North and Western Hemisphere Enhanced Infrared Satellite (click on to animate)

This is the Enhanced Infrared Satellite 12 hours ago.

Noted there are three vortices below the circulating air mass from the North Pole. In the animated satellite picture it is easily discerned the moisture that composes the snow storms of the northeast continent has come off the equator. The moisture from the tropics mixed with the frigid aire from the Arctic Circle and percipitated out as snow. A lot it.
