...he does have a political base no differently than the Republicans have a base. The really interesting part of his base is that it is free people that do not have to contribute millions of dollars to participate in his enthusiasm. He has a positive uptick to those he represents. These are the folks disconnected from the political movement of the right wing with the exception of voting. These folks are listened to by Mr. Trump and he cares about their point of view a great deal. His ramblings are consistent over years. This is a his base.
I am happy for them. He is sincere and I do believe he has a sense of sanity to add to the political discourse in the USA.
In regard to Mexico, he is correct, there are criminals coming across the border in any way they can including tunnels. But, they are not the majority of people. Whether one likes it or not the American news media (mostly print) have chronicled the people coming to the USA to work as day laborers. These are good decent people that were willing to believe they could find work to help their families at home. Some have been here long enough to have their families join them. Most of these magnificent people have strong religious beliefs. Many Catholic. They are advocated for by religious organizations and the Catholic Church and Pope that holds them deeply in their hearts.
The reason they come, and Mr. Trump is correct here as well in that they are from many countries other then Mexico, is because their lives in their homelands have become extremely bizarre and dangerous. Now, that isn't all of them and I qualified that. President Obama has also qualified the Undocumented that are written into his Executive Order. Criminals are to be either deported and/or held for trial if they have already committed crimes in the USA.
But, the responsibility of the USA, which Mr. Trump doesn't see as important, is to resolve the turmoil in the countries south of our border. Much of the danger comes from drug cartels that use children, kill innocent people and in some instances are stronger in number and munitions than the sovereign government. The USA, in resolving to end the migration into the USA has a responsibility to assist our neighbors to the south to bring about a peaceful homeland for their people. It is in our best interest to do so. It is also in the interest of national security. Absolutely.
So, while Mr. Trump is very frustrated with the circumstances as they exist, he needs to think about our national security and showing compassion toward people The Holy Sea values and advocates. The Vatican is as sovereign a city as any country. The USA has a relationship with the Vatican. The Vatican has always asked for compassion for their people. They ask that not just in the USA but internationally.
So, I am willing to accept Mr. Trump on his own terms and take what he says seriously, however, my filters to his words is not what he might expect or accept as reasonable. I wish him and his supporters a great deal of fun this political season.
