“I would be very, very careful in not underestimating the impact of 13 years of war, on an all-volunteer force.  I think we were seeing, in those [high] suicide numbers, some of the effect of high stress and trauma,” Gen. Chiarelli says in the documentary, recalling his service as the number two ranking officer assigned to suicide prevention.  “This is an area that we, in fact, have to attack.”

Where are we as a nation, if we allow a private gun advocate to dictate the outcomes of our military personnel? That is an assault on sovereignty. The statements by this now retired General goes unheard and unheeded. Our sovereignty is more important than any firearms sales. Why volunteer to the military if the outcome is suicide?

The demand those at risk for suicide to remove firearms from their possession is STANDARD for any treatment of these people. Ask any private practicing psychiatrist if she or he recommends and demands firearms be removed from the homes of their patients. Go, ahead, ask. This is a no brainer, everyone. And to think there was a purchase after diagnosis only proves the USA has absolutely no control over it's domestic violence.
