Private planes sure are better than flying coach.

Mrs. Haley states the people that gave her free plane rides were friends. Well, heck, if there were people willing to give me free plane rides they'd be my friend, too.

You have to watch out for those millionaires that want favors when they have private planes and jets. A relative of mine had the problem once in North Carolina. In order to gain the favor in a government matter my relative was offered a free plane ride to any vacation spot in the southeast. Thinking the gentleman was trying to make a pass at her, she stated if anything like that were to happen she would have to bring her husband, thinking that would end the exchange. It didn't. The gentleman said to bring your husband and kids along if she cared to.

See, when the wealthy, especially in the South, want a favor or two or three, and they own a plane or jet, it becomes a bargaining chip. It is an old strategy, but, sometimes it worked. My relative gracefully bowed out and upheld the government's position without compromise. This mess goes on far more often than anyone will admit and Ambassador Haley is no different. I am rather surprised she has so many friends with planes. Seems a little odd. One or two is expected of a former Governor, but, more than that and it seems like a bad habit. Maybe when the Ambassador ends her time at the UN she might decide to take a commercial jet home and sit coach if that is what her budget allows.

I worry about security issues and the conversations in those private plane flights as well. After all they are good friends, right?

A Washington, D.C., (click here) watchdog group wants a federal investigation into U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley’s use of private planes owned by S.C. businessmen.

The group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, says Haley undervalued the flights by tens of thousands of dollars on her annual financial disclosure form required of federal officials.

The complaint was filed before Haley announced she was resigning as ambassador on Tuesday. Haley’s resignation is seemingly unrelated to the ethics complaint.

The ethics group says the flights create the impression of impermissible gifts to a public official. However, Haley said on her disclosure the men are all personal friends and, thus, exempt from federal rules about accepting flights on private planes....
