Can these drugs cure mental health issues, including PTSD?

They are used in the presence of a therapist that directs thought processes to remove trauma and replace it with feelings of benevolence. The scourge of depression is a good way to start.

DMT is a white crystalline powder (click here) found in certain plants in Mexico, South America, and parts of Asia. Its street names are Dmitri, Fantasia, Businessman’s Trip, Businessman’s Special, and 45-Minute Psychosis.

In the first study of its kind, (click here) UK regulators have given the drug dimethyltriptamine (DMT) the green light for a clinical trial into its effectiveness in treating patients with depression.

The hallucinogenic compound, which has been called the “spirit molecule," is known for inducing powerful trips. It is one of the main active ingredients in ayahuasca, a South American brew used in shamanistic rites, and can be found in several plants.

The drug produces hallucinations and distortions of time, space, sound and colour in the user, but these effects are are short-lived compared to those of other psychedelics like LSD and magic mushrooms, which tend to last for several hours.

The trial will be run by the Centre for Psychedelic Research at Imperial College London in collaboration with a neuropharmaceutical company called Small Pharma, who described the approval as a “truly ground-breaking moment” in the treatment of depression....

It is a shame how Trump's selects laws that serve his purpose while deciving the people.

Alito and Thomas are political in their decision making.

Trump poisoned the well in the USA with all his half-truths and complete lies. It is easy to pretend to be an authority when only using parts of the law that fits the political puzzle. It is another thing to actually obey the law in its entirety. There is no constitutional basis for the EXACT date an elected president has to be chosen. The only codified aspect of the election is the structure that guarantees the counting of the electoral college.

There must be an Amendment to the USA Consitution begun as soon as possible that eliminates the US Electoral College. It is being manipulated to overthrow the government, ie: Alito and Thomas and their breathtaking allowance for a hearing.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday night (click here) rejected an eleventh hour challenge to Joe Biden's election as president.

The court's action came in a one-page order, which said the complaint was denied "for lack of standing."

Texas, supported by President Trump, tried to sue Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan, claiming fraud, without evidence. But in order for a state to bring a case in court, especially the Supreme Court, a state must show it has been injured. In essence, the court said Texas could not show that it was injured by the way other states conducted their elections.

"Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections," the court wrote.

Justice Samuel Alito, joined by Justice Clarence Thomas, wrote that in their view the court does "not have discretion to deny the filing of a bill of complaint in a case that falls within our original jurisdiction."...

Flint is divided over the $600 million settlement regarding poisoned water.

This is me about this entire mess. What bothers me about all this is the callous neglect and prescribed victimization of the people of Flint, Michigan.

The people of Flint already had enormous problems. Their city was not all that different from all the other cities in Michigan that fell under the Snyder hammer. And make to doubt about this disaster; it was an assault by Rick Snyder that resulted in human tragedy. Whether Snyder realizes it or not, money is not more important than human life.

There was a callous INTENT by Rick Snyder. He and the Michigan Republicans changed the Emergency Manager Law to assault an entire city and not simply reorganize the finances of a city school system. The Emergency Manager Law was very different and even benevolent before Snyder redirected its INTENT.

The Emergency Manager Law, under Snyder, was to bring about real pain to cities by selling their assets to the highest bidder, or in the case of Snyder, the biggest campaign donor. The reasoning behind the change in the law was to leverage a city's assets against it's debt. Selling waterfront property intended by the donor as a park for families and children, selling off a radio station that provided local access to the airwaves to speak to issues of the day, and in the case of Flint the sale of an entire water pipeline.

Snyder cared about the "balance sheet" not the city and certainly not the people. It was the balance sheet that took priority not the enjoyment of children or the connectedness of a city or the right to clean and safe water. The side benefits are that Snyder's campaign friends would be wealthier than before he was elected due to the callous use of the Emergency Manager Law, even after a voter referendum ended the law.

This settlement does not address the malicious use of power with complete disregard of the people that had no way to protect themselves, their children, their cities, or their water supply. A water supply is a direct human need to survive. Water is not an option. This was not a matter of whether a city could sell its water pipeline to settle a debt, this is about day to day human life. The settlements are preposterous.

Then governor Rick Snyder lowered his hammer on Flint, Michigan, and didn't prepare in any way for the needs of the people. Even after GM was given a proper water supply the people of Flint were left to survive if they could and some didn't and some babies were never born.

When it comes to monetary settlements there is never enough to make the pain go away and the question comes up as to what human life is worth. At some point, people reflect on their pain and allow an amount of money to take the place of their loved one to find some degree of justice. But, this? Flint? The suffering is still not over.

It is my opinion the monies Flint should receive are in the billions and not the millions. I am not certain how many billions either, it sure isn't one or two. People died, children are cast into mental diminishment and disability, babies weren't born because of miscarriage and it wasn't just one. Then there is the blatant racism that was leveled against the people and the pain from that is enormous. It is really hard to set aside any form of racism, but, this racism with Flint is like Snyder prefers they simply ingest the poison and die.

Rick Snyder consciously knew the water in Flint was poisoned with lead. The US EPA told him more than once to mitigate the problem OF THE PEOPLE. GM received potable water and the PEOPLE of Flint were allowed to SUFFER from poisoned water month after month until the entire country finally heard about the plight of the people of Flint, Michigan.

$600 million ain't nothing compared to the death, illness, and mental anguish that existed and continues to exist when Flint's water turned brown.

If all that is going to happen here is a civil settlement without criminal trials then make the STATE OF MICHIGAN pay! A former governor is getting away with callous intent leading to murder. MAKE THEM PAY!

Flint - Some Flint City Council members (click here) are vowing to fight a proposed historic settlement of Flint water crisis lawsuits and about 30 residents rallied to urge them to do just that on Friday. Dec. 11.

Council members questioned attorneys for more than five hours in a special meeting Thursday, in advance of a scheduled vote on Flint’s portion of the $641-million settlement next week.

Mayor Sheldon Neeley is asking the council to approve the city’s contribution of $20 million from an insurance policy toward the settlement, a move attorneys say would end the bulk of lawsuits filed by thousands of residents in more than 100 cases against the city, its former employees and emergency managers.

While some council members want to settle the cases to protect Flint from future liability, others say the overall deal would shortchange residents who suffered from exposure to elevated levels of lead, bacteria and chlorination byproducts in their water....

Flint - The clock is ticking to make a decision: (click here for a very interesting video) will the city of Flint join in on the $640 million water settlement?

On Thursday night, Flint City Council spoke directly to the attorneys, asking questions and addressing their concerns during a special meeting.

Concerns included that by the time the settlement is divided up between Flint’s children, those with health conditions, and the attorneys, they fear adult property owners without personal injury documentation won’t get their fair share.

“This is not enough! I’m looking at these percentages, and see, I was a math teacher. I know percentages, and I know that the residents here in the city of Flint will not get anything. They will not be compensated,” Councilwoman Jerri Winfrey-Carter said during the meeting....

Flint has taken important steps (click here) toward resolving the lead contamination crisis that made the impoverished Michigan city a symbol of the drinking water problems that plague many U.S. communities, officials said Monday.

A total of $120 million in federal and state funding has helped Flint replace more than 9,700 lead service lines, which carry water from main pipes into homes, said Kurt Thiede, administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Region 5, which includes Michigan.

Fewer than 500 service lines remain to be checked — a task the city hopes to complete this month, he said. The search-and-replace operation, involving more than 26,000 digs, was required under a 2017 settlement of a lawsuit filed by Flint residents and nonprofit groups against the city and state.

Flint also has finished most actions required under an emergency order the EPA issued in 2016, including the completion of a study on proper treatments to prevent water pipe corrosion and the regular sampling of water from homes that still have lead service lines, Thiede said.

The remaining steps should be completed soon, “marking the end of what has been a rather dark and challenging time,” he said during an online news conference....

The State:

By David Eggert

Lansing - Michigan lawmakers on Wednesday (click here) planned to begin swiftly passing a plan to borrow $600 million to fund the state's proposed settlement with the residents of Flint, who sued after their municipal water supply was contaminated with elevated levels of lead for 18 months.

Under the bipartisan legislation, the loan from a state economic development fund would cost more than $1 billion to repay over 30 years — $35 million annually. It is believed to be the state government's largest-ever legal settlement, pending approval from a federal judge.

Other defendants contributing to the $641 million deal include the city of Flint and McLaren Flint Hospital, which each will pay $20 million, and Rowe Professional Services Co., an environmental consulting company that will pay $1.25 million.

"We all determined together that that was the quickest way to get the money to be available for the families and to fulfill the settlement requirements," said Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich, a Flint Democrat who is sponsoring one bill. The mechanism, he said, will avoid a large drawdown from Michigan's savings account, known as the "rainy day" fund....

The Unanswered Questions:

The Flint City Council (click here) still has questions about its proposed $20 million settlement of Flint water-related lawsuits brought by residents and is scheduled to meet Thursday, Dec. 10, to address them.

Council members Eric Mays and Jerri Winfrey-Carter requested the special session in advance of an expected Dec. 14 vote on whether Flint will join the state of Michigan and two private companies in settling more than 100 cases involving thousands of children and adults who have filed lawsuits in state and federal courts.

The city, state, McLaren Regional Medical Center and Rowe Professional Services are among defendants seeking to settle those cases but council approval is required before Flint can participate.

Council President Kate Fields said Thursday that she’s requesting attorneys involved in the proposed settlement and other Flint water litigation appear during the virtual meeting, scheduled to be broadcast at 5:30 p.m. on the council’s YouTube channel.

The meeting comes just two days after council met to hear Mayor Sheldon Neeley deliver the State of the City address, a session in which Mays was removed from the meeting for being disruptive for at least the 10th time over several years....

Joe Biden is making very good choices for his administration.

This is not a third Obama term and kindly don’t go down that path. Term limits apply and should apply.

Joe has chosen, and as I knew he would, highly experienced people to line his cabinet. There are no surprises to his administration. He does not know the sincere damage done to the USA over the past four years. This MISSION is to return function to the Executive Branch and vital services to the American people.

I feel reassured the Biden/Harris administration will recognize the problems and immediately correct them. The entire incoming administration is ready on day one and we all have a lot be grateful for realizing what needs to be done.

Just a mention about a NY Times article covering the effects people are feeling after their fight for survival against COVID-19; it could be cardiac even though they never had chest pain.

There are cardiac conditions caused by viruses. The case of SARS-CoV-2 can be damage on steroids. Remember this is an unusually large virus. Cell damage occurs, sometimes as the first sign of contracting the virus. It has an affinity for nervous tissue be it cardiac or CNS  (central nervous system). Cardiac muscle is unique only to the heart. It is a fairly good guess that fatigue and/or weakness is a cardiac dysfunction including poor cardiac muscle tone/fitness.

There is a physical therapy called cardiac rehab, but, no one should exercise alone or engage in physical stress without a physician after the initial recovery from COVziD-19. A sudden drop in blood pressure can be dangerous. Until a person knows exactly the problem exercise can be adverse to their outcome.

It can be more than one body system involved as well. So, patients and their family need to be persistent to find the cause the fatigue exists. Support groups must form and meet regularly to share experiences, treatments, and hopefully cures.

No matter how Speaker Pelosi tries to find a compromise with the Majority Leader McConnell, it won't happen.

The original bill passed what seems like a lifetime ago, originated in the US House, made it through the US Senate and then Trump danced on the bill as if he wrote it himself. The fact of the matter is the people were demanding help, Trump was sabotaging the USA economy by stating there was no danger to the virus and McConnell was up for re-election.

McConnell won reelection, Trump has lost reelection and there is a promise of a vaccine. McConnell does not care about the people, he cares about his own wealth and his own priorities. He sees the struggle of the people as character building, including hunger.

McConnell sees the vaccine as the answer to all problems and believes the economy will return to normal regardless of unemployment due to bankruptcy. There will be no new funding for the public, McConnell is still the majority leader and there is an ongoing election in Georgia.

If there is a recovery bill it will occur after President Biden's inauguration.

Modern Healthcare: Bipartisan COVID-19 Relief Framework (click here) Includes $35 Billion In Provider Grants

A COVID-19 relief framework created by a bipartisan group of centrist lawmakers includes $35 billion in relief grants for healthcare providers. The legislative summary, dated Wednesday, still leaves the thorny issues of liability protections and state and local aid unresolved. Prior slimmed-down COVID-19 relief bills advanced by Senate Republicans had cut out more money for the Provider Relief Fund. HHS has distributed roughly $109 billion of the $175 billion Congress has allocated to the Provider Relief Fund as of mid-November, according to data released by the department. Some prominent health systems, including HCA Healthcare, have returned grant money. (Cohrs, 12/9)...

There needs to be separate tracking of the vaccinated.

Within the medical research community, there is concern the immunity either acquired or acquired through vaccine will be short-lived. There needs to be a detailed record of the vaccinated and their experience after their vaccine. There can be a great deal of hope in that record, but, it could be a window of limitations as well.

The F.D.A. (click here) is expected to issue an emergency authorization of Pfizer’s vaccine on Saturday. Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline said their experimental vaccine did not appear to work well in older adults, a significant setback....

...What happens next?

Since the panel’s vote on Thursday was only advisory, the vaccine must now secure the authorization of the federal Food and Drug Administration. That’s ordinarily a long and laborious process.

But that is highly unlikely to be the case this time. Barring last-minute snags, the F.D.A. is expected to issue an emergency authorization on Saturday.

And that means the first Covid-19 vaccinations to be administered in the U.S. outside the confines of an experiment are likely to begin early next week. First in line to get it are health care workers and nursing home residents....

Thank you, Pfizer, for taking the challenge to end SARS-CoV-2 seriously.

Full speed ahead.

This is from Pfizer and not the FDA.

...The Phase 3 clinical trial of BNT162b2 (click here) began on July 27 and has enrolled 43,661 participants to date, 41,135 of whom have received a second dose of the vaccine candidate as of November 13, 2020. Approximately 42% of global participants and 30% of U.S. participants have racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds, and 41% of global and 45% of U.S. participants are 56-85 years of age. A breakdown of the diversity of clinical trial participants can be found here from approximately 150 clinical trials sites in United States, Germany, Turkey, South Africa, Brazil and Argentina. The trial will continue to collect efficacy and safety data in participants for an additional two years....

There is no placebo group for the Third trials. The small number of actual participants in the previous trials yielded skewed percentages and will record observed side effects from people not injected. The small sample size of the early trials is not reliable to a larger picture of the vaccine. The fact the third trial did not have a placebo group is more indicative of the actual injection. Including higher participation in placebo allowed legitimacy to move forward when discussing the number of participants.

I would rather read the entire report myself.

An emergency status can be approved based on the 3rd trial above, but, there is no placebo statistics. It can be said that placebo in in this case is actually unethical considering the lethality of the virus. If the figures above accurately reflect immunity among those vaccinated an emergency status can be tried, however, the side effects and adverse effects are probably wanting.

I am not impressed with the stats from Pfizer.

The COVID-19 cases vs Placebos is 1 to 20. In one group 1 out of 9 contracted the disease

Percentages do not tell the story. Not as far as I am concerned. It is why there are allergic reactions among the early recipients in the UK. It is not widely tested and average people are now exposed to basically an untested vaccine.

I don’t know the number of people that will be expected to receive this vaccine on an emergency basis.

No one more than I wanted this to be over. In all honesty the Pfizer trials are wanting.

end

I think Loeffler mimicked the style of Coney-Barrett.

Bland, singularly spoken to issues, and basically a blank slate. I think this phenomenon with Loeffler can be seen in Coney Barrett at 42:39 time mark after Graham speaks. They may even have had the same coach. But, I find Loeffler very much using the style of debate as Coney-Barrett did.

By providing a "blank slate" the public is then allowed to make her image as it pleases them. Coney-Barrett's public ratings went up a few points putting her over 51 percent in public opinion polls. It was after those polls that Senator Murkowski changed her vote.

...Amy Coney Barrett: (click here)
The same process would work. In that case, there would be parties would have to sue the state arguing that, that law was unconstitutional. It would wind its way up, and if it got to the Supreme Court and if the Supreme Court decided to take it, a whole decision making process begins. You hear arguments from litigants on both sides. They write briefs. You talk to clerks as a judge. You talk to your colleagues. Then you write an opinion. Opinions circulate, and you get feedback from your colleagues. So it’s an entire process. It’s not something that a judge or justice would wake up and say, “Oh, we’re hearing this case. I know what my vote is going to be.”...

These exact words were repeated over and over in Coney-Barrett answers to Senate questions just like Loeffler's repeated mantra.

Trump has stated openly he expects his nominee to favor him in any decision. Politics.

Everything Trump expects of his nominee is all a matter of public record. All of his statements are based in politics. That is also the basis of the Texas complaint.

Pre-mediatated politics also plays into the Texas complaint.

3000 deaths in one day in USA exactly two weeks after Thanksgiving. The totals are higher than that.

The United States for the first time (click here) reported more than 3,000 Covid-19 deaths on Wednesday, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

There were a lot of people on the road in the USA that entire weekend. The reason this is notable is that we know why there is a severe spike in cases. The warnings were valid and no one cared about the warnings. I don't know how people reconcile these deaths in their personal lives, especially when the reason they are dead is that they ignored the warnings.

Indianapolis - On the same day Indiana (click here) surpassed 6,000 COVID-19 deaths, health officials are reacting to the news that the Hoosier state had the highest per-capita infection rate in the nation during the week after Thanksgiving.

According to data compiled on the Covid Tracking Project website, Indiana had a daily average of 1,025 COVID-19 cases per 1 million people from November 30 to December 6. The numbers followed weeks of warnings from state and federal health officials about a post-Thanksgiving surge.

“It is exactly what they forewarned was going to happen,” said Johnson County Health Director Betsy Swearingen. “I’m not surprised. People are still out and about, hoping that if they continue to live their life, this too shall pass, and it’s going to take some time.”

Doctor Brian Dixon, director of public health informatics at the Regenstrief Institute, agrees the numbers are not surprising....

Almost 30 staffers and members of Michigan's House of Representatives (click here) have contracted the coronavirus this year, the speaker's office said Wednesday — a week after Rudy Giuliani testified maskless in the chamber and three days after it was announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19.

About eight representatives and 21 staffers have reported testing positive so far, said Gideon D'Assandro, communications director and press secretary for Michigan's House speaker. D'Assandro would not detail the timing of the infections, and it was unclear how many tested positive in recent days.

Linda Vail, health officer for Ingham County in Lansing, said that it was highly likely that Giuliani was contagious during his testimony and that those in attendance should quarantine, NBC affiliate WDIV of Detroit reported.

An investigation has been opened into the House over "possible workplace violations" following an employee complaint, WDIV reported Tuesday....

This is pure unadulterated corruption including the dangerous propaganda of the Epic Times.

The Epic Times is stoking the propaganda of  hatred and confusion (click here) They are propagating lies and the political right-wing is diving in to secure their presidential pardons if you need one, like the Texas AG.

The Texas AG will seek argurment from the submisions of the four states he is victimzing. Got that? He will look for a reason to carry out his form of politics by reading through the submissions. The four states need to file their answers, but, the Texas AG will use those submissions to grow his arguments.

The four states involved in the accusations are hero states defending the USA and their state constitutions. Whatever happened to States Rights?

The Epic Times must allow equal access to opposing view points. That is the prime way into the closed door corruption that cuts off many Americans from the truth. There should be groups that specialize in equal opportunity for right wing media. It is the only way of getting the truth to their viewers and readers.

The partial stimulus bill is all politics.

The relief from liability alone screams abuse of large amounts of money.

The Republicans will try to use the bill to demonize Democrats, especially those in Georgia. It is a shame the Georgian Republicans candidates threw in with Texas. Georgia has had enough of this mess and Georgian Republicans are speaking out about the corrupt nature of these issues.

Allergies.

They will happen as more people are exposed to the vaccine. Statistics demand it. The more people in a group the greater the chance of adverse effects.

It might be possible to stem the reactions with something as simple as Benadryl, but, that has to be decided among physicians and researchers.

India plans to create 'vaccine booth' (click here) in the line of polling booths set up during an election for an “orderly and smooth” vaccination campaign across the country as the government gears up to roll out the Covid-19 vaccine, targeting 30 crore individuals in the initial months....

A new smartphone tool (click here) that will track the first American patients to get the coronavirus vaccine may be vulnerable to manipulation.

The technology, which was developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is called V-SAFE.

It will use text messages and web surveys so the first immunization recipients in the US can report any symptoms or side effects they are experiencing.

But a report from The Washington Post says federal and state health officials are worried that hackers or anti-vaxxers could access the CDC's system and use it to file false and misleading reports about the safety of the shots....

That said, all precautions need to be in place especially with these people. If they are known to be spreading the virus and refuse the injection they are quarantined until they are well again and/or have taken the vaccine and have immunity. Quarantines can be enforced. As more and more Americans SAFELY obtain immunity with the vaccines, these extremists will stand out like a sore thumb. They will become pariahs. That is not planned, but, this is a dangerous virus and it will occur.

Law enforcement will be involved with them and their children need to be vaccineated before entering a school environment.

Why were anti-vaxxers giving testimony in Congress? Political theater. These are the crackpots that vote for Republicans. The Republicans know when their base may decide they need to move to the left and get vaccinated. Do Republicans want that to happen? No. So they hold hearings to perpetuate the fear. Anti-vaxxers are afraid of vaccines. That is what these hearings are about. I have yet to witness any real information coming out of Republican committee meetings that feature extremists.

Anti-vaxxers are not a religion so they can be held responsible for behavior that adversely effects other Americans.

Political theater to preserve votes. That is what Republicans and their extremists are all about.

Pfizer’s vaccine

Congratulations on having the first person vaccinated in the free world. I am pleased other countries are receiving the vaccine at the same time the USA is preparing their approach.

Magnificent.

I am looking forward to Moderna’s vaccine as well as others in the pipeline. They are all needed and should be praised for their efforts.
