Investors (click here) are more worried than ever that market volatility means a downturn is on the horizon, and are looking for ways to protect their money, according to Allianz Life's most recent quarterly market perceptions survey. 

Nearly half of those surveyed said they fear a major recession, marking a troublesome uptick in worried responses from both the first quarter of 2019 and last year. Investors also said they are less comfortable with current market conditions as volatility has risen, and are looking for ways to hedge against risk.

The survey was conducted online in May, and recorded responses from 1,006 individuals over the age of 18....

6.2 percent is more than good growth, however, the trend provides the picture of a slow slide. That is most likely a managed slide than the actual decline.

China's economy (click here) has grown at its slowest pace in the past 27 years after the effects of President Donald Trump's trade war outweighed the Chinese government's efforts to stimulate the economy.

The economy grew by 6.2% in the second quarter, a drop from 6.4% in the first quarter and 6.6% in all of 2018, according to China's National Bureau of Statistics.

"There's no doubt in anyone's minds that the trade war is a major contributing factor here, especially coming at a time when the economy was already in the midst of a slowdown," the online foreign-exchange broker Oanda said....
