Please think outside the box!

Ultimately a ventilator creates an area of negative pressure for the patient's chest moves in and out. The early ones were "Iron Lungs."

The Mechanical Ventilator: (click here) Past, Present, and Future

Until the modern ones arrive in hospitals, every option needs to be assessed including the use of apnea machines for less effected patients.

Apnea machines are used in hospitals and frequently patients are asked to bring their apnea machines with them when they go to same-day surgery AND the staff uses the machine post-surgery before the patient is fully recovered from the anesthesia.

Let me make this clear, currently, apnea machines are used in the ER for lungs full of fluid for patients with chronic problems such as Congestive Heart Failure.

The PRESSURE from the apnea machine can PUSH the water aside at the level of the alveoli where oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange.

This diagram is alveoli.

The problem with COVID-19 which kills people is the pneumonia. I doubt hospitals are using this machine for pneumonia, but, for lungs not completely blanketed with pneumonia, this may help. I doubt if these machines are licensed for pneumonia and I am sure there is no research to even know if it can work, but, it might and it might save lives when other measures are not available.

5N11 N95 PARTICULATE RESPIRATOR FILTER - PACK OF 10

Safe filter masks with N95 safety is possible. This is a filter REPLACEMENT filter. Hospitals can contact 3M directly and order with a purchase order. It should be possible to make PPE with filter replacements.

I am not sure how they can be made to be airtight, but, I am confident there are some great engineers that can figure it out for hospitals. Providing the design of "Make your own mask" and the materials and having the hospitals order them to a staff that is coached on how to make their own masks, could work. It is the high filtration and an airtight fit that is necessary. Some of these filters have a longer timeline of use before they are disposed of. Of course, the current system uses only disposable masks. It is ideal. But, with the right reusable materials that can be sterilized by simple methods, even soaking in a vinegar solution. The filter removed and stored in labeled containers for each nurse and the reuseable mask structure soaked for sterility, can provide reusable masks made by hand.

Disposable supplies were not always available in the medical field. That goes back in time, but, it was the case.

Nurses and doctors cannot get sick. Just that simple. There needs to be serious thinking about how does the country MAKE masks that keep them safe.

It is not right they are abandoned to, "Too bad" either.

The idea is that nurses fitted with PPE will work with Covid 19 patients. PPE, when disposable, is also in consideration of the patient as well, but, in all honesty PPE is about the professional. There is nothing wrong with a mask that protects the nurse all shift. A stethoscope is, albeit, wiped with alcohol swabs between patients, but, there is not a separate stethoscope for each patient.

I told you so. They are such crybabies.

The stock market produces nothing. Most people don't think about that. Why do companies buy back their stocks? Because Wall Street is good for them? No Because Wall Street WAS good for them.

AND.

Wall Street can be good for them again because they squandered their tax cut money.

An IPO is "Initial Public Offering." Think about that. What is the name of that show I never watch? Ahhhhh.  Oh, yeah, "Shark Tank." Interesting name. Like swimming with the sharks? Most CEOs don't, but, accept that reality.

Look, companies draw up an IPO because they need/want liquid capital. They open with a share price. Right? The company's CEO has to maintain its stock price or increase it. It is a lot of responsibility. It also adds risk to the company. It is a roller coaster and jobs depend on it if working for a company on the financial markets.

Family owned companies like Trump company, Koch and Walmart do not have IPOs but have their own liquid assets every day; casinos, petroleum and consumers. They pay the least of most companies. They provide the worst employee benefits because the profits are not issued with others, only the family.

So when a company, like GM or Ford, have a product to sell in large numbers there should be a modest income for stockholders. But, stockholders aren't happy with modest AND CONSISTENT earnings from the sale of cars and trucks. They want to be mad happy and that pushes CEOs to extend profits to be a multinational company and make hideous decisions like producing their vehicles in other countries because the labor market is dirt cheap. It wasn't always like this. Greed was a ridiculous idea.

If the stock markets completely failed. GLOBALLY FAILED. The brick and mortar would still be there. The CEO would still be there. The ability to manufacture would still be there. Cars and trucks would still be produced. Car dealers would have the challenge to find financing because the banks would be broke, but, if the system reset, the car dealers would MAKE A NEW VALUE of the cars on their lot and find a way to sell them anyway. CASH FLOW. That is the thing that keeps the USA economy running, not Wall Street.

Cash flow. How much of the USA cash flow does Wall Street receive everyday?

Indeed. "Shark Tank."

Senate Democrats (click here) today unveiled a student loan relief plan in response to the coronavirus, calling for immediate cancellation of monthly payments for the duration of the national emergency and the payment of at least $10,000 for all federal student loan borrowers.

The emergency plan was announced by Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Patty Murray (D-WA), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) today.

The proposal asks Congress to authorize the Department of Education to make the monthly payments for all federal loans, tax-free for borrowers.

The proposal also calls for the suspension of interest capitalization, a minimum $10,000 debt relief payoff for all federal loan borrowers, and the suspension of all involuntary debt collections or wage garnishment for borrowers who have defaulted....

Coronavirus: Boris Johnson says UK can 'turn the tide' within 12 weeks (click here more about the UK - thank you)

This effort in the UK also separates the Covid-19 deaths from those of other deaths as well. Reality is beginning to really take on a new level.

How long after death is a corpse still infected with the virus? Has anyone answered that question? China probably knows.

The government (click here) is coordinating plans for the creation of a network of temporary mortuaries nationwide to cope with the rising death toll from coronavirus.

The structures will be located in the worst-hit areas of the country as part of planning for what the Cabinet Office described as “the reasonable worst-case scenario”, which could lead to existing morgues being overwhelmed....

I have to ask the question what did the president know and when did he know it?

If Senator Burr was telling constituents three weeks ago about Covid-19, when did the USA government intelligence community actually know about the virus in China? Why did they do NOTHING about the transmission in the USA that was occurring ever since November or December 2020?

Certainly, the first public awareness was going to be known as more and more people were exposed and became ill in the USA. Eventually, it was all going to come out or was it supposed to blend in with the flu statistics?

The first case of someone in China (click here) suffering from Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, can be traced back to November 17, according to government data seen by the South China Morning Post.

Chinese authorities have so far identified at least 266 people who were infected last year, all of whom came under medical surveillance at some point.

Some of the cases were likely backdated after health authorities had tested specimens taken from suspected patients.

Interviews with whistle-blowers from the medical community suggest Chinese doctors only realised they were dealing with a new disease in late December....
I very sincerely thank the President for his words this morning. Seriously. Thank you.

Hydroxychloroquine is also known as Plaquinal. It is also used in severe autoimmune disorders. If this is an answer it will be a great achievement for this administration. It is certainly worth a look at.

Trump, the opportunist of all opportunists.

There is a very concerning article in the "Daily Beast." Evidently other White House staffers are worried about Navarro's dangerous ambitions. Evidently, he likes to wear a wire.

This is a good example of the wayward methods of the Trump administration. They don't look at their agenda as overly aggressive and damaging. The agenda as soon as possible is the only thing they understand and seek. Any opportunity to achieve it is sought.

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro (click here) has seized on negotiations over how to handle the economic fallout of the coronavirus to push President Trump to use the crisis to bolster his “Buy American” agenda—starting with domestic production of key medical goods and equipment.

His role, as described to The Daily Beast by several officials, has been aggressive enough to prompt serious pushback from other senior Trump officials, who are worried that Trump will be won over by the Buy American pitch, which will, in turn, have damaging consequences during the nation’s worst public-health and economic crises in years

I have ZERO sympathy for the financial markets. They are supposed to have insight into the needs of their consumer markets.

Personally, I think there was a lot of JUNK in the market and these losses, while some are associated with a White House that should have provided guidance rather than cover-up, the SHEDDING was also opportunistic. The losses are being balanced by INNOVATION and INVENTION. Investors will be fine. I am confident they all had dinner last night, even the Day Traders.

The whining occurred until the new opportunities arrived. INVEST IN GM and TESLA. They are heroes to this country.

Any job losses at this point should be compensated with unemployment INCLUDING TIP EARNERS. They are not a result of the loss of viable companies, so much as CAUTION JOB LOSSES to save lives.

This is temporary so long as Americans make it to be so. If Americans are going to put their lives at risk, they are not only foolish but making the emergency far longer than it has to be. They are extending the downward and flattening curve.

The unpredictability of the financial markets gives a definitive reason to save social security. Maybe Bernie is right, increase the social security checks. 401K is not a stable and reliable source of retirement.

TRAVERSE CITY – Two Traverse City companies (click here) are working together to offer drive-through COVID-19 testing centers that would include the tent to house staff and the software that would facilitate testing and samples that would be sent to laboratories to determine if the person tested has coronavirus.
Russell Schindler, CEO of SampleServe, has spent more than a decade developing a digital environmental sampling app that includes a Bluetooth label printer, barcoded and QR coded labels to track all the sample details.
Eliminating the paperwork normally associated with lab sample data login reduces processing from about 30 – 45 minutes to just seven seconds, with no typos, Schindler said.
“We’re not just collecting data, we’re facilitating sampling and printing labels via Bluetooth,” he said. “We have separate lab app designed for the lab to receive these sample and data. We have the mobile field app to collect the data and label the bottles and a separate lab app to receive the bottles and data upon arrival at the lab. Our apps combined create a digital chain-of-custody.”
Schindler said the finishing touches on pivoting from an environmental testing kit to a healthcare testing kit should be concluded within a week or so, depending on demand. Then he wants to sell the software services for just $3 per patient or lower to help healthcare and government officials determine exactly how many people in their jurisdictions have contracted COVID-19....

It’s real, all right. (click here) The CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus, may not be “the big one” we’ve been fearing but it’s the biggest one since the Spanish flu. It’s already proving very disruptive and dangerous to vulnerable people. And here in Canada we’re stockpiling toilet paper because when you’re out of food and water you… that is… You do know you can’t eat that stuff, right?
I’m not trying to make light of the situation. At least not that kind of light. There are some bright spots, including positive stories out of hard-hit places like Italy about the ways people are pitching in and helping one another despite the difficulty of doing so while maintaining social distancing. But let me talk for a minute about the upside of buying heaps of toilet paper.
See, the good news is that we haven’t had a pandemic or other major disaster in Canada for so long that we don’t even know how to hoard. Plus being infamously polite we wouldn’t punch one another over cans of soup anyway which, if you want my advice, will prove more useful if things go really bad than excess paper products. (Confession: at my house, for complex logistical reasons, we already had lots. And about a year’s supply of paper towel. Don’t ask. I said it was complex.)
In large parts of the world they know from bitter experience all about grabbing everything that might prove useful if a famine, civil war, or outbreak of disease disrupts normal production and distribution. Regrettably they don’t have much to grab because “normal” production and distribution in those places means there isn’t much to hoard anyway. In a land wracked by famine what’s the use of knowing which food you’d stockpile if you could get any?...

When can hospitals expect the ventilators to roll off the assembly line?

These are the heroes in the USA. This is a heritage GM has from the time of WWII when they produced military vehicles for the war effort.

Tesla Inc. joined General Motors Co. (click here) in offering to manufacture hospital ventilators in auto factories shuttered by the coronavirus outbreak, an effort that would echo Detroit’s contribution to Allied powers during World War II.
Responding to Pakistan’s Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry and a tweet from a Tesla customer, Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk said the company would make ventilators if there is a shortage. GM CEO Mary Barra also floated the idea, top White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow told reporters Wednesday. On Fox News earlier, he described an unidentified auto executive’s offer to call back workers to idled plants to make the medical devices needed to treat critically ill virus patients, and said it was made “on a voluntary basis for civic and patriotic reasons.”
Barra, 58, suggested ways the company could help during the crisis, a person familiar with the matter said. GM could use some of its excess factory space to build ventilators and has people looking into how that would be done, said the person, who asked not to be identified describing a private conversation....

A secret recording (click here for recording) taken of Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr shows him warning a private audience three weeks ago about how the Coronavirus would have dire effects on the U.S.

It is difficult to define Richard Burr. As of late, his conscience is bothering him.

Richard Burr’s discussion (click here) with Ron Johnson and Chuck Grassley highlights the divide among Republicans over the Biden investigation.

...In a Dec. 5 meeting, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) told the leaders of the Senate Homeland Security and Finance committees — Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Chuck Grassley of Iowa, respectively — that their probe targeting Biden could aid Russian efforts to sow chaos and distrust in the U.S. political system, according to two congressional sources familiar with the meeting....

A year ago this was his position as Trump leaned on other officials for information about the Russian probe.

April 18, 2019
By Allan Smith

Richard Burr, (click here) the chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, apparently provided the White House with information on the Russia investigation after a private briefing with then-FBI Director James Comey, according to special counsel Robert Mueller's redacted report.

Within a week of Comey briefing the "Gang of Eight" congressional leaders about the FBI's Russia probe in March 2017, Mueller wrote that then-White House Counsel Donald McGahn's office was in contact with the North Carolina Republican "and appears to have received information about the status of the FBI investigation."

As Mueller notes, it's unclear if Trump was aware of the briefing at the time. But Annie Donaldson, who served as McGahn's chief of staff, wrote then that "POTUS in panic/chaos ... Need binders to put in front of POTUS. (1) All things related to Russia."...

I think he has a backbone though. He went forward with Don, Jr.'s closed-door hearing when it was opposed by Trump, St. An interesting note, COVID-19 didn't stop a birthday party for Don, Jr.'s new girlfriend. It was funded by his father's campaign donors.

Do the Trump's pay for anything themselves?
We are in trouble. Employees are not being sent home to stay home with employers being told to only use 50 percent of their employees. At least one employer as stated on a message board is splitting the work week and all employees are working but only every other day. That is not legal. The conversation did not mention the employer but only the work pattern.

The reason employers are to send 50 percent of employees home on Lay-Offs is to reduce exposure. The division of work hours is going to disrupt unemployment benefits and will not bend the curve down.
