I like to think I will entertain any idea for the hope it is a good idea, but, commercial space flight is not a good idea. I was optomistic for them in hopes they would rise above my speculation of a horrid outcome, but, that hasn't happened.

The United States (click here) might not be too upset after Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin threatened to cut off space rocket engine supplies. On Friday, a Russian rocket broke apart after its launch and destroyed the booster and payload.
In Kazakhstan on Friday, the Russian Federal Space Agency planned a launch for the Proton-M rocket to carry a communications satellite into orbit. Nine minutes after launch and 100 miles into the air, the rocket burned up in the atmosphere after it went off path.
There should be a law that states, "Space flight is dangerous, expensive and EXPORATORY." In that lies the responsibility for human life within that program that can only belong to a sovereign nation. Space flight is not feasible for a private industry. The costs are too high, both in materials, national priorities, national pride and last but never least human life. If there was a simple law that made that statement mandated in every space project, the answers first would have to be solved as to what is dangerous about the project and how that is going to be mitigated, what is expensive about the project and how that is going to be funded without use of the USA taxpayer/USA Treasury and a very intricate explanation of why this exploratory flight is both safe, within reasonable costs and worth the venture.
See, private industry doesn't have to justify projects like this, they just have to do it. I would love to know how much of the monies recovered by banks and investors of banks and Wall Street actually went into sponsoring the private space industry for the pleasure of the Super Rich. You know QE I, II and III? Those vast amounts of monies, because, quite frankly I don't see any of this happening without it.
The idea a private company can actually produce a worthwhile product that is beneficial to our society is hideous. These projects are hugely expensive and quite frankly it starts to place toys of the Super Rich above national priorities. Somewhere in the next Republican agenda IF there is ever another Republican President is a BAILOUT coming for the private space industry by selling all the assets of NASA in Florida, Texas and California.
I can just see it, the NASA launch pads as the foundation to the next great Florida condo community.
The private space industry demoralizes the nation and puts estranged value on space flight rather than ranking it as a national project of which all scientists at NASA and Goddard approve of, are engaged in and reap vast amounts of knowledge about our universe, solar system and Earth.
I just don't see the reason for a private commercial space industry. It's greatest contribution to science is a 4 minute "You Tube" of "Celebrities in Space."
NASA has been an incredible achievement for the USA. It is the hallmark of the ability of the USA to harness knowledge and accomplish the unaccomplished. NASA was a dream come true for every man, woman and child in the USA. It was not an exclusive fantasy ride for any one person or any one company. It was about the USA and it's people. NASA has been lined with great men and women that have made us proud. I don't and won't feel that way about any commercial space flight. The commercial interests in space flight should have been limited to the satellites our rockets carried aloft.
The investigation into this ? mishap ? better be complete with every letter crossed and dotted.
One other thing, when private companies are buying their engines from other countries IT IS A LOSS IN USA JOBS! Part of the investigation should account for the potential of other engines produced in the USA and the jobs that would have gone along with that. Private industry pinches every penny and that is no way to have a productive space program. They are better off building big ferris wheels.

This untimely occurrence happened two days after Russia yet again voiced its frustration with the United States over sanctions issued by the Obama Administrationfollowing Russia's involvement in Ukraine. Mr. Rogozin said the sanctions were "out of place" and "inappropriate." Shortly after that, he also announced that Russia will no longer use the International Space Station past 2020 and will not supply the U.S. with rocket engines if they use them for military satellite launches....
I honestly don't know where to begin because my objection goes back decades in complaints of Republican Presidents always trying to make space flight profitable for the country and killing people within those ambitions. Let's start with, "What the hell were old Russian engines doing within the sovereign borders of the USA on a flight to the ISS?" AND. "What were old Russian engines doing in the sovereign borders of the USA when the USA has active sanctions against Russia to facilitate saving lives in Ukraine?" Both those questions need to be a part of the investigation to the failure of this commercial EXPERIMENT.
