The northern ICZ is still displaced and there is no water vapor repopulating of this equatorial boundary.

This is a phenomena not known to Earth in recorded history. The ICZ migrates, but, not this. I am waiting to see when it will become ? normal ? again. This is unbelievable.

Water vapor in the wrong place kills.

Good Night.

Conquering depravity. Proving the element of 'man made' crisis.

It is important in countries like Saudi Arabia and other nations undergoing radical change such as Egypt and more like Libya and Syria that people understand this is a Climate Crisis and not evil or wrath from God. Weather and adversity in nations based in subsistence can be agitated to adverse outcomes by radical extremists that will use any method to destroy a nation's trust in their benevolent government. Sophistication is important to peace. Dispelling fear and replacing it with knowledge can help move a nation to a place of peace and productivity. It is a dangerous time for the Mideast, so any abnormality can be used against a populous. The politics of depravity.

It is my opinion that man-made crisis results when there is ignorance of the natural world as provided by any god's will and/or the willingness to live within Earth's benevolence.

Turning an entire planet into a source of wealth over it's profound purpose of supporting life is not only foolishness, it is complete irreverence to any overlord.

I am not alone in my point of view.

"Environmental threats (click here) are among the most grave impediments to lifting human development … The longer action is delayed, the higher the cost will be," warns the report, which builds on the 2011 edition looking at sustainable development.
"Environmental inaction, especially regarding climate change, has the potential to halt or even reverse human development progress. The number of people in extreme poverty could increase by up to 3 billion by 2050 unless environmental disasters are averted by co-ordinated global action," said the UN.
Ignorance in understanding complex systems can happen to the most benevolent of leaders. First the brain trust has to exist and secondly it has to be valued.
Pope Francis seeks to favor lifting misery of the poor which in many instances is Third World and very susceptible to droughts and deluge. When faced with these problems the Third World finds death and not just misery.

In reaction to "Earth Hour":

This is a laudable event, (click here) very significant and symbolic, because it will tell us that there is indeed a global unity. The urgency to protect the global environment and conserve energy remains critical.
The disruption in power will certainly affect critical sectors of the economy. The production and services of these sectors will be disrupted; this would mean cut in productivity. Of course security is another issue, and the Ministry of Interior is expected to provide safeguards against elements taking advantage of the situation.
– Dr. Ali Muhammad Al-Shukri, professor of physics at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM)
Very few people in Saudi Arabia know about Earth Hour. However, the idea behind the event that encourages people to turn off lights is good. But the issue of global warming is so serious that the world should observe Earth Hour at least once a month. There is a need to create awareness among people at all levels on how important it is to turn off lights that are not in use.
– Saad Al-Nufie, general prosecutor, Riyadh
I have a big house with 10 high-power electric bulbs. I usually ask my wife and children to turn off lights that are not in use. However, I will make sure that on Saturday my house and in my neighborhood participate in Earth Hour.

Yesterday I noted a movement of the northern ICZ to a radically north displacement while the southern ICZ joined with Mediterranean Sea water vapor to cause sincere danger in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Below is the movement north of the water vapor, eleven hours ago. The northern ICZ is repopulating it's water vapor after being robbed of so much yesterday.

The infrared image at the top of this entry is the infrared satellite as it exists right now. Easily noted is the movement now of the water vapor on a northeast track into the air mass decending from the Arctic.

This is the front that formed from that ICZ water vapor movement. The turbulence is fueled by the very PROPERTIES of water vapor. Why did this happen? Because we know that Earth's physics seek to resolve heat imbalance throughout it's troposphere. It is physics, it can't be changed and if it were this would no longer be Earth. Did the occurrence in Saudi Arabia and this movement of the northern ICZ have a relationship, I am confident they did.

Earth is on a path to a homogenous troposphere. It will continue to resolve it's heat imbalance through very powerful planetary forces. Those forces must be fueled by the very existence of water vapor and Earth will seek to find that water vapor anywhere in order to resolve that imbalance in the troposphere. That is the danger of the Climate Crisis and high levels of Greenhouse Gases. Earth will find a homostatic balance and the physics takes no prisoners.

What happened in Saudi Arabia?

To the right are the anticipated highs in Saudi Arabia today. Immediately below are anticipated lows.

This information is from Accuweather (click here).

The accumulated temperature picture is not yet complete for November, but, below is the average highs and lows from October.

The information to the October graph is here.

What occurred to Riyadh yesterday was movement of Arctic air to a tropical environment. It obviously is a rarity in this region of the world. But, Earth demands it's satisfaction and it will have it.

To the left is The Weather Channel satellite of Africa-Europe. Noted is the southern ICZ crossing the Atlantic Ocean from South America, rising along the eastern African border crossing in the same place as yesterday and dipping to cross southern Egypt to Saudi Arabia. The current movement is somewhat static, so the Saudis need to keep warn and dry.

Current Weather in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia by The Weather Channel (click here)

Saudi Arabia's skies usually are cloudy 10% of the time during the year.

Is Kerry a wrecking ball? Absolutely. But, he is also a great Secretary of State.

He had a rough start when his wife became ill. They are a wonderful couple and a turbulent world was passed on to him from Secretary Clinton at a delicate time in his personal life. I think he is exceptional.

One has to realize what Secretary Kerry is leading as a wrecking ball. He is dismantling war. That is a real threat to a Neocon like McCain. It is not only a real threat to the political dogma of the Right Wing that is a real threat to Israel. Israel exists because of it's successful strategy, however, it did not do it alone and sometimes Israel loses sight of that reality in pushing their settlement strategy.

The settlements are more than a religious directive, which it is, but is a method of extending the sovereign authority over the lands within Israel's borders. Palestine currently exists within the borders of another nation. The Palestinian nation is fragmented within Israel and to that end it does not have a traditional definition of sovereignty. Somehow, Israel never gets it right. Traditional definitions don't apply in the Israel and Palestinian circumstance. As a matter of fact, that is the very real challenge of the peace process between these two nations within the same borders of one country.

Additionally, Israel has been very clever in it's survival in the Mideast. It's diplomacy has been successful to advance relations with other local nations, but, not Iran. Why? Because Iran had a nasty President that lied about the Holocaust for his political purposes?

Yes and no.

What religious alliance is Iran an icon?

The Shi'ites.

Who does Israel have good relations?

Primarily Sunni nations.

Having Sunni nations as preferred friends sets Israel in a safety zone. I mean there is a reason for that, namely Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and Hamas. But, the Sunnis are NOT completely innocent in their ability to back radicals. Israel sometimes forget that. There is nothing preventing Sunni nations to back radicals from madrassas that still exist in these countries, including some of the most radical madrassas in Pakistan.

So, to say these circumstances are complicated is an understatement. Add to that the changes in these nations called "The Arab Spring." It becomes a real challenge to settle the circumstances of the Palestinian challenge to Israel. Israel is all too comfortable with aggression as a way to manage it's sovereignty. It is difficult for them to realize peace is possible when rockets come of it's borders.

What the current leadership forgets is "The Sharon Doctrine." I loved his bravery and vision. He was incredible. No one will ever taint his leadership with thoughts of failure. He was magnificent in seeking an answer for Israel and it has not exactly failed.

What Former Prime Minister Sharon realized as once Israel's Defense Minister is that a peace was possible, but, it would be necessary to defend from decades of 'canned hatred' by the Palestinians regardless of the civility of its leadership. With that reality came Gaza. It was traumatic to uproot so many of his own people to actually provide land, precious land, to the Palestinians and Hamas no less. But, he knew it was necessary and important for Israel to show tolerance and acceptance.

The process for peace in any country, including the entire region and Europe and Russia, in the case with Iran is not simple. There are many forces at work and all those forces have to be identified, realized to their place in the process and then finding a path forward while reassurances to the words of any agreement. The words have to be validated with actions, otherwise they are mute regardless of their magnificence.

But, the stakes are high, including the hate mongers in the USA. Those that find fear a real uptick to political dogmas to win elections in the USA is also a threat to the peace processes. Today, with the extremists in the USA Congress I am confident the USA is sometimes a skeptical partner.

The Neocons do NOT have the answer. This is not WWII where the USA has wars off both coasts and there is no immediate military solution on it's western border. But, memories of easy victories go along way when Veterans becomes icons of political intent.

So, does Secretary Kerry have his work cut out for him? You betcha. But, to date he has shown the will and way forward. I have confidence he will continue to knock down the barriers to peace and be a wrecking ball to hatred and war.

Rob Kolb (click here) was a little nervous as he leaned in to kiss Hercules on the lips Saturday afternoon. After all, it was his first time.

Hercules, a gray miniature horse with a little, white poodle riding him, waited until Kolb was just near his muzzle to flare his lips out and make the kiss even more interesting.
"It was a little scary. He kind of opened his mouth a little bit," Kolb said.
Kolb was the winner of the fifth annual Kiss the Horse for Literacy campaign, which raises money for the Marion County Literacy Council. The council teaches adults to read and helps them earn their GED diplomas....

Severe flooding in Riaydh. It looks as though it took them by complete surprise.

Published time: November 16, 2013 22:39

Severe flooding (click here) is being reported in Saudi Arabia, especially in the kingdom’s capital of Riyadh, with the government closing schools and urging people to stay indoors amid heavy rain. Flooding is rare in the country dominated by the Arabian Desert.
Witnesses in Riaydh, which is also the country’s largest city, are reporting flooded streets and shops. Pictures posted on Twitter show cars drowning in rainwater.

Riyadh is caught in a very wet southern ICZ (Intertropical Convergence Zone) assisted by water vapor from the Mediterranean Sea.

These satellite images are a little different than UNISYS satellites, but, they illustrate what I am stating. The top photo is obviously on the ground tragedy. The black and white image is an infrared satellite illustrating the 'Y' shaped system coming into Riyadh. There is flow from the south heading north meeting with water vapor off the Mediterranean Sea from west to east.

The colored photo to the right is a section from the photo below showing the southern ICZ in the right lower corner of the photo. It is somewhat difficult to discern in this image, but, it crosses northern Africa, across Mauritania, Mali, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, crossing the Red Sea across Saudi Arabia. It is a lot of water when those two water vapor sources come together. I hope everyone is okay.

About the same time the southern ICZ is soaking Saudi Arabia's capital city, the northern ICZ moved as far north as I have ever witnessed it.

Below is the northern movement of the ICZ. It doesn't appear to be finished moving north either.

Evidently some Supreme Court Justices make their own rules to live by rather than setting an example to the country and other federal judges.

Justice Thomas has once again graced the Federalist Society with his presence for their annual fundraiser, without shame or apology, along with fellow justices Alito and Scalia...

...A top House Democrat (click here) is going after one of the Supreme Court’s most conservative justices and trying to enlist the Chief Justice in her cause.
On Wednesday, New York Rep. Louise Slaughter wrote to Chief Justice John Roberts asking that he formally reprimand his colleague Justice Clarence Thomas for participating in the conservative Federalist Society’s annual fundraiser. Thomas’ appearance at the event, writes Slaughter, is a “clear violation of the ethical standards embodied in the Code of Conduct for U.S. Judges.”

Her letter was co-signed by representatives from two progressive advocacy groups: Nan Aron, president of the Alliance for Justice, and Arn H. Pearson, vice president for policy and litigation for Common Cause.

Canon 4(c) of the Code of Conduct forbids judges from personally participating in fundraising events. Although it is not legally binding upon Supreme Court justices, Roberts has previously written that it [Canon 4(c)] provides “a current and uniform source of guidance” for the members of the Court.

“Justice Thomas is among several members of the high court who’ve made a habit of flouting judicial ethics by headlining Federalist Society fundraisers,” said Pearson in a statement. “He gets away with it because the Court has exempted itself from the Code, but that doesn’t make it right.”

(C) Fund Raising. (click here) A judge may assist nonprofit law-related, civic, charitable, educational, religious, or social organizations in planning fund-raising activities and may be listed as an officer, director, or trustee. A judge may solicit funds for such an organization from judges over whom the judge does not exercise supervisory or appellate authority and from members of the judge’s family. Otherwise, a judge should not personally participate in fund-raising activities, solicit funds for any organization, or use or permit the use of the prestige of judicial office for that purpose. A judge should not personally participate in membership solicitation if the solicitation might reasonably be perceived as coercive or is essentially a fund-raising mechanism.

The difference between Libertarians and Progressives...

...is that Progressives don't sacrifice people as a learning curve to their outcomes.

Ruthlessness. No respect for the country's national holiday.

Thanksgiving is a family holiday. While the Walmart Family sits comfortably after their celebration, they can then ride the economic wave to deprive the nation of it's holiday.

Part of the reason these are national holidays is because so many celebrate them as a holy day. If the country didn't recognize Thanksgiving as a holiday very few employees would show up in their government positions and/or their private positions for employment. Therefore, the reason for Thanksgiving is based in religious observation.

This is some of the ruthless behavior I have ever witnessed by Wall Street. Walmart is among the largest retailers and should be setting an example, but, are they? NOoooooo.....money first before family, family bonding and time with purpose beyond that of the financial status of the nation.

For the first time in 125 years, Jewish families will celebrate two overlapping holidays, Thanksgiving and Hanukkah, as they gather together to dine in gratitude on Nov. 28.

"I got my menurkey," said Jayne Kleinman, program director at the Jewish Cultural Center of Reading, Wyomissing. "It's a plaster turkey-shaped menorah with the holes in the back to light the candles. I bought it through an Internet program for a fundraising event."

The menurkey was designed and named by a New York City fourth-grader, with the unique purpose of combining the thoughts of thankfulness at the heart of the two holidays.

Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, is an observance commemorating the rededication of the ancient temple in Jerusalem by the Maccabees following their victory over the Syrians around 165 BC....

Thanksgiving and Hanukkah fall on the same day for the first time in 125 years.

There is already a model to fix the regulations of the PPACA.

Straightening out the regulations written under Sebelius is not a hurdle at all. Currently, SSI pays dividends to private health care insurance carriers through the Medicare Advantage program which still exists and will continue to exist. The payments have about a 60 day lag to the insurance companies. So, when the regulations are written properly and the government has to supply the subsidy up front to the insurance companies there is already a model to do that and the insurance companies don't mind it a bit.

The up front subsidies will not effect the national budget deadline in January or the Debt Ceiling deadline in February.

The monies for the subsidies are already there in the form of three years of tax collection spawned within the law.

From the previous article.

...I suspect many, many Americans like me will wait until the last moment to enroll for new coverage not because we want to do that but because we financially have no choice. That’s working class health economics 101....

All this is doable and I want to hear no excuses.

FIX IT NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The changes necessary to the REGULATIONS can be conducted administratively, it requires no further legislation. This is what happens when an incompetent has no compassion for the people of this country. This is incompetency and if Kathleen Sebelius doesn't understand that, then is speaks to illegitimate place in government. She has no clear understanding of the people she is SUPPOSE TO SERVE. The people are not suppose to serve to her whims. She is demonstratively incompetent.

Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (click here)

The PPACA is about life and death. The regulation demanding the within 400% of the poverty line to pay for their subsidy for one year is hideous and cruel.

...In response to this need, (click here) the Kaiser Family Foundation with funding from Gilead Sciences has produced “Obamacare & You,” a new Greater Than AIDS consumer web portal Exit Disclaimer to help PLWHA learn about new coverage options and how the law could affect their care and treatment. Greater Than AIDS Exit Disclaimer is a leading national public information initiative developed by the Kaiser Family Foundation together with the Black AIDS Institute and supported by a broad cross section of public and private sector partners to increase knowledge, reduce stigma and promote actions to stem the spread of HIV in the U.S. -...

"Together we are greater than AIDS" (click here)

Fire Kathleen Sebelius ! She is incompetent in the rollout of the law AND the written regualtions.

She was once involved in government in relation to the health care insurance industry. She is owned by them. As a result when she wrote the regulations derived from the law she penalized the individual to keep the monies flowing in her parties direction at the time of elections. She needs to go.

...Enrolling in a new health plan (click here) on the ACA/Obamacare exchange requires payment of the premium at the time of enrollment. Many working class families live paycheck to paycheck or they are in the hole financially. They make too much to qualify for Medicaid but too little to make an additional insurance payment right now that can be put off until the last moment. To be even clearer: working class people like me do not have hundreds of extra dollars in the bank to make that new premium payment in advance of when it will take effect.

For many, like me, we are already paying a huge medical insurance premium (mine is $875 every month for individual COBRA/Aetna policy), and we’re in the hole trying to make that happen.

Hence, I will look at what’s available to me on the exchange – Connect for Health Colorado – but I will wait to actually enroll until I have the money to pay the premium. Will that be tomorrow or December 1 or right before Christmas on December 15th (the last day to pay for the January 1st coverage)? I do not know. I just got the Medicaid denial this week after waiting 36 days for that denial that stopped me from going forward to shop for coverage. So, that’s a working class reality....

If one recalls when President Obama took office there was a crisis in this country. People were losing COBRA benefits at a rapid rate. In order to keep the COBRA policies intact he allowed for a credit to be entered by the employer involved in their taxes while the consumer paid their normal fees. It was the employer that carried the burden of the subsidy and NOT the individual.

That is the way The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has to work. The individual CANNOT and WILL NOT BE ABLE to carry their subsides until their tax benefit is realized and applied to the upcoming year.

The REGULATION regarding the subsidies and where the burden lies is written to defeat the law.

Kathleen Sebelius is directly responsible for the pain the nation is feeling right now regarding this law. She has issued waiver after waiver because she is incapable of disconnecting from her loyalties to the profitability of insurance companies. She has to go. Her political career is now over.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is about life and death. It has been since the beginning and it is today. She has no right to cause any individual in this country the hardship of the burden of paying the subsidies for a year before receiving relief from it's cost. She is COMPLETELY DEFEATING the purpose of the subsidies.

I don't care if the government pays the subsidy through a direct payment to the insurance companies on behalf of the people or they require the insurance carriers to do it, but, it will stop and the regulation recalled and written the way it was intended when the law passed in 2010.

Sebelius is directly responsible and she has to go. She has incompetently written the regulations. She should have been dismissed when she wrote her first waiver.

The way this regulation is applied not only states her incompetency in government it bring question to her dedication to the well being of the people of this nation.

I think some folks in the USA are completely demoralized of the value of their own lives.

Americans purchase all kinds of insurance and they look for the best rates. When they do they realize an event could destroy what they worked so hard for and seek to protect themselves. They understand the concept, but, health care is such a political hot potato for the Republicans because they can instill fear so easily in people.

The Health Security Act was defeated in 1994. It has been nineteen years that Americans have been compromised by the health care insurance companies. During that time they got used to being in danger of their life. They sought care at emergency rooms for their children. Did without preventive care. Looked the other way to health issues that needed attention until they were too sick not to attend to them. They have tried every measure under the sun trying to cope with a health care system that didn't care about them and costs were astronomical for average Americans.

The lack of health care was something no one really talked about because in all too many cases it was unattainable. I think people are going to have to start thinking about health care insurance in the same why they think about homeowner's insurance, renter's insurance, car insurance and even flood insurance. There is a reason to own a policy. That reason lives in the vapors of life and is unpredictable. Folks have been abandoned and abused in so many ways over the last twenty years it is going to take patience and persistence to help them find their ways back into reality about all this.

Everyone in the USA is better off with quality health care.

Health care costs have gone up for the sixth year in a row, (click here) increasing at rate higher than inflation. Those who can still afford health care are often finding that their benefits are being trimmed while their co-pays and deductibles are increasing. With these growing costs is the growing importance of getting the most out of your health care coverage. Unfortunately, health care policies are often complicated and confusing, filled with jargon that can confuse anyone without a law degree....

Purchasing Health Care Insurance isn't as difficult as it seems and the Gold plated or Platinum plated policies is not necessary the BEST for any individual or family in the country. The Platinum plated health care provides THE SMALLEST COPAYS for a higher subscription price. The wealthy may or may not subscribe to these plans, it is the anticipated health care costs any family or person expects in a year that dictates the policy they purchase.

My physician is the best. She worries about me and cares a great deal about my wellness. She and her colleagues are priceless. The least I can do is take her advice and care to heart and seriously follow her recommendations. But, for the visit to the office it costs $95.00. I have a $20.00 co-pay. That is all I pay to her when I visit that office. She bills the insurance for $95.00 and it is between them what she recieves, but, on the reconciliation statement I only look at the services charged to be sure they are correct and I look at the amount I owe and it is always $20.00. That is not the physicians invoice it is the reconciliation statement from the insurance company and when I go back to her office for follow-up or whatever, there is never a balance. I pay the $20.00 before my appointment and that is all I pay.

When I have a prescription, my out of pocket is $3.00. And no I don't have Medicaid. I have a Blue Cross and Blue Shield policy. I fill most of my scirpts at Walgreens. Why? Because Walgreens honors my scripts no matter where I am even Alaska when I visit the ice fields. That is why I go to Walgreens. They give me good service, always look for the most economical method of obtaining my medications and respect any question I have.

$3.00

That is all I pay. My full year deductible is $6100.00. That means IF and that is fairly big IF. If I accumulate services and medications and whatever totaling $6100.00 over one year the insurance than pays 100% of those costs. I have met the yearly deductible and I pay nothing after that.

I will not accumulate $6100.00 out of pocket in any given year. It won't happen. I know it won't happen. Why would I pay for a more expensive health insurance policy for a lower annual deductible if I know I will never meet it anyway? That would be throwing money right into the profits of the insurance company and I would be a jerk for shooting myself in the foot.

The companies are in business for profit and completely let you believe the Platinum policy is where all the millionaires go. NOT.

The only way to decide what policy to purchase is knowing what your REGULAR health care costs are. And the great thing about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is that all the preventive costs are FREE. I don't have to put those costs into my medical budget in any year now. It is great. I don't have to pinch pennies to be sure all my preventive care is complete it is now included in my subscription costs. I like it that way. I have my preventive appointments made already. It is all taken care of. NO WORRIES.

If I didn't have my health care insurance I would be paying far more out of pocket costs every year to keep up with my preventive costs and any anticipated illness and prescriptions than my subscription costs. Absolutely would, no doubt in my mind. I could not achieve all this wonderful care without my health insurance company. Why? Because THEY have a contract with my doctors and I don't.

If I didn't have insurance I would have to pay my physician $95.00 per visit, not $20.00. She doesn't get $95.00 for her service from the insurance company and she is a very happy and comfortable person with her contracted services with many insurance companies.

And because the insurance isn't paying her $75.00 knowing I paid $20.00 they are making money through their contracts. Absolutely they are.

Everyone is taken care of, me, my doctors and all those providing me care and the insurance company. I don't begrudge them their subscription fees/PREMIUMS because I could not do alone what they do as a company.

For all those folks that are falling into this TRAP by the Right Wing Politics in the USA; they are not doing the right thing for themselves. They are paying high out of pocket costs thinking they are saving on PREMIUMS and they doing themselves a favor by BEATING THE SYSTEM. NOT. They are avoiding care and even when it is covered by their bare bones policies they aren't covered for the 'bad news' should it come.

I realize personal decisions are important. But, when it comes to health care costs being a smart shopper for insurance is knowing what your costs will be per year and honoring your wellness by receiving vital preventive care and following physicians advice.

I wish I had a magic wand to clear up the thinking of the nation because The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is the best thing that has happened to every American in this country. I believe that beyond any doubt.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling!

FACT SHEET: New Administration Proposal To Help Consumers Facing Cancellations

“I've assigned my team to see what can we do to close some of the holes and gaps in the law, because my intention is to lift up and make sure the insurance that people buy is effective, that it's actually going to deliver what they think they're purchasing.  Because what we know is, before the law was passed, a lot of these plans people thought they had insurance coverage and then they'd find out that they had huge out-of-pocket expenses or women were being charged more than men.  If you had preexisting conditions, you just couldn't get it at all.
“And we are proud of the consumer protections we've put into place.  On the other hand, we also want to make sure that nobody is put in a position where their plans have been canceled, they can't afford a better plan even though they'd like to have a better plan.  And so we're going to have to work hard to make sure that those folks are taken care of.” – President Barack Obama, November 7, 2013....
In an article from the Christian Science Monitor Mr. Smith is complaining about having to pay more than $200 per month over his current costs. He admits he pays for coverage that basically isn't any type of coverage at all and that it would be nice to be accepted into a health care policy without any problems. This is exactly the problem. Now, if Mr. Smith or his spouse run into problems in the next year because they didn't purchase from the health care exchanges, they have a good chance of declaring bankruptcy and losing any footing they have now to their dreams of operating a restaurant business.
There are times when government has to make the choices. These folks simply don't have a clear understanding of what good health care can bring to their peace of mind and their future dreams. This is a shame the media is exploiting people like this and causing such problems.
President Obama needs to proceed with the State Exchanges and ignore the complaints they are under educated to their best outcomes and exploited by the political Right Wing.
...When Smith and his wife, who are both in their early forties and who do not have children, relocated to Cape Coral from West Des Moines, Iowa, in 2012, they say they were refused coverage by Golden Rule, a division of UnitedHealthcare, which serves 27 million members. Smith takes lisinopril for high blood pressure and pravastatin for high cholesterol, so when a broker then hooked him up with a Humana policy, the Kentucky-based insurer serving more than 11 million customers said no to him, too.
Despite these preexisting medical conditions, after a few months in their new home the Smiths were approved for a bare-bones, high-deductible policy by Florida Blue. Now, just a year later, he has to go through this process again.
“It’s all myself – no employees,” Smith says. “So if I do get sick or anything – I mean, if I’m down, I’m in trouble.”
But he and his wife are happy to be in Florida. They even hope to open a Thai restaurant in the near future. And although they’ll be paying more for insurance, they feel a bit more secure.
Smith is shopping for a “bronze plan” now, the cheapest of the metallurgically-labeled coverage levels that many private insurers are using, echoing the labels of Obamacare. With the cheapest plan, Smith and his wife will each have a $6,350 deductible, or a $12,700 yearly out-of-pocket cost for health services they use. Until they cross that threshold, this type of plan pays only for a few primary-care visits and a basic drug benefit.
“I have more confidence that I’ll have real insurance now,” he says. “You know, I don’t like to pay more, but I have more confidence that I’m going to have some coverage that won’t get yanked from underneath me.”
Those deductibles apply only to the level of out of pocket expense paid before the insurances pay 100%. These folks do not have to pay $6350 per person before they are given coverage. That is their maximum out of pocket for the entire year. But, the health care coverage starts immediately in providing benefits for medicine and doctor visits. These poor people are run through the meat grinder to prove what exactly? That they have options to good insurance that will prevent profound tragedy in their lives?
People are being taken advantage of in that they do not understand what purchasing health care means and what exactly deductibles, no pays, etc. mean. For a healthy person a Bronze Plan is all that they need at this point, but, at least they have coverage if the worst happens. Mr. Smith and his wife will suffer more financial hardship if either of them in their early forties are diagnosed with an expensive diagnosis.
Honestly, one would think the world was coming to an end.
