Gun Gateway Issues

Any legislation that does not seek to control migration of guns into and out of a region of the country will CREATE gateway problems. If the legislation is not federal, but, based on states or local governments only; there will be problems with 'gun migration.'

The law itself will create a market for illegal gun migration.

Let's say DC wants to demand mental health certificate for gun and ammunition purchase, that will not end the migration of guns and ammunition from Maryland or Wyoming.

However, if there is a "Gateway Policy" that prohibits guns into a high population city or region of the country it does provide the police and/or ATF the power to confiscate the weapons that have come from other regions of the USA and/or outside the USA, like the straw purchasers that brought USA guns from Mexico. The Mexico thing is a joke, but, for commentators bent on providing 'a reason' for ranting and raving, it is an important focus.

Federal legislation is really important, but, the US Congress has become so stupid about everything there is no reliable value to them. I think that is the purpose of the Republicans. They want to justify the deconstruction of the federal government.

Good luck, for what it is worth in a society that seeks to sell weapons when discussing gun control rather than actually control them. Even language is being deconstructed under First Amendment Rights.
