 8 Tucson shooting spree that killed six and wounded 13, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Tucson.
A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied the requrest from Loughner’s attorneys for detailed, daily medical records to determine if the medication violated an earlier court order halting treatment. The court denied the request without prejudice, allowing defense attorneys to continue to pursue the issue in district court.
Loughner’s attorneys had filed the emergency motion Thursday, claiming that prison officials had started medicating Loughner against his will Monday in direct violation of a circuit court order less than a week earlier to stop such treatment...

In, Norway, there was a massacre.  In a society void of violence, there was a massacre.  The TEMPLATE for the bombing came from a legacy of a mass murderer in the USA.

There would not be anything even a glock with an extended clip would have done to stop the murderer of so many on that island.  Nothing.  He was so well armed there would have been no chance of stopping him.  Where did he get that weapon and how did it go unnoticed in Norway?

I have more questions than the NRA has answers as to how the USA exports violence as well as guns.

I think the GOP hates Debbie's hair. I don't understand what else it could be. Unless. She is too competitive for someone more delicate.

Debbie has always been one of the most competitive Democrats in the caucus.  Asking her to back down from that now would be like asking her to become a Republican or even something less horrible.
Updated: 12/3/08 5:59 PM EDT

The same members (click here) of Congress who’d been positioning themselves for vice chair leading up to a recent election are still interested now that the winner of that contest, Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.), may be stepping aside to become U.S. trade representative, congressional aides said.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) is “considering a run for vice chair,” said spokesman Jonathan Beeton. A source close to Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.) said that he is interested in running for the spot as well.
Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) has spoken to both of them, according to a Democratic insider, and is close to both of them, putting him in a difficult spot. He supported Crowley in a previous leadership race against now-Caucus-chairman Rep. John Larson (Conn.). Wasserman Schultz, however, backed Hoyer in his race against Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) for Majority Leader in 2006. Murtha is a close Pelosi friend and political ally....
At least the most vulnerable of our citizens actually has someone on their side.  Imagine that?
...Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, (click here) the powerful Democratic National Committee chair who represents much of South Florida north of Miami, isn’t yet keen to break with the old talking points on Medicare and Social Security spending.
“We should start by getting rid of tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires and for oil companies
making record profits,” she said in an e-mail to Bloomberg Businessweek. “What we cannot do is attempt to balance the budget solely on the backs of seniors, children, and the middle class.”...

It isn't as though Debbie is attacking a Lt. Col. as Rep. Allen West is now a political figure with a distinguished military record.  I am certain the GOP has high hopes for Rep. West.  However, I don't believe his position on the entitlements of SSI, Medicare and Medicaid are going over well and it isn't just Debbie.

...The town hall drew a number of protesters, (click title of entry for video - thank you) some of whom were led out of the event by security after heckling the Congressman. West's Democratic-leaning district is considered among the most vulnerable in 2012....

Debbie is NOT in the video with the protesters.  Right?  Okay, then.

Viking (click title to entry - thank you)

Experiments prompted by a 2008 surprise from NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander suggest that soil examined by NASA's Viking Mars landers in 1976 may have contained carbon-based chemical building blocks of life.

The Gale Crater stratigraphy is fascinating. So much is exactly like Earth.

The exposed olivine (click title to entry - thank you) speaks for itself to some extent, doesn't it?  In Earth's atmosphere, on the surface, it weathers so quickly.  There are a lot of tornadoes reported on Mars.  No one has stated how they are rated on an F Scale either.  They are picked up by satellite though.  They must be incredibly dynamic.  Their tracings do show up in those satellite pictures as well.  I can't help believe the lost rovers were due to intersection of air turbulence.

In some ways, Mars is predictable, yet there are contradictions as well.  I would love to see a film made by NASA explaining what they find about Mars that is similar to Earth.  The soils are so similar, yet, there is so much iron and magnesium, at least, at the Gale Crater.

So, has Wall Street been purchasing mineral rights there yet?

Gale Crater

...The Mars Science Laboratory (click title to entry - thank you)  rover, nicknamed Curiosity, is slated to launch around Thanksgiving this year and to arrive at Gale crater in the late spring of 2012. The car-size rover will be the first astrobiology experiment on Mars since the Viking mission in 1976....

NASA has unveiled new details (click here) on its first big post-shuttle mission, and the agency has already picked the perfect name for the rover that will be doing all the heavy lifting: Curiosity.
The $2.5 billion, car-sized rover will be fired off into space later this year, tasked with navigating its 10 different science instruments and 17 cameras over to the Gale Crater on Mars. It's a 96-mile-wide area just a little south of the planet's Martian equator that scientists hope will be able to shed more clues about the possibility of life on Mars at a prior point in its history.
"We believe that at Gale Crater, we have located that boundary where life may have sprung up and where it may have been extinguished," said John Mustard, planetary geologist at Brown University, in a statement. "That's why we're going there."
Scientists caution that the purpose of this mission is not to find...

A thinly veiled assault against diversity and the USA Constitution by an extremist Governor.

After eight years of faith based initiatives under the "W" administration the language to separate church and state has become so muddied that the 'faith based initiative' could actually be seen as an assault against public employees again, give the radical agenda of so many other Republican governors.

It seems to me that taking a faith based state law to the level of Amendment to the State Constitution is inappropriate and simply getting closer to making precedent that ends the separation at all.  I do view this as an assault against the Constitution of the USA.

...An effort to derail (click title to entry - thank you) a state constitutional amendment that would enable religious organizations to deliver state services is an ill-conceived "Hail Mary" ploy, defenders say.

Alleging a violation of church-state separation and a "misleading" ballot summary, the Florida Education Association and a handful of left-wing religious leaders want Amendment 7 thrown off the ballot before Floridians can
vote on it in 2012...

Holy Men don't want this either.  The ACLU is not evil either.  I mean honestly.  Some of the dialogue from the Political Right  in this country is horrible.  They have no other words except words of bias and hate.  No real arguments based in facts or understanding, only appealing to the least in all of us.  I want to know if the Bible or religion is under siege by the USA government, because, the only church closings I noted were brought on when parishes could not continue to afford to keep them open.  Go figure.  They have non-profit status and still can't' survive financially.  And of course there are ways to care for the poor other than compassion under a Republican dictate, right?  NOT !!!

...Florida's largest teachers' union (click here)  joined the American Civil Liberties Union and several rabbis and ministers seeking to halt a 2012 ballot measure they say falsely couches a push to allow school vouchers in the language of religious freedom. The groups filed a lawsuit against the secretary of state Wednesday to prevent the measure.

"We’re trying to get it off the ballot because it’s misleading," Andy Ford, president of the Florida Education Association, told The Huffington Post. "Our suit is saying that you need truth in advertising, so don't call it religious freedom."

The amendment, which will appear for a vote on the 2012 ballot, would change a piece of Florida's constitution known as a "Blaine Amendment" that denies public dollars from being spent "directly or indirectly in aid of any church, sect, or religious....

Could it be the quality of life for the North Koreans is becoming a priority with its government?

North Korean leader Kim Jong Il acknowledging applause from soldiers as he inspects the Korean People's Army Unit.

Do I dare be optimistic that North Korea sees the benefit of benevolent relationships?  One can only hope.  Thank you, Secretary Clinton.

July 24, 2011

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Sunday that Kim Kye Gwan, North Korea's first vice minister and former chief nuclear envoy, will visit New York this week to meet with senior U.S. officials.

Clinton said Kim will meet with an interagency team of U.S. officials for discussions on the next steps necessary to resume denuclearization negotiations through the six party talks, involving the two Koreas, the U.S., China, Japan and Russia....

This Country Beats France

Michael Moore paid tribute to Norway. He is correct. The higher quality of life a country has the more benevolent the society becomes simply because the monies for war are spent no more.

Until this heinous act Norway was at peace within its own borders. A monster acted out of hate for all the wrong reasons, although his peers might way otherwise. But, his acts were inspired by another monster the USA 'grew at home,' namely Timothy McVeigh. McVeigh had his reason, too.

This short film by Moore outlines some of the incredible dedications by Norway to find benign energy, nationalize their oil fields and the best management of its treasury for generations. There is no way this single act by a monster should judge the people of this country. Norway cannot protect itself from more monsters inspired by the heinous acts of one of their own. At the very least, Neo-Nazis have to be added to lists of individuals viewed as dangerous and suspicious for acts of violence if found to be entering Norway. There should be cooperation internally to achieve a goal to protect Norway.

The Norwegian Prison System is based in rehabilitation, not the supposed effect of prevention by a death sentence.  The rehabilitation is the focus, not the punishment.   By USA Standards it seems all very counter-intuitive, but, that simply reminds me of how sincerely profoundly powerful 'political self speak' actually is.  It is why criminality in the media has to be addressed, prosecuted and monitored.  The messages are powerful and can be the undertone of a country.

(AFP) – 2 hours ago
LONDON — A British police officer was in Norway liaising with police on Sunday over the attacks which killed at least 93 people as Foreign Secretary William Hague warned of the increasing "lone-wolf" threat.
At least seven people were killed in a car bomb blast outside government buildings in Oslo on Friday and, hours later, a further 85 were shot dead on the nearby island of Utoeya, where a Labour party youth meeting was being held....

The violence in Norway needs to have a higher calling for all of us.

The reason this happened in Norway is because the country embraces difference.  At the basis of that is the reasoning that all people want peace, harmony and life more than they want difference.  No higher calling for a society for such a poison to exist as this.
The Prime Minister of Norway needs to bring the international community together to resolve the hatred found on a global scale that costs innocent people there lives.
We have seen similar such ideologies in the USA with the deaths of Columbine High School.  But, it is well known the Nazi proliferaters are global throughout populations.  They are dangerous.  They have a manifesto.  A modern day manifesto.  I believe they are as much a threat to any country as was witnessed in Norway.
This monster called himself a Zionist.  I do not believe any Israeli would consent to such hatred of innocent people and certainly not a slaughter as senseless as this.  Israel knows that peace relies on acceptance of the present with goals of peace that will last forever.  This is not the way a global community needs to see hate.  In a country such as Norway there has to be a penalty for hate alone as well its actions.   We really need to go there.

OSLO, Norway - Anders Behring Breivik (click title to entry - thank you) said he was a boy when his life's path began to turn. It was during the first Gulf War, when a Muslim friend cheered at reports of missile attacks against American forces.
"I was completely ignorant at the time and apolitical but his total lack of respect for my culture (and Western culture in general) actually sparked my interest and passion for it," the suspect in Norway's bombing and mass shooting wrote in his 1,500-page manifesto.
The 32-year-old Norwegian said it was the NATO bombing of Serbia in 1999 that "tipped the scales" for him because he sympathized with Serbia's crackdown on ethnic Albanian Muslims in Kosovo. A year later he said he realized that what he called the "Islamization of Europe" couldn't be stopped by peaceful means....

The Lincoln Precedent

“The validity of the public debt of the United States, (click title to entry - thank you)  authorized by law, including debts incurred for payments of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion,” the critical sentence says, “shall not be questioned.”

Granted there is an ill prepared Supreme Court to uphold this precedent, but, the late President Lincoln obviously saw the potential of the USA being under siege from within again.  He was more than correct.  The extremists that were elected in 2010 was an obvious take over by ideologues not ready or able to govern.  They were elected by monies of Plutocratic Republicans empowered by a corrupted Supreme Court full of hubris and self-righteousness.

Never before has the USA defaulted on bills already made in goof faith to those that see themselves as beneficiaries of our endeavors.  To deny the need for timely bill that is well prepared if it is not to be a simple document to raise the debt ceiling at this very, very, very late hour is a more than treasonous act against the sovereignty of the USA.

There is evidence to that effect.  It isn't just 'the event' of the debt and the debt ceiling, it goes beyond that.  l.  The attack on the Affordable Health Care Act 'in majority' is in one district Appeal's Court which focuses the opposition under a microscope of where radical changes are made by extremist conservatives.  I don't care if it is politics, it is extremism at its worse manifesting in a democracy with high esteem for difference.

There is also this and it cannot be ignored for what it is:

Thousands of federal aviation workers furloughed (click here)
(AFP) – 48 minutes ago

WASHINGTON — Millions of dollars in US airport taxes went uncollected Sunday while thousands of federal workers were out of work for a second day, following Congress' failure last week to pass a bill keeping the country's aviation authority running.
Some 4,000 workers with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) were told to stay home beginning Saturday, after congressional authorization for several FAA programs expired at 12:01 a.m. that day.
As a result, FAA employees in 35 states, as well as in Puerto Rico and Washington, DC are furloughed without pay, US officials said.
Observers said the disabled federal agency foreshadows what could happen around Washington and across the country if Congress fails to reach a deal in its separate negotiations with the White House over a debt ceiling, as it tries to avert a catastrophic federal default before an August 2 deadline....

This lack of willingness to allow unions to exist when the federal laws protect these workers is a direct assault on our democracy and our freedoms.  Not only that, but, it is a direct assault on a fragile economy where workers are keeping their homes from paycheck to paycheck.  This is more than inexcusable, it is illegal and treasonous to say the least.  Any and I do mean any action that 'disables' this democracy by weakening its citizens is an act of treason.

...But efforts to harmonize the House and Senate (click here) measure have faltered because Republicans have inserted a number of controversial provisions into the proposed compromise, including a measure that would make it harder for airline and railroad employees to unionize.

When the wide spread acts by extremists of the Republican Party that have occupied the House and Senate for the sole purpose of obstruction of the will of the people has to be stated for what it is.  Politicking for the purpose of disabling the USA is as drastic as a civil war of which one Tea Party candidate, namely Rick Perry, would not mind have happen as he has stated himself. In the USA South, the Civil War never sincerely ended, just postponed.

The Lincoln Precedent is a relevant today as it was then.  It is all too clear.

Marvin Gaye "What's Going On / What's Happening Brother" - I could not believe this artist does not have an official website. Elvis does.

Mother, mother
There's too many of you crying
Brother, brother, brother
There's far too many of you dying
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today - Ya

Father, father
We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today

Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me, so you can see
Oh, what's going on
What's going on
Ya, what's going on
Ah, what's going on

In the mean time
Right on, baby
Right on
Right on

Father, father, everybody thinks we're wrong
Oh, but who are they to judge us
Simply because our hair is long
Oh, you know we've got to find a way
To bring some understanding here today
Oh

Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me
So you can see
What's going on
Ya, what's going on
Tell me what's going on
I'll tell you what's going on - Uh
Right on baby
Right on baby

House Speaker John Boehner is not a leader, he is a follower.

Boner still hasn't learned the fine art of leadership in the USA House of Representative.  But, who ever said he appreciates art.  Cantor is unable to pivot enough to get out of his chair these days.

One could easily argue there are three parties in the House, but, if Boner sincerely expressed that no matter how much he may believe it, even if fleeting, he would no longer be sitting in the Speaker's chair now would he?

There is currently 192 Democratic members to the House of Representative.  Those seats are primarily Democratic seats in most any election, so the demographics of the House are not likely to change on the OPPOSITE side of the aisle.  Boner has not even attempted to reach across the aisle as it would be slapped away by the Tea Baggers.

Of the 240 Republicans there is something like 119 or so Freshman that belong to the Tea Party.  That is nearly half of the Republican Party in the House.  It is why Boner and the 'other' Republicans are bound and gagged from actually legislating.  The Republican side of the aisle is held hostage by their own extremist denomination, the Tea Baggers.  Spiritual as they might have the upper hand in the praying department, that doesn't amount to anything in the legislative department.

If Speaker Boehner would simply walk across the aisle to pass House legislation that would actually pass the Senate and would be signed by the President, the country could solve its problems.  Not just some of its problems but all its problems including its debt ceiling and joblessness where applicable.

The problem with Speaker Boner is that he is playing second fiddle to extremists in hopes in 2012 there is an Extremist Senate majority and an extremist in the Executive Branch.  That is hardly prudent, patriotic or competent!

If John Boehner actually lead and partnered with Democrats in a dynamically successful and flourishing House and country, his extremist half of the Republican majority would learn quickly how to make votes matter rather than destructive.

There is a history of not even one year of a failed House.  How much longer is that going to continue and how much changing of the guard in the Speaker's seat will occur before we finally find someone competent enough to actually pass legislation?
