There have been too many close calls with destabilizing regimes. The large nuclear plants are themselves a significant danger.
Somehow the idea that AI can be controlled to prevent exchange of nuclear weapons without any real declarations of war is not at all logical. So long as AI remains a capacity that continues to develop it’s own capacity and initiatives, then what enters the picture of advanced technology has to be limited to what can be benignly invaded by AI. Nuclear weapons can be eliminated so they simply do not exist and AI has no such capacity.
Artificial intelligence must be viewed as the enemy within. Only when AI is identified as having power that is limitless will governments understand the danger they face from their own nuclear stockpiles. So the renewal of the New Start Treaty in February 2026 must begin the denuclearization process between two nuclear powers while the UN nonproliferation treaty takes a new dominance in international relations. All countries with nuclear weapon capacity that does not participate in nonproliferation will have to be ostracized and marginalized in ways that result in compliance.
The candidates in the USA for the 2026 elections have to have a clear vision of non-proliferation as a major marker for voters. The outcome of the renewal and passage of stronger treaties in 2026 by the current House and Senate will provide the insight needed to voting.
No more of the “do nothing” Congress lead around by the nose of million/billionaires.
Candidates must be held responsible for their votes.
