Two women were arrested Sunday (click here) for attempting to smuggle unreported U.S. currency into Mexico through ports in Southern Arizona.

In one incident, a 36-year-old Nogales, Sonora woman was taken into custody at the Nogales port of entry after agents found $301,000 in cash hidden in a wheel-well of her vehicle, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.

In the other incident, a 29-year old woman who was a U.S. citizen was arrested at the Douglas port after agents found $108,000 in cash concealed in the center console of her vehicle.

The vehicles and cash were seized in both incidents, and the women were turned over to authorities of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
