The Saudi are interesting folks. They are very busy boys. It is a stable kingdom. Mecca. Clout. Interesting.

Yemeni opposition leaders arrive in Riyadh for talks with GCC foreign ministers. They were received on arrival at the airport by Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Prince Turki bin Muhammad and other senior officials. (SPA)

Now see, if anyone was to listen to Hayden this morning it would be real easy to make a demon of the GCC.  Here we have the Saudis at the center of ?  something synister ?.  They are talking to the opposition in Yemen.  Oh, dear God.  No.  I mean the Saudis are talking to Yemeni oppostion?

Like.

Ah.

What does that mean?  Isn't the opposition al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula?  Well, isn't Saudi Arabia in the Arabian Peninsula?

...In the meeting, the GCC and Yemeni leaders (click title to entry - thank you) discussed a proposal for an early departure of President Ali Abdullah Saleh to secure peace and an end to political unrest in the country. They also reviewed a proposal that calls for a timetable for the president to leave office....

Well, hell, Hayden didn't say anything about that.  Do you call this a caliphate?  A little one maybe?

I don't think so.
