My meticulous mind hero.

He is the second person in the back row looking at it from the left. He was real for eighty years of life in this great country. He applied himself to opportunity and rose out of the abject poverty of the Pennsylvania anthracite coal mines.

My grandfather told his son, “You will not live a life as I have.”

(The picture is from a very old newspaper article. It isn’t perfect, but, then my Dad wasn’t the one taking it.)

My father was the pitcher. His daughter, my youngest sister, went on to pitch, but, her best position was behind home plate as catcher. In the winter she played ice hockey as the goalie.
