CAFE Standards do more than improve fuel economy, they benefit the general economy with more disposable income.

The majority of crude oil is gasoline for automobiles. There are CAFE Standards to be met by the automobile industry.

Enacted by Congress in 1975, CAFE's purpose is to reduce energy consumption by increasing the fuel economy of cars and light trucks.
