Everyone with an ounce of ambition will be running for the Republican nomination in NC.

One-term incumbent Democrat Kay Hagan was elected with 53% of the vote in 2008. She will be 61 years old in 2014 and intends to seek re-election.

McHenry is already a US Congressman, but, considering he has touted the economic improvements in NC as funding for community colleges puts him at a disadvantage. The Governor is cutting funding to these schools. So, I wouldn't call him in step with the new extremist regime in Raleigh.

Polling published by Public Policy Polling February 12, 2012, showed Hagan leading Congressman Patrick McHenry (click here) by 45% to 40%,

Congressman McHenry (click here) has succesfully helped increase federal investment in Western North Carolina's community college system.  Vocational training programs help enhance workers' skills and marketability. A well-trained and well-educated workforce will help attract new businesses and jobs to Western North Carolina.

State Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry (click here) by 46% to 38%, You'll see her face on every elevator in the state of NC. The inspection certificate features her on it. So, there is name recognition here.

Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives Thom Tillis (click here) by 46% to 38%,

Tillis twice introduced "Right to Work" legislation this session to the NC legislature. North Carolina doesn't have unions.

Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (click here) by 47% to 38%

She is a Tea Party member and considered one of the scariest new members of the US House. She is an extremist on everything from abortion to contraception to religion.

Meet Renee Ellmers: (click here) Cracking down on Monarchy and Mosques

Tea Party activist Renee Ellmers defeated Democratic Rep. Bob Etheridge by less than 1% of the vote in North Carolina's second district.
A self-declared "product of the tea party," Ellmers ran on an anti-health care and anti-stimulus platform: she compared President Obama to "Louis XIV, the Sun King" and asserted that his administration is establishing "a socialistic form of government." She blasted Democrats for their "imperial ruling class attitude," and referred to the economic stimulus plan as "massive government takeovers of the economy."
Ellmers believes that Obama puts the country at risk because he supposedly refuses "to recognize – and tell the American people – [that] he understands radical Islamic terrorism does exist." She also launched an ugly and bigoted campaign ad equating all Muslims with the 9/11 terrorists, [] arguing that the planned Islamic Community Center in Lower Manhattan is a "victory mosque" and a symbol of Muslim conquest:...

Virginia Foxx is a disaster. She is extreme on every aspect of legislation. In her defense, however, she did get the "SKILLS ACT" authored and passed through the US House by a narrow margin. So, she isn't exactly just taking up space.

Congresswoman Virginia Foxx by 48% to 38%,

LETTERS / My Impression of Virginia Foxx’s Role at Watauga GOP Convention (click here)
Mrs. Foxx:
Your appearance and statements to the Watauga GOP convention and individuals were indicative of a tyrant.
Truthfully, you interfered with and suppressed the normal, true democratic process as stipulated by representative guidelines, as well as the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
There is no doubt that you, Mrs. Foxx, and primarily the urban Republican leadership and prominent members agreed to a predetermined set of new officers, agenda items, and resolutions, which again, sacrificed and ignored your main support base, the rural areas.
From your statements, your idea of a political organization is for that group to have absolutely no room for disagreement or any fair and democratic process that would challenge the status quo....
The only voting Holding has done is on Appropriations and the House Budget. I doubt he will be taken seriously as a challenger.

Congressman George Holding by 46% to 36%, (click here)

For the most part is likes to limit government.
