Egypt is playing with fire

By
URI DAN

In the extensive maneuvers conducted by the Egyptian Army from time to time, Israel is not designated explicitly as the foe, but all the characteristics attributed to "the enemy" by the Egyptian General Staff are remarkably similar to those of Israel and its armed forces.
In fact, Egypt's land and air forces, equipped with the latest American weapons, constitute the greatest potential threat to Israel. It is therefore of vital importance not to change the peace agreement between Israel and Egypt signed by Menachem Begin and Anwar Sadat at the White House in March 1979. The agreement guaranteed that the Sinai Desert given up by Begin would remain demilitarized; and that Egypt would be permitted to deploy a limited number of troops only, in the Suez Canal area far from Israel's border.

Time's short for Gaza hothouses

Time is running out to find buyers for the Gaza settlers' hothouses. Israel wants to sell them to the Palestinians intact rather than dismantling them, warned Nigel Roberts, director of the World Bank in Gaza and the West Bank.

Stunning poll win for Iran hardliner

By
ORLY HALPERN

A former Revolutionary Guard and hardline conservative won the Iranian presidential elections, causing shockwaves in his country and around the world.
Garnering the votes of the poor and disenfranchised, the 48-year-old Teheran mayor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad steamrolled his rival, the pragmatist and politically savvy cleric, Hashemi Ali Rafsanjani, and
won the presidency by a landslide on Friday. Announced on state television, the results gave Ahmadinejad 61.6 percent of the vote over Rafsanjani's 35.9 percent. The rest of the ballots were deemed invalid.

Hillel tries to help Israelis celebrate Judaism

The University of Haifa will be the fourth Israeli campus with a Hillel branch.

As Hillel prepares to open its newest Israel branch at the University of Haifa this fall, it has found itself answering the question of what an organization that promotes being Jewish does in an already Jewish land. The answer, says Rabbi Yossi Goldman, Associate Vice President for Israel, is easy: the very same thing.
"Our goal is always to maximize the number of Jewish students doing 'Jewish' with other Jews," said Goldman. "We are in a Jewish state but for many in our society Judaism has ceased to be meaningful."

3 Boys Found Dead
By Dwight Ott, Adam Fifield and Kristen A. Graham
Inquirer Staff Writers
The father of one of the three boys missing since Wednesday in Camden discovered his son and two friends dead last night in the trunk of a car in the yard where they were last seen alive.
For two days, authorities from two states scoured the Cramer Hill section of the city and the banks of the Delaware River for Anibal "Juni" Cruz, 11; Daniel "Danny" Agosto, 6; and Jesstin "Manny" Pagan, 5. Relatives, neighbors, and people who never had met the boys joined the search, which drew national attention.

Will they fit?
Simple math: Parkway has no room for 1 million people.
By Larry Eichel
Inquirer Staff Writer
It remains to be seen whether a million people will try to attend the Live 8 concert, as city officials have predicted.
But if they all show up at the same time, they won't fit.
There's simply no way that a crowd that size can be squeezed onto the Benjamin Franklin Parkway between the Art Museum steps and JFK Plaza, also known as LOVE Park.

Israeli government apologises to New Zealand
Helen Clark
26.06.05 5.20pm UPDATE

Israel has apologised for the spy scandal and has promised it will take steps to ensure no similar incident happens again.
Prime Minister Helen Clark today said she was pleased New Zealand and Israel would now be able to resume friendly diplomatic relations.
The relationship has been frosty since Israel refused to apologise for what Miss Clark described as "utterly unacceptable" behaviour surrounding two alleged Mossad agents, Uriel Zoshe Kelman and Eli Cara, who were arrested in March 2004 and charged with trying to fraudulently obtain New Zealand passports.

Goff calls for united front to halt Zimbabwe tours
Phil Goff

By Jonathan Milne

The Government has sought Britain and Australia's support to stamp out the International Cricket Council's stubborn endorsement of the Zimbabwe regime.
Foreign Affairs Minister Phil Goff expected to be in talks late last night with his Australian counterpart Alexander Downer and New Zealand Cricket boss Martin Snedden.
The question of whether the New Zealand team tours Zimbabwe is fast escalating into an international diplomatic stoush.

Kerre Woodham: Cricket could be the key
26.06.05

Yet again, the New Zealand cricketers have been put on the spot over whether to tour Zimbabwe. Martin Snedden has told the players they will face no financial penalty if they bail from the tour, and Helen Clark is refusing, quite rightly, exhortations from the Greens that the cricketers be prevented from going.

Mugabe unmoved by criticism
26.06.05

Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe yesterday defended his Government's crackdown on what it calls illegal settlements - a drive that has left thousands homeless and drawn condemnation from the West.
Two children were crushed to death this month during the campaign critics say has exacerbated an economic crisis, marked by severe food and fuel shortages, unemployment of about 70 per cent and inflation of over 140 per cent. But Mugabe repeated it was part of a bid to fight crime and clean up cities.

Who is the Enemy?

Who is the Enemy?

The USA has enemies outside it’s borders as well as within and it does not need political parties who see the people of this country as a commodity, ‘voters’ rather than those they serve.

The enemies of the USA have finite definition and they are primarily the terrorist networks of the world. Those terrorists seek any avenue that will bring the USA or any other major nation of the world to it’s knees.

What do I mean, to it’s knees?

Weak.

Impoverished.

Psychologically depleted due to internal strife and fear through the very ‘idea’ of loss of safety in day to day life.

Due to the priorities of the Bush/Cheney White House these directives have been achieved by one terrorist attack on the USA orchestrated on September 11, 2001. The Political Machine of the Repuglicans saw the opportunity to ‘rise’ to the occasion and has made the trauma of September 11th the center of everything they do. They have attempted to demoralize this country by moralizing in a manner that has become so obviously political and not religious they are becoming laughable at every turn. The most dramatic example is ‘Terri’s Law’ which served no purpose except as a ‘hot topic’ political issue to their ‘base’ constituency.

The current administration has completely depleted the Treasury surplus, sent the USA into insoluble debt while lavishing images of grandeur by changing the face of USA dollar bills impregnated with gold. They have proposed incredible changes to USA entitlements without first returning the Treasury to a balance whereby the people of this nation can once again enjoy the surplus Bush took away. Bush has replaced Patriotism with greed and rewards anyone who sees it the same way.

The USA has realized a doubling of it’s military budget while it is ‘strapped’ for methods to deal with it’s correct place in Iraq. A doubled budget which defies Non-Proliferation with Don Rumsfeld planning for Nuclear Research while the multi-billion dollar MDS has failed miserably. The USA is so weak militarily due to the quagmire in Iraq that it has pulled troops from South Korea for the first time in fifty years. The USA military still serves in places around the world but are not respected in countries like Indonesia where they are made to take a back seat to pursuits of terrorist networks because of atrocities as realized in Abu Ghraib following the fact the USA disregarded the UN Security Council and the USA Legislative Branches when it entered into an illegal invasion into Iraq.

The weakened nation we now are is a direct result of political greed with an unresponsive economy built on the false promise of ‘real estate’ wealth rather that expanded expertise in the nation’s ‘Brain Trust.’ Bush/Cheney has sought to weaken the economic resolve of this country to force unemployed and underemployed into the military to serve their false agenda of hope through global democracy. At a time when technologies should be growing through the roof of every major economic venue the USA has regressed into deeper and deeper understandings of religious fundamentalism rather than reaching for the ‘Capitalistic’ Brass Ring in genetic research, space exploration, new venues of energy and transportation while new breeds of crops can be found to grow with less water and still have higher yields. At one time the USA fed the world and now our harvests sit in fields waiting for Climate Change events to pass long enough for the soil to dry and support the weight of combines and grain trucks. At a time, when we could be realizing economic growth in making our country safe we are being promised more border guards sometime in 2006 if we are lucky.

In Afghanistan, Osama bin Laden is still at large, the poppy culture is still flourishing to the point Russia is identifying it as a national security issue and we may see Russia move into that still unstable nation after four years of USA influence.

In Iraq, due to the USA’s inability to secure the people’s safety and loyalty mostly because those same people know first hand the problems of Iraq while it takes months and only when media companies like CBS turn on the government to expose the ‘w’rongs of Iraq do we know the truth. The people are unprotected by our military and have formed ethnic militias to protect their hamlets. Those militias have come to be known as benevolent to the people of Iraq and approval of the Iraq Central Government has come as a surprise but a correct one. The USA Coalition has been unsuccessful in developing an Iraqis Military and Police so the people have solved their own problems. The USA military is now running into problems with these militias as demonstrated by confrontation of the Fallujah militia left record numbers of USA women soldiers dead and injured. There is no place for the USA in Iraq anymore as their raids are actually upon government sanctioned militias the people approve of. By running raids on innocent civilians the USA is causing insurgency and not eliminating it.

The USA has exposed itself to a Evangelical Bigot in the White House who would seek to ‘sell’ democracy to countries globally with nothing to offer in the way of economic assistance. Bush and Rice have become the Bully Pulpit for democracy seeking unrest in any country with an oil pipeline such as Georgia.

The people of this country should no longer flounder in any confusion as to whether they are patriotic. To oppose a false agenda of hope through nationalism is wrong and they need to realize putting America First rather than Iraq is the patriotic nature of who we have become under leadership who would seek to make us weak and impoverished.

Enjoy the Fourth of July. Be Patriotic. Oppose Nationalism. Bring the troops home.

Rove's Remarks

This is nothing more than an inflammatory event to CONVERT the nation to 'one mind' and supposedly trying to ostracize 'liberals' from ANY Mainstream Political Party.

No one in the Repuglican Party could get away with saying these horrible things except Karl Rove. No one will criticize a failing White House to try at any cost including the pandering, jailable media to 'redirect' a national conversation to further victimize the people of academia, people who would see children have rights of privacy rather than viewed as a national pentagon register, people who see Global Warming and Climate Change as an eminent directive, a national emergency.

This is horrible use of the media to promote hatred of people who believe in peace.

Rove's remarks

June 25, 2005

Liberals woke up yesterday morning wondering what happened to their Democratic Party. Literally overnight, the Democrats had become the President's staunchest supporters in the war on terror. As much as we welcome the party's change of heart, we were surprised to see that it was precipitated by the architect himself, Karl Rove. The White House Deputy Chief of Staff, speaking at a dinner Wednesday night of the New York State Conservative Party, had a few words on "state of liberalism." In particular, Mr. Rove compared the conservative reaction to September 11 to the liberal reaction. "Conservatives saw the attacks and prepared for war," he said. "Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers." Pretty much sums up the last four years for us. Michael Moore, George Soros and MoveOn.org would certainly agree.

Patriotism vs. Nationalism

Patriotism is the love for or devotion to one’s country.

Nationalism is loyalty to a sense of national consciousness exalting one nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups.

Patriotism is limited to loving the country you were born or you have come to be a citizen. Nationalism is an aggressive act of promoting one culture, one nation’s interests, one nation’s authority throughout the world.

To Stand Against Nationalism Is Patriotic.

When Patriotism is Overrun by Nationalism
