Which side is which?

The entire power playing in the Persian Gulf is out of hand.

Iran closed the strait within three weeks ago (click here) over violations of the ceasefire which was supposed to include Israel's end of violence in Lebanon.

To begin the Persian Gulf is not international waters. The USA has no particular right to even be in the Persian Gulf. Wall Street complaining is not a valid right of USA to act against another country. Profit and loss is a reality, engaging in war to put a thumb on the scale and it is called racketeering.

Iran is acting in it's own interest when closing it's sovereign waters to international traffic. It has a right to do that.

Trump is engaging in an illegal war against a sovereign authority in Iran as it is far beyond 90 days of war without the explicit act of Congress declaring war.

There are laws that govern blockades regardless of whether Trump wants to abide by it or not. Brut force is not an international permission. The USA Navy or military of any kind has no right attacking a sovereign country when it declared it's own blockade and has been enforcing it through strikes against ships in violation of it.

This mess reminds me of a tennis match. Which player has the control of the court and is up next to serve the ball.

There have been commercial ships fired on by the USA causing deaths of the people on board. There have been persons on commercial ships caught in the middle that have died. All these ships are not necessarily informed as to the tensions in the Persian Gulf and who is controlling the waters. These are innocent parties caught in a dynamic that continues to wax and wane. That is not a war. Those are temper tantrums. Trump does not have permission either by the country, the Congress, or the United Nations Security Council.

The USA cannot disrupt shipping lanes and cause violations in maritime and humanitarian laws as well as the international law of sovereign waters. This is not the place for the USA military. The region needs to solve it's own problems and find peace and cooperation, that can't be done so long as Trump is having temper tantrums over Iran's actions within it's own sovereign authority. The laws of blockade belong to Iran as well as any other authority.

How is any kind of peace to begin to form if the USA continually throws it's weight around?
