Reaction to Bush's Speech - I don't find much ,merit in it.

His 'education' focus has changed to High Schools, gangs and increasing Pell Grants. They are all great ideas, but, where are the tax increases?

Oh, wait, the funding must be coming from $2 trillion dollar windfall on SSI Reform.

Yep, this is it the embellishment of lies.

Bush pressed 'Clear Skies' - It's insufficient and I would love to hear what Christy Whitman has to say about it.

Is Bush talking about an effective energy program that replaces 'fossil fuels?'

LIKE the 'Clear Skies' of Britian perhaps. Clear Skies, funded by DTI and managed by BRE, aims to give householders and communities a chance to realise the benefits of renewable energy by providing grants and access to sources of advice. Householders can obtain grants between £400 to £5000 whilst not-for-profit community organisations can receive up to £100,000 for grants.

... as long it is not funded by a Bush grant or organized by a paid journalist.

I suppose there has to be some effort to 'save' Social Security but I am not convinced that is so. Now is a good time to explore that possibility, but, to jump into $2 trillion debt when all Bush has done is promise to reduce the deficit by 50%, RATHER THAN A DOLLAR figure, by the year 2010 is irresponsible. But, to date nothing this administration has done is responsible. If Bush is to resolve the deficit he has to raise taxes. He mentioned nothing about raising taxes.

Bush coins the 'Cult of Life' from religious leaders. He doesn't mind killing large numbers of people for the sake of oil though. 100 Iraqis dead for every USA soldier killed. The number in Iraq wounded, maimed is significant. The USA sustains 15,000 soldiers disabled.

BUSH'S statement is already defeated. More "Pro Life" grandstanding. He has decided to stop at 'embryonic stem cells' rather than a promise about abortion he can't and morally should not keep.

Promoting war by stating
"A No Fear Agenda"
"...defeat the dangers of our time." Bush is a danger of our time.

Bush uses the Politics of Fear to maintain his support, by reclaiming the word 'fear' he attempts to mask his own use of it. I believe when he mentioned this issue he projected it onto women in a characterization of a young girl. He is a predator of the fears of women. When those fears are rational or irrational. It is an abuse of women emotionally.

ElBaradei Challenges Leaders To Beef Up NPT

LONDON, Feb. 2--The chief UN nuclear inspector challenged world leaders Wednesday to show the political will to beef up the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty at an upcoming international conference. Writing in the Financial Times newspaper, Mohammed ElBaradei, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, set out a number of steps to enhance the NPT without having to rewrite it, AFP reported. The NPT prohibits the transfer of nuclear weapons and the technology to make them, between the 188 nations which have put their names to the treaty since 1968. Signatory nations include the five main nuclear powers--Britain, France, China, Russia and the United States--but not emerging nuclear states India, Pakistan or Israel, while North Korea pulled out of the NPT in 2003.

Algal Blooms provide 60% of breathable oxygen on Earth.

This is a December 2004 Algal Bloom at the delta of the Mississippi River. It clearly illustrates what happens when ocean water receives nutrients that algae can use. They 'bloom' or reproduce in mass numbers. In the absence of those nurtients they will not propagate that quickly. Posted by Hello

The all too familiar pattern of clouds stretching across the picture is a 'heat transfer system' streaming from the equator to the North Polar Cap. The North Polar Cap is the 'ice cube' to Earth. It keeps our ocean temperatures benevolent. We have already melted 3000 year old ice of the Hunt Ice Field. That was recorded two years ago. It has advanced far more in those two years. There are ice terrance collapse in Antarctica. Humans need to make Global Warming 'top priority' to stem the complete collapse of Earth's troposphere.

The Ice Fields and Ice Caps have doubled their melt in the last two years. We are not completely on a slippery slope but we are darn close to it. When Earth systems start to collapse it will be like dominos and happen very quickly. Meantime, the weather will continue to cause deadly droughts, storms and hostile microclimates.

Climate change 'will hit Africa hardest'

Urgent action must be taken in order to prevent Africa from bearing the brunt of global warming, a scientific conference on climate change was told today.

US encouraged to act on climate change

KAREN PERCY: In one of the biggest gatherings of the world's top climate scientists for several years, researchers from 30 countries are in the English city of Exeter for talks on the threats of global warming.

Impacts Of Climate Change

Africa could bear the brunt of the damage from projected human-induced climate change, according to Bill Hare, Visiting Scientist, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.

SA warned of climate change impact

The Conservation Council of South Australia says unless urgent action is taken to address climate change, there will be more natural catastrophes such as the Eyre Peninsula fires.
The council has backed Premier Mike Rann's call for a national summit on climate change, which he hopes can be held before the end of this year.

Dramatic change in West Antarctic ice could produce 16ft rise in sea levels

By Michael McCarthy, Environment Editor
02 February 2005

British scientists have discovered a new threat to the world which may be a result of global warming. Researchers from the Cambridge-based British Antarctic Survey (BAS) have discovered that a massive Antarctic ice sheet previously assumed to be stable may be starting to disintegrate, a conference on climate change heard yesterday. Its collapse would raise sea levels around the earth by more than 16 feet.

RUNAWAY CLIMATE CHANGE POSSIBLE

Scientists at a global warming conference in England say they see potential triggers for runaway climate change but admit that when and how they may be unleashed are quite unknown.

THIS IS THE ISSUE people fail to consider as a highly charged political issue. George Walker Bush has 'set up' the people of the USA for failure in preparation for Climate Change. Much of the USA will be susceptible to heat that will increase the highest summer temperature a minimum of eleven degrees. People will die. Storms will be highly destructive including tornado outbreaks as the North Polar Cap fails. People around the world will die by the high global temperatures and adverse weather if this situation remains unabated.

Currently the heat is building. The density of carbon dioxide is still increasing. Every once in awhile I see a 'glimmer' of hope in Earth resolving it's current geophysics in the manifestation of the Jet Stream over the vortexess. I honestly don't see it happening without intervention. Targeted Ocean Seeding to increase body weight of baleens and other fisheries will pull carbon dioxide out of the troposphere without returning it. The algal blooms we currently experience on Earth are beneficial as they provide 60% of the breathable oxygen but for the algae that die without consumption or becoming detritis at the bottom of the ocean that carbon dioxide returns to the troposphere.

The failure of an attempt to 'cool' Earth by reducing carbon dioxide through 'Targeted' Ocean Seeding is that as the oceans heat the algae will crenate in the heat and there will be no species alive to use the carbon dioxide enhances with added seeded nutrients. If that happens human life on Earth will not be possible as the breathable oxygen saturation around the planet will fall below 21% and there will be mass anoxia.

I have faith that algae will continue to adapt/mutate to survive at higher ocean temperatures as they reproduce into many generations in short periods of time allowing genetic diversity to provide NEW species for our continued oxygen supply. There is absolutely no guarantees that will happen.

The best that can happen is for Human Induced Global Warming to be reversed by reducing carbon dioxide levels while continuing to hold methane at it's current levels or less.

Recently there was a return of the Jet Stream in a 'crude' pursuit around the Northern Hemisphere. That is very encouraging to realize there is still potential for Earth to return to 'normal' tropospheric balance. I wasn't sure that was possible until this past week.

I'll write again.

Next Steps in Iraq

The New Iraqi Coalition Government needs to address The United Nations General Assembly to bring to bear a resolution taking The Dayton Peace Accords as a model to bring about a stable and peaceful Iraq. The parites involved in such a process will have to be representatives from the new 'elected' government and representatives of the Sunnis who were wrongfully estranged from the political process in Iraq by the wrongful aggressions in Fallujah by Bush. There was no voting in that hamlet due to the resistance of the Sunnis.

The USA Republican Neocons have no peaceful measure for Iraq following the elections. They say there should be no 'artifical' deadlines for withdrawal of troops from Iraq but yet there have been plenty of artifical deadlines for every other date set arbitrarily. Sistani may have insisted the voting go forward but he didn't set the initial date which excluded most of the Sunnis, an entire ethnic division.

The New York Times editorial is embellished in it's attempt to justify an unnecessary war by looking the other way at the methods this election was achieved and the level of dead and innocent Iraqis that will never grow into adulthood or those that would have voted but were denied life because of a very poorly conceived, illegal and immoral invasion.

All of this could have happened by removing Saddam and without endangering the people of Iraq. It happened in Bosnia and Herzegovina and with that I point out what should have been the focus the editorial. The New York Times chronically panders to this president either out of it's inability to reach beyond the violence or it's refusal to do so. Pandering to criminals is the last thing this newspaper should be doing.

THE NEXT STEP IN IRAQ IS NOT MILITARY. Is is however the de-escalation of the confrontation that started the most violent movement yet in Iraq resulted from the alienation of the Sunnis. I propose the use of Bosnia-Herzegovina as a model for the stabilization of Iraq and NATO ,which Russia is longing to be a part of, has the most experience in this area.

The USA military never provided comfort to the people of Iraq as the reconstruction never ensued and the monies were funneled instead into bolstering further confrontation of the Sunni rebels in Iraq. To finish the thought each ethnic group, of which two are already settled into peaceful strongholds and a third that finds itself injured and alienated could easily be seen as confronting boundaries with the need for stabilization with the addition of a 'centralized government' as a goal.

The USA has to begin withdrawal. Our presence there is wrong and once again as with Bosnia-Herzegovina we need 'peacekeeping' and not further confrontation.

The Dayton Agreement is a world renowned doctrine with it's inception realized under President Bill Clinton. Greatest again can be realized in Iraq by applying the basis of Dayton. Dayton formed a multi-ethnic and democratic government while maintaining the sovereign boundaries of each country.

With that said, again, we are looking not to the war mongering Bush/Cheney who maintain their precense in the area to irritate Iran while securing their profits with Halliburton; but to the United Nations to settle the peace in Iraq and to NATO to organize it and decide it's 'tone' and approach.

The USA needs to leave Iraq and stop Allawis co-dependancy on OUR military and not Iraq's.

A look at Dayton:

Dayton Peace Accord

There aren't many lawyers who can say they made a country.

From 1991 to 1995, Yugoslavia was a nation torn apart by war. Friends, neighbors, even family members, were split along ethnic lines and bent on destroying one another. The three warring ethnic groups—the Bosnian Serbs, Bosnian Muslims and Bosnian Croats—shocked the conscience of the international community with their actions.
