No political traction for Neocons with the NATO support for Libyan citizens.

"No Joy" on Libya.  It is NOT going to become another Iraq.  Absolutely not.

...Generals Yunis and Heftar (click title to entry - thank you) are said to be back in Benghazi in charge of the grand strategy for the military campaign. Criticism was also levelled at others at this week's London conference on Libya. "I saw the people who had gone to England on television, in their nice suits, talking about how they were leading the war so successfully," said Ali Slimani with a dismissive wave of his hands. "They were never here. The foreign governments should come and see for themselves what is going on."...

Rebels flee as Gaddafi's forces advance on Ras Lanuf yesterday

The USA will never fight another war in the Middle East again.  When Iraq was invaded we were handed a bunch of nonsense by "Curveball" now the foreign minister wants to go belly up to hand over Gadaffi to the world courts.  Fine.  But, we are not committing soldiers ever again to a war that turns into target practice on American military.

Arizona Republican John McCain (click here - thank you) says the U.S. should not be handing command-and-control of the Libyan military operation over to NATO.
Senator McCain called it a mistake, saying the U.S. should be doing "what is necessary, not as little as possible" in Libya.
McCain, the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, supported President Obama's decision to commit the military to the UN-authorized no-fly zone over Libya.
Obama said from the outset that NATO would assume control of the operation within a matter of days.
The U.S. will continue to be part of the ongoing military operation with NATO coalition partners.
The international operation was authorized to stop Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi's attacks on rebels....

There will be no occupying force.  If the coalition is successful against the Gadaffi dictatorship in the world court then it will be a matter of removing him to justice, but, Resolution 1973 is about providing protections for citizens being targeted by Gadhaffi's military.  The airstrikes can be effective.  It can manage his aggression, but, the resolution never provided for a military confrontation of any kind.

The Libyan military can be stopped from killing citizens by setting up 'zones' where it is NEVER going to be successful.  That becomes difficult if the citizens' militia continues to move their position throughout the country and confronts the Libyan military.  The citizens 'capitaled' in Benghazi should continue to form their own leadership as they will be successful in being protected, if not in domination of the country.  The Libyan civilans have to provide a clear boundary for NATO enforce rather than simply attempting to expel the dictator.

It is the way a no fly zone is enforced.  With a clear 'line of defense' for the people the bombings can be effective to stop the aggression of the Libyan military under the direction of the Libyan dictatorship.

Libya: dilemma over defector's 'electrifying' Lockerbie information (click here)

...Yesterday the Prime Minister said he would not block any attempts by the police to question Mr Koussa.
Mr Cameron stressed that Mr Koussa had not been offered a deal in return for fleeing to Britain and had not been granted immunity from prosecution. But if the defector is arrested and charged with crimes, it may undermine attempts by Western governments to encourage others in Col Gaddafi's inner circle to flee from Libya, a key aim of current diplomatic efforts.
Mr Koussa may also be reluctant to co-operate fully with British officials if he is not given guarantees about his future....

The experience of the American military in the past decades has been one of encountering those that exploit all the best intentions with exploitation for wealth.  We saw it in Iraq with the former Minister of Oil.  What the heck was his name?  He was in the USA courting USA officials under Bush to enter Iraq, he was found to be corrupt and removed from the Ministry of Oil position that ensured a great deal of wealth.  In Afghanistan, it was Karzai and his brother.  Now, whom is it going to be in Libya?

Chalabi.  That was the snake.

Issam Chalabi, stresses the necessity of building new refineries for oil derivatives

2009-03-24 09:28:26
He and former oil minister Issam Al-Chalabi Ahecip accelerating the building of new refineries and calling companies implementing parts of the oil projects.

He said Chalabi told the independent press (Iba) today, Tuesday, it is necessary to speed up the construction of refineries and other special Msfii Nasiriyah and Karbala, which have been approved since the seventies and the eighties, according to the technical and economic studies with a further study to determine the locations of refineries and the rest of the accessories stores and the liquidation of units and to focus on cracking units....

IRAQ = OIL

LIBYA = OIL

The USA will never fight another oil war.

Ever.  We will never trade war for the sake of war while killing 100s of thousands citizens while sparking the creation of another al Qaeda operation.  If the global community hasn't learned yet, they never will.

"We don't belong in Libya, we never will."

...Also, New-Fields (click here) confirmed that the leading oil service company in Iraq OilSERV has joined IOGS as an Iridium Sponsor.

The 2-day event is open to all interested businesses and organizations from all countries.

Over 300 corporate leaders are expected to attend representing companies and organizations from around the world with the intent of forming partnerships for a wide range of economic opportunities in Iraq. The event's mission is to provide clear strategies and positive solutions to the companies interested to Participate in the oil, gas and petrochemical industry in Iraq....

The global community needs to put their evidence together to indict Gadhaffi on human rights abuses and attempts of genocide.  It would be good to have a clear destination for him.

The Right to Assemble is guaranteed under the First Amendment of the USA Constituion.

Collective Bargaining is a legal form of assembly.  Collective Bargaining is the most effective way to protect public workers' rights and well being.  That is a fact.  They provide valuable service to the public.  They have a right to their pay and benefits.

The State of Wisconsin in acting in contempt of court, when will the Federal Justice Department step in to investigate and make arrests?

...But outside the courtroom, Assistant Attorney General Steven Means said the legislation "absolutely" is still in effect. The statement by Means - the executive assistant to Republican Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen - shocked Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca (D-Kenosha).
"It's just startling that the attorney general believes you should not follow court orders anymore," he said.
In a later statement, Department of Justice spokesman Bill Cosh said: "We don't believe that the court can enjoin non-parties. Whether the Department of Administration or other state officers choose to comply with any direction issued by Judge Sumi is up to them."...

It doesn't matter what the Walker Administration 'believes.'  It matters what they can set before a judge to prove their case.  Until they can prove their case they need to ABIDE  BY  THE  LAW.

This is treasonous.  Contempt of court and the Wisconsin governor blows it off as an inconvenience.  What?

I really believe there has to be federal intervention with this situation.  Evidently nothing the State of Wisconsin orders matters to them.  It reminds me of Governor Wallace when he attempted to obstruct students from entering a university.  The federal marshalls had to intervene.  I sincerely believe something of that nature has to take place here.  Walker and his administration are out of control and pandering as 'power brokers' to their cronies, namely The Koch Brothers whom are also attempting to create a monopoly of utility plants in Wisconsin.

Sounds like a plan. I am wondering of the tarp will have any lead impregnated into it.

A bunch of good looking people.

TEPCO Chairman Tsunehisa Katsumata (r.) speaks during a news conference at the company's head office in Tokyo, March 30. TEPCO owns Japan's earthquake- and tsunami-damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex, where experts Wednesday logged the highest radiation yet in nearby seawater.
Itsuo Inouye / AP

Sounds like a novel form of containment.  The Japanese like robots.

...The US is readying a shipment (click title to entry - thank you) of radiation-hardened robots to help the Japanese fight this problem, said Peter Lyons, acting assistant secretary of the US Department of Energy.
“We’re moving expeditiously to ship not only the robots but also operators who [would] train Japanese operators,” Dr. Lyons told a Senate committee on Tuesday....

...The NRC believes that Fukushima Daiichi reactor units 1, 2, and 3 have experienced partial fuel damage due to overheating. Ominously, units 2 and 3 appear to have “some primary containment damage,” said Mr. Borchardt.

In other words, they have been breached in some way and are leaking radioactivity.

Meanwhile, TEPCO chairman Tsunehisa Katsumata apologized for the trouble and anxiety cause by the Fukushima radiation leaks. He spoke to reporters on Wednesday in place of TEPCO’s president, Masataka Shimizu, who has been hospitalized for stress-related health problems.

I hope Mr. Shimizu will not be still yet another victim of this tragedy.  Sorry to hear he isn't well and wish him a quick recovery.  I realize all this is a serious set of circumstances, but, everyone is pulling with both oars in the water in the same direction.  There has been excellant monitoring and warning.  No one counted on this.  Hind sight is always better foresight.

It is time to seal up those reactors and get it over with. If the prevailing winds were sending the radiation over populated areas, would they wait then?

Smoke rising from reactor no 3 at Fukushima. Photograph: AFP/Getty Images

So there is air, water and soil all contaiminated with unknown sources of contamination while the reactors continue TO DETERIORATE.

It is time to 'terminate' their ability to continue to effect the environment and LIMIT, if possible, this unending spewing of radiative material.

...In another new finding, (click title to entry - thank you) Tokyo Electric Power Company, which runs the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power station, said late Monday that it had detected higher levels of plutonium in soil samples taken from within the compound a week ago, raising fears of yet another dangerous element that may be escaping the crippled reactors....

CURRENTLY, there is no medical reason to restrict shipping channels, but, if this continues that could change and Japan will find its energy needs will be direly effected.

...Record-high readings of contaminated sea water (click here) were found yesterday near the plant, which was damaged by a magnitude-9 earthquake and 23-foot tsunami on March 11, Japan’s Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency said today. The International Maritime Organization, a United Nations agency, said on March 21 there was no medical basis for restricting shipping and the U.S. Navy said March 28 any radiation on vessels can be scrubbed off with soap and water and isn’t harmful to people’s health....

The truth is the truth. The Republicans are so extreme there is no further extreme they can take.

...Speaking (click title to entry - thank you)  to several Democratic colleagues Tuesday, Sen. Charles Schumer, the third-ranking Democrat in the Senate, said they should all use the word "extreme" when describing the budget cuts that Tea Party Republicans were seeking in the ongoing budget negotiations....

The reason Senator Schumer said to his collegues to use the word 'extreme' is because up to now they were being polite and attempting bi-partisanship.  So, instead of being polite and trying to have civility rule the day, the Democrats decided to be HONEST.

...Boehner's [Boner] office dismissed the accusations, saying the House of Representatives has done its part by passing a long-term spending plan that would cut $61 billion. "The Senate has not — and Sen. Schumer's inaccurate rants won't change that," Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said....

Michael Steel is Speaker Boner's spokesman?  Is this the Michael Steel that was kicked out of the Chairmanship of the RNC?

At any rate, the House Budget is completely partisan, it is grossly disgusting in its attack on vital programs to the country, it has no sense of priorities except to pander to cronies.

Why should the Senate pass something that is as hideous and ridiculous at that?  It is insulting to the Senate to even have it come to their chamber.  If the Speaker Boner is stating they will pass 'A Senate Proposed Budget' because they are ill equiped to put together a 'good budget' then Senator Shumer should lead the effort in writing a Budget from the Senate to send to the House.

If Republican Senators can't vote for a 'good budget' then it will be ON RECORD.

End of Discussion.

"Think Progress" did a really good job with this.

For as completely this speech is to mainstream American Values, it is important to understand why Republicans want the nation to believe 'Progressives' are evil.

Listening to the Republicans during primaries since most mainstream Republicans have abandoned 'The Grand OLD Party,' only reveals what is left to the 'base' of the RNC.  They are extremists.  In order for Republcans to APPEAR to be 'real ' they victimize the image of anyone other than themselves.  Therefore because the name "Progressive" sounds exploitive in 'thought' and 'aspiration' the Republicans play on the 'intuition' of the naive electorate to paint that picture to benefit themselves.

The only thing extremism about Progressives is they 'sound' normal compared to this mess.

This is the Republican Party.  They are right wing extremists that have no respect for decency, diversity or 'common' goals of a society.  They pander to the people that 'pay' to have them elected.

...This week, (click title to entry - thank you) the nullification camp, led by right-wing historian Thomas Woods, got a boost from a sitting congressman: Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX)....

Compared to this Progressives are extremists, but, most of the time they are simply called NORMAL.

...Despite Paul’s insistence that nullification is proper and constitutional, Article 6 of the Constitution clearly states that Acts of Congress “shall be the supreme law of the land…anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.” That’s why one of our founding fathers, James Madison, argued that nullification would “speedily put an end to the Union itself” by allowing federal laws to be freely ignored by states....

To some extent I simply laugh at these 'episodes' of 'retreat' from reality that occurs during Republican primaries, but, "Think Progress" is absolutely correct.  The 'character' of the RNC has taken a back seat to dignity.  The internet has invaded their office in DC and otherwise and if they don't toe the repressive line they will be invalidated by the GOP.  Their electorate has found a way to override 'normalcy' by inflicting pain into their daily lives with threats of being replaced if they don't do exactly as they are told.

There are good hard working folks all over the country.  In the Red States they have mostly been 'normally' conservative, but, in the last decade 'normalcy' has left the party and is replaced with REGRESSIVE values.  Before the internet actually allowed control over Republican legislators, they were failing moderate for the most part.  They were 'bi-partisan' even.

This EXTREMISM Paul speaks of will become a form of legislation if it is allowed to be 'a value' of the GOP.  The dysfunctional legislation coming out of the House is an example of how incredibly inept things have become.  To say this is scary is an understatement.  I don't know when 'reasonable' people, mostly men' of the GOP will finally take back their dignity and actually represent American values again, but, it may be never.

"Think Progress" is absolutely right on target to note these 'episodes' and expose the underbelly of the nation's current sad reality with the GOP surviving as a political party due to the need for CEOs who still seek their highest bonuses, if only they could.

I really think the Five Male Conservative Leaning Judges on the Supreme Court have become 'Good 'ole Boys' under Robert's mentoring.

Gives "Lady Justice" a entire new meaning.

...The U.S. Supreme Court (click title to entry - thank you) on Tuesday overturned a $14 million verdict won by a man who was sent to death row for a 1984 murder and carjacking he didn't commit, the Associated Press reported.

John Thompson was freed after 18 years in prison, 14 of which he spent in anticipation of the death penalty, after his lawyers uncovered that prosecutors in New Orleans concealed evidence that would have proved his innocence. A prosecutor is required by law to share any evidence, with the defense team, that could prove a defendant's innocence.

Thompson later sued New Orleans District Attorney Harry Connick Sr. for the poor training of the attorneys that Thompson's lawyers say were responsible for the violations, and he was awarded $14 million by a jury....

Maybe they feel a need to 'ban together' in Plutocratic macho banter because there are three women of which two are minorities that now share 'the chambers' with them.

This is outrageous.  Absolutely outrageous.

... The 32-page dissent, (click here) authored by Ginsburg and joined by Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, states that Thompson deserved the $14 million "for the gross, deliberately indifferent, and long-continuing violation of his fair trial right."
"From the top down, the evidence showed, members of the district attorney's office, including the district attorney himself, misperceived Brady's compass and therefore inadequately attended to their disclosure obligations," wrote Ginsburg. "Throughout the pretrial and trial proceedings against Thompson, the team of four engaged in prosecuting him for armed robbery and murder hid from the defense and the court exculpatory information Thompson requested and had a constitutional right to receive. The prosecutors did so despite multiple opportunities, spanning nearly two decades, to set the record straight. Based on the prosecutors' conduct relating to Thompson's trials, a fact trier could reasonably conclude that inattention to Brady was standard operating procedure at the district attorney's office."...

Scalia and Kennedy are PATHETIC.

..."Help me, (click title to entry - thank you) if you can, with this. Let’s - let’s suppose that experts’ testimony, sociologists and so forth, establish that in industry generally and in retail industry generally, women still are discriminated against by a mathematical factor of X. You have a company that has a very specific policy against discrimination, and you look at their — the way their employees are treatment — are treated, and you find a disparity by that same mathematical factor X, does that give you a cause of action?"...

Let's see if I get this right.  An entire industry discriminates against women so Walmart is not culpable.  Is that what the Justices Scalia and Kennedy are saying?  That is pathetic and is definately pandering to the Plutocracy.

The other questions were "What policy in particular exists that was violeated?"

Hah, what?

I do believe there DOES  NOT  HAVE  TO  BE any policies in particular IN PLACE when violations of civil rights happens.  Perhaps the Justices have forgotten that there are FEDERAL anti-discrimination laws the industry is suppose to adhere to.  If they don't want to write a policy OR if they have written a policy but their 'management' does not adhere to it, or the policy is vague or weak or 'can' misdirect decision makers THAT  COUNTS

The question in discimination cases is simple.  Real simple.  Did it happen?  Women involved in the employment at Wal-mart state it happened and they state it happened in more than one instance.  I have a real difficult time believing AN  ENTIRE  CASE  OF  WOMEN were confused about that.

After the fact, DOESN'T COUNT !

PR campaigns to BRING an entire global community to believe they DON'T discriminate with women all over computer and television screens, including those of minorities that are grateful for their jobs for the home they purchased.

The question is not that she worked hard enough and long enough to purchase a home, it is wether she worked TOO  LONG and  TOO HARD to purchase her home.

As to whether the women want salaries they were entited or policy changes or both, you mean to tell me the Justices can't hand down a decision based on the facts and award monies and demands on the company to correct wayward policies BASED  ON  FEDERAL STATUES ?

I heard that Justice is Blind, but, no one told me it was STUPID.

Not every aspect of the words a judge speaks or the decisons a judge makes HAS  TO  BE  WRITTEN into the proceedings of a case by the defendant or prosecution.

Like, what hell is going on in ? The Roberts Court ?

Secretary Clinton gave a wonderful speech regarding the status of what is transpiring with Libya.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jabr al-Thani and French President Sarkovy at a different time.  The meeting today was in London.

Prime Minister al-Thani spoke in Arabic to the cameras.  I thought that was very important.  There are Arab nations commited to the best outcome in Libya and it is only right they hear his perspective in their native language.  Why allow an interpreter to bumgle important words or be seen as insulting his own people.  Tensions are high enough in the Middle East, why leave the door open for exploitation?

...But Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jabr al-Thani (click title to entry - thank you) seemed to leave the door open to arms sales when he suggested that the issue might be revisited if the aerial campaign fell short of its stated goal of protecting Libyan civilians....

I also believe it is up to the nations of the Middle East to decide in regard to arm sales.  It is the stability and peace of the Middle East we are most worried about, there should be more interest by Qatar and the United Arab Emerites as to the amount of arms flowing into the region.  I appreciated he was cautious about the possibility of arms to the Libyan opposition.

I thought Prime Minister David Cameron was rather poignant in his knowledge of the status of the aggression against the people of Libya, in particular the city of Misratah.  He was appauled in his dialogue at the blatant open aggression against the civilians of that city which was taking attacks from the sea as well as tanks and assassins.

The Prime Ministers and Secretary Clinton left no questionable doubt both in their speechs and the answers to questions put them that they knew exactly what was transpiring and the coalition was in control of the outcomes against the aggressions of Gadhaffi and his maniacal military.  Quite remarkable outcomes at that.

Without any occupying force Libyan transition is becoming a reality.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton meets with Libyan Transitional National Council Member Mahmoud Jibril at the Foreign and Commonwealth office in London, March 29, 2011

...On Monday, (click title to entry - thank you) British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy called for Gadhafi to step down and urged his followers to abandon him before it is, in their words, "too late." In a joint statement, the two leaders urged all Libyans who believe that Gadhafi is leading Libya into a disaster to organize a transition process.

Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini has proposed a deal that would include a cease-fire, exile for Mr. Gadhafi and a framework for talks between rebels and tribal leaders....

Libya is not our war...

...it is a humantarian mission to stop a dictator determined to destroy his own people.  The only defeat that can occur with this engagement by NATO; I remind France was the first strike force over Libya; is if more Libyans die at the hand of Gaddafi.  That is the only failure and defeat that can occur.

His air defenses have been destroyed with incredible precision and expediency.  His planes are grounded or shot down.  His tanks are attacked and grossly diminished in number and effectiveness.  It is a huge victory for NATO.  The USA has every reason to consider the beginning of the mission secured and sovereign.

Libya is not longer a sovereign state with a single leadership.  It is now a possession of the United Nations Security Council.

Resolution 1973 is a success, has saved lives, is allowing the Libyan people freedom for the first time in their history allowing them the right to organize a democracy and build a new government.

There is no failure, there is no defeat, and there is no ability for Libya to be a threat to the region.  Libya was not only contained in its ability to kill its own citizens, it is contained to increase instability in the region.

United Nations Resolution 1973

The USA has a great President and we are a great nation.

I was suprised how much of what President Obama said could already be considered common knowledge.  We were well informed.  There were few surprises.

I was surprised to here Secretary Clinton would be meeting with the Libyan Opposition Leadership and allies in London tomorrow.

We have people that are coming forward as the leadership of the New Libya.  They are leaders of the opposition forces.  That is amazing.  To realize in such a short period of time we not only saved lives but provided for the confidence of Libyans to lead a new nation.

It is only morally correct for our allies to come forward to lead the coalition in Libya.  The USA has engagements elsewhere.  It is very heartening to have allies that come forward to lead as well.  The American people becomes disheartened when they feel burdened with every military encounter before the Free World.  I really appreciate the allies we have and applaud their bravery and commitment.

President Obama is a remarkable President and I am proud of him.  He has raised the honor of the USA again.  Allies are coming to our side.  He exhibits the insight in regard to the challenges before us when reflecting on the freedom movement in the Middle East.  I am confident he understands the brevity and the scope to all that is occurring.

It was a great speech.

I wish the Libyan people peace and hope.  Secretary Clinton should have a lot to say after her meeting with the New Libyan leadership.  It is an amazing time we are living through.

Sunday, March 27, 2011

I was going to put together a composite about what is occurring in the MIddle East.

The USA has done correct and best thing in Libya.  I know that beyond a shadow of a doubt.  I have no doubt the Congress wants to have their say and be briefed, but, I am confident the President will find a 'welcome' and 'congratulations' once he speaks tomorrow evening.

I do not believe arming the Liyan resistence is the best thing to do.  As a matter of fact I believe it is the worst thing that can happen to the Libyan people.

When we enforced a No Fly Zone over Iraq, it worked extremely well.  The Shi'ites in the South and the Kurds in the North flourished.  They are a strong people today.  They had their allies and support from within their own ethnicities and had no problem developing economies and strong communities.

I realize the Balkans were different.  They needed to be armed, but, that was because the had no allies.  It is grossly different in Libya where ethnicites are strongly afflilitated and support efforts such as the opposition.

The Middle East needs peace.  These are peaceful movements and while Libya turned violent it was not because of the people, but, because of a billigerent dictator.  The entire Middle East is fluid in its dynamics and the last thing it needs is more armaments to be distributed throughout the region.  The Libyan opposition forces are doing well under the enforcement of THE  NO  ASSAULT  ZONES, implimented by NATO, the USA and the Arab coalitions.

The Libyan people are not alone.  There is no reason believe regular regional assessments aren't on going.

I find it interesting how Admiral Mullens has become somewhat of a silent partner since the President has come home.  A good friend that knows how to fill the void.  Thank you, sir.

I believe we are witnessing a wonderful change in the Middle East.  A sincere peace movement.  I don't see why any peace movement reaching for democracy needs to be armed to succeed.

I am preparing to travel this week.

So, until tomorrow and the President's speech.

Former Vice Presidential Candidate remembered as a 'great role model' by a Texas US Senator, Kay Bailey Hutchinson.

I simply can't believe she has died from leukemia at the age of 55.  We wanted to have her longer.  She was a trailblazer, not unlike women that had come before her, she was an inspriration to women of every walk of life.  She was 'the promise' of the acheivements of women,  There is one aspect of political life, regardless, of the party of which women understand and that is the 'void' of influence women have in most venues where they find themselves.  I am not surprised Geraldine is admired by all women and am grateful for that quality.

..."Geraldine Ferraro was one of the great female role models of her generation," Hutchison said in a statement. "In politics, she was a trailblazer who helped make new heights of leadership possible for women. In her personal life, she courageously battled cancer with tenacity and grace. She reached out to others who were waging their own fights against cancer and helped educate them on treatment options and always offered encouragement."...

So, Geraldine if you are listening, I am sure you know there is no woman President yet.  Hillary has abandoned all our hopes and well Mrs. Palin just doesn't cut the mustard.  So, Geraldine, if God had a great purpose for your passing and influence from above is the answer, we will all be grateful.

Elizabeth Taylor, incredible woman, but, she must have had a heck of a mother.

...Through the “Golden Age of Radio” years (click title to entry - thank you) Lux hopped around from NBC’s Blue Network to CBS and back to NBC from the 1930s through the 1950s. The 15 year old Taylor worked with George Murphy and Mary Astor in a Lux production of “Cynthia” in June of 1947. And she performed with Lon McAllison and Walter Brennan in the Screen Guild’s 1946 rendition of “Her First Beau.”

By then Taylor was already in the movies, appearing with her lifelong friend Roddy McDowall in Lassie Come Home (1943) and The White Cliffs of Dover (1944). But it wasn’t until her performance in National Velvet that her screen career really took off. Still, the young Elizabeth Taylor had time for great radio work....

All to often we have heard the failures of child stars.  Elizabeth Taylor not only was successful, she was a woman of her own making and the first in many venues of life.  She attracted incredible people around her while never wavering in her friendship and loyalty.

She was one of a kind, but, her upbringing must have been interesting and her parents devoted to decency and clear thinking.

Elizabeth Taylor at the age of ten years old.  The look of innocence never left her even in some of her most adult roles.

Bye, Liz.

Waht concerns me is the 'double standard' in regard to a leaked letter from one soveeign nation to another.

This is not a minor leak.  The AFT agents involved in the investigation have been OUTED.  Their lives can be in danger, knowing the vicious nature of the drug cartels in Mexico.  Their investigation certainly has ended whether completed or not and any further information from this opertion is now lost.

This is Bradley Manning whom we already know is required to stand naked while his cell is examined for the safety of his guards as well as himself.  We also know a State Department official was dismissed because of comments made in a meeting.

I find the 'double standard' more than interesting considering Rove / Cheney got away with outing a CIA agent.  What happens next in the USA intelligence network for sensationism by the RNC and their cronies?

Then there is the issue of USA Troops deloyed in regard to border security.

U.S. Military Doing 'Limited' Drug War Work In Mexico, Napolitano Says  (click here)

...During a conversation about the visit to Mexico yesterday by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Napolitano and other top U.S. officials, Robert asked "is there any role, any potential role, for the U.S. military south of the border in Mexico?'
Napolitano said that since Gates and Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen were among those in the delegation that went to Mexico yesterday, "you can deduce from that that there are discussions about the proper role for our military."
As Robert pointed out, having U.S. military personnel in Mexico is a "neuralgic subject" for many people there....

The NRA is trying to improve its shoddy image while implicating a government sting operation.

To begin an intelligent discussion regarding a program by the ATF used to investigate gun running into Mexico after the NRA and Murdoch has gotten a hold of it is like closing the door after the horse got out.  But, a good place to start is that ATF is responsible for such activities anywhere in the country.  Guns originating in the USA with WIDE OPEN GUN laws as advocated by the NTA including assault weapons is a known commodity with the drug cartels in Mexico.

NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox Calls for Expedited Hearings into BATFE Investigative Tactics (click title to entry - thank you)
Wednesday, March 09, 2011
On March 9, NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox sent letters to key leaders in Congress calling for hearings to examine the firearms trafficking investigations tactics employed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Those tactics have allegedly allowed firearms to fall into the hands of Mexican criminal organizations, with the knowledge of the BATFE....

To realize the 'verbiage' by the NRA and its pundits surrounding this topic is about the LACK of gun control is a huge joke.  So one has to immediately wonder the validity at all in their complaints.  However, this NRA awareness started with a complaint from Mexico.

If the Plutocary wasn't seeking footing on a slippery slope regarding the 2012 elections this wouldn't even be on the NRA's radar.

Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is asking the U.S. government for details about ATF’s “Fast and Furious” operations.
As our CBS News Investigation has revealed, “Fast and Furious” was a secret program under which, sources say, ATF purposely allowed thousands of assault rifles and other weapons from the U.S. into the hands of drug cartels in Mexico. Insiders call it letting the guns “walk.”
The idea was to supposedly see where the guns ended up and use the information to take down a major cartel….

The picture above is an NRA agent.  If the agency was attempting to carry out investigations they would not send any guns anywhere that could be used against them and kill their agents.  Additioanlly, we have seen investigations like this before in other agencies of the government, namely the FBI seeking Passports from the federal Treasury Department to realize national security was not a high priority under the Bush White House.

This practice is not unusual, the question outstanding remains, especially to Mexico, was the ATF successful in obtaining information that was benevolent.  I am curious who leaked a letter from Mexico to the USA to the press.

Arizona News from The Arizona Republic

The Arizona Republic?  Really?  I guess that is like the 'Savage Nation' mess that goes on.

by Dennis Wagner on Mar. 05, 2011, under Arizona Republic News

Newly released U.S. records and assertions by a government whistle-blower support allegations that government agents allowed hundreds of firearms to be smuggled across the Arizona border and into the hands of Mexican drug cartels.
The records, released by a member of Congress, have prompted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to call for an independent review of a campaign designed to dismantle Mexican crime syndicates that purportedly wound up arming them instead.
The Arizona Republic reported last month that investigators have confirmed that two weapons connected to the ATF operations were found at the scene of a December gunbattle near Rio Rico, Ariz., where Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed by suspected border bandits….

Where is PETA when you need them?

Kindly note the number of donors that need to be boycotted.  (Pages 8 through 13 of the PDF)

If they aren't stopped at 'this level' they go further and further into assaulting the DECENCY of a civilized people, regardless the country.

The ONLY hunting that should be conducted globally is that of a camera.  The Tiger is now an endangered species.  When does it stop.  ANY marketing of artifacts should be banned by international agreement and those engaging it all trade, regardless of the 'age' of the artifact needs to be imprisoned.  It is only when the sale of ANY artifact of any threatened and endangered species is stopped will poaching stop.

If one is worried about the global gun trade it needs to stop beginning with hunters having legitimacy to anything other than a camera lens.

I didn't note any tranquilizer guns being auctioned off as a support to tourism globally.

For those that would say this goes to far, I state it doesn't go far enough.

Now that CSI is well accepted in 'the American psychi,' the next venue for the NRA is acceptance of cannibalism.

What would be better, but, a nation without laws that lives 'by the gun.'  What the NRA doesn't stop to realize is there would not be guns ruling the streets if such a paradyme were to exist in the USA.  The country would divide into state against state and the armaments would be very different than 'street weapons.'

Quite frankly, if this degree of depersonaization were to dominate the USA, North Carolina has every measurable form of military already within its borders.

The states would fall back on National Guard to correct its path.  The National Guard would then become 'a nation state' militia.  Arizona with its new law to instill its own equivalent of National Guard at the State level is well ahead of the curve.

It is about power and not the people.

The Wisconsin people ARE a wedge issue for the 2012 elections.

...But now, (click title to entry - thank you) state Republicans have had the bill published through a different office -- the Legislative Reference Bureau, which handles drafting and research for the legislature -- according to the LRB's statutory requirement to publish legislation within ten days of enactment. Interestingly, the LRB itself says that this publication does not constitute action that would put the law into effect. But the state's Republican leaders disagree. Senate Majority Scott Fitzgerald (R) says the LRB publication constitutes official publication and the insists the law will take effect Saturday.

Now, the Wisconsin Republicans are continuing their Anti-American, Anti-Wisconsin, Anti-Middle Class 'tactics' by circumventing THE  RULE  OF  LAW, yet again.

What Wisconsin Republican legislators are attempting to do is 'push the envelope.'  While publication in the "Legislative Reference Bureau" is not a 'legal means' to publish a new law, it is a 'method' to alert the public.  The LRB is a place where citizens and citizen groups can seek insight to what the Wisconsin legislature is 'taking up' in or out of session, in or out of committee.  In that lies the understanding the public can approve or disapprove of the measure and take action in that direction with their legislature. when the bill is to become law.

The LRB is 'an exposure' to law by the public, HOWEVER, it is NOT a place where any citizen, such as lawyers would look for ENACTED LEGISLATION.

In the federal system, "The Federal Register" is the place where laws are published so citizens are in complicance with the law.  It is formal notice.  All those citizens turn to, such as attornies and their associations, would seek there to know what is law and what is not law.

Wisconsin Republican legislators are 'arming themselves' to enact an unconstitutionally prepared law.  Any bill can become law so long as 'procedure' is ignored.  Any bill or ranting, such as the US House Budget of 2011, can become law even though it is highly unconstitutional and victimizing if 'procedure' is ignored.

The LRB of Wisconsin serves a vital purpose to informing the citizen and citizen groups about legislation being presented to the legislative body.  BUT.  Those that read teh LRB aren't interested in bills that have become law, they are interested in impacting bills being considered for passage as law.

Wisconsin Republicans are hoping to change that, as they did when they ignored the procedure of "The Open Meeting" law, by stating this is PUBLIC NOTICE as much as any other activities of the State when publishing laws.

They would have to get a corrupt judge, such as those in Louisiana that opposed the moritorium, in order to have that happen.  So next time when the electorate is at the ballot box there is a greater question to ask, "Do I want corrupt judges throughout the courts in the USA?"  If the answer is no, and believe me there are plenty that would answer 'yes,' then beyond any other reason, don't vote for the Republicans.  The ONLY way they can demoralize this country is to have corrupt administrations and corrupt courts.

This publication in the LRB won't matter, but, it is just another example of how desperate these people are for the monies that come their way.

Donald Trump Talks About Birthers - The View

The fact Trump is showing his bigoted side isn't the issue.  The question should be "Why would Donald Trump solicit Right Wing extremists on "The View?"  The Republican Trump card prides himself on everything possible.  I have no doubt Trump set his 'PRIMARY' team on discovering identities of every 'faction' of the Republican Party.  Most are extremists of one type or another, so the conclusion is "soft target" Republican women that give birth to 'real Americans.'
Elizabeth Hasselbeck is a good model for Trumps 'girly' image and a favorate among wholesomeness as a Republican woman.  What could be better?
There is a far better way of 'attracting' the extremists of the Republican Party called Birthers, but, that would risk looking weak in that it would resemble the picture Trump and the rest to all waiting for; 'a picture of each candidate holding their birth certificate.'  And leave it at that.  The Democrats are convinced by the birth certificate presented during the Democratic Primaries of long ago.  What the Republican Prmarians are looking for is POWER.  So, whoever can GOAD a sitting United States President into posing with his birth certificate will have proved they are the better candidate with the most smarts.

The circus called the Republican Primary has begun, I doubt seriously anyone, especially Presidental advisors and Cabinet members need to take the 'ring masters' seriously.  The country has business to do and the side shows are nothing more than trival pursuit.

It is time the nations of the Middle East come together for regional security and this is a good first step.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaks at the State Department in Washington on Wednesday.

The sincere problem that has existed for decades in the Middle East is the void of an Arab authority maintaining vigilance over the region.  It has always been handed off to The West with very poor result.  The Arab nations frequently witness citizens opposed to Western forces in their country, including cultural reasons.  This coalition currently includes several jets from two Arab nations.  Those nations still need the support of The West in building strength and competency that will evenutally bring these nations to lead.

I sincerely believe this coalition is the first step in achieving a higher order of authority for the Middle East.  Now, not only Israel will be viewed with competency in securing its borders, but, other nations can speak to defense competency that will provide safety and security for their citizens.  It is they that will lead to bring a new government to Libya.

In other words, "As the USA steps down, hopefully in time, the Arab nations will step up."

...Clinton, responding to the NATO decision in Brussels, (click title to entry -thank you) claimed significant progress in the air campaign led thus far by U.S. forces.

But she sounded a note of caution, saying that while forces loyal to Mr. Gadhafi have been pushed back from the rebel stronghold of Benghazi and elsewhere, they remain a "serious threat" to the safety of the Libyan people.

"In the days ahead, as NATO assumes command and control responsibilities, the welfare of those civilians will be of paramount concern. This operation has already saved many lives but the danger is far from over. As long as the Gadhafi regime threatens its people and defies the United Nations, we must remain vigilant and focused," she said.

Clinton said Arab leadership and participation in the coalition is "crucial", and welcomed the announcement that the United Arab Emirates will deploy 12 aircraft to no-fly-zone enforcement, joining Qatar as the second Arab contributor....

I can hear the Right Wing now, "Next thing you know they'll be bombing here."  The 'Anti-American Hate stationed in the Middle East'  already did that on September 11, 2001.  It is time the Middle East achieved a strong peace where they can solve their own problems.

The Health Care Reform and Affordable Care Act is making huge in roads to improveing the quality of care Americans receive.

The law has forced health insurance companies to focus on their members.  Insurance companies are required to spend 85% of their premiums on health care, which means they cannot simply 'hike' premiums to add to their CEO bonus.

Annual exams won't cost members anything while their screening costs are mostly eliminated.

Additionally, Pharmaceutical Companies no longer are spending huge amounts of money on 'solicitation' of physicians with free trips, dinners and other perks.  Those incentives have to be measured in a different way now and cannot ad to the premiums patients pay for their medications.

No one can be turned away for a pre-existing condition.

Those are all remarkable improvements in the way health care is taking shape in the USA.  They are leaps forward to 'respect' of the patient and not 'esteem' for the CEO and his profit machine.  Americans' health is not to be a 'profit margin.'
I am proud of this law and the protections it provides for all citizens in the USA.

2014 will be a great year.

...it’s because of this law (click title to entry - thank you)  and the resulting GAO follow-up that we received a great piece of advice for people covered by private health insurance.
If you are denied coverage, file an appeal.
The GAO said the data it reviewed indicated that health insurance denials are frequently reversed on appeal. In looking at data from four states, the GAO found that 39 percent to 59 percent of appeals filed with insurers in those states resulted in the insurer reversing its coverage denial. Additionally, data from a national study on appeals conducted by a trade association for insurance companies showed that coverage denials were reversed about 40 percent of the time...

Denial KILLS.

Don't accept adverse decisions.  Appeal through the processes provided to you and complain to state consumer protection agencies if your state still has one.

It works.

...At MomsRising.org, (click title to entry - thank you) we’re starting to hear how the Affordable Care Act has made a real difference for Latino families. That’s why there is no turning back for Latina moms like Tracy Muñoz of Norfolk, Virginia.

"My 21-year-old is taking a year off from school," she wrote MomsRising. "He is having to pay back school loans from the first year. He works a full-time job with a small business. He cannot afford health insurance on his own, and we cannot afford to pay for it for him. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, we were able to add him onto my company’s policy. We were also able to stave off any premium increases, again, thanks to ACA.  Health Care Reform has given us a sense of security that we all needed at a time when I have not had a pay increase in 2 years."

"I am the mother of a beautiful 6-year-old girl named Paloma," wrote Magdalena Clark of Houston, Texas. "Paloma was diagnosed with severe Autism when she was 2-years-old.
"We recently found out that with the new Health Care Reform (Affordable Care Act) we are finally able to provide our daughter with the (therapy) that she desperately needs. We are so happy. It’s been the first great news we have received in these past 4 years."...

A Year Later-Health Reform Law Working

There is monumental rhetoric in the Right Wing Media as they lie their way into the elections of 2012.  It is so terrible that Rove and his plutocrats have crearted their own news event to use as a 'wedge issue' over the Affordable Care Act.  The Republicans are sincerely evil people.  They'll advocate an invasion into Libya, but, they won't provide for qualtiy care for America's children.

There is not sincere brevity to any of the SENSATIONALISM over the law and this testimony by a pediatrician proves it.

As a pediatrician, (click title to entry - thank you) I've seen my work transformed by the Affordable Care Act, which celebrated its first birthday on March 23 ("Health care law alters political landscape," March 24). Before the passage of health reform, many of my diagnoses felt like mixed blessings: On the one hand, I was providing answers, relief, and medical management or cure to a child in need but on the other, I was burdening this child — perhaps even a newborn — with a "pre-existing condition" that would obstruct him or her from receiving needed care in the future.

Before the ACA, insurance companies routinely dropped or refused coverage to people with pre-existing conditions. Thanks to the year-old law, that abusive practice is no longer allowed. When I hear a wheeze through my stethoscope, or detect a mass in the abdomen, or recognize signs of depression in a teen-ager, I know with relief that I do not have to prescribe future desperation as I treat the crisis of the moment.

The evacuation surrounding the Fukushima Nuclear Plant in its early days has proven effective.

...According to a 25 March 2011 Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency press release, (cick title to entry - thank you) the results of the examinations indicated that the dose rate "of all the 66 children including 14 infants from 1 to 6 years old had no big difference from the level of background and was at the level of no problem in light of the view of Nuclear Safety Commission."...

The important aspect to this report, which appears at the IAEA website, is that the initial RESPONSE by the Japanese and its citizens was correct.  They evacuated the area where the danger WAS BEGINNING in time to save lives and with a large margin of safety.  The Japanese government is to be congratulated for its rapid response to a highly dangerous set of circumstances.

From the same website:

Update on Conditions of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant

At Unit 1 ...While the pressure in the reactor vessel remains high, Japanese authorities are reporting that it has stabilized.

At Unit 2 engineers are working for the recovery of lighting in the main control room, and the instrumentation and cooling systems.

At Unit 3, ...three workers were exposed to elevated levels of radiation on 24 March.

At Unit 4, the spent fuel pool was sprayed with around 150 tonnes of water using concrete pump truck.

Units 5 and 6, cooling started again 21 minutes after repairs were made.

At the Common Spent Fuel, ...the water temperature of the pool was around 73 °C.

As of 24 March, 10:30 UTC workers continue to inject seawater into the reactor pressure vessels of Units 1, 2 and 3 and are preparing to inject pure water.

These are the current conditions for the six nuclear facilities in question, they have been compromised in the recent past so while the cuurrent conditions are optimistic, except for Unit 3 and Unit 4, the environment did receive contaimination.

Mar. 25 2011 - 4:43 am

...Two weeks into the crisis (click here) caused by Japan’s run-away nuclear reactors, the government has expanded the zone it considers too dangerous for residents to remain. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said the decision to urge people living between 20-30 kilometers (12-18 miles)  from the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power facility to “voluntarily evacuate” was not because of any increased risk of radiation from the power plant....

I remind, the USA presented a warning to USA citizens in Japan to evacuate the area to 30 miles.  It is proving to be prudent and providing a GOOD safety zone with peace of mind.  Now, the current Japanese assessment and increasing 'safety zone' is based on current conditions and continuous monitoring.  It is not that the Japanese are wrong in regard to their vigilance and safety of its citizens, it's policies are different.  The USA standard is based on the understanding citizens of the USA value their peace of mind.  While the two countries see the safety zone slightly differently it may be based in the way they exert their polices and monitoring.  The USA did not have active monitors in the way Japan does.  Whether one method of determining the safety zone is better than another is a discussion I am sure will happen at the IAEA.

Radioactive elements found in seawater off Japan (click here)

Published On Thu Mar 24 2011

VIENNA—Japanese scientists have found measurable concentrations of radioactive iodine-131 and cesium-137 in seawater samples taken 30 kilometres from land, the UN nuclear watchdog said Thursday.
“The iodine concentrations were at or above Japanese regulatory limits, and the cesium levels were well below those limits,” the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said.
Japanese authorities had given the agency data on samples collected on March 22-23, after detecting iodine and cesium in the water near the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant....

The contamination noted in the seawater off the coast of Japan is NOT due to helicopters ferrying seawater to the nuclear reactors.  Nice try to conceal the truth, but, that isn't the cause.  The cause is the wind and percipitation that existed.

Why is it important to monitor these levels of dangerous substances?  Because, culturally, the Japanese value seafood.  To INSURE all the people are safe from ACCUMULATIONS of these radioactive 'elements' on in areas where they don't belong, the Japanese scientists are taking every measurement possible to determine 'individual' levels and the potential for accumulation over time.

The Japanese government has been magnificent in 'being ahead of the curve' in monitoing ANY effects post earthquake and tsunami of the radioactivity that is a part of the environment.

The estimations regarding the core breach of at least one of the nuclear facilites may result in a sarcophagus.  The first sarcophagus ever noted to the human experience was Chernobyl in 1986.  It has been effective, however, radiation is radiation and it deteriorates structures in ways that other dynamics do not.  Twenty-five years for a concrete structure is about half the life of what one would expect for any such structure if not containing a highly radioactive power plant.  If there is some leakage from the Chernobyl sarcophagus it is more a statement of how effective it has been in the face of incredible odds for it to be otherwise.

The problem with the Japanese facilities is its close location to ocean water and being use the radioactivity is contained from further effecting the fisheries.  It will a little more tricky than Chernobyl.  But, if anything Chernobyl has proven it can be done and gives us a 'baseline' to the longevity of the sarcophagus as a containment structure while best finding still yet another solution to extent the safety surrounding these damaged and dangrous plants.
