This is a graph that appears in "Mongo Bay." (click here)  The fine print at the bottom of the graph states it was created through research by "Hansen." That is James Hansen. Besides the obvious tree cover (canopy) loss what I find most interesting is the vast increase in the loss after Trump was elected president and Former President Dilma Vana Rousseff was removed from office on 31 August 2016

Trump may as well have said, "Money first, second, third and fourth; and the people will fall in line."

“I’m not going to lose that (energy) wealth on dreams, on windmills,...”

There is his methodology right there.

"I'm not going to lose the (health care) wealth on dreams, on Medicare for all...."

"I'm not going to lose the (educational loan) wealth on dreams, on free higher education,;;"

"I'm not going to lose the (Interior Department) wealth on dreams, on EPA regulations..."

You name it and before any decisions are made Trump measures the wealth that is being lost to Wall Street regardless of the people

-------------------------------------------------------.

The idea of world leaders meeting at a Trump property is absurd. The current activities of Trump on Trump properties cannot be secured the Secret Service. There are people that turn up without any understanding as to why they are on the Trump property only to find out it is a Chinese operative looking for information.

When security is required at the Trump Tower in New York City, there are dump trucks filled with sand parked around the entire building as a barrier to any attempt by car bombs and terrorists.

The Trump properties are about luxury and easy access to customers. It is not workable. Camp David is the only practical answer for the next G7 in the USA.

Since Trump only values wealth, perhaps the climate crisis might receive awareness from him with the burgeoning emergency in Jakarta, Indonesia. Jakarta is a global financial center. It is sinking into the Java Sea due to sea level rise and subsidence due to oil extraction over decades.

26 August 2019

...It's also one of the fastest-sinking cities on Earth, (click here) according to the World Economic Forum, dropping into the Java Sea at an alarming rate due to over-extraction of groundwater.
The city sits on swampy ground and hugs the sea to the north, making it especially prone to flooding.
A worsening air pollution crisis, exacerbated by near-constant traffic congestion on its roads, has grown so dire that some residents sued the Indonesian government in July.
No name has been given for the new site, but the government originally announced plans to relocate the capital in April. The move requires parliamentary approval to be given the go-ahead.
Indonesia owns the majority of Borneo, the world's third-largest island, with Malaysia and Brunei each holding parts of its northern region. The island is covered in vast rainforests, but it has been hit by rampant deforestation in recent years.

BYOB, who ever heard of counterfeit alcohol.

Costa Rica's Ministry of Health (click here) says a total of 59 people have consumed tainted alcohol as the death toll due to the liquor rose to 25 in the Central American tourist destination.

According to a press release on the agency's website, 19 men and six women between the ages of 32 and 72 have died since June.

The Ministry of Health said it had closed 10 establishments and seized more than 55,000 containers of alcohol it said were laced with methanol, a colorless, poisonous alcohol found in antifreeze.

Adding methanol to distilled beverages allows sellers to increase the volume of liquid, as well as its potential potency, according to SafeProof, an organization that lobbies against counterfeit alcohol....

There is no indication from "China Daily" that high level talks between Trump and Xi are actually taking place.

Washington blasted for imposing an unworkable '1930s strategy' on tariffs

China (click here) won't give in to extreme pressure by the United States on tariffs and will firmly defend its core interests, as it has sufficient countermeasures available, experts said.

The reaction came after the Ministry of Commerce expressed strong opposition on Saturday to a new threat of additional tariffs by the US on about $550 billion worth of Chinese imports. The ministry urged Washington to reverse course immediately or be prepared to "bear all the consequences".

The fresh retaliatory threat by the US violates the consensus reached between the countries' top leaders and severely undermines the multilateral trading system and normal international trade order, the ministry said, adding that Washington will eat the bitter fruit of its own actions.

Gu Xueming, head of the ministry's Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, said none of the extreme pressure tactics and intimidation by the US will work with China, which will unswervingly protect itself.

In the future, the country's countermeasures will be more rational, firmer and more powerful, Gu said at a seminar in Beijing on Sunday....

The first American spacecraft  (click here) expected to land on the moon in nearly 50 years will be an unmanned robotic lander.
The aerospace company Astrobotic Technology told Reuters it expects to launch the spacecraft named Peregrine in the summer of 2021 from Florida’s Cape Canaveral. The company said Peregrine will be the first American spacecraft to land on the moon since Apollo astronauts last touched down there in 1972. The mission will bring technology and experiments to the moon to prepare for human flights by 2024.
The spacecraft will use the Vulcan rocket developed by an alliance between U.S. aerospace companies Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Tory Bruno is chief executive of the United Launch Alliance (ULA). Bruno told Reuters, “Our first flight on Vulcan is also the first big step in going back to the moon.”
The Vulcan rocket was selected over the reusable rocket from SpaceX, a company owned by Elon Musk of carmaker Tesla. It is powered by engines from Blue Origin, a company started by Jeff Bezos of Amazon. Blue Origin also is working on a heavy-lift rocket....
