The Venezuelan petroleum industry was supplying Cuba with its only source of oil. Cuba wasn’t really paying much if anything for the oil. It was barter with Venezuela.
Cuba has a bit of a strong medical society. It was that medical expertise that Venezuela was receiving for its oil shipments. The control of Venezuelan oil is just causing greater hardship if that is possible.
The USA needs to concern itself with human rights issues it is causing in both Cuba and Venezuela. Oil is not wealth between these countries, it is function.
If Trump believes he can place USA oil companies into Venezuela he is mimicking Iraq. That is war. That means invading a country for the purpose of profits causing suffering and death. This type of action is changing the international character of the USA. Trump and Republican Congressional members need to take the criticism at the United Nations Security Council seriously.
I see a lot of parallels between the Iraq invasion and the tensions with Venezuela. Trump thinks this will about an election strategy and turning the deportation of Venezuelans into votes as a liberator. This needs to stop. This is parallel strategy with the Cubans in Florida every time elections stir the pot for votes. There is real suffering in these countries that is caused directly by these actions.
I don’t consent for Maduro being a strong man to control a country where an election chose someone else. But, causing hardship is not helping the people.
