Niger neighbours also face hunger

The food crisis had been predicted for almost a yearThe food crisis in Niger also threatens three other countries in the region - Mali, Burkina Faso and Mauritania, the United Nations has warned.

At least 2.5m people in the three countries need food aid and like Niger they were hit by drought and a plague of locusts last year.
Niger's president is due to visit the worst hit south of his country, where aid is now beginning to arrive.


The UN's food agency says it expects to feed 250,000 people within a few days.

July 26, 2005. There is a developing pattern that is normally seen in a hurricane season. There are more circulation centers coming off Africa. There is also noted dense storms near the Great Lakes as well.  Posted by Picasa

July 26, 2005. UNISYS Enhanced Infrared GOES East Satellite.

Hurricane Franklin is still churning in the Atlantic and there is a huge 'heat' transfer system from the Equator at Panama all along the continent of North America to the Arctic Circule. There is an interesting air movement south east of "Franklin" but hasn't turned into anything yet.Posted by Picasa
