This is NOT the first time the world has witnessed tragedy from poor quality concrete and construction.

This MUST be considered a Human Rights Violation from now into the future without an expiration date.

...In this photo,(click title to entry - thank you) the building in the middle largely disintegrated. It looks like poor quality concrete is a culprit. In major public buildings in large cities in China, there is quality control for concrete. Engineers give specifications for the concrete which is prepared in a centralized plant and then delivered to the building site. Samples are set aside for strength tests. If the concrete doesn’t pass muster, the design and construction team can use other methods to strengthen the building....

I ran across this article. What I know about 'types' of concrete anyone could put in a thimble. I know it is an organic substance with lots of carbon content including sand which speaks to its 'crumbling' properties. But, to actually understand things like 'cider block' and other forms of concrete, short of wishing every humanly used structure were constructed with triangles, don't ask me about the manufacturer of what is considered quality concrete.

Caribbean cement brand enters Belize (click here)

In recent years, Belizean builders have already been accustomed to making their structures using cement produced by Central American nations, such as the Cemento Maya from Mexico, Cessa from El Salvador, or the Bijao from Honduras. In truth, the most recent construction boom in Belize was made possible by these South American companies.

A new wave of cement materials are coming out, though. These cements all come from Jamaica. The main differentiating factor of these cement brands is that they are much more affordable than their Central American counterparts. This is because of the Caricom Single Market and Economy Tariff, which puts a lower tax on goods coming in from the Caribbean....

I sincerely hope this 'new product' isn't just the 'old product' in new packaging. I also know enough to realize there are disasters waiting to happen in many countries around this planet. It has to stop. People cannot be asked to live, work and play in shoddy building construction anymore. They are better off in huts or tents than this mess.

The United Nation's Security Council should be assigned a new job in relation to Human Rights Abuses. They need to demand all current substandard concrete structures, in any city, in any country begin to be replaced by buildings meeting
'a code' that offers dangerless environments to human life through their design and construction materials. This is simply outrageous.

All substandard building materials being sold ANYWHERE have to be listed as 'illegal' as if they were a dangerous substance along with dynamite.
