In order to oppose what Connecticut did with gun laws, one actually has to believe more guns solve the nation's problem.

Do a majority of citizens believe more guns are better for the nation? This editorial is from The Plains Dealer in Ohio.

...It was an instructive moment.
Sensible gun laws that protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners while aiding public safety are possible. Political compromise can be accomplished. Incremental change is not only achievable but also desirable....

At the foundation of any ideology about gun ownership lies the fear the government will become oppressive and remove rights from citizens. One has to ask if that is a reasonable objection to gun control and the real possibility any gun on Earth can stop the USA military.
Such irrational statements provide at the very least dangerous venues for women and children.
This is a man worried about the well being of women. I found that fact interesting all by itself.

It will come as no surprise to most people that men commit homicide 10 times as often as women. Their victims are often women. Two thirds of women killed by spouses are killed with guns. Firearm assaults on female family members and intimate acquaintances are approximately 12 times more likely to result in death than are assaults using other weapons. This is not some minor secondary issue. It is the heart of the matter — a form of chronic and pervasive domestic terrorism. It is impossible to claim to address gun violence in America while failing to address domestic violence against women....
