May 31, 2005. There were two events. One that occurred over the MidWest from the Arctic Ocean Vortex which was met where the 'blue' shade is with some equatorial air and one that occurred in the Gulf of Mexico which was a heat plumb. The photo below reflects the Arctic Vortex System.
