December 10, 2005.

The photographer of Osimo, Italy called this a 'Strange set of clouds."

It is an odd picture.

The clouds behind the 'dark funnel' is indicative of turburlent air masses. The fact a translucent funnel cloud might have developed isn't out of the question. I wasn't there to not the rotation. However, I think a more feasible explanation is a shadow from above the clouds. What could cast such a shadow that large? A high flying plane such as a stealth bomber. If this picture was taken at noon time the shadow a high altitude bomber or 'wing' would cast would be sizeable.

If you find it hard to believe: put your hand on a light colored wall with a light source eliminating that wall. Then move your hand away from the wall with the light source behind it. The shadow growns in size and less clairity. I think that is what that is except for the fact the clouds of the shadow interrupt the sunlit opening of the cloud bank.

The 'shadow cloud' has sharp angles and raises lots of questions for me. However, the clouds other than the shadow is just as ominous as any funnel cloud.
