The instability of The Hawaiian Hot Spot

In all sincerity, I am getting a little nervous about Yellowstone. It hasn’t exactly been a calm, benign dead caldera recently.

The volcanic activity on and near the North American plate has increased measurably. Iceland is still waiting for its activity to stop. I strongly believe caution needs to override any idea that the volcanic areas of the world are simply the occasional belching.

With the magma layer of Earth under pressure from the Hawaiian Hot Spot, the simple volcanic belching is becoming a matter of old chambers filling up again. Earth is kindly saying, “Is everyone paying attention?”

Why not the Pacific Plate? The Ring of Fire has been very active. That activity began about a decade ago after the Christmas Tsunami, which effected the tilt of Earth.
