May 31, 2005. This is a close up of the 'business' of the storm below. If one looks closely at the clouds it literally looks as though the sky opened up and dumped water in bucketfuls on the ground. In my opinion that is exactly what happens with these storms. What is occuring with the rain is a rapid exchange of ions from a highly ionic strom regardless the evidence of lightning. That is why there is that 'hole' appearance. It is a sudden and rapid ion exchange between these low elevation clouds and the ground. It is regularly said in the reporting by us, the average citizens of the country, these storms are short and intense. Not to dismiss their drastic effect on living, not at all, as they are massive and dangerous; but the point is these storms seek resolve and violently due to high ion content.
