There is an opportunity for Pro Gun Control Advocates in all this.

I do have a life and I don't appreciate chasing down stupid conversation that scares my fellow Americans in order to sell more guns that will ultimately be a danger to them and others. I try to live that life whenever I can.

But.

The Pro-Gun Control Advocates need to engage the Red State Voters about gun control in a way that will cause them to respond to tragedies.

It goes something like this:

"On September 18, 2013, a gunman enabled by possessing ammunition and guns entered a what was suppose to be a federal secure facility and killed many people. There are many ways of addressing this problem and taking away the right to own a gun responsibly is not one of them. But, there has to be a moral solution to ending gun violence in the USA and we would like you to join us by writing your State Representative supporting gun control while responsible gun owners enjoy their rights."

It will make an impression if the populous of a state and/or locality is exposed to that message of compassion. It will bring them into the picture rather than sequester them to extremists and they will begin to look for problem solving from their elected representatives at all levels of government.

The reason I bring this up is because there is always the very real designation of "Country vs City." We are all in this together and that is really quite obvious as New York City quite correctly complains about gun migration from other states.

Think about it. Growing consensus is important regardless of the political affiliations. These are issues of life and death.
