December 31, 2005. 0030z The hemispheric water vapor satellite. There is a huge low pressure system that literally took all the equatorial air into the USA starting with the Southeast USA. Also still another heat plumb in the center of the country reaching all the way to the east coast. Tropical Storm ZETA can be noted just west of Africa.

These same storms were causing heavy surf all along the coast. A large west-northwest swell continued to affect the outer coastal waters of Southern California today.
