Schumer (click here) said parents should beware of any Halloween product that is made in China, as all of the makeups tested had at least one risky chemical in them, like lead or nickel.

“These toxic ingredients can make a child sick, but they’re never listed on the package”, Schumer pointed out, holding up makeup palettes by Rubie’s Costume Company, Wet N’ Wild Fantasy Makers, and Fun World as examples of potentially risky products.
“In testing… 100% of the Chinese imports had one of the bad substances in it. So the best thing consumers can do is avoid anything made in China”, Schumer said.
According to a report conducted by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, 10 out of 10 face paints tested for heavy metals contained lead, and six out of the 10 face paints tested contained nickel, cobalt and/or chromium.
He says parents should check what glitter, lipstick and other cosmetics go on their children’s faces this Halloween.
While lead is banned from makeup in Canada and Europe, it is not banned from makeup sold in the U.S.
“The U.S.is simply not doing enough to protect our children from these harmful ingredients – and that’s a scary thought”, Schumer said.
