Issac is starting to track a little north.

UNISYS Water Vapor GOES East Satellite (click title to entry for 12 hour loop - thank you)

In the image to the left it would appear Joyce has mostly dissipated while another turbulence in the Gulf near northern Mexico has developed.

Isaac wobbles quite a bit. Joyce was progressing north without any retreat to a lower latitude.

Isaac, however, has considerable travel in latitude. At one point, 2130z, Isaac appeared to be moving north over the Dominican Republic. But, that was a major oscillation before Joyce weakened with a higher central pressure. Isaac's central pressure continued to drop without rising again. The eye of Isaac is still very much in the Caribbean.

Joyce may organize a bit more yet, but, won't make landfall.

The turbulence in the Gulf near Mexico occurred at the same time Joyce diminished.

This is where Isaac started:

1 15.20 -51.20 08/21/09Z 30 1007 TROPICAL DEPRESSION

And this is where Isaac is now:

12 16.70 -68.70 08/24/03Z 40 1001 TROPICAL STORM

So, in 66 hours Isaac has moved 1.2 degrees north and 17.5 degrees west. The central pressure has fallen 6 millibars in that time and the speed has increased by 10 knots per hour.

In all honesty, Isaac is receiving a lot of water vapor from the lower latitudes. That storm isn't necessarily going to move away from its water vapor source that quickly. As its central pressure drops, it will sustain its own velocity. The size of the storm will sustain it as well. But, it has more westerly travel than north. Depends on its sustainability at a lower central pressure than one would expect. That might happen. The waters are certainly hot enough. We'll see.

The way we were. Twenty years ago today Hurricane Andrew hit Florida. (click here)

What is Romney embarrassed about in relation to his church tithing?

Republican presidential candidate, former Massachusetts Governor Willard Mitt Romney walks into a fundraising event on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012 in Minnetonka Beach, Min.

Romney states his tithing should not be public. (click title to entry - thank you)

Huh?

...Members of The Church of Jesus Christ (click title to entry - thank you) of Latter-day Saints are encouraged to donate 10 percent of their gross income to the faith, and Romney’s disclosure early this year shows he did just that and also forked over more through his family charity.
Romney pulled in more than $40 million in 2010 and 2011, his campaign reported, and paid about $4.1 million to the LDS Church. That’s in addition to about $4.8 million his Tyler Charitable Foundation donated to the faith.
Over time, the Romneys, among the wealthiest Mormons, with a net worth of around $250 million, have likely doled out millions to their Salt Lake City-based faith. The LDS Church has been referred to as one of the wealthiest in the world....

Besides the fact of the matter most church members of any faith seek to tithe ten percent to their church, perhaps Mitt is ashamed and guilty about the fact his tax rate is nearly the same and perhaps less than his tithing. That is not necessarily a reality most Americans share with him.

Guilt is a terrible thing.

I don't understand that illogic as a reason to withhold the tax forms to the citizens seeking to understand the guy. If he is so worried about the amount of taxes he paid being compared to the tithing of his church, then redact it. If he is unsure how to redact the information he can get expert advise from Condi Rice when she redacted stuff submitted to the 911 Commission. Cheney may not be up to it.

The amount of tithing is most likely deductible and he most assuredly doesn't take the standard deduction as most Americans do. So, when he was particularly bitter about paying taxes to the government he probably cranked up the amount to the church rather than pay more taxes to the USA. You know the country he claims he loves and desires to be President.

I know a few millionaires. I am not one. Surprise, but, it always surprises me the bitterness they hold to paying taxes. It is amazing. One of my family like race horses. Not dressage, but, race horses. He rather pay more expenses for his race horses than pay the government. It is amazing. He is retired and claims his race horse expenses as his new investment venture.

Right.

But, the fact of the matter is the Nouveau riche always believe they are entitled to keep every dime they earn. They hold no belief in obligation to the government where domestic tranquility is earned by the blood of men far less wealthy than they.

There is a lot of peril for Mr. and Mrs. Romney. They enjoy their money lavishly and they are allowed to do so, but, to most Americans lavish spending is sinful or at least irreverent while they see their city services diminishing, including their children's education. Or worse yet are losing their homes.

There are a lot of reasons for Romney to protect himself from the truth. Many reasons and they are all alienated voters. I find his pandering to the privacy of church donations a bogus excuse. Just another lie.

"Clear Choice" is a wonderful legacy to Former President Clinton's leadership that shines through today. We have it right with President Obama. Thank you.

WASHINGTON, April 2 — In one of its most important environmental decisions in years, (click title to entry - thank you) the Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the Environmental Protection Agency has the authority to regulate heat-trapping gases in automobile emissions. The court further ruled that the agency could not sidestep its authority to regulate the greenhouse gases that contribute to global climate change unless it could provide a scientific basis for its refusal....

Reduce gas consumption by 20% over 10 years (click title to entry - thank you)

Pres. Bush, prodded by a Supreme Court ruling, said his administration will decide how to regulate pollution from new motor vehicles by the time he leaves office.
Bush signed an executive order that will “cut gasoline consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles.”
“When it comes to energy and the environment, the American people expect common sense and they expect action,” the president said. “We’re taking action by taking the first steps toward rules that will make our economy stronger, our environment cleaner and our nation more secure for generations to come.“
What those rules would look like was anything but clear. An official said the president’s position opposing mandatory emissions caps has not changed. Bush has said that anything other than a voluntary approach would unduly harm the nation’s economy.
Bush officials indicated that the new rules could implement the president’s plan for reducing gas consumption by 20 percent over 10 years.

Reduce gasoline usage by 20% in 10 years

It is in our vital interest to diversify America’s energy supply--and the way forward is through technology. Dramatic advances are within reach. Let us build on the work we have done and reduce gasoline usage in the United States by 20% in the next ten years--thereby cutting our total imports by the equivalent of 3/4 of all the oil we now import from the Middle East. To reach this goal, we must increase the supply of alternative fuels, by setting a mandatory fuels standard to require 35 billion gallons of renewable and alternative fuels in 2017--this is nearly five times the current target. At the same time, we need to reform and modernize fuel economy standards for cars the way we did for light trucks--and conserve up to eight and a half billion more gallons of gasoline by 2017.
As we continue to diversify our fuel supply, we must also step up domestic oil production in environmentally sensitive ways. And I ask Congress to double the current capacity of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

The Mississippi River is drying up. The lack of water flowing toward the Mississippi Delta is so low there is now a salt wedge in the delta from the Gulf of Mexico. Usually the Mississippi has more water pressure draining into the Gulf than the back pressure from the larger water body. That is a lot of water. It isn't there anymore. There are now parishes along the delta finding salt water in their municipal supplies. Money, money, money that is all Romney and his crony advisers think about.

Water gets churned up at the end of a dredging pipeline connected to a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dredge on the Mississippi River near Memphis, Tenn., on Monday. The river has seen water levels from Illinois to Louisiana plummet because of drought conditions in the past three months. When there's less flow coming downstream, saltwater from the Gulf wedges its way in.

The USA is facing climate emergencies from fires, to water, to crops and these Bozos want to emit more carbon dioxide. That is amazing and Romney claims two degrees from Harvard. Romney thinks governing is a money binge.

All the dry weather means there's less water flowing through (click here) the once mighty river into the Gulf of Mexico, and low outflow means saltwater from the Gulf is creeping in.
Some Louisiana cities have already begun purchasing drinking water. Now New Orleans is at risk.
Saltwater typically encroaches on the Mississippi every eight to 10 years, but that could be changing, says Mark Davis, director of the Tulane Institute on Water Resources, Law and Policy. "With rising seas, and if we talk about deepening the channels of the rivers to accommodate bigger ships, this kind of thing is something you may face more frequently, and if you get it wrong, it can affect the vitality of industries and the health of populations," Davis says...
The last salt water impingement on the Mississippi was in 2005 when Katrina hit.

That bump in the night was probably not a ghost.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - A spark (click title to entry - thank you) from a natural gas drilling operation in north-central West Virginia ignited methane gas several hundred feet underground early Friday, sending up a fireball and triggering a blaze that officials said burned for about an hour on the floor of the rig.
Three workers were injured, two seriously enough to be airlifted to a hospital after the fire at the Antero Resources site near Sycamore in Harrison County. The fire was quickly extinguished and the well pad was in a rural area, so it posed no danger to the public.
Al Schopp, a vice president at Colorado-based Antero, said two men were flown to a burn unit in Pittsburgh, but he did not have immediate word on their conditions. The third victim was treated at a Clarksburg hospital and released....

SYCAMORE, W.Va. (AP) — Two workers burned in a Harrison County (click here) drilling rig fire last week are out of the hospital, and state environmental regulators have ordered Antero Resources to gain full control over their operation near Sycamore.
David Belcher, assistant chief of the Department of Environmental Protection's Office of Oil and Gas, tells WBOY-TV he can't comment further on the conditions of the injured men or identify them.
Those two workers and a third man were hurt Friday when a spark ignited methane gas several hundred feet underground, triggering an hour-long fire on the floor of the natural gas drilling rig at Antero's Cottrill No. 3 well....

...The State Department of Environmental Protection issued an order August 20 instructing Antero to cease ―any and all operations not necessary as part of the efforts to regain control‖ of the well. It also instructs Colorado-based Antero to work with property owners to sample water wells used for people, domestic animals, or any other use if they are within 2,000 feet of the well. The testing should, at a minimum, focus on pre-drilled water analyses and levels of dissolved methane....

Pennsylvania environmental officials (click here) have given permission to a company to resume a gas drilling procedure that blasts chemical-laden water into the ground in a village where residents say their well water was polluted.
The Department of Environmental Protection said Tuesday that Houston-based Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. has met its obligations under a 2010 consent agreement and will be permitted to frack seven previously drilled wells in Dimock Township.
Dimock residents say Cabot polluted their water supply with methane gas and toxic chemicals. State regulators had previously blamed Cabot for elevated levels of methane in the aquifer and banned it from drilling and fracking in a 9-square-mile area.
The DEP hasn't cleared Cabot to resume drilling any new wells in the area but says it may begin producing gas from the seven existing wells.

Stray range bullet caused well site leak (click here)

Drilling site reports chemical release

DIMOCK TWP. A stray bullet from a target shooter caused a chemical release at a Susquehanna County natural gas well site that was initially believed to be an act of vandalism, according to Pennsylvania officials.

A bullet and casings were found about 11:30 a.m. Monday near a broken glass tube connected to a 500-gallon tank of glycol on Cabot Oil & Gas’ Grosvenor well site, according to Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection spokeswoman Colleen Connolly. A release of about 100 gallons was contained to the site....

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firms named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately until a repair is completed on affected dryers. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product....

...Manufacturer: LG Electronics, Inc., of South Korea
Hazard: The gas valve in the recalled dryers can fail to shut off properly, continuing to heat the dryer and its contents after the drying cycle is complete. High temperatures inside and on the exterior surface of the dryers can scorch the drum, as well as burn or damage the dryer contents, posing a risk of burn, fire and smoke inhalation.
Incidents/Injuries: LG Electronics and Sears have received 141 consumer complaints about dryers continuing to heat after the drying cycle is complete. There were three reports of minor burns to hands or arms. Burnt or scorched clothing was reported in more than 50 incidents....

Ready for this? Congressman Todd Akin is on the House Science Committee.

Is that like a joke or what? Who makes these decisions in regard to committee assignments? Speaker Boner? It goes to prove the GOP is not only regressive and dysfunctional, but, seeks to impose those values on the nation.

...His House website (click title to entry - thank you)  indicates that he earned a BS in management engineering from Worcester Polytechnical Institute. Interestingly, this official biography fails to note that he also earned a Master of Divinity at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. However, his new campaign website for his Senate run proudly notes this degree.
Regardless of his comments on pregnancy and lack of health sciences education, Akin currently serves on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology....

Promises, promises, promises.

...Vicky Hartzler, (click here) who will be replacing Ike Skelton, announced she has been assigned to the House Armed Services Committee, a promise made to her by Speaker-designate John Boehner earlier this year, as well as the Agriculture committee....

If Akin states rape has to qualify as legitimate, I can only imagine what he qualifies as science. I am quite sure if there is no economic benefit it is not science.

Speculators are undoing the plans Bernanke is hoping might help the USA economy.

Before Bernanke can print the money, the speculators are removing the benefits to the USA economy. Why bother? Why should the Fed seek to infuse incentive to the USA economy if it disappears before it ever starts? The price of oil was actually coming down before this.

The USA needs to move away from the petroleum industry. The fossil fuel industry is damaging every aspect of the USA and global economy. It is causing the increased costs in food and transportation. Get rid of this mess and seek alternatives.

The NHC current forecast track gives reason to believe the probability will go up in Tampa....

To me it looks more like Issac into Louisiana - Alabama and Joyce into Northern Florida - Georgia if at all.

There is also a turbulence east of North Carolina. The three storms are oscillating between each other and gaining strength. The chance of an more northern Atlantic storm gaining enough dynamic to thwart Issac is remote. However, Joyce appears to be organizing and will carry some of the heat that would be Isaac's otherwise.

The latitude for Issac has oscillated between 15.20 to 15.90 and back to 15.30 (click here). I would expect meandering in its oscillation with the other systems, but, returning to its more concentrated path along the direct solar rays. That was a lot of oscillation. The movement indicated an oscillation toward the more northern turbulence in the Atlantic until the return of sunlight restored its 'fuel path.' It is the way I see it so far.

The longitude of Issac shows a storm moving at a good pace which increased in speed from 30 to 40 knots in 48 hours.
