The US has a serious Climate Storm coming. Yes, life and death. People are used to thinking that their infrastructure is going to fail.

The alerts to this has to be taken as seriously as if they was a Category Five Hurricane coming.

North Michigan is expected to hit -60 Fahrenheit. That is not livable. The other areas this storm is going to hit will see temperatures of -30 to -35 Fahrenheit and everything in between -30 to -60 Fahrenheit.

I'll give you equivalents.

In winters at Vostok the coldest it has gotten in the least severe of winters is -75 Fahrenheit.

In Mucmurdo, in that same type of winter the temperatures achieve -35 Fahrenheit.

Scientists are NOT permitted to stay at their bases during the winter because it is too dangerous to life and there is no possibility of rescue.

If people could travel safely south they should consider that. The cities and towns that will experience this climate event need to have community heating centers, however, there is a chance the electricity can fail. Make preparations for that very real possibility.

I'm not playing around with this.

VEHICLES

Vehicles with an engine of any kind need to have pure anti-freeze in the radiator. At that it will only take it down to -35 Fahrenheit, last time I looked. Emergency vehicles need to be kept running to maintain the engine compartment warm so the lines won't freeze.

Animals in this cold will not survive. There is a strong chance livestock in barns will not survive either.

No one should be out in this weather.

NO ONE ! Emergency responses will know when it is not safe to be responding to calls. They cannot take the chance when infrastructure starts to fail to continue to respond to emergencies. These services shut down during major hurricanes and this is exactly the same thing.

The USA has never experienced temperatures down to -60 Fahrenheit. Not in my memory.

Mount Washington in New Hampshire is the ONLY place it has gotten this cold before and it was never -60 Fahrenheit. People aren't going to be prepared for this.

No one should ride this storm out alone. If nothing else is an option go to a hotel so others are around in case anything should wrong. Just do it.

–50 Degrees

The weather observatory (click here) that sits atop New Hampshire's Mount Washington bills itself as "the home of the world's worst weather," where the winds sometimes exceed 200 mph (in fact, the highest wind speed ever recorded on land — 231 mph — occurred here on April 12, 1934).
The mountain also is home to some of the nation's coldest temperatures, as the mercury there dropped to 50 degrees below zero Fahrenheit on Jan. 22, 1885.

It isn't the measurable temperatures to worry about it is the WIND CHILL.

Wind chills: gusty (click here) west to northwest winds combined with temperatures in the single digits on Monday and Tuesday will create wind chill readings of 10 to 30 below zero.

There is expected 'White Out' conditions.

Good night.
