Case in point. The damage done by the Bush Administration and its aggressive Rumsfeld/Cheney agenda of global domination.

The issue of selling the missiles to Syria was raised during the talks with U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

Did Bush make the USA safer?

No.

Secretary Gates took over an aggresive global agenda from Don Rumsfeld in 2006.  December 18, 2006.  Just before Christmas if that makes a difference.

I never envied his job post Rumsfeld and here is some of the aftermath of a Neocon determined to bring the global community under his thumb.

The contract Syria made with Russia was in 2007.  Three years ago.  There was dearly little to anything Secretary Gates could do to stop it.  Upping the 'ante' was all part of the justification of Bush and Cheney to increase the dominance of the USA.  Disarming was not in Bush's dogma.  He didn't understand the defintion of disarmament.  If one recalls he trashed the ABM Treaty.

So, what does a Robert Gates do about alliances that were taking place out of the need to secure their nations from a very aggressive and ambitious USA that wanted to rob the world of its natural resources to fuel the treasuries of companies such as Halliburton?

What Gates position was in 2007 with Bush as President was to maintain maximum readiness while concentrating on Iraq and its 'staging' to elections, etc.

When it came to promoting peace there was no 'path' to success.  So, nations such as Syria which BORDERED Iraq was not about to be caught unprepared to protect its borders and rightfully so.  I am sure the 'finger pointing' by Rumsfeld at porous borders with Syria raised the ante all that much more.

So now, three years later, Syria is looking at a very different set of dynamics.  The USA is no longer engaged in battle and aggression in Iraq, we are concentrating on an insurgency in Afghanistan and the USA is no longer waving its finger at Syria about porous borders.

So, Russia is faced with living up to its contracts or BY CHANCE reconsidering such contracts to promote the Middle East Peace Process.  Will Secretary Gates and Secretary Clinton be able to deliver security to Syria, to provide confidence to allow that nation to step away from such a contract?

Perhaps.  But, there is a dynamics in the Middle East that cannot be denied.  Increasing the 'hardware of war' has been on the agenda and after all we just began the process of settling a huge contract with Saudi Arabia ourselves.

I believe there is an opportunity to bring down the 'armament' tone of the Middle East, but, to be realistic 'at this point' the sincerely open path to all parties is to achieve a sense of security of nations and assess the 'likelihood' of those nations to actually use those weapons in aggression rather than defense.

To say the USA has a difficult 'path to peace' with all these nations is an understatement, but, to also realize it is proceeding and there is definately progress being made.  Not minor progress, but, sincere and measurable progress that seems like a 'relief' to Palestine as well as Israel.

The 'balance' to the Middle East has to be established and it means making these nations realize the brevity to their decisions in purchasing such weapons, the brevity of spending monies on weapons rather than on their people and the brevity of going to war.

The USA will never abandon Israel and 'in that' is the reality that Syria will have a good deal of trouble in stockpiling such weapons and placing itself at the center of a 'target' for even housing such weapons.

The decision of 'arming a nation' has its own brevity and it is best all nations in the Middle East take it seriously and realize this is not a decision to make without its consequences.

I do not see why this 'contract' that was entered into under the umbrella of fear by the Bush White House cannot still be rethought, but, if it should go forward I do not see why it will ever be an impediment to peace.  After all, Taiwan now has a productive relationship with China (which has nuclear weapons) and they never gave up their defense posture nor ever stopped protecting its people.

I do believe Secretary Clinton needs to get on with drawing up the ultimate contract and that is the one that will make all these armaments in the Middle East seeem completely silly.

Redefining power. Up to now, after eight years of self inflicted helplessness under "W" is OPPRESSION.

The MICRO - particulates will kill people.  They will claim STATES rights.  But, the Clean Air Act preempts the emmission issue.  IT IS NOT clean energy.  The Clean Air Act will require the ceasation of emissions as soon as 'THE WIND' carries the pollution over the state line.

FirstEnergy cleared for $200m Ohio biomass project

Published: August 18, 2010
...The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has certified the 156-megawatt units at the Shadyside facility as eligible as renewable energy generators under state law.

The move means that any power generated by the power plant using biomass fuels can be classed as renewable energy under the state’s renewable energy credits system of incentives.
It would be eligible for up to 75MW of renewable energy credits from the project, more if the facility uses less than 20% coal and fuel oil....

I used to review Mike's blog on a regular basis over the years and maybe I need to do that again.  The review usually spoke for itself and all I needed to do was list the articles and briefly comment.  As of late, Michael Moore is becoming more 'Main Stream' than not and his work in Michigan has huge dynamics.  He literally revitalized Traverse City AND the region by introducing 'art' and 'film art' to a nearly extinct part of Michigan.  Northern Michigan was not only deteriorated and abandoned, but, down right primative.
Recently, Traverse City defeated the building of four Biomass Plansts that would have dumped tonnes and tonnes of deadly toxins in to a NEW TOURIST rich region that also hosts one of the most prestigious arts high schools on the planet.

Even though these sets of biomass plants are shelved and the city is seeking alternative energies and other methods of energy the sad truth about these plants are only beginning in the USA.  I could go on and on about Adenocarcomas and how they are the "Non-Smoker" lung cancer that result from deadly and tiny particles from biomass plants and coal plants, but, that would take some space and this isn't about 'conservation or energy.'  It is however, about the people of Michigan and the 'kindly' manner they have fostered within their culture to absorb disappointment and allow abuse of power.

I haven't read Ms. Huffington's book yet, but, I am hoping her "Third World America" has captured this exact phenomena in a real way.  Abuse of Power is real.  It causes oppression and we have witnessed it globally.  When populous of citizens are helpless to change their circumstances they don't 'retreat' but they do 'resign.'  They resign to being 'correct' and 'know the truth' and 'bond together' and 'hunker down at the local pub' to civilly talk about how lousy life actually is and how this was never explained to them as they sacrificed and toiled all their lives.

There are issues with Americans.  They have had thirty years or more years of Republican Oppression intermitently interrupted by a Democratic President that would set their circumstances straight.  To make the USA an honest and better place.  To revitalize THE TRUTH as the doctrine of the USA Constitution and take seriously 'the promise' so easily trashed by the Republicans Capitalistic Focus and Indulgence.

There are millions of 'resigned' Americans within its borders.  The African American Community of the USA doesn't know what it is to be resigned, for if they did, they would never be allowed to be successful.

The USA needs to be 'disturbed' enough to save itself anymore 'blows to their freedoms' by idiots we are now witnessing mentored by flunkies like Palin, Gingrich and Murdoch.  Of the three, the only one that has managed to maintain their status for a lifetime is Murdoch.  Palin lost her Governorship to obsession of wealth and Gingrich was drummed out of the 'corp of Republicans' by making a 'contract with America' that turned out to be a 'bogus' PLEDGE.

You can call it 'draining the swamp' if you want, but, what is occurring in the USA is 'resignation of hope.'  The people of this country need to find their anger is a way that is productive and achieves purpose.  They need to fight the fires of hatred, even though they don't recognize it as hatred.

I frequently state, "President Obama sincerely loves us."  That means he takes himself and us seriously enough to seek out people like Elizabeth Warren to 'Fight the Good Fight."  He can't do it alone.  The 'Spirit of 1776" has to be revitalized even when sports heroes are wrongly ruled on.  Believe me the Tea Bagger have no idea what the Founding Father's Spirit is all about, they only know the one that Murdoch dictates and it doesn't even come close.

Get up and fight America, but, do it with an understanding that you've been 'beaten and abused' into an emotional corner that 'feels good' but has no real substance to sustain life in a democracy.

Those that demonstrated for peace under Bush know what the word oppression means when they faced snippers on rooftops while they were marching in a PERMITTED event.  They wore all their costumes and carried signs that would humilitate.  We are now today out of Iraq and will be leaving Afghansitan.  They were far from a failutre.

...But maybe the Bears game wouldn't be so bad had (click title to entry - thank you)  not Armando Galarraga of the Detroit Tigers also had his perfect game ripped from him by an umpire back in June. Not only did he throw a perfect game (not a single batter made it to first base in 8 2/3 innings, a virtually impossible feat), but he also got the last out of the game by running over to first base himself to touch the bag in plenty of time before the runner got there.
There have only been 20 perfect games in the history of baseball. The 21st, by this umpire's own admission after the game, was stolen from Galarraga because of his bad call.
Neither call, in baseball or football, was reversed. And neither Detroiter asked for it to be. Galarraga and Johnson took their abuse with such good grace and forgiveness, it set an example that all of us wished we could see in sports every week. People were amazed not to witness any Motor City madmen action -- only humility and kindness.
Well, I'm from Flint, so I ain't all that forgiving. That these two huge blown calls could happen in the same summer to a town already so badly battered just sucks. I'm not saying that umps and refs have it out for Detroit. But ask yourself this: Do you think two blown calls on huge historic plays in one summer would be allowed without any howl or cry if they happened to two teams in New York? You know the answer....

Things are getting very silly when it comes to the Climate Crisis.

California Braces for Showdown on Emissions  (click title to entry - thank you)
By ADAM NAGOURNEY

LOS ANGELES — A ballot initiative to suspend a milestone California law curbing greenhouse gas emissions is drawing a wave of contributions from out-of-state oil companies, raising concerns among conservationists as it emerges as a test of public support for potentially costly environmental measures during tough economic times.

Charles and David Koch, the billionaires from Kansas who have played a prominent role in financing the Tea Party movement, donated $1 million to the campaign to suspend the Global Warming Solutions Act, which was passed four years ago,...

There was a 2007 Decision by the USA Supreme Court mandating the EPA was to rule in the regulation of Greenhouse Gases.  This 'action' in California is empty and unconstitutional.  It won't survive the first court challenge.  It is nothing but an election stunt as far as I am concerned.

I mean California was one of many states that sued the EPA under the Bush Administration that brought about the ruling in the first place.  This is a hideous petition and simply carries no brevity except for political rhetoric.  And the Koch 'addicts' are spending a million US on a campaign initiative, but, what else is new?

There is another article in the NY Times about tornadoes hitting the city.  Think 'HEAT SINK.'
What is a 'heat sink' and why are major metropolitan areas being struck by tornadoes?
A few years ago I was tracking a 'system' on radar and I could not believe what I saw.  As the system came closer to St. Louis, Missouri it was picking up vorticity (velocity).  The closer it got to the city the more danger there was and before much longer there were tornadoes warnings.  When I looked at the newspapers in regard to the 'aftermath' there was significant damage done to St. Matthew's church.  Of course, I blogged about it and to some it would seem as though God was speaking loud and clear.

Supreme Court: EPA must address climate risk
The high court's 5-to-4 ruling Monday rejects the White House's view and hands environmentalists a major victory.
By Warren Richey, Staff Writer, Brad Knickerbocker, Staff Writer / April 3, 2007
WASHINGTON AND ASHLAND, ORE.
The Environmental Protection Agency must take action to assess the environmental perils of global warming.
In a major victory for environmentalists, the US Supreme Court on Monday rejected the Bush administration's view that the EPA has discretion to decide when and how to best respond to international environmental threats. The vote was 5 to 4.
Instead, the high court said laws passed by Congress to protect the environment require the EPA to swing into action to assess environmental threats that jeopardize human health and safety.
"Under the clear terms of the Clean Air Act, EPA can avoid taking further action only if it determines that greenhouse gases do not contribute to climate change or if it provides some reasonable explanation," writes Justice John Paul Stevens for the majority. He says the agency had offered no reasonable explanation to avoid the clear instructions of the Clean Air Act.
"This is the congressional design," Justice Stevens writes. "EPA has refused to comply with this clear statutory command." Joining Stevens in the majority were Justices Anthony Kennedy, David Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Stephen Breyer....

BUT, there would be more of these 'city tornado episodes.'   There was one that struck a CNN studio and did a lot of damage.  It was all over the media and people were astounded by the force of what most people would term 'a strong storm.'  There would be a growing number of these 'incidents' which includes stadiums and the 'weather broadcasters' were calling them 'down blasts.'  Another name for a low level tornado of short duration.

In recent history New York City has experienced tornadoes.  I believe it was last year or the year before an F1 touched down doing a fair amount of damage to a community.

So am I surprised that while it seems 'more logical' to have 'tornado touchdowns' closer to Eastern Lake Ontario than NYC, the answer is "No."

Why?  I really think nearly anyone that understands the Climate Crisis began with Human Induced Global WARMING , will 'figure out' what a 'heat sink' is and why they are FUELING their own destructive storms.

Will they get worse?  Yes.  But, they will become more frequent before they get worse.  Or.  Will they?

If the cities are 'unsure' what to do with this phenomena, the white roofs will help, but, they need regular cleaning.  Also, one might recall an interest in a "Paris" design modeled after the "Hanging Gardens of Babylon."

What was that?  Let's see.

If you haven't run across Blanc's work before, prepare to be wowed. He's the creator of Le Mur Vegetal -- the remarkable "vertical gardens" that now adorn the exterior walls of buildings in Paris, Manhattan, Bangkok, and other cities. One notable example is the Musée du quai Branly in Paris (photo © goodduckling @ Flickr):

It is no substitution for healthy forests, but, it will soak up some carbon dioxide and anything 'green' will bring temperatures down.  Try walking across a street and then across a lawn.  Notice two things.  The level of noise caused by your feet and the temperature difference.

Below is the Massachusetts ruling that send same ot the Supreme Court.

While the court recognized the validity behind the science as opposed to the politics of the Bush White House.  One other thing.  Now that we know the Brisith scientists were victimized and the opposition that grew around the invasion of privacy of a professor's email is bogus, what happened to the investigation that would find and convict those that broke into the British university website?

...1. Petitioners have standing to challenge the EPA’s denial of their rulemaking petition. Pp. 12–23.
(a) This case suffers from none of the defects that would preclude it from being a justiciable Article III “Controvers[y].” See, e.g., Luther v. Borden, 7 How. 1. Moreover, the proper construction of a congressional statute is an eminently suitable question for federal-court resolution, and Congress has authorized precisely this type of challenge to EPA action,...

The OLD Republican is back in young, new faces.

When George H. W. Bush lost the election to Bill Clinton it was due to the economy.  H. W. was known for his 'Big Tent' philosophy with 'trickle down' economics.  I remember the post-mortem on the race and I am trying to remember the journalist and I want to say it was Brit Hume.  But, no matter, the analysis went like this, "...no matter how big Bush made the tent, there wasn't enough money to go around for everyone...".

It has been many, many years since I have heard the words, imperialism, ideologue, "Strave the Beast" and "Big Tent Agenda."  They were words I never needed to know and they are once again haunting us.

The first time the word Ideologue became a 'kitchen table' item was when it was introduced by Maureen Dowd.  I don't recall the Op-ed, but, I once read her everyday until she went 'Red instead of Dead' during the Bush/Cheney White House.  But, there is an interesting section in her book, "Bushworld: Enter at Your Own Risk" that is appropriate for this 'REPEAT' of history.

..."The Bush I moderates are worried the Bush II ideologues will use terrorism as an alibi for imperialism.  Bush II thinks Bush I is trapped in self-justification.... (click here)

The words "Big Tent" came down from Karl Rove.  I could not believe my ears.  See, Rove sculpted Bush II, but, he did more than sculpt him, he mentored him as a roady pander's to a rock star and enables everything unthinkable.

Scary.  Here I was 18 years after the defeat of Bush I and hearing words that were in critique at the burial of that administration.

Then out of nowhere came the extremism of the years gone by.  I think it was Gingrich that attempted to 'defund' the government under Clinton and didn't succeed to do anything except prove the Republicans were inept.  But, what does Gingrich have to do with today?  Besides selling his soul to the Tea Devil the Alaskan Republican Miller stated, he would defund the government in order to stop the entitlements, etc., etc., etc.  In other words, he no different than Bush II believed more than ever in 'Starve the Beast' economic agendas.

That was a different Op-Ed and not Maureen Dowd, it was Paul Krugman whom has since received the Nobel for Economics.

The year was 2003 and we were all scratching our heads to understand what 'in the hell' was Bush and Cheney up to because none of their economic decisions made sense.  The Republicans were supporting the USA economy through 'spending' bills one right after another and we all knew this couldn't go on forever.

See, Bush II was terrified of repeating the legacy of Bush I.  He was scared to death of only serving for one term, so to fund the economy by government legislation, now that in 2002 the Republicans had a two house majority, would insure him 'no static' regarding his inability to foster an economy.  By that time we were also engaged in two wars.  Or at least it was stated we were at war on two fronts, when in fact the war in Afghanistan against al Qaeda was diverted to Iraq.

3. Supply-Siders, Starve-the-Beasters and Lucky Duckies (click here)

...It is often hard to pin down what antitax crusaders are trying to achieve. The reason is not, or not only, that they are disingenuous about their motives -- though as we will see, disingenuity has become a hallmark of the movement in recent years. Rather, the fuzziness comes from the fact that today's antitax movement moves back and forth between two doctrines. Both doctrines favor the same thing: big tax cuts for people with high incomes. But they favor it for different reasons.
One of those doctrines has become famous under the name ''supply-side economics.'' It's the view that the government can cut taxes without severe cuts in public spending. The other doctrine is often referred to as ''starving the beast,'' a phrase coined by David Stockman, Ronald Reagan's budget director. It's the view that taxes should be cut precisely in order to force severe cuts in public spending. Supply-side economics is the friendly, attractive face of the tax-cut movement. But starve-the-beast is where the power lies....

Professor Krugman years later would write still another Op-Ed entitled, "Now that the Beast is Starved."  Or something close to that.

I've heard it all before.  It is not NEW.  Is the same old Republican game pumped out by new faces and names.

See, Palin isn't very bright in the way Governors and 'innovators' of economies are bright, but, she is a lot like 'the Bushes' in that she is a binary decision maker.  Easy stuff.  Everything is 'right or "W"rong' with no 'grey.'  Literally.  I think the oldest of the Tea Baggers is something like 43 years old.

But, this crowd is different in that they really don't 'get it.'  What they do 'get' is Social Conservatism.  That is their expertise no different than Bush II.  And don't tell me the Bushes know anything about economics.  They don't.  Just like Cheney they bankrupt companies and Savings and Loan banks while bank rolling personal fortunes and laughing at the 'under dogs' left to pick up the pieces.

The reason the Tea Bagger candidates 'seem' competent is because they 'talk the talk' of Old World Republicans as social conservatives.  The only thing Palin has been able to provide to these candidates is "The Pro Life Movement."  They drive her money machine and seek to make her a star.  All these so called NEW Republicans, sorry Tea Baggers, aren't really new.  They are as old as the hills and will seek old strategies that will never work and they will fall flat on their face while scratching their heads in wondering whether they will be elected in the next term.  Which by the way will radicalize them all the more to attempt to push through a Pro Life (Anti-Abortion) Agenda.

It is a sorry game the Republicans are left with in order to call themselves a Party.  There was never anything effective about them in the first place.  There won't be anything effective about them now.

...Democrat Scott McAdams and Republican, Tea Party candidate Joe Miller (click title to entry - thank you) held their first formal debate Thursday before the Juneau Chamber of Commerce.   And McAdams came out on the attack.  During his opening remarks, he read from a national pledge by the Citizen’s Council Against Government Waste that he said Miller signed promising he would not seek earmarks that would serve only local needs.  But McAdams argued that the pledge wasn’t good for Alaska....

Bush II's favorite word was "VOW."  The Tea Baggers like to "PLEDGE."  Has nothing to do with dusting or waxing the furniture either.  Words are their fantasy, but, actions are their error.

It is interesting how a 'generation' goes by and the old ghosts rise again.

The Democrats have done an excellant job with the economy and jobs.

Unemployment has stabilized and there is greater consumer confidence.  I think the Democrats have done a great job at saving what was left of the USA after the Bush/Cheney administration and the abandonment of the country by Wall Street.

It's happening.

...WE HAVE LONG SAID THE economy will show fresh signs of life in the final months of the year, with the primary source of this vigor coming from consumers. Tuesday, we got fresh evidence that such a rebound is underway.
Both the August retail sales and the weekly tally on chain-store sales by the International Council of Shopping Centers were bullish. These reports, along with some others that have been underreported by the media, tell us the U.S. economy is in a much better place than it was a few months ago. Don't be surprised if forecasters start to revise their gross domestic-product numbers upwards and closer to our projections. We're looking at GDP growth of 3% in the fourth quarter, and 3.5% on average for all of next year. Most forecasters are for the moment content to project half that pace. But we believe the erasers will soon come out....

Consumers Defy Spending Expectations
Posted: 08/30/10
The faltering economic recovery received a modest shot in the arm last month as consumer spending increased by 0.4%, the best reading since March. Personal income in July managed a small rise of 0.2%, knocking the savings rate from 6.2% in June to 5.9% in July.
In the meantime, the Personal Consumption Expenditures Index, which is a broad look at prices, rose 0.2%, translating into an inflation-adjusted rise in spending of 0.2%. Ex-food and energy, prices rose a scant 0.1%, underscoring that inflation is not a threat at the present time....

The American consumer is the way to recover this economy.  The nation can do it without Wall Street.  Local economies can provide for their citizens and 'in turn' regional improvements can be realized.

Steady as it goes.

Work on the deficit.

Good job everyone.  It is nice to have people in office that actually love the country and love the American people.

Nice.

Wall Street is attempting to undermine the First Lady's "health campaign."

It is 'Corporate Speech' at work, again!

High Fructose Corn Syrup is now being 'renamed' by Wall Street to be caleed "Corn Sugar.'

It is a deceptive practice, it is an obvert attempt to diseffect the USA government and the citizens of the USA.  As far as I am concerned it is deception in advertising.

Consumer Disdain, Negative Press Can Lead Marketers to Rename Foods

If you're the industry demonized as a driver of the obesity epidemic, image gurus might tell you it's time for a makeover -- starting with a new name.

Manufacturers of high fructose corn syrup are doing just that. This week, they petitioned the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to be allowed to use the alternative name "corn sugar."
You can find high fructose corn syrup on the labels of baked goods, cereals, jams, soft drinks, sauces, condiments and ice creams -- one of the foods to which it provides bulk. The Corn Refiners Association, which also makes ethanol, starch, corn oil and corn-based animal feed, feels its sweetener is misunderstood....

Trace Amounts of Mercury Found in High Fructose Corn Syrup

Star Tribune

A test of popular processed foods from some of the biggest names in the industry found trace amounts of mercury, according to the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, a nonprofit group based in Minneapolis.
The amounts of mercury found was far less than that commonly seen in most fish and seafood, but turned up in many foods not previously known to be sources of mercury, including many preferred by children, the group said. It includes Nutri-Grain Strawberry Cereal Bars, Quaker Oatmeal to go bars, Hershey's Chocolate Syrup, Yoplait Strawberry yogurt, Market Pantry Grape Jelly and Coca-Cola, it said....

Is the Anti-Establishment 'wave' in the USA actually Anti-Incumbant due to 'exposure' of extremists.

To make myself more clear.  Incumbants were doing well 'enough' during the time they were home and campaigning, but, as soon as they returned to Washington, DC and were 'on the job' their poll numbers started to drop in small increments.

The extremist candidates ALL have the same story.  Even Brown in Massachusetts says the same thing, "Face to Face" contact with voters made the difference in their candidacy.

The people being elected, like Brown, are the best people to be in office.  They let their backbone slip to 'pander' to the voter.  They have no 'real ideas' so much as they allow themselves to be lead around by the nose.

The point is, most of the extremist candidates do not have a voting record regardless of their 'repeated' attempts at being in office.  They can lie all they want and so long as they retract their lies 'in time' they can cover their tracks.  They frequently lie to 'introduce' paranoia into the electorare.  To retract the statement later is simply an expression of 'character' and a 'statement of being human and capable of error' no different than the electorate.  I have witnessed this strategy before with "Talk Radio."  They introduce a lie and then retract it when they are 'caught.'  They don't care about facts, they care about 'exposure.'  The extremist candidates are using the same 'media savvy methodology' to 'entertain voters.'

O'Donnell is the second candidate that I know of, that the Republicans promoted with a media history.  Brown was the first.  His spouse is a reporter on the television and has the experience to coach him.

The Republicans are running dishonest campaigns including that of Murkowski.  They are seeking to place their defeated incumbants into 'third party' candidacies knowoing they won't win in order to syphon off votes from the Democrats.  Murkowski is the second incumbant we have seen that with and Crist is the first.  Incumbants do carry clout with the electoate and convincing the voter they are better off thinking about the two Party candidates is a better way of approaching it.

If I were running for office today, I would have surrogates 'on the ground' in my districts and states canvassing the electorate no different than the candidate would but can't because they are doing their job in DC.   I would run against the Republican candidate and NOT the 'independant or libertarian.'  In Florida, Meek needs to run against Rubio and not Crist.  This is NOT a Democratic primary.  I would also demand equal time by the media whenever the opposition from any party appeared in the media.

I would show the voter I cared about them more than anyone else and 'be available' for campaigning 'as the opportunity' presented itself to be known as the best qualified candidate and the one that could provide their best opportunity in DC.

This election isn't as much Anti-Establishment as it is about exposure.  Face - to - Face contact.  Door to Door.  I don't believe the electioneering has changed all that much, it is just that we are living in an age of 'the individual' and having a Facebook site or any social media site is important, but, it 'isn't all that' when it comes to influencing the voter on election day.  Contact with the electorate at every turn is what this is about.  Both Brown and O'Donnell are well honed to 'striving' for attention and have histories of 'performing' in difficult races.  I would concentrate on those dynamics before I would simply say it was the Democratic incumbant that was the issue.  That isn't all of it in my opinion.

This is also the year of the 'homophobic voter.'  If DC isn't stopped soon they have lost their identity.  Homophobia is real in the USA and everyone needs to count on that being an issue.  The extremists are homophobic themselves, so their plight with 'this voter' is over.

The extremist candidates have a 'rant.'  It is more than a stump speech, it is a rant that they 'exhibit' when being interviewed or in debates.  I'd pay attention to it and rehearse it and incorporate a 'reasonable' amount of the dogma into a campaign rant myself.

Debates up to election day is an excellant idea.  McCain won votes just before his primary from the 'last minute' debate on television.  We know for a fact that 'reasonable' candidates 'pick up votes' immesediately after a debate and before the opposition can lie and rant again.  Usually 2 to 3 points at least.  I would not shy away from 'last minute' debates.  As a matter of factif I were an incumbant, I would demand them.

Good luck.

Bermuda Premier Brown cancels D.C. trip as Hurricane Igor nears (click title to entry - thank you)

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — Bermuda Premier Ewart Brown on Wednesday decided to cancel his scheduled trip to Washington, D.C. to monitor the process of Hurricane Igor, which is on a direct path with the British overseas territory.
Brown was scheduled to host a Student Luncheon Reception for Bermudian students in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, but canceled the trip citing concern regarding Hurricane Igor. He was also expected to sign an agreement.
“Over the next few days, I had planned to attend the signing of the Howard University and Bermuda Collaboration Agreement and the events associated with the Congressional Black Caucus weekend in Washington, D.C.,” Brown said. “In light of the potential threat posed by Hurricane Igor, I have decided to cancel this trip.”
“Our government is monitoring Hurricane Igor closely and intends to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of our people,” Brown added.
Large and powerful hurricane Igor is currently located about 1635 kilometers (1015 miles) southeast of Bermuda, and will likely start to affect the island on Sunday as a category 1 or 2 storm.

This troposphere is unprecedented.  There has NEVER been two Category 4 storms moving in unison across the Atlantic Ocean before.

The people trying to change the subject of this unprecedented season of 'twin storms' in the Atlantic by citing the year 2000 as the same as this troposphere are grossly incorrect.  The year of 2000 had two category four storms that existed for three days, one in the Caribbean and one in the Atlantic.  THIS  IS  GROSSLY  DIFFERENT !  End of discussion.

These two storms are completely in unison as they cross the Atlantic and they are maintaining their 'latitude' for days now.

Year of 2000 link:  http://weather.unisys.com/hurricane/atlantic/2000H/index.html

It is one week out from the beginning of Igor and it has moved 6.4 degrees north.  It is three days and six hours since the beginnings of Julia and the storm has only moved 6.5 degrees north.  THESE STORMS ARE TAKING THE SAME TRACK across the Atlantic Ocean and are in syncronized oscillation with each, exchanging heat energy between the two.

Igor manifested at Longitude -25.50 on September 8th.  Julia manifested at Longitude -21.40 on September 12th.  When Julia joined the tropospheric dynamics of the Atlantic Ocean on September 12th, Igor was at Longitude -45.70.  That is a difference in Longitude of 24.30 degrees on September 12, 2010 between these two storms.  Three days have passed since then.  Igor is now at Longitude -55.60 and Julia is at Longitude -33.50.  THAT is a difference of 22.10 degrees between the two storms.  They are in oscillation and CLOSING the gap between them.

They are moving in unison in very close proximity.  The Antilles and the Islands now lie in the line of tragectory of these storms.  I am demanding people in the CURRENT path be notified of potential danger.  This is unprecedented.  It is the SECOND time these storms have manifested together and in oscillation THIS season.  There is sincere and real danger to life from these storms and I insist people know the potential danger as these storms are continuing to be monitored for movement north and away from any danger to life and limb !

I DO NOT WANT another Katrina for ANYONE along the way whereby people were only notified with only 24 hours to take appropriate actions to protect themselves.

There is still another tropical wave of significant size off West Africa yet again that may very well be "Lisa" with "Karl" being the THIRD storm simultaneously existing at the same time, but, the only one currently in the Gulf of Mexico.

Excellent ! Elizabeth Warren is someone to trust with a 'history' of trustworthiness. I think it means I can sleep at night.

It would seem as though President Obama has found his way out of the Bush / Cheney POST occupation maze.

Nice.

Thank you to ABC for the 'early word.'

Exclusive: President Obama to This Week Name (click title to entry - thank you) Elizabeth Warren to Special Advisory Role to White House/Treasury Dept to Form New Consumer Agency

September 15, 2010 5:22 PM

President Obama will announce this week that Elizabeth Warren, the Harvard Law School professor who first proposed the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, will be named to a special position reporting to both him and to the Treasury Department and tasked with heading the effort to get the new federal agency standing, a knowledgeable Democrat told ABC News.
Warren currently chairs the Congressional Oversight Panel of the Troubled Assets Relief Program and has been seen by many on the Left as a force for greater accountability and transparency, and a check against the forces in the Obama administration more closely allied with the financial sector. Many officials in that sector eye her warily as too anti-business....

What part of the tax cuts don't the Republicans understand? The wealthiest Americans were bailed out when their banks were saved. They are irresponsible and need to be accountable to the IRS, now.

Neoteny is an interesting concept the Republicans have mastered as a strategy against Americans.  Who does everyone think were losing money when all the Investment Banks were tanking?  The CEOs.  No.  They weren't alone.

The wealthiest Americans that are SUPPOSE to create jobs with all their tax cuts received a bailout along with their investment banks.

Wealthy Americans includes the CEOs of the Investement Banks.  They include people like Paulson and Bush.  So, where did they go after their investment banks were bailed out by the American people.  And I don't want to hear how the banks have paid back their bailout to the USA Treasury.  Because they left a 'WAKE' behind them that is STILL not addressed and caused the USA a lot of danager to its economy.

Oh, they are around.  They are like circling vultures looking for where the Stimulus dollars are being spent, but, do they feel responsible for their damage to this country?

No way.

After they were bailed out.  The richest Americans took their money and ran.  They disappeared and didn't look back.  If the Middle Class was suffering because they never 'put the economy' back where it belonged after they were bailed out; well that was too bad.

They indulged themselves with their investment banks and took their money to Europe and Asia.  What ever makes Americans believe their wealthiest are simply waiting to see if the Bush tax cuts for them are going to be preserved so they can descend on the poor, the unemployed and the Middle Class to be their savior for the monies they were 'granted' when they should not have been.

Where are the wealthy investors NOW.  They have had Bush Tax Cuts since the economic collapse of the USA in 2008.  What have they done to increase job growth in this country and where is their patriotic obligation to PUT BACK the economy they crashed after their investment banks 'blew' every dime in their treasuries.

There is something the legislation that provided a bailout to Big Banks neglected to include in its 'repayment plans.'  It forgot to address the TOTAL cost of the bailout.  They forgot that the banks collapsed the USA economy as if they weren't responsible.  When the Investment Banks state they paid their obligations back to the USA, they are completely "W"rong.  The fact of the matter is they haven't even begun to 'put back' the economy their leadership destroyed.

The payments by the banks that received bailout funds need to pay back more then interest they accumulated during the time they had money to 'play' with.  They needed to payback or put back the economy they destroyed as well.

The investment banks and the wealthiest Americans have gotten away with outrageous borrowing and spending that tanked the USA economy and put millions of Americans out of work while filling their corporate and personal coffers.

So.

When it comes to paying off the deficit or 'pandering' to wealthy Americans that will never 'put back' the USA economy after Republicans make fools out of the USA public again in preserving tax cuts for people that could not care less about them; I want hte deficit paid.  At least that will address the future of my children and their children and their tax burden now and later.

I mean; for real here.  How stupid does this get before Americans 'wake up' to reality rather than a Republican Dreamscape?

No more tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.   No way.  They don't deserve 'special treatment' over the future burden of my children and grandchildren.  End of discussion.

Obama: GOP still 'saying no' on tax cut deal  (click titel to entry - thank you)

President Obama blasted Republicans today for insisting that George W. Bush-era tax cuts be extended for wealthy Americans, thereby delaying an agreement to extend them for the middle class.
"Once again, the leaders across the aisle are saying no," Obama said in brief remarks after a Cabinet meeting. "They want to hold these middle-class tax cuts hostage until they get an additional tax cut for the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans."
Extending tax cuts for individuals making more than $200,000 annually -- and couples making more than $250,000 a year -- will add $700 billion to the federal budget deficit, and "we simply can't afford that," Obama said....

We don't 'Knight" people in the USA. So Tony Blair continues to be 'medaled' in the USA.

Has anyone noticed Tony Blair has been hanging around the neighborhood?  He has a new book called, "A Journey."

I was in a waiting room yesterday and happened to catch 'The View" on the television.  I could not believe I had the opportunity to see the entire segment, but, the estalishment's computer system went down the moment I walked in the door.  NO LIE.  So, the TV was on and I listened to the guy.  He is great man.  He really cajoled every question about the Queen and otherwise.  He stated, "My wife said if he ever received a phone call from "The View" simply don't answer."  He a good deal of fun.

But.

He stated something really interesting when he began to speak to his INVOLVEMENT with Bush.  He stated as the President, George was a 'binary' decision maker.  You know, it takes a great deal of patience to deal with a binary decision maker.  Tony needs a medal from one more person, but, it would require him being Catholic.  Sainthood is what I am thinking.  I don't believe Blair is Catholic.

I'm going to purchase his book.  He deserves that level of dignity by Americans.

I believe Tony Blair's 'Journey' is more than interesting.  He had eight years of a nightmare brought on by the corrupt political system in the USA.  He is an elegant speaker and words never escape his dialogue to make wonderful statements in ways that flow with conversation to make a point.

I have long said on this blog that it was Tony Blair we have to thank to bring about sanity in a world that was dominated by hate mongers and a Dick Cheney that was intent on desensitizing the American conscience to a nuclear engagement with another country.  Even Russia.

Tony is a sincere peacemaker and he has taken his expertise to the Middle East and is an intregate part of the movment to settle the region.  It was more than appropriate he received the Libery Medal and the Medal of Freedom.  It was more than appropriate that Former President Bill Clinton would find HIM to place still another medal around his neck.

Granted the USA has a strategic partner in Israel.  That reality does not diminish the diligent work of decades of Presidents and Secretaries of State to bring about peace in the Middle East.  That is the 'character' of our elected government.  We are not people that believe in war.  We do embrace peace and so much so, that a British Prime Minister recognized a 'detour' to that path after an attack by international criminals on USA soil.  Later, it would effect his precious London.

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair is a hero.  It is just that simple.  He is also a dedicated husband and father.  His competency spans his entire 'life journey.'  I am proud to call him a friend to the USA and the Middle East and hope his work finds success under the Obama Administration in the hands of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Steady as it goes, Tony.

President Bush awards Tony Blair Presidential Medal of Freedom

Nico

...President Bush said that when America faced the first great challenge of his Administration, Mr Blair was on hand to offer his assistance.
“He was there a our moment of trial,” the President told a gathering of dignitaries and personal friends of Mr Blair. “At his very centre this man believes in freedom.”
Mr Blair received his medal along with John Howard, the former Australian Prime Minister and Alvaro Uribe, the Colombian President.
The President himself clasped the medals around each man’s neck after a military aide read citations in the leaders’ honour. Before today’s ceremony, President Bush had awarded 78 medals during his tenure in office.

To some extent I have to feel bad for the GOP. They have extremist candidates due to angry Republicans. This is a protest vote.

I love the title of the article.  I feel even worse for the country.  The salary of a Senator is being squandered on a faux agenda for office.  This is terrible.  Shameful even that people are this irrationally angry.  This woman is not prepared for any leadership.  Has anyone noticed that most of the candidates backed by Palin exhibit the same characteristic she exuded as a VP candidate?  Ever notice that?  It is pretty sad stuff ;what a 'jilted' female candidate for VP can do out of revenge and anger.  Seriously.  It is all about money.  There is no legitimate choice for these candidates.  They have no experience and one has to wonder if Christine here knows she can see Russia from Sarah's house.

Sarah's 'money grab' after not being elected and having presented herself as an extremist religious freak and a completely naive woman in attempting a run for VP has turned against her country for personal satisfaction of populism and wealth.  Amazing.  I don't believe Sarah gives a damn about the USA.  She does care a great deal about her own bank accounts though.  I never thought I'd see the day when running for office was a 'toy' to populism.  I always thought the people of the USA would take their government seriously.

Sad.  Christine what's her name here, O'Donnell is not qualified as a candidate for USA Senate in the year 2010.  She just isn't.  She should have more respect for the office than this.

Insurgent Republican Wins in Delaware  (click here)

...Mr. Castle, a moderate Republican who served two terms as governor and has been reliably winning elections for the last four decades, became the latest establishment Republican casualty of the primary election season. Republican leaders said the victory by Ms. O’Donnell complicated the party’s chances of winning control of the Senate....

Not that she isn't going to seriously by the opposition, try to compete and have plenty money thrown behind her candidacy adding polish to a bizarre choice for a USA Senator.

The claim to fame by Ms. O'Donnell is the movement to "Stop Touching Yourself !" while professing poverty as if a vow.

She is a Right Wing Christian Wing Nut and the GOP is sincerely going to pander to her candidacy no different than they did Palin.

This is so sad.  The country really isn't even interested in good government.  A prospective Senator has absolutely no experience in government.  There is every indication she cannot balance a check book.  Does anyone know if she is married?  She's really afraid of touching herself?  Seriously.  This is actually this kind of wacko?  This is not 1776 when people were electing their first government, it is 2010 with a very complicated and compromised global environment.  Wow.  Okay then.

It is going to be interesting to see if other countries actually seek qualifications other than elected office to allow any of these hostile candidates entry and influence to their country.  I just don't see these extremists being accepted in an international community.  It is no different than having an Anti-Semite elected to office.  A homophobic, xenophobic as a USA Senator?  What happens to the Middle East peace process when these idiots actually make it into federal office?  I am worried for the USA.  Sincerely worried.

...Christine O'Donnell, a former marketing consultant who has never held elected office, (click title to entry - thank you) sprinted to prominence in the Delaware race after receiving support from the Tea Party Express and an endorsement from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

But there's been increased scrutiny of O'Donnell's personal financial history, which her opponents say precludes her from effectively overseeing public finances, and complaints about alleged illegal campaign fundraising.
'
O'Donnell has returned fire, saying on CBS' The Early Show" that her opponent, nine-term Congressman Mike Castle, has received the majority of his campaign funds from an "out-of-state corporate special-interest tax."

Attack ads claim O'Donnell didn't receive her college degree for 12 years because of what she owed in outstanding bills to the school, and question unpaid campaign debts from her previous runs for office.
A complaint was also lodged with the Federal Election Commission against O'Donnell, her campaign organization and the Tea Party Express over alleged illegal fundraising activities.

The "Bush Tax Cuts" were draconian from the beginning.

They were never 'funded.'  They drained the surplus and never took into account the 'current nature' of Social Security and Medicare.  It completely disregarded the 'needs' of the elderly in our society.  Never once.  The new perscription drug program could have easily been paid for by the surplus and there would never have been a need for a 'donut hole.'   That has been ended as of next year by the new Health Care Reform Bill that President Obama and the Democratic legislature worked so hard for last year.

But, McConnell showed his disdain for the Middle Class by holding their tax cuts hostage to 'fiscal responsibility' and demanding that tax relief for even the wealthiest citizens should be made permanent.

McConnell's President bankrupt the country and now he has no intention of paying for it, but, simply to continue unfunded tax cuts for the wealthy.

One look at the disproportionate amount of tax cuts for the wealthy and is it any surprise they want to make it permanent, regardless, of the 'fiscal responsibility' they should all be honoring !  Permanent tax cuts aren't even CONSTITUTIONAL.

What do these two women have in common?

They both feeling like victims right now.  Gaga is a woman's advocate from her first huge hit that addressed the 'Burning Bed.'  And Ines Sainz is the latest victim of "The Jock Strap Media."
Ines legally and morally went into the "Jets" locker room to 'land an interview' with the Jets' Quaterback.  She was innocent and quite potentially a virgin although that question has not been asked as if its anyone's business anyway.  She stood without harassing anyone and was approached by a peer to apologize for the 'animal behavior' of BASICALLY natked men.

The Jock Strap media did what it always does to preserve the 'virginity' of men that behave badly, including rapists like Kobe Bryant.  They started attacking Ines for her attire. Well, you'll excuse me, but, the lady has a 'bod' to die for.  She has a Brazilian Butt that women all over the USA pay thousands of dollars to a plastic surgeon to mimic and 'if you got it' and it earns you a paycheck then flaunt it.

The ? men ? that were 'cat calling' to her and provided an embarrassing moment in front of a peer need to focus on 'their game' on the field and not in someone's panties.  The Jets' players were carrying on with 'passes' that would bring the players within short distance of her.  There is NOTHING moral or profession about the behavior of the Jets' players, on or off the field.

Ines may be known for her cleavage, but, she is also now known for her 'lady like' behavior while football players are showing off the ';cracks in their ass' among other things.

This is typical, typical behavior by American media that ALWAYS puts the blame on women and chronically victimizes the victim while men are provided a path to 'innocense.'

The last time there was an issue like this it wasn't Lady Gaga making a 'statement of sanity' it was the President of "Virgin Atlantic" that came to the rescue.  I congratulate Ines for getting the interview and being the lady she 'naturally is'; and I thank Gaga for standing up for women's rights in a country where 'Boys are STILL boys and not men."

..."I volunteered to talk to them," Ryan said (click title to entry - thank you) at a press conference to discuss the Jets' 10-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens Monday night. "We want to have an environment here where everybody's comfortable. I don't know all the specifics of what's going on. The NFL is here today. They're here investigating. We're open. Whoever the NFL wants to talk to – I'm not sure who it is – but we'll let that play out. We're here to cooperate."...

Kobe Bryant, by the way, may have been forgiven by his wife, but, he ain't forgiven by the fans.  I mean for real already.  Major League sports players can't handle 'star quality' and distance themselves from exploitation of the innocent?  Did Kobe see the 'lady' naked?  You betcha.  And to think he managed it with a telephone call at the play she worked.

Kobe Bryant is still more unlikeable than LeBron James

By Trey Kerby

For a long time, people loved LeBron James(notes). Totally loved him in a non-platonic way (for the most part). At the same time, Kobe Bryant(notes) has been one of the most hated players in the NBA for the past few seasons. But it is funny how a summer can change things.
Now, after LeBron's decision and "The Decision," more and more people dislike LeBron James. Whether they think he's a coward, a jerk or just has a bad beard, the LeBron James train has less and less people enjoying its complimentary peanuts. And while LeBron has been busy making people angry, Kobe has been enjoying a great run that has seen him win an Olympic gold medal and two straight titles while staying out of headlines for anything bad. The tables have turned....

Michael Moore is absolutely correct on all counts, especially a peace park for appropriate use of that land. Gingrich is doing what comes naturally for Right Wing Extremists.

The Republicans Party's base includes bigots.  Gingrich found a 'conspiracy theorist' at Forbes that 'recontextualized' President Obama's book.  The moron that wrote the article Gingrich accepted as if sacred took the President's book, "Dream's from My Father" out of context to attempt to make legitimate character assassination wrapped in bigotry and presented in defamation.  Am I surprised the conspriacy theorist lives at Forbes 'Rag'azine?  No.  Forbes is about money.  Wall Street wants President Obama destroyed.  You don't see the equation?

Don't expect Gingrich to retract any statements.  The Republican base are bigots and that whom he is trying to motivate to vote in November.  They are extremists and without the tabloid extremists the Republicans would loose elections.  Gingrich is just speaking to his base.  It is why Republcians lie so much because they have to drive out the American Wacko from any distraction or slumber to vote.  Besides, he recently made a speech that really PO"d the Tea Party.  He and Trent Lott stated the elected Tea Party candidates would have to 'blend' into the crowd with the existing leadership indoctrinating them to the "Republican Washington Power Machine."  So, Gingrich has to lie and make a fool of himself in order to win them back again.  Gingrich doesn't care that the President of the USA has just been defamed, he cares about power brokering and elections.  After all he was the fool that extended the suffering of Americans for over a decade when Secretary Clinton, then First Lady was seeking to bring 'health care' under regulation to prevent deaths.  Gingrich never cared about citizens, only money and power.  He cares when it comes time to place a ballot, but, truely care about them?  Gingrich?  Never.  He treats citizens as if puppets on a string.

The Mosque near Ground Zero is a perfect place of it.  There needs to be a Muslim 'Prayer Room' within any commercial building that is planned for that site.  Why?  I think an article from "The New York Times" will provide proof to the 'history' of Muslim worship in regard to the 'daily functioning' of the Former Twin Towers.

There is not only a legal right and a moral right to build a Mosque near Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan, there is a historical significance to building a Mosque AT Ground Zero.

Elected the first black president of the Harvard Law Review, Obama was offered a book contract, but the intellectual journey he planned to recount became instead this poignant, probing memoir of an unusual life. Born in 1961 to a white American woman and a black Kenyan student, Obama was reared in Hawaii by his mother and her parents, his father having left for further study and a return home to Africa. So Obama's not-unhappy youth is nevertheless a lonely voyage to racial identity, tensions in school, struggling with black literature?with one month-long visit when he was 10 from his commanding father. After college, Obama became a community organizer in Chicago. He slowly found place and purpose among folks of similar hue but different memory, winning enough small victories to commit himself to the work?he's now a civil rights lawyer there. Before going to law school, he finally visited Kenya; with his father dead, he still confronted obligation and loss, and found wellsprings of love and attachment. Obama leaves some lingering questions?his mother is virtually absent?but still has written a resonant book. Photos not seen by PW. Author tour.

UNISYS Water Vapor North and West Hemisphere Satellite
September 13, 2010
2330:15z

Wow.  When is the Climate Crisis gong to make headlines other than for political reasons.  This is the second time this season there have been 'twin storms' moving together as a 'unit / system..'  The first was Earl and Fiona and now there is Igor and Julia.
This is a new phenomena for Earth and its populous.  It should be making headlines around the globe.

What I am trying to figure out is WHY any 'observer' expects these storms to take a northerly route?

They are not connected in any way to a northern vortex.  At all.  They are receiving their water vapor from the 'equatorial air' and their energy from 'direct solar rays' that maintain a consistent latitude.  Why would they veer off of those ENERGY AND HEAT SOURCES?

There are FOUR 'circulation centers' (vortexes if you will) that manifested nearly at the same time along the same latitude and are all moving along the same vector.  So, what would the logical decision making be in this matter and where would the ? Cone of Uncertainty ? include?

The four 'circulation centers' can still be seen.  The first in the line of 'ENERGY WAVES' is currently west of Mexico in the Pacific.  It manifested over the Yucatan.

The second is currently moving past Jamaica and it began over the open Caribbean with its center south of Puerto Rico.

The third is Igor.

The fourth is Julia.

My concern is for the people of Belize and the Yucatan should Igor continue on its path.  I don't see any of the systems entering the Gulf of Mexico at this point.  But, I do believe the nations that border the Caribbean need to be on 'alert' for this adverse outcome.

There is a huge circulation center over Louisiana .  THAT is the influential vortex in this 'chain of energy waves.'  Not the North Atlantic.  The circulation center over Louisiana has been extremely stable for over 24 hours now.

The people of the Antilles, if there are still people there this season need to prepare for very dire circumstances.  I am confident they are already experiencing the effects of Igor by now.  There has been dearly little time for the seas in the region of the world to 'calm' before 'this set of storms' manifested.  It is a 'system of storms' actually.

The 'second' energy wave still over the Caribbean is taking on a 'reverse' circulation character.  That potential could have a pushing effect against Igor, even now.  But, I question if that will be enough to push a 'near Cat 5' storm off course.

Julia is putting a 'drag' on Igor but not in a significant way.  From what I am looking at right now.  There is a potential for Gulf involvement with Igor if the second wave in the Caribbean pushes enough and Igor skirts along the islands north and over Cuba.  Then crossing the Keys and Southern Florida much as Andrew did and potentially becoming part of the vortex system over Louisiana with a direct strike there as well.  IF Igor takes that route, it won't diminish in strength in an appreciable manner.

From its origins in Africa, Igor has moved a huge distance westward across the face of Earth in the Atlantic, but, only moved 4 degrees north in 4 days and 6 hours.  It simply is not showing a propensity for northern movement in a meaningful way.  I am not a believer in allowing 'chance' to enter the picture when it comes to saving human lives.  I believe unless there is some significant tropospheric disturbance that moves Igor off its current route, there will be a significant path of destruction and danger for the nations between the Antilles to Florida.

I simply don't live in denial of a hot troposphere with plenty of 'energy' to allow for dangerous storms in whatever manner they manifest.  Denial is the enemy.  Denial is as expensive as preparedness, but, it is paid in human lives and property damage.  Preparedness is a mattter of using 'already assembled' resources saved for 'a rainy day.'  Gee, what a shame there is some inconvenience that comes to play when a Cat 4-5 storms is slipping across Atlantic waters unabated.  Damn the inconvenience.  Too bad.

Twelve hour loop at title to entry.

This the the path of Hurricane Andrew in 1992.  Igor has the potential to follow a nearly identical path.  But, slightly more southern.  That is my assessment as of right now.  However, there is a possibility Igor won't veer off at all, but, enter the Caribbean.

Igor is not moving as northerly as Andrew did.  Andrew was a lot further north than Igor is now.  In the same period of time of 4 days and 6 hours Andrew moved 13 degrees north while traveling a significant length of ocean.  Igor isn't going to veer off.  Don't count on it.

This is a NASA image of Hurricane Andrew which reached a Cat 5 velocity across Southern Florida.  It was big and mean.  1992.

Igor's 'eye wall' has been extremely stable and significantly along the same latitude.  If it turns north at all, Cuba needs to be on alert for a full length catastrophe.  It will be more southern than Andrew was.

Until tomorrow.
