Fierce storms spawned deadly tornadoes across the south and central U.S. on Sunday, leaving at least 16 dead in Arkansas and weaving a long trail of debris.
Sheriff Andy Shock of Faulkner County, Ark., said at least ten people in the county were killed, KTHV-TV in Little Rock reported. "It's just devastating," Shock said, adding that he expects the number to rise.
Brandon Morris with the state Department of Emergency Management said one person is confirmed dead in White County, Ark., the television station reported. The twister carved a 30-mile trail of damage, and tens of thousands in central Arkansas were without power.
Among the ruins was a new $14 million intermediate school in Vilonia, north of Little Rock, that was set to open this fall....

At least it wasn't me, ya know? Those people are crazy down south anyway. They don't build shelters and they know this mess is going to happen. Their those god people that think god protects them. Like god is going to decide tonight is the night he is going to save a life. Right. I suppose they can be grateful their $14 million school didn't have kids in it. That would be a miracle right? This was nighttime. Good thing, huh? It isn't like Moore, Oklahoma where all those kids were caught in school with no place to run, no place to hide.

PLAIN DEALING, La. (AP) — A suspected tornado (click here) injured one person and heavily damaged a home in northwest Louisiana.
Bill Davis, a spokesman for the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office, says it hit around 3:15 a.m. Monday, about six miles west of Plain Dealing in mostly a rural area.
Davis says a teenager suffered minor cuts and bruises and his home was heavily damage. Several other people in the home were not injured.
He says the power is out and deputies were going home to home checking on other damage.
