Who is next? Who wants the immoral business of their husbands to end?

New York -
A US oil baron faces losing half his £7.4 billion ($11.2bn) fortune (click here) in what could be the most expensive divorce in history.
Harold Hamm could break the £1.1billion record for a settlement, set by Rupert Murdoch, when he and his wife Sue Ann go their separate ways after 25 years together.
According to the law in Oklahoma, Mr Hamm may have to hand over half the wealth he accumulated running the petrol giant Continental Resources.
The company has been subpoenaed by a US court, along with four other companies owned by Mr Hamm.
The 67-year-old made his fortune as a leading force in the American oil boom and served as the senior energy adviser to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s campaign.
Time magazine named him one of the most influential people in the world, while Forbes ranks him at 90 on its global wealth list.
Economist and lawyer Mrs Hamm, 56, has held key posts at Continental, which could play in her favour when the settlement comes to be drawn up, but she no longer works for the company....

Place high tariffs on USA gun imports.

Do not import USA guns. Don't do it. Ban the import of USA guns and ban exports to the USA.

Seriously.

Enough of this mess in the USA.

Give life sentences to those importing USA guns illegally!

Pope Francis has no fear of the HIggs Boson.

Vatican says up to 200,000 packed into St Peter's Square to hear Pope Francis vow to urge Catholics to 'protect creation'

The Higgs Boson still yields to the idea that "The God Particle" is still a particle.

Pope Francis is fine and needs to focus on the poverty within the people of the Catholic Church.

Senator Feinstein is correct, both morally and constitutionally. Words cannot and should not override the rights of Americans to their lives.

"I don't really think the idea that you can ban them or reduce the magazine will really pass constitutional muster," Malcolm said. "If your standard is common use, these are all in common use for lawful purposes."  (click here)

This idea that 'common use' of an assault weapon is nonsense. It is the same cultural oppression that surrounded Roe v. Wade. Somehow, the reason women could not possibly have rights to abortion was because the legislation was 'constructed strictly' to survive a constitutional challenge. What the Supreme Court stated was regardless of the strict construction of the legislation wording women were dying when seeking an abortion and that was not a reasonable law.

The same it true with the NRA's pride and joy, the high cost assault weapons that is at the heart of death and destruction in local violence throughout the world. It is not reasonable to uphold a law that provides COMMON USE of weapons that kill vast numbers of people that weren't engaged in defending themselves. Any law that upholds the sales of military style weapons in the USA is corrupt and unconstitutional.

It is about getting guns off the street.

Who would not back these efforts? Governor Christie even signed two laws this month to stop cruelty to animals.

Defense: FY2012 Budget Request, Authorization and Appropriations
Summary
President Obama’s FY2012 budget request, sent to Congress on February 14, 2011, included $670.9 billion in discretionary budget authority for the Department of Defense (DOD), of which $553.1 billion was for the so-called “base budget” of the department (that is, the cost of routine, peacetime operations excluding the cost of ongoing operations in Iraq and Afghanistan). The remaining $117.8 billion in the DOD budget request was to cover the cost of so-called “overseascontingency operations (OCO),” including operations in those two countries.

The Overseacontingency operations is what will cease once the deployments to Afghanistan ends. There will be some left to deal with in places where troops are currently deployed in Africa and Turkey. So, we aren't finished completely with the OCO after the troops come home from Afghanistan.

The "base budget" is out of control. This is free money to the state budgets of the states in receipt of them. The 'base budget' has to be replaced by local economies and tourism.

Before getting into the BCA, one has to realize why it is healthy for local governments to move into local economies based in tourism where there are military bases. It is called a diversified economy that demands respect. Has anyone actually spend a weekend or a few days in a military town? It is interesting. The local governments are lazy. Very lazy. There are all kinds of entertainment for MEN. If you know what I mean? There are car dealerships, too. I wouldn't call that a healthy economy.

So, when a local economy has to answer for a higher purpose the local government isn't so darn lazy anymore. The local government has to clean up the streets and drive out drug dealers, too. The local bars and alcoholic beverage joints need to clean up their lots and have real value rather than cheap gin for sale. Or better said, 'A good time by the barrel.'

The idea 'the military town' is actually a good one is hideous and ridiculous. Try to raise children in those neighborhoods rather than 'living on base.'

There is much to be done and I have no doubt by the time the local economies are rehabilitated there will be a change in those elected.

That said, we go forward unafraid. As a matter of fact, the leadership of the military base should REQUIRE quality of life in a healthy way for the cities surrounding any military base. The base leadership needs to have a diplomatic contingency that seeks these dynamics for their enlisted.

However, the Budget Control Act (BCA) enacted in early August 2011 set ceilings on FY2012 discretionary budget authority that required a reduction of $35.7 billion from the total requested for so-called “security agencies”—a category that includes the DOD base budget, the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, and State as well as the Energy Department’s Nuclear National Security Agency and the international activities of other agencies.

Below is a link to the BCA. "The Sequester" is Title I.

TITLE I—TEN-YEAR DISCRETIONARY CAPS WITH SEQUESTER (click here)
Sec. 101. Enforcing discretionary spending limits.
Sec. 102. Definitions.
Sec. 103. Reports and orders.
Sec. 104. Expiration.
Sec. 105. Amendments to the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act
of 1974.
Sec. 106. Senate budget enforcement.

Long standing military base towns have history. That history can and should become a part of the town's identity.

Example: Georgetown, South Carolina. I know about this town and can comment, it has nothing to do with sounding like "W."

Georgetown's main street has incorporated it's history into it's economy. At any point along the waterfront and the main street there are shops for tourists. There are historic economic sites on the main street that have really interesting shops on their first floor. These shops sell local artist expressions as well as vending machines of refreshments along with historical documents for sale. What I found most interesting were two wooden boxes of post cards from 'time periods' of the past. To read the actual words of people of 'a time gone by' on post cards delivered by the US Post Office to family and friends was fascinating. Talk about understanding the past culture, it was an eye opener.

Being a sincere tourist is what is the most rich experience of the time one spends. Taking the time to spend on growing knowledge is most rewarding. It adds immensely to conversations, then and later. When one engages the shop keepers, they can even provide more insight than anyone expected.

On this day in 1781, (click here) Patriot commanders Lieutenant Colonel Light Horse Henry Lee and Brigadier General Francis Swamp Fox Marion of the South Carolina militia combine forces and conduct a raid on Georgetown, South Carolina, which is defended by 200 British soldiers.
Marion won fame and the Swamp Fox moniker for his ability to strike and then quickly retreat into the South Carolina swamps without a trace. His military strategy is considered an 18th-century example of guerilla warfare and served as partial inspiration for the film The Patriot, starring Mel Gibson....

This is an article from "The History Channel." Any city with a military history can develop pride in their history. It isn't that difficult. It is there to find.

I am confident everyone has heard about "The Lewis and Clark Trail."

The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail (click here) extends over 3,700 miles, passes through 11 states, and includes more than 100 sites from Illinois to the Pacific Coast. For directions to specific sites or locations along the Trail please contact the site you plan to visit or Trail headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. Click on the state names below for more information on Trail sites in those states.

Route 66 ?
The Historic Route 66 web site is dedicated to provide free information for those who want to learn more about Route 66....
These projects linked cities and towns and experiences into a 'travel vacation' idea. They are great ideas, especially for bus tourist companies.
There is no reason why there aren't travel experiences along the East Coast of the USA either. So, there are economies to conquer and perfect. Accessible economies by a wide variety of incomes. They can even include places like Atlantic City and it's historic place in the country's growth and expansion. Time to get busy.

Governors and mayors, where are you?

According to Title I of the BCA this defines where The Sequester is suppose to happen.

‘‘SEC. 251. ENFORCING DISCRETIONARY SPENDING LIMITS.
‘‘(a) ENFORCEMENT.—
‘‘(1) SEQUESTRATION.—Within 15 calendar days after Congress adjourns to end a session there shall be a sequestration to eliminate a budget-year breach, if any, within any category.

I'll start their next time.

The Democratic Paradigm in Elections has to shift. There is no reason not to.

During Primaries Democrats have to put forward candidates for office based on PERFORMANCE, not promises. Mayor Bloomberg figured that out. The candidates have to be electable, but, they also have to have a performance to match their promises.

Democrats have to keep the sincere problems of the electorate before them all the time until the problems are resolved. Promises don't do that and when we elect people based on their public image, ideology and stated purpose once they get to DC or the State Capital without a performance to the ends we are looking for then we have an empty seat that can be swayed by the Plutocrats.

Democrats elected in primaries have to have KNOWLEDGE, demonstrate leadership and have faced down the Plutocrats in a real way that leads to the outcomes the electorate seeks. If that doesn't happen the people will be left with an empty democracy at a time when we have no clock to run out until the next election.

Put aside $100 per election to back the candidate of choice that has proven their ability to make a difference and stands for what is necessary to achieve. Donate. Put the money into the candidate's future and have a real stake in the game. We can do this if we budget our patriotic success into our household budgets. We can do this. I know we can. Research the candidates, attend rallies and town halls and keep the neighborhood up to speed about who is real and who ain't.

Print handouts from the computer printer or hand write the notes. But, pass bullet points to neighbors and friends and watch participation grow. Don't take on the world, it is not possible, but, we can win within our neighborhoods and our city blocks. Have the kids spend a Saturday afternoon coloring a native flower in the corner of the flyer and then take an hour on Sunday afternoon to pass them out to the neighbors. It is called politics. Local economies need local politics to protect them and grow them. We need the people in our local, state and federal governments that can achieve and not just promise.

The Democratic Party has been at least 45% of the electorate for decades. What the heck happens after the elections?

Very cute. Everyone voted their re-election. Now, when are they going to get serious about the Climate Crisis?

The entire planet is dried up. There are tornadoes in Australia. You  know, the folks that stand beside us in Afghanistan and where we have a military base now. Those folks. They have at times laid tarps on the ground to preserve the morning dew during their droughts. Australia. It's dried up. There were fires there. Now, New Zealand is dried up. The people next door to Australia. Drought. It is SPREADING. The entire world is drying up because the USA has no Climate Crisis legislation.

And what do the folks that have to live outside of the lap of luxury get? A thought bubble over every Senator's head stating, "Wait until the next election." I don't think so.

Time marches on and the global drought continues every second of every minute of every day. Senator Reid has used two of his three strikes. He blew it on the filibuster and now is gave Senator Feinstein a rough go rather than standing at his microphone and stating, "Hey, look, we have less than forty votes for the Assault Weapons Ban, so it will be introduced as an Amendment, but, you folks have some work to do to get it passed."

Now's the time to prepare for the heat waves, (click here) heavy rains and droughts that climate change will bring, says Stanford Woods Institute's Chris Field, a noted climate researcher.
By Rob Jordan
Speaking Aug. 1 at a contentious U.S. Senate hearing on climate change, Stanford Woods Institute Senior Fellow Chris Field, an expert on climate change, offered a stark yet hopeful analogy.
Just as speeding increases the chance of having a car accident, climate change intensifies the risk of heat waves, droughts and heavy precipitation, said Field. He testified before the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.
"We can point clearly to the causal mechanism, but it's still difficult to predict exactly when or where the crisis - either the accident from speeding in a car or the disaster that's related to climate change - will occur, he said. "But still, we can have high confidence in the driving mechanism."...

Enough of the nonsense. NASA has found higher levels of oxygen in the upper atmospheres of this planet. The entire gaseous layer of Earth has changed. The water vapor at the surface of the planet is gone. It is in the upper troposphere. It is time to submit legislation backed by profound proof from the scientific community backed by public comment of additional scientists that are not necessarily employed by the USA government. These experts are called professors. The United Nations has one of the most qualified voices by the name of Chris Fields. Enough already.

If the USA continues to believe they can pay for their way out of this by appropriating Sandy Funding they are grossly out of touch with reality while they seek to protect election territories. GET OUT THERE and talk to constituents at Town Hall Meetings about the Climate Crisis. This stuff is bad and if the USA continues to do this Australia will have crop losses that will cause suffering in that country. What then happens to our allies? This is craziness.

The monies have migrated to the upper 1% or less and they have captured some kind of footing through pressure on the electorate to cause the LACK of effective measure on climate and gun control. This is incredible. We lost have our democracy. There needs to be some real soul searching here people. Tomorrow is too late and getting later by the minute.

Dear god, Joe, who said you should be sleeping?

"So tell me Joe where are you staying while you are in town?"

"Motel 8"

"That is not a good idea, Joe. I heard the communist extremist group bugged the place last week."

I am a little tired of the the silliness surrounding the expenditures of the Executive Office of the USA. Just a little. Do the bozos that put together these hideous articles and news reel clips together ever stop to think about what they are telling the public?

Ya, know. Like taking things out of complete context to make the point, the cheap shot, "Well, I couldn't do that." No clue.

If the Secret Service were to find a Motel 8 for the Vice President to stay in for two days, they would have to spend more money securing the place every time the Vice President made a trip for the purpose of the Executive Branch of the USA. It wasn't as though he went hiking on the Appalachian Trail and it cost $500,000 a night.

It is my best guess, this is the cost of national security for our Vice President. You know the guy next in line for leading the nation. The cost has to do with security of his one and only body. That means these locations are APPROVED by the USA Secret Service as the places they can trust to actually carry out their duties.

If journalists want to seek criticism of the spending of the USA Secret Service why not ask their director for an interview about how these decisions are made. Oh, wait. That might mean the journalists have to actually do some work to achieve their pay checks. I forgot, going for the cheap tabloid stuff is so much better than actually providing valuable information to the nation.

Paris may be known as the City of Light, (click here) but that title certainly doesn’t mean that visitors are light on spending as Vice President Joe Biden’s one day trip cost taxpayers more than half a million dollars.
When Mr Biden and his hefty entourage stayed in Paris for an evening in early February and it cost $585,000.50 for that single night.
The Vice President likely rented out more than 100 rooms in the Hotel Intercontinental Paris Le Grand, though they must not have gotten a group discount rate....

The COLDNESS.

The Weather Channel temperature map

Water Vapor is a greenhouse gas. Why? Because it takes the infrared heat from the surface of Earth and captures it. Water has THAT property. It controls heat within a 100 degree centigrade range. It makes clouds when it sticks to particles.

Earth's water vapor is no longer at Earth's surface. As a matter of fact there is more O2 in the upper atmosphere's of Earth than ever before. But, that is another aspect of the Climate Crisis that if for some reason the oxygen decides to burn in the upper tropospheres will be bad. Earth's spheres of atmosphere are out of balance in their distribution of their components, too.

Osmosis. As the balance of spheres change it is done by osmosis. The water vapor moved up and so did other gases. I posted the image about the 'sheen' in the sky before.

But, the reason there is continued cold is because there is no surface water vapor to distribute heat. There were a series of images the other day that will explain it, hopefully. I'll post them here.

Better yet, let's keep it current.

The Weather Channel temperature change map in past 24 hours.

If one viewed this map about 24 hours ago the positive numbers would have been on the west coast.

But consider that. Movement. Movement from west to east of temperature changes.

The negative numbers are very negative and the positive numbers are very positive. DOUBLE DIGITS in come areas. Yes?

What would do that? What would cross the country changing the surface temperature of the air? A weather system, right? When the weather system passes over the land the temperatures go up because the system has higher temperatures. When the weather system passes by the temperature RETURNS to a native state unaffected by the weather.

Earth by nature is an ice planet. It is the greenhouse gases that gives Earth it's biotic content.

The Weather Channel North Pole Satellite image

The purple regions are vortexes. They are weather systems traveling across the face of the planet.

The POSITIVE changing temperatures of the USA are at 6 o'clock. There is a vortex crossing the middle of the country exactly where there are positive temperature changes. The ABSENCE of water vapor at the east and west boundaries of the USA have returned to NEGATIVE temperature movement.

The other day I posted a picture by NASA illustrating the drought in New Zealand. It literally is dried up.

If I can find the video of the New Zealand weather report from the other day I'll post it here. The weather report was totally dependent on a storm crossing the country, otherwise there would be no relief from the drought.

The point is, this is happening globally. At any point on Earth there are huge tropospheric vortices 'lending' water vapor to drought stricken lands. Depending how that water vapor is captured by Earth and/or human beings it provides a water source. At one point in Australia they were putting tarps over the morning dew to prevent it from vaporizing.

The Arctic Ocean is melting. It is not increasing in density because the temperature increase there is up to 5 degrees in some areas. Just because Earth is an ice planet by nature doesn't mean it will automatically grow ice if the tropospheric temperatures remain high because the vortexes have passed over and leave coldness in their wake.

What the USA is experiencing with the coldness today is due to the LACK OF WATER VAPOR at the surface of the planet. Does that mean everything it going to recap with ice? No. It is spring, the CO2 content is still high and the sun is coming north.

To complete the picture.

The drone program grew out of the CIA Black Sites. Interrogate, torture, surveillance and attack.

The program is administered by The President because otherwise it would turn the CIA into an autonomous authority to carry out an act of war. Literally, a single CIA agent could carry out a mini-war alone.

It is questionable the real purpose of the drone program in connection with the CIA. It provides too much power to what should be exclusively an intelligence gathering arm of the USA government. The entire idea of Black Sites are wayward. They, along with the drone program, have the ability to put the USA into war without real authority to do so.

The drones may prove to help in Africa to find Rebel Groups and stop them, but, there is no real purpose beyond surveillance. The military has it's own ability to spy and always has. The military's intelligence gathering is manned by human beings.

The helicopters in the Bin Laden raid were throw away from the beginning. They had no real capacity except for the mission they were used for. The one surviving helicopter is probably a status symbol at some military base somewhere, but, has no real capacity. It is slower and has no real operational purpose.

I like 35 mm far better than digital. 35 mm is honest. If you don't understand that, then you don't understand film.

The only interesting part of this film was the operation of the team itself. Bigelow didn't understand what she was looking at when she made this film. She played politics.

The courier was there in the files of the USA the entire time. Cheney and Bush instituted torture and it was never necessary. The torture had absolutely nothing to do with the death of Osama bin Laden. The CIA under Bush lost it's focus and deferred to an Executive Branch's demands when that Executive Branch was already out of control and in violation of international laws and the USA Constitution.

The CIA never did the ground work before they embarked on torturing prisoners. They never sifted through files and put pieces together. They were focused on brutalizing prisoners and that was their only focus until President Obama came into office and the demands to end torture and return to intelligence and police work was instituted.

The information was there the entire time. Right under their noses and for nine years the CIA ignored it while there were demands made by the Bush Administration for results from torture. It was hideous, ridiculous, added to enough costs of war, prolonged the war and was a propaganda tool to enhance the culture of fear in the USA.

If Osama bin Laden was captured and/or killed within the first year or two of the Afghanistan War, it would have been over. Al Qaeda would be dead, there would be no offspring from al Qaeda, the USA would no longer need the fly zone over Pakistan and the war into Iraq would have been realized for what it was. UNNECESSARY.

Bigelow missed the entire reality of the hunt for Osama bin Laden. The evidence was there to find and to say torture was necessary completely dismisses the FACT no one had looked for him in the face of compelling information otherwise. The CIA lost it's way and it has been a growing snowball ever since.  They never applied BASIC intelligence work to finding the global criminal. Never, not one day in the Bush/Cheney White House did the CIA conduct itself as it should.

That is the real story and Bigelow missed it completely.

...I served my country, (click here) loyally and well, as a covert CIA operations officer focused on stopping nuclear weapon proliferation until the Bush administration decided to betray my secret identity as payback for my husband questioning the White House's justification for the Iraq War. The lesson was simple: If you offer the public a true story that is at odds with what the government wants you to know, they will stop at nothing to destroy you, your reputation, and the reputations of the people around you....

What was that? No Yellow Cake? Really.

Stopping nuclear weapon proliferation? Why would anyone want to do that if Cheney was counting on a limited nuclear engagement with Russia?

What Bigelow did is what everyone else did during the Bush years, they dove into lies and imagineering for money. So much for ethics and being a patriotic American, that was left up to the fools that didn't see the gravy train or wouldn't be a part of it.

Katherine Sebelius is doing to Medicare what the Republican Congress has done to the USA Post Office.

She is defunding the system and destroying the infrastructure of the USA. She can go home to Kansas and run some rural health care systems while she hands of the Medicare and Medicaid aspects of the Affordable Care Act over to the Social Security Administration where it belongs. She has been handing out waivers like candy and now she is going to privatize Medicare. This is where we came in and this is where she leaves.

The American people pay for their government. They pay for their Earned Benefits that will see them through their later years. It is time to put the monies into the USA Treasury and leave them there.

The Medicare program is not a voucher program and it will remain that way. The Medicare program is paid for by sovereign monies of the USA. Those monies will remain in the USA administered by employees of the USA and paid to doctors and hospitals for services provided in the USA.

No Wall Street health insurance company is going to take the sovereign monies of the people that paid for their benefits and invest them in China. It isn't going to happen and we are all sick and tired of the fraud that has proven to exist when Wall Street health insurance companies handle the care of Americans.

NO MORE. It is why the Affordable Care Act was passed and it is why Secretary Sebelius is guilty of violating the trust of the American people. I don't care if there are Democratic governors or Republican governors OUTSOURCING Medicare and Medicaid to Wall Street is a violation of the public trust. It is time for Katherine Sebelius to find another job. I don't want her there anymore.

If Paul Ryan and the House Republicans want to defund the Affordable Care Act then what occurs afterward belongs to them. The law remains intact and in effect. Ryan is playing politics with the budget and this is an example that proves it. He wants to defund the Affordable Care Act and remove all those Medicaid monies to the Governors that have decided it is in the best interest of their states to accept the federal funding. Ryan's goal is not the National Debt, it is to embarrass the Republican Governors that accepted the funding so that in their next primary the Tea Party can displace them. That is what this is all about, so let the Republican House get on with it and the American people can see the Ryan budget for what it finally is.

The people of the USA need to make wise choices and not the choice of ruthless Republicans willing to endanger the lives of Americans for the sake of their politics. I am extremely unhappy with this latest development of American Health Care and oppose any privatization of any of the monies dedicated to this purpose.

We have been here before and Sebelius ain't in Kansas anymore, but, she certainly can return when she is ready.

The budget will pay for renovations to Guantanamo while there are perfectly good prisions sitting empty on USA soil, but, there is no money for Medicare. Yeah and I was born yesterday.

Guantánamo: the most expensive prison on earth (click here)

The cost to house a captive at Guantánamo Bay is $800,000 per year, far in excess of other federal or state lockups.

Posted on Friday, 11.25.11

...That’s more than 30 times the cost of keeping a captive on U.S. soil....

These are the Republican priorities for the USA. Spend monies on prisons to house idiots of terror while there are empty maximum security prisons in the USA while they rob the elderly blind and stick it to them while they die.

The Republicans would like to call it honor, but, it is far from it.

President Barack Obama signed (click here) the National Defense Authorization Act of 2013 on Wednesday, despite his own threat to veto it over prohibitions on closing the Guantanamo Bay prison camp.
Civil liberties advocates had roundly criticized the bill over Guantanamo and a separate section that could allow the military to indefinitely detain American citizens on suspicions of supporting terrorism. Just as he did with last year's version of the bill, however, Obama decided that the need to pass the NDAA, which also sets the armed forces' $633 billion budget for the 2013 fiscal year, was simply "too great to ignore," according to a presidential signing statement released in the early morning hours Thursday.
Members of the human rights coalition that had urged Obama to follow through on his veto threat blasted his decision as a cave to congressional Republicans....

There you have it, the people of the USA have been successfully duped again! Forbid Wall Street should skip a beat.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. House narrowly approved a conservative budget plan authored by Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, 221-207, on Thursday on a largely party-line vote.

The fiscal blueprint does not have the force of law but outlines the GOP's priorities over a 10-year budget window to reduce the deficit and overhaul the Medicare system.

No Democrats voted for the plan. "House Republicans decided to double down on the failed policies that the American people rejected just a few months ago," said Senate Budget Chairwoman Patty Murray, D-Wash.
The Democratic Senate is debating a competing budget Thursday with passage scheduled Friday. Congress will then adjourn for a two-week spring recess....

Democrats wouldn't vote for it regardless of President Obama's pandering. Hello?

Sebelius is authorizing Premium Support. It is NOT the law!

We have waited for this law for a generation and this is what is being done to it. Absolutely not!

Ryan has taken the country hostage along with the Affordable Care Act. He can go straight to hell. We will not be intimidated by a man that wants to pad the pockets of Wall Street!

The Republicans are scam artists. Enough, they accept the law the way it was written or they get nothing. There is such a thing as principle and this is it. Let the Republicans cut the Affordable Care Act to the bone and we'll see what 2014 looks like. This is a betrayal! They are a bunch of crooks!

...But premium support (click here) is gaining fresh momentum among congressional Republicans as a way to control Medicare spending as the debate rages over entitlement reform and the deficit, say analysts, lobbyists and congressional aides.
"It's an idea that becomes more politically seaworthy with every passing day, because there are no other legitimate alternatives that can simultaneously control costs in a rational fashion and broaden access to quality care," said Robert Moffitt of the conservative Heritage Foundation....
It is the beginning of privatization of Medicare. Has Sebelius gone mad? Here we go. The corruption and the cronies are out in full force. It is not constitutional. It is not the law and Sebelius needs to resign!

Republicans in other states, including Florida, Louisiana, Pennsylvania and Texas, have expressed interest in the option since Gov. Mike Beebe of Arkansas, a Democrat, received a green light from Kathleen Sebelius, the federal secretary of health and human services.
Valerie Jarrett, a top White House aide, has been a catalyst in talks with Ohio and other states.
The idea of using “premium assistance” to buy private insurance for new Medicaid beneficiaries is a sharp departure from the 2010 health care law, in which Congress expanded Medicaid to cover the poorest Americans and assumed that people with higher incomes would obtain private coverage through the exchanges.
In many states, Republicans are trying to create a hybrid of the two alternatives, taking federal money for the expansion of Medicaid but using it to help people buy commercial insurance instead.
State Senator Jonathan Dismang, a Republican from central Arkansas, said the idea appealed to him because it would “use the markets to provide better health care and to increase competition in the health insurance industry,” which could drive down costs.
The Arkansas Medicaid director, R. Andrew Allison, said the state had obtained “conceptual approval” from Ms. Sebelius to use Medicaid money to help low-income adults enroll in private insurance through the exchange in 2014. This arrangement, he said, could double the number of people in the exchange, to perhaps 500,000, while shrinking enrollment in the traditional Medicaid program....
Good bye, Secretary Sebelius!!!!!

It is so good to see President Obama with the Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas.

US President Barack Obama and Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas review the honour guard during an official arrival ceremony at the Muqata, the Palestinian Authority headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Mr Obama's trip to Ramallah  (click here) was bookended by stark reminders of the tensions in the region as Palestinian militants fired rockets across the border and Iran threatened to destroy two Israeli cities.
The President held talks with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and told a news conference that the US is "deeply committed" to a two-state solution, but the only way to achieve it is through negotiation.
Mr Obama said that Israel's ongoing settlement building was unhelpful to the pursuit of peace but urged the Palestinians not to make halting the policy a precondition for negotiations....
There was a word that impressed me about the President's speech when discussing a Mideast Peace between the two nations of Israel and Palestine.

The word was contiguous.

One of the frequent complaints we hear from Israel is the difficulty that exists in defending it's borders because it is a small country. It is not only a small country, but, it has another country existing within it. There are some problems when such realities exist.

The complaints about the Jewish Settlements goes on and the Palestinians are very upset over the way their land simply disappears into Israeli lands. In the documentary, "Five Broken Cameras," there is a man that is asked where he lives. He says, 'I have no home, my land has been taken from me by Israel.' And he is asked if he will ever be able to go back to his land with a peace agreement with Israel and he states, 'No, they built on it.'

To say Israel is not sensitive to the problems with the settlements is a lie. They are. They were sensitive enough under Prime Minister Sharon to vacate Gaza. That is not a minor gesture. That was sincere trauma for Israel. So, the Palestinians have to first appreciate the sacrifice Israel has made for peace already.

The problem, as I see it, is not so much what Israel has to do to achieve peace with Palestine, but, what is Palestine doing to appreciate such a gesture toward the reality of peace. Such appreciation would go a long way to find a final resolution to peace.

The problem in Palestine in reaching a peaceful resolve to their homeland has to begin with recognition of Israel's right to exist by Hamas. While President Abbas may have already passed that hurdle, Hamas and the people of Gaza want nothing more but concessions by Israel to make it disappear off the map.

If Israel realizes it has a challenge to defend it's borders than why is that not the case with the Palestinian nation? Does it not want to have defensible borders to it's country or does it want to exist in fragmented pieces with no chance of it's people living within one nation. A fragmented Palestine had destabilized both Israel and Palestine. There is no cohesive government because of the fragmented nations. Israel is  far more stable because it has the larger land mass, but, Palestine cannot go on forever in fragments and separated people.

i realize the land within Israel is precious based on religious beliefs. The land of the Middle East in many countries is the same commodity. Even Iraq, when invaded by the USA has precious religious lands. I suppose they could be considered religious landmarks and designated under UN charters as special places that cannot be destroyed. But, somehow the depth these lands touch the very essence of religious beliefs is more profound than any status it can be afforded. So, the lands within Israel are not unique in their importance to religious beliefs. As proof, the pilgrimages by many ethnicity to these lands is historic.

The Palestinians are Muslim in their religious beliefs. The Jewish people are not. The primary focus of one of the Five Pillars of the Muslim faith is not in Jerusalem but in Mecca. Mecca is protected by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

So, while Jerusalem is important to the Palestinian nation, it is also important to many, many other faiths. The fact of the matter is Jerusalem is being used by extremists to seek leverage to again remove Israel from the map. That was realized a long time ago by Yassar Arafat, former Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), President of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), and leader of the Fatah political party and former paramilitary group, which he founded in 1959. It is that recognition that brought him to the peace tables with Israel.

There are some things that are possible in the real world and some things that are ideological. The idea Jerusalem can be shared is not realistic. There is no threat to the openness of Jerusalem to any pilgrim to the Holy Land unless a war would break out to remove Israel from existence. That would be bad.

The idea Israel is not a real country and somehow carved out of a fantasy has been laid to rest a long time ago. The Jewish people have paid dearly for their expulsion from the Holy Land by Romans and otherwise. It is time to end this mess in a way that makes sense and is POSSIBLE. Arafat knew that and it is time all Palestinians realize the dream of their leader was peace. Arafat rejected the extremists. He had to live among them, but, he ultimately rejected the Sheik's idea of the best outcome to join with the rest of the world with what was possible.

I believe it is a mistake to leave out the voice of the former Palestine leader Yassar Arafat to bring about peace. Arafat was a realist and Hamas dearly needs to be reminded of that. The people displaced by the Israeli settlements need to be compensated so they can get on with their lives. It is wrong for Israel to ignore that reality. Israel has radicalized these people and never bothered to explain their possibilities or offer a direction for their lives and their children.

...One of the reasons given (click here) for why the American president might ...want to skip Ramallah is the fact that if he visits the secured and natural offices of the Palestinian president he will have a political difficulty. Pundits (mostly western) are claiming that if Obama passes by the grave of Yasser Arafat which is centrally located within the Muqata’a presidential compound that the American leader will have a difficult choice. Not laying a wreath will be seen as an insult to Palestinians while doing so would be seen in negative terms by some Israelis.
This is precisely the political correctness that has made a mockery of the so called claims that the US is an honest broker when it comes to the Middle East conflict....
