Why can't people simply do the right thing?

Flint - A contractor in Flint(click here)  is under fire for how he disposed of lead pipes and soil in a residential neighborhood, and Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley said it's an environmental injustice.

When contractors do demolition, they have to dispose of the so-coiled spoils properly, and now, Neeley is fighting one contractor and the city council over a new issue.

"To allow this to happen once again in a residential area in a poor section of our community, this is unacceptable by all means," Neeley said....

The first thing that needed to be done was to remove the lead pipes separately from any other debris and consider it toxic waste.

To simply dump old lead pipes into the city's garbage dump was completely irresponsible. Water runoff can carry the lead back into the environment and we'd have to start all over again. I can't believe the people involved in his project in Flint have no conscience.

There is nothing like having children effected by lead looking at a garbage dump full of the lead that originally poisoned them. This is a call for "Environmental Justice."

This is an enormous amount of lead. This is not the usual paint chip issue or lead in toys problem, this is an enormous amount of lead and it needs to be handled correctly. This will endanger the health of thousands of people all over again.

In my opinion, it needs to be put in a sealed burial facility OR have it safely removed by a seriously competent contractor that recycles lead. But, even then it has to be understood that this enormous amount of lead pipe MUST be handled correctly and without ANY opportunity of recontamination anywhere in this country.

For that reason, the disposal of these lead pipes MUST BE TRACKED by competent people that know what needs to be done and oversees the work to be sure it is all carried out competently.

By law in most states, the contractor that disturbed the lead is responsible for it's disposal. But, if that contractor is incompetent then that company must pay for proper disposal and oversight. There needs to be reassurances to the people of Flint and to this country it is being handled properly and will never contaminate another human being again!

The Russian vaccination is not a live virus vaccine. I am relieved to see that.

It appears of the nine none are live vaccine. This is also a huge commercial issue. It is unfortuante that money has taken priority to proper testing. I believe that is the issue that is driving these early approvals. There are billions of orders for these vaccines as soon as they are approved. I can only hope they work against SARS-CoV-2, otherwise, the premature release will prove to be a folly.

“We have no idea whether this vaccine is safe or whether it works”, cautions Ashish Jha, Dean of the Brown University School of Public Health (Providence, RI, USA). “It is really worrying when people start to bypass the standard process we have for vaccine development.”

The review of the Russian vaccine by professionals outside Russia states there is poor performance by the vaccine to date. There are some hopeful results, but, not the kind of response that will bring about peace of mind.

Realize that people are dying of this virus. For the USA poor leadership has confused the issue and super spreader events are becoming daily occurrences. The "tone" of a country like the USA can very well be desperation and not caution. That will cause panic if indeed the vaccine being touted as "ready" for late October is released. Panic is the last thing that should happen because it may very well cause still yet new super spreader events if these vaccines require more than one shot or they are ineffective.

On Aug 11, 2020, (click here) Russia became the first country in the world to approve a vaccine against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The vaccine, which is based on two adenovirus vectors, was developed by the Gamaleya National Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology (Moscow, Russia). Its approval was announced by President Vladimir Putin. “I know [the vaccine] works quite effectively, helps to develop strong immunity, and has gone through all the necessary tests”, declared Putin at a cabinet meeting. Nonetheless, there are widespread concerns that the approval is premature. At the time of approval, the vaccine had not even started phase 3 trials, nor had any results on the earlier stage trials been published....

...According to WHO, as of Aug 28, 2020, nine vaccine candidates were in late-stage trials. These included separate adenovirus vector vaccines, a couple of mRNA vaccines, and several inactivated virus vaccines. There are plenty of vaccine candidates in earlier stages of evaluation. Experts are confident that at least one of the candidates will be successful. COVAX, a joint initiative between Gavi, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and WHO, aims to ensure any eventual vaccine is distributed fairly and equitably. 92 low-income and middle-income countries are eligible for support. The initiative is backing a range of vaccine candidates, including seven in clinical trials....

The adenovirus vector vaccines is more of a general coronavirus vaccine. In other words it is targetting the protrusions of the vaccine and if successful it may even end the common cold. This is the method I had imagined might work, but, the mRNA maybe something of a surprise and highly reliable. I would expect the adenovirus vaccines to work. China has one it is hoping will be an answer for it's people.

We are looking for effectiveness and I know the FDA is stating it is satisfied with 50% effectiveness. Fifity percent is interesting and of course 50% is important, but, to leave it at that is not the answer. Every person vaccinated has to have an immune response. I don't deny 50% their immunity, but, it is not enough. The American people and global community must have a vaccine that works for everyone.

There is a small percentage of people in the USA and globally that do not produce strong immunity because of their health conditions such as receiving chemotherapy. Their immunity will come from the fact others in their lives are immune and it is for that reason all Americans that can produce an immune response must have a vaccine that works.

There are 2 major factors responsible for vaccine failures, (click here) the first is vaccine-related such as failures in vaccine attenuation, vaccination regimes or administration. The other is host-related, of which host genetics, immune status, age, health or nutritional status can be associated with primary or secondary vaccine failures. The first describes the inability to respond to primary vaccination, the latter is characterized by a loss of protection after initial effectiveness. Our studies concentrate on the evaluation of immunological characteristics responsible for primary vaccine failures in different (risk) populations for which the underlying mechanisms are currently unknown. Here we summarise current knowledge and findings from our studies....

Regardless of the success of one of the many vaccines in development, the virus SARS-CoV-2 has to be eliminated from existance. A vaccine begins that process but putting out flare-up of this virus is vitally important to those that cannot obtain immunity.

This virus is too dangerous to allow only those immune from a vaccine to live without fear or worse actual illness that causes problems beyond the infection and possibly death. It is important to have completely safe air quality for all people alive today.

This population of people that do not achieve immunity will have to continue social distancing, masks and hand hygiene without touching their face. The rules will not change for them. That is why we cannot stop at 50 percent immunity effectiveness. We would still be hampered by a substantial number of Americans that cannot return to normal life. That is unacceptable.

Even after the vaccine begins to be administered there needs to be caution among the optimism to continue the social distancing, mask wearing and hand hygiene until people are finally immune. There is also the caution for SUSTAINABLE IMMUNITY. Will this first immune response be a flash in the pan response only to be reinfected after a short time of a few months if lucky. 

It is these reasons why full testing can be certain to the best outcomes for people. By releasing these vaccines early, it might bring in tons of money for one country or another, but, will it be a folly or a cure? It seems the public interest in any country is to SPEND THEIR VACCINE DOLLARS WISELY ON SUPPLIES THAT WORK AND SUSTAIN IMMUNITY.

This rush to judgement about vaccines is a bad idea. The FDA has "fast tracked" medications for disease that is dangerous, but, this is the first time such ideas were instilled in the vaccine process. It is more than worrisome. So much can go wrong and most probably will go wrong. We don't need super spreader events out of false confidence in the face of containment strategies that when applied do work.

Gold Star Families

 My heart breaks with them. This is a horrible reality for them. We make them Gold Star Families because that is what we can do. We cannot replace their sons and daughters and Mommys and Daddys. We can only honor them in the way we can. 

Losing a son or daughter is the worst pain a parent can endure. Losing a mother or father makes childhood incomplete. The loss of a spouse leaves a husband or wife alone feeling life closing in on them. The country tries to make links to them because they have sacrificed for us. Their loss ensures life in the USA continues uninterrupted by enemies and the USA has very real enemies.

I apologize to them for this severely painful time with a president that isn't worthy of the office. These families will remain important and honored by the people of this country. The American people have a conscience even if a person in the White House does not.

What is the value of love of country to lay down one’s life? It is not measurable.

Donald John Trump places soldiers that die and are captured as prisoners of war beneath him because he will never accept responsibility for failure.

To Trump soldiers die because they weren’t good enough a soldier to survive battle. If the soldier died because he/she was an inferior specimen then Trump is not responsible for the death, maiming or injury.

Trump is destroying the morale of the troops who treat each other as a band of brothers/ sisterS. If a commander and chief ever wanted to reduce the effectiveness of the USA fighting force this would be the way to do it.

When is everyone going to call “Trump Speech” what it is, verbal abuse. Verbal abuse is very powerful.

Open letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi

Please defend from any set ups that make you look like a privileged legislator. I believe you that it was a set up. Who hacked into the closed circuit television? It is a police matter now. The film loop didn't get to the internet on it's own. I am curious to know if the salon itself knew the camera was there.

Speaker Pelosi and her hair designers had their privacy invaded.

The DNC should consider hiring hair and make-up professionals for when the legislators are in session in Washington, DC to help provide Democratic legislators with an appearance of good grooming. It makes a difference to the public and voters.

Speaker Pelosi is a vitally important person to this country and should be provided a feeling of well being with a good hair design. That holds true for the Demcratic Senators and House members. So, it is necesssary for a private hair salon service provided to Democratic legislators. The professionals need to test negative for the virus everyday they  are providng that service. The salon has to be cleaned daily and regularly during the day. 

The DNC is best to fund such an enterprise because public appearance is a necessity for candidates. 

Stop being so trusting, Speaker Pelosi. Your innocense speaks eons to your character.

There is no statutory definition of "anarchist city."

The legislature passes law to define such concepts as "anarchist city." There is no such statutory law that exists today defining it. If Barr attempts to define anarchist city along political lines, it is nothing more than corruption of our Rule of Law.

The law recognizes anarchism, but, it is a local issue.

Currently, much of the criminal activities of anarchist extremists fall under local jurisdiction, so they’re investigated by local police. If asked by police, the Bureau can assist. But we have a heavy presence at a major national or international events generating significant media coverage—that’s when the threat from anarchist extremists, as well as others who are up to no good, dramatically increases.

Since the current practice is for local governments to recognize DANGEROUS anarchism extremism the idea Barr can simply drum up a definition and send in the troops is nonsense. There is no recognition by the law of the USA the type of infraction that Trump is trying to invoke.

Currently, the anarchists are Americans carrying guns and demanding "liberty" as a real definition of the law. This is the scary part.

Food for thought

The common cold is a coronavirus. How many times does one person catch the common cold in their lifetimes?

Many times, right?

We know for a fact that people already contracting SARS-CoV-2 can become reinfected. There can be more than one reason for that and science is still investigating that occurrence.

The point is SARS-CoV-2 is a coronavirus and it currently has properties similar to the common cold in that people can be reinfected. 

The most important aspect of any vaccine is it’s effectiveness. The coronavirus will be vanquished. It will have a vaccine that attacks those protrusions to disable its ability to infect. We will be safe again, it is a matter of effectiveness. We need to fight this virus in all fronts and not simply wait for a miracle cure.

Be a thinking person about this and not a sheep following a false path.

Manila - The Philippines begins clinical trials in October (click here) of a Russian-developed COVID-19 vaccine that Moscow says is the first in the world approved to prevent the disease, a government spokesperson said Thursday.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who this week volunteered to test the vaccine on himself, intends to take the inoculation as soon as May of next year, spokesperson Harry Roque told reporters.

The Philippines is eager to secure a supply of vaccine for its population after having overtaken Indonesia to lead Southeast Asia in COVID-19 cases.

Philippine scientists first will review the findings of Phase 1 and 2 trials on the Russian vaccine. The Philippine trials will last until March and be paid for by Russia, Roque said....

This is very sad. Heroes are supposed to live forever. Tears.

Tom Seaver died. He was a sincere hero. He was a nice guy. He was never a disappointment.

Tom Seaver, (click here) one of baseball’s greatest right-handed power pitchers, a Hall of Famer who won 311 games for four major league teams, most notably the Mets, whom he led from last place to a surprise world championship in his first three seasons, died on Monday. He was 75.

The cause was complications of Lewy body dementia and Covid-19, according to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, give or take a few, with a thick waist and tree-trunk legs that helped generate the velocity on his fastball and hard slider and the spin on his curveball, Seaver at work was a picture of kinetic grace. He had a smooth windup, a leg kick with his left knee raised high, and a stride so long after pushing off the mound that his right knee often grazed the dirt....

...However, there are some major problems (click here) with relying on community infection to create herd immunity to the virus that causes COVID-19. First, it isn't yet clear if infection with the COVID-19 virus makes a person immune to future infection.

Research suggests that after infection with some coronaviruses, reinfection with the same virus — though usually mild and only happening in a fraction of people — is possible after a period of months or years. Further research is needed to determine the protective effect of antibodies to the virus in those who have been infected.

Even if infection with the COVID-19 virus creates long-lasting immunity, a large number of people would have to become infected to reach the herd immunity threshold. Experts estimate that in the U.S., 70% of the population — more than 200 million people — would have to recover from COVID-19 to halt the epidemic. If many people become sick with COVID-19 at once, the health care system could quickly become overwhelmed. This amount of infection could also lead to serious complications and millions of deaths, especially among older people and those who have chronic conditions....

The FBI 10 Most Wanted

The list currently has nine listed still wanted. One person has been captured. There is one that was born in 1998. That has to be a record for such a young man.

There is only one among the nine I would consider an anarchist. Rafael Caro-Quintero is the only one assaulting agents and is involved in racketeering. I think he is a very dangerous man.

Wilmington, North Carolina was the city where three Sheriff Department deputies White Supremacists prematurely danced on the future graves of African Americans. I guess it is Trump’s favorite city.

Novichok is a familiar poison used by Russian agents within Europe.

Moscow -  Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny (click here) was poisoned with a nerve agent similar to Novichok, the German government said Wednesday, citing "unequivocal" evidence of the presence of the toxin.

Novichok, a class of chemical weapons developed by the former Soviet Union and Russia, was used to poison former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter in Salisbury, England, in 2018. Western intelligence blamed Russian agents for that poisoning....

Two Russian agents were found on a camera near this area at the time of the poisoning.

...Trump’s grandiosity and impulsivity (click here) have made him a constant subject of speculation among those concerned with his mental health. But after more than a year of talking with doctors and researchers about whether and how the cognitive sciences could offer a lens to explain Trump’s behavior, I’ve come to believe there should be a role for professional evaluation beyond speculating from afar.

I’m not alone. Viewers of Trump’s recent speeches have begun noticing minor abnormalities in his movements. In November, he used his free hand to steady a small Fiji bottle as he brought it to his mouth. Onlookers described the movement as “awkward” and made jokes about hand size. Some called out Trump for doing the exact thing he had mocked Senator Marco Rubio for during the presidential primary—conspicuously drinking water during a speech....

Recent books, "Too Much and Never Enough" by Mary Trump clearly spells out a long time problem with mental health. Michael S. Schmit's "Donald Trump vs. The United States" clearly illustrates problems with the president's mental and physical health.

The so-called mini-strokes" stated by Trump himself, are professionally called TIAs or Transischemic Attacks or Transient Ischemic Attack. They are episodes that ultimately can be controlled by medication such as Plavix (click here). From what I can tell there is definitely a neurological deficit when it comes to his right leg. Whether it is transient is anyone's guess, but, it appears to be so. The pictures and films are convincing enough to state he from time to time has issues that are neurological with his right leg.

There are different neurological issues. His right leg may have an injury and/or a nerve insult of some kind that causes a limp. The other issue is whether or not if the limp is due to a brain insult to a nerve that effects the right leg. I don't think anyone has noticed any deficit to his right arm, but, there is this issue that manifested resulting in slurred speech. He definitely had a "thick tongue," otherwise, difficult to move his tongue to formulate speech. Any speech is a deficit connected to nerves in the head and brain. Given there was slurred speech that is a brain insult.

So, to put this into context, Donald J. Trump by at least one witness in his intimate family has knowledge of mental health problems. The presence of a neurological deficit has been detected by happenstance capture of the USA press what appears to be TIAs probably treated by medication. It appears as though the deficit is in his left brain because the right side of his body is effected.

When he was taken to Walt Reed Medical Center it would have been for a CAT Scan with and/or without contrast, possibly an MRI and/or an MRA to detect any blood flow deficits to the brain through the main arteries in the neck, the Circle of Willis at the base of the brain and quite possibly the coronaries of the heart.

The question of blood clots can be related to dysrhythmias of the heart. Atrial flutter or Atrial fibrillation causes dysfunction of the left ventricle of the heart resulting in a "pooling" of blood within that left ventricle causing small clots to be ejected through the Aorta and large vessels to the brain causing an infarct in the brain. The idea he may have had a brief neurological incident the MRA and even a cardiac catheterization would have been performed to rule out every potential problem.

The medications used in case of a heart incident are blood thinners such as coumadin and the new Apixaban. If the cardiologists had to place a stent in a coronary artery the president would be taking Plavix for a period of time until the heart grew a skin over the metal (stainless steel) stent. Once that skin is in place, there is a far less chance of blood clot from a metal device in the heart artery(ies).

Student returning to home from COVID-19 campuses should be tested and/or quarantined before joinin family life again.

This is typical of short sighted policy makers. What does a school do with a student newly infected with SARS-CoV-2? Sending them home will only serve to spread the virus. Schools that have returned to in-person classes never thought their policy through and now it shows. The in-person classes may very well become the new super spreader.

Boston - Analysis of the genomes (click here) of hundreds of COVID-19 virus samples connects the dots between a strain of the virus that was being transmitted in Europe and a so-called superspreading event in Massachusetts which led to cases throughout the Boston area, in other states and even in other countries.

The authors wrote that their results “highlight the failure of measures to prevent importation” of the virus early during the pandemic – such as with the international travelers who attended the Biogen leadership conference held in Boston in late February....

This is Trump's law and order riddled with corruption.

All those involved in the death of Breonna Taylor, including the prosecutors offering plea deals to CYA those that murdered her need to be immediately removed from their jobs and an FBI investigation pursued.

A man charged with running a drug syndicate (click here) was offered a plea deal in July if he would name Breonna Taylor, the 26-year-old Black woman killed by police in her Louisville, Ky. apartment, as a member of his alleged criminal gang, according to the man's attorney.

Taylor was shot dead March 13 by white Louisville Metro Police officers who had broken into her apartment at night using a "no-knock" warrant. Her death has led to nationwide protests against police brutality.

The purpose of the raid on Taylor's home was to find evidence linking her to an ex-boyfriend, Jamarcus Glover, a convicted felon with a history of drug trafficking, according to court documents.

Police didn't find any.

Now it appears prosecutors attempted to tie Taylor to a life of crime after her death....

Magnificent. I congratulate the international medical society on their dedication and expertise.

Corticosteroids should now be the first-line treatment (click here) for critically ill patients, the authors added. The only other drug shown to be effective in seriously ill patients, and only modestly at that, is remdesivir.

Steroids like dexamethasone, hydrocortisone and methylprednisolone are often used by doctors to tamp down the body’s immune system, alleviating inflammation, swelling and pain. Many Covid-19 patients die not of the virus, but of the body’s overreaction to the infection....

From the beginning the virus triggered an enormous inflammatory response by the body. It was a natural reaction, but, it was abnormally serious and became a concern to the tissue damage by it's own immune system. Today, the international medical society has decided steriods are first line drugs to protect the body's organs, including the brain. This does not cure the virus, but, it prevents the damage the body does to itself in trying to stop the virus. 

SARS-CoV-2 is a very dangerous virus that causes huge responses by the human body of all ages, including the youngest children. We still need to work to end the existance of this particular coronavirus. It is absolutely important this virus is eradicated. There is no way society can see an undisturbed future while this virus continues it's infections.

I thank the entire international medical community for their brilliant strategies to contain the damage to victims of this virus. The greater global society needs to honor their dedication by seeking strategies to end the existance of SARS-CoV-2.

Donald John Trump set the example. We are still experiencing the violence purported by Trump with armed militias.

An outspoken supporter of President Trump from South Florida (click here) was charged on Friday with sending explosive packages to at least a dozen of the president’s critics, apparently bringing to a close an attempted bombing spree that has gripped the country just ahead of the midterm elections.

The suspect, Cesar Altieri Sayoc Jr., 56, was arrested outside an auto parts store near Fort Lauderdale after a fast-moving investigation in which the authorities said they were able to pull a fingerprint from one of the bomb packages and collect Mr. Sayoc’s DNA from two others.

Mr. Sayoc, who seemed to be living out of a van in Aventura, Fla., was taken into custody on a day when four more explosive packages were found, including two intended for United States senators, both Democrats....

Donald John Trump knows exactly what he is doing when he inspires violent supporters. He carried out a reasonably successful television show. He didn't achieve that wihout knowing what he was doing with his audience. Those carrying guns in Kenosha support the hate and violence purported by Donald John Trump. He is not interested in a peaceful USA. He believes death "is what it is." Those are not words or actions by a leader interested in ending violence so much supporting it.

Cesar Altieri Sayoc Jr. (click here) is so at ease with his bigotry and his extreme political views that even those who were put off by him were surprised to learn he could be accused of resorting to violence.

He was a DJ at a strip club in West Palm Beach, an exotic dancer and steroid-using bodybuilder with a long criminal history, a Donald Trump fan who plastered his politics on the van that doubled as his home for at least a year, possibly three or four....

Cesar Altieri Savoc is a prime example of the violence that Trump advocates. He did what he thought was expected of him. After all, Trump will pay his lawyer's bill. The people that paid for the fair treatment of Cesar Savoc were the American people, not Trump.

Cesar Altieri Sayoc, (click here) aka “Cesar Randazzo,” “Cesar Altieri,” and “Cesar Altieri Randazzo,” pled guilty today to a 65-count Superseding Information in Manhattan federal court before U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff.  In connection with the guilty plea, Sayoc admitted to mailing 16 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to 13 victims throughout the country, including 11 current or former U.S. government officials, and that he intended to use the IEDs as weapons and to cause injuries.  Assistant Attorney General John C. Demers for the National Security Division, U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman for the Southern District of New York, Assistant Director Michael McGarrity of the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division, Assistant Director in Charge William F.
