Martin Luther King, Jr. is being commenmorated this weekend.

Nature and the environment certainly aren’t the first topics that come to mind when reflecting on the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. The Civil Rights movement predated the environmental movement by a decade.

But as a visionary, King talked about many issues that touched on justice and spoke against the separation of moral judgement from technological advancements. And King’s legacy gave fruit to the environmental justice movement, which seeks to ensure the right to a clean and healthy environment to all people.  Also, he often framed issues in the universal terminology of the natural world.

We’ve compiled a list of choice quotes from King that bring nature to Civil Rights. What do his words mean to you?

1.  “It really boils down to this: that all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied into a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one destiny, affects all indirectly.”

2. “Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”

3. Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.

4. We must rapidly begin the shift from a ‘thing-oriented’ society to a ‘person-oriented’ society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered.

5. I just want to do God’s will. And he’s allowed me to go to the mountain. And I’ve looked over, and I’ve seen the promised land! I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land.

6. From the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire, let freedom ring. From the mighty mountains of New York, let freedom ring. From the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania, let freedom ring. But not only that: Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

7. “Only in the darkness can you see the stars.”

8. “We have flown the air like birds and swum the sea like fishes, but have yet to learn the simple act of walking the earth like brothers.”

Good Night,

Until next week and the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

I think this is a great video from "Gillette." (click here for the status of the "Violence Against Women Act."

"Gillette" THE BEST A MAN CAN GET (click here for official website - thank you)

The brutal dialogue in the USA is toxic. The "tough guy" is very unattractive and it hurts men and boys. "Disneyland Dad" and "Deadbeat Dad" is all a part of the toxic culture for men.

On March 21, 2005 FOX News reported "Chief Justice Rehnquist Returns to the Court."

After missing 44 oral arguments before the Court in late 2004 and early 2005, Rehnquist appeared on the bench again on March 21, 2005.

I expect the same respect for age and stature on the Supreme Court to be extended to the woman, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Justice Ginsburg is NOT a political issue, she is an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States of America. The impatience in some of the press with Justice Ginsberg is based in hatred of women and discrimination of gender and age.

KNOCK IT OFF!

On this blog, when Chief Justice Rehnquist was ill I demanded respect for him as well. He died while serving on the Supreme Court and the country mourned his loss. I've heard quite enough political hate in regard to an elderly woman Associate Justice. Somehow such idiocy is appropriate since Justice Ginsburg has been cutting edge all her life, why should her golden years be any different?

The country looks forward to her return to the hearing room. Obviously, her bench travels with her.

There was plenty of conversations with the Russians. Add to these 12 Ms. Butina.

Washington — The special counsel (click here) investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election issued an indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers on Friday in the hacking of the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton presidential campaign. The indictment came only three days before President Trump was planning to meet with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia in Helsinki, Finland.

The 29-page indictment is the most detailed accusation by the American government to date of the Russian government’s interference in the 2016 election, and it includes a litany of brazen Russian subterfuge operations meant to foment chaos in the months before Election Day.

From phishing attacks to gain access to Democratic operatives, to money laundering, to attempts to break into state elections boards, the indictment details a vigorous and complex effort by Russia’s top military intelligence service to sabotage the campaign of Mr. Trump’s Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton....

..Rudy Guiiani state Trump's interest "petered out." It appears Guiliani is lying. (click here to the truth of the Clinton email status - thank you)

...In late 2014, the State Department asked Clinton and other former secretaries of state to hand over any work-related emails they may have.

By then, Clinton had already "deleted some [emails] over time as an ordinary user would," FBI Director James Comey told lawmakers at a July congressional hearing.

And she tasked her legal team to determine which of the roughly 60,000 emails still on her server were work-related....

There is no reason for the US House to hurry to receive any testimony before those testifying go to prison. Prisoners can make an appearance before Congress under guard. The US House should have thorough fact-finding before witnesses are called. I believe the US House needs to receive the Mueller investigation report before witnesses can be asked the questions necessary to determine the facts yet to be elusive.

The Trump Russian Deal was active until the election and for all we know it did not stop after the election. But, the candidacy for the presidency of the USA perfectly coincides with the Trump Russian Deal. Trump could not carry out his ambitions for the Russian/Moscow Tower without dissolving the Russian Sanctions that were applied because Russia broke an international treaty in regard to the autonomous status of Ukraine.

This new information about the ambitions of Trump to and probably past the election regarding the Moscow Tower shows the exact same personality as the man we witness in the White House today. Donald Trump is self-serving. He never decided to run for the presidency to benefit the people, Donald Trump ran for president to benefit himself.

The person in the White House occupying the Oval Office is self-serving and today the USA government is shrinking out of existence because of his political agenda for the USA Treasury. "The Wall" was manufactured by FOX News as a wedge issue long ago and it is used today for the exact same purpose. The USA is not receiving danger at its southern border. It is receiving desperate people unable to collect their paychecks in the own countries because of the lack of financial support for the sovereign government to end the drug cartels.

Trump is fueling the mass movement of people out of the Northern Triad by ignoring the importance of a sovereign and economically productive government in those three countries, to end the reign of drug cartels. The only way of getting that back now is by deploying the USA military to beat back the cartels and provide the need for employees to the businesses that must thrive.

I believe Donald Trump is untrustworthy of the power of the presidency. The case before the country regarding "The Wall" is one that clearly demonstrates how self-serving Donald Trump is when it comes to political dynamics. He is willing to shut down the USA government, which is corrupt on it's face, while the US Congress has put very viable solutions before him that simply need a signature. He has changed the demands for hideous amounts of funding three times, currently at $5.7 billion. THIS IS A CAMPAIGN PROMISE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE PAID FOR BY MEXICO. NOW, because his politics are failing he wants the USA Treasury to pay for his political promises. He is self-serving and even Texas doesn't want his wall.

The bills presented to the president for signature have turned into pocket vetoes. Below is from the US Senate website. The US House and Senate rightfully adjourned on December 22, 2018 because of Trump's obstinance. They have families, too. The Congress needs to pass a funding bill/CR and when Trump again refuses to sign it, stay in session until it can become law.

pocket veto (click here) - The Constitution grants the president 10 days to review a measure passed by the Congress. If the president has not signed the bill after 10 days, it becomes law without his signature. However, if Congress adjourns during the 10-day period, the bill does not become law.

This reality and it's power is illustrative of the importance of the people's legislature over and above that of the presidency.

The USA Treasury is NOT TO SPEND $5.7 billion on a campaign promise. The
TRUMP WALL is WRONG FOR THE COUNTRY. It is outrageous $5.7 billion of USA tax dollars which is from debt and not a surplus is included to shut up a political rant by Trump.
