My understanding is that the west coast USA won't be able to see it, but, if cities dim their lights and perhaps similar to that of "Earth Hour" the meteor shower will be far easier to see. The meteors come out of the northeast. Don't have a mobile phone with you because for the time one looks at 30 messages the best of the meteor shower will be over.

Sky-watchers (click here) around the world are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Perseid meteor shower, which will be at its best from August 12 to 13. Often one of the most impressive spectacles of its kind, the Perseid shower should be especially vivid this year because the sky will be moonless and dark during the peak.
The Perseids are actually visible from July 17 to August 24, although you’ll see only a few meteors an hour throughout most of that time period. The sky show spikes on the peak dates, with an expected average of 90 shooting stars an hour....

Americans have to be smarter than this.
White Supremacist groups need to take a step back from their agenda to realize they are being manipulated by a foreign government that has every intention of killing White Supremacists as soon as they are able.

Republican Rep. Tom Garrett (click here) said Saturday that he was told during a briefing with the FBI director that Russian meddling played in a role in "fomenting the flames of what happened in Charlottesville," Virginia, one year ago, when a white nationalist rally turned violent and resulted in the death of a counterprotester.
"I sat in a closed session briefing probably two months ago about Charlottesville with the director of the FBI, amongst others, and asked if Russian inter-meddling had to do with fomenting the flames of what happened in Charlottesville. I was told yes, it did," Garrett told CNN's Ryan Nobles on "Newsroom." The congressman from Virginia said he asked during the briefing if the information was classified and was told it is not.
Garrett, a member of the House Homeland Security and Foreign Affairs committees, said that Russian interference is "seeking to pit Americans against Americans to undermine confidence in Western-style democracies."
Referring to Russia, the congressman said, "They use events like this divisive racial fight ... and this is the sort of thing they do. As a member of Homeland Security, that's what scares me most, that Americans will be pitted against Americans over real differences, but that are minimal in the grand scheme of things. We are an American family of brothers and sisters regardless of religion and race, and we need to focus on that."
The FBI did not immediately return CNN's request for comment on the congressman's remarks.
FBI Director Christopher Wray referenced Charlottesville last month while discussing foreign interference at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado and said "foreign influence" is playing a role in efforts to "spin up domestic extremist movements."...

Extremely covert.
One aspect of the trials occurring I have to remind myself about is the enormity of these cases. I am astounded by the extent the corruption took root among these lawyers and their clients.
I would think with such enormous corruption it would have shown up before now. But, the men involved have very tight lipped relationships. Trump had become a high risk to banks since his escapades as a much younger man. His flamboyant lifestyle while filing for bankruptcy even called in legal disciplinary measures to curb his spending. In reflection Trump was contained by USA banks. Why would he or his affiliates, like Cohen, ever be suspect to law enforcement?
As soon as Donald Trump was the nominee of the RNC everything that was covert started to reveal itself. Trump was still looking for money to borrow even though the USA banks would not lend to him. He didn’t even have favor in Europe. The only banks entertaining loans with him were in communist countries, ie: Alpha Bank. Unless these transactions came forward to the federal investigation agencies it was always covert.
Donald Trump had a pass on federal taxes for 18 years because of the jobs his casinos and hotels created. There was nothing to cause suspicion.
The secrets, including those with Manafort, found their way to the surface as the 2016 campaign ground on. Low and behold Trump’s need for money meant he had a relationship with Russia. Basically, who knew and who would suspect?
The people of the USA didn’t go looking for this. The Russian invasion into Ukraine was enough of a surprise for me. Russia hadn’t changed even after the dissolved USSR. I think realizing Russia was elaborately spending money and time to create webs of conflict of interest for anyone crossing its path was a rude awakening. The plots that ensnared these men were sponsored by Russia in full expectation of being rewarded with power over the American democracy. I always thought Senator McCain was a little to harsh on his opinion of Putin, but, he was spot on.
I suppose these trials seem like political grandstanding to some and FOX News, but, they aren’t. The USA is still locked in conflict with Russia. We had enormous national security issues and didn’t know it. These trials are a result of the Pandora’s Box that sprung open as federal intelligence agencies could now see there was something really wrong and it covertly was undermining the American democracy.
From the beginning I said this investigation and now the trials are about the country and every day that passes I see it more and more. Robert Mueller is a great man and great American. He has the prayers of many people so that his arrow into heart of the monster that is trying to eat our democracy is straight and true.
The American people have been deceived, because, their desire for peace through economic opportunity that stemmed from hope for “The Family of Nations” was actually a tool in Putin’s plans. It is the people that need to open their eyes to what is transpiring in these trials, because, men with these blind ambitions are getting a good look at a fate to never allow it to occur again.
We are a country of laws and they are now working to return decency to the American character. These investigations are important and the hearings more so. Americans need to stop being fools and puppets to false promises and hope, it is costing them their country.

When toxins are released into the air or water, people downstream from that reality need to be informed immediately.
I think the reason for the six month window is to allow for the toxin being a temporary problem. In other words, the toxin has to be evaluated for exposure to the public, the amount of exposure and wheater or not the exposure was serious to raise the awareness to the public. It is politics that has crossed the line of "Shhhhh, it is probably nothing." It probably prevents lawsuits.

Flint -- State regulators (click here) received clear, early evidence of serious problems with the Flint water system almost immediately after the city began using the Flint River as its water source, an expert witness told a Genesee District Court Judge Wednesday, Aug. 8.
Dave Jansen, a former senior assistant director for the Genesee County Drain Commissioner's Office, said testing showed elevated levels of total trihalomethanes in Flint water almost as soon as the switch was made to the river.
City and state officials never notified the public of the problem with TTHMs until the city was required to send warning notices to water customers six months later, detailing the failure to prevent high levels of the chlorine byproduct, which over many years can cause liver, kidney or central nervous system problems and an increased risk of cancer.
Jansen reviewed early reports from the operation of the Flint water plant during the continuation of the preliminary examinations for current and former DEQ officials Stephen Busch, Michael Prysby, Liane Shekter-Smith and Patrick Cook on Wednesday....
That six month waiting period or pause or whatever one calls it. is probably written in by a lawyer. It has no solid basis in the science of community public health. No self-respecting health official would write such a provision.
There are more lawsuits to file with an increase in the unofficial death toll from the Flint Water Crisis now reaching 119. The additional deaths all occurred within the period of time the first 12 contracted Legionella bacteria.
It is now a cluster of deaths and not simply an outbreak. That changes everything legally.

The death toll in Flint, Michigan, (click here) from contaminated water may be much higher than state health officials have acknowledged, an ongoing FRONTLINE investigation has found. The likely killer: Legionnaires’ disease, a severe form of pneumonia caused by the Legionella bacteria.
Officially, 90 people were sickened and 12 died from exposure to waterborne Legionella bacteria during the 18 months that the city of Flint drew its water from the Flint River in 2014 and 2015. But FRONTLINE’s investigation has found 119 deaths from pneumonia during that time, some of which scientists say could actually have been caused by Legionella. The tally is based on an extensive review of death records and interviews with epidemiologists and other scientists who are experts in the field of infectious diseases....

Drones of Yemen
I am not going to make excuses for the deaths of Yemeni children on their school bus. The USA made a huge error in targeting. It was by drone. All those children were killed and injured by a USA drone flown by the USA military hundreds to thousands of miles away. To begin, this administration has used children before to inflict pain. Specifically at the USA southern border. I caution them to be far more careful than this.
Most Americans don’t really understand the USA involvement in Yemen. Yes, Saudi Arabia is an ally to the USA, but, the Saudis aren’t the only reason we are there. Yemen is still baggage from September 11, 2001. Since, 2002 the USA has carried out and confirmed 392 drone strikes over Yemen. The rational back in 2002 was that Yemen had several bases belonging to Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. According to the American military 57 Al Qaeda leaders were killed in those strikes along with innumerable training camps. Really? Yemen isn’t that big. A few training camps, maybe, but not so many the USA military lost count.
This is not the first time civilians were killed. Depending on the source there have been 111 to 210 civilians killed in Yemen by USA drones. No doubt these children are the youngest.
How long does the war on terror go on? The argument can be made that the attacks into Saudi Arabia by the Houthis is due to the prolonged USA bombing that spans 16 years. Is there any wonder why Iran is a sympathizer?
The most famous drone strike carried out in Yemen was Anwar al Awlaki, an American born cleric. In days following Awlaki’s death a USA drone targeted and killed his 16 year old American born son as well as slaughtering four of his friends with the same drone strike. The reason the son’s death occurred was that on examination of Awlaki’s cell phone record a frequent number appeared and it was the cell phone of his son. But, the USA didn’t view it as a family member joyfully speaking to his father, but, another terrorist. Testimony in a court case regarding the deaths of these two Americans would reveal by the 16 year old’s grandfather that the boy was a good student with a loving family and good friends. The 16 year old was never raised to be a terrorist by his father or anyone else. The truth is Awlaki was radicalized due to mistreatment by the USA on American soil after 911 that drove him to Yemen.
That was a very long winded way of saying those children better not have been a deliberate target for ANY reason. There needs to be a thorough investigation including pilot fatigue and burn out. Given the parameters by which drone pilots operate this seems like a planned strike. It better not have been a side swipe at Iran. There is only one person I can think of maniacal enough to do such a thing. If I remember correctly didn’t all drone strikes have to go through Obama?
Iran needs to initiate a peace process through the U.N. Security Council to end this senseless violence. I might add, the Saudis were at Trump Tower recently and there still exists the insane Trump - Kushner peace plan for the Middle East that needs to be considered by the Security Council as well. President Rouhani is up to taking on the USA at the U.N. Security Council. The truth must be known. Please.

There seems to be a lot going on in Kansas this year from Governor to US House and the Kansas State House. There is a lady from Kansas that could be helpful. Her time as HHS Secretary was a rough ride. She, definitely was not on everyone’s Christmas card list. But, considering she was once Kansas’ Governor I can’t help but believe at the very least she would make an excellent coach to newly minted hopefuls about her experience with leading Kansas.

Judge Ellis’s inconsistency in his rulings and interruptions has to raise questions of competency on both sides of the trial. He is creating his own mistrial. I do believe that.

I am quite confident most adults have dealt with an agency when renting or purchasing a residence. They fill out the contracts and witness the signatures and provide an accounting for fees and monies paid. In such an agency relationship all parties involved benefit. It is a fiduciary relationship. TRUST. One party trusts the other to be acting in good faith.
There is no such thing as a divided union shop, either all employees benefit from the contract or none do. It is to keep harmony in the union shop with members having benefits beyond the paycheck such as involvement and voting for those that represent them. Also, "shops" have union representatives. Being a union representative also has it's perks such as higher involvement and possibly advancement in the union organization.
What Alito and his Supreme Court Brothers did was to continue the "agency" aspect of the union contract WITHOUT any fees being paid. So, this employee that BELIEVED his partial payment of dues for the benefit of the union acting as an "agent" would make a statement about his permission for unionization while still receiving the benefits. There is no such thing as a divided union shop, either all employees benefit from the contract or none do. Being a union representative also has it's perks such as higher involvement and possibly advancement in the union organization.

This is the kind of thing that causes real problems in the culture that exists between the community and the police. If the potential for a crime does not exist in a community, there is absolutely no reason to place one there artificially and cause the community hardship.

This is simply bad police work. Chicago needs a new police commissioner that doesn't worry about statistics to impress citizens for elections so much as someone familiar with Chicago and it's gangs. Chicago needs a native born police officer that can fill the shoes of the Police Commissioner and bridge all these problems with the communities.
The Chicago City Council has to be willing and able to work with the Police Commissioner to change the violent culture in these communities. That culture change won't happen if the people don't trust the police. Chicago has a long road to walk to take back this level of mistrust in a community afraid to talk to police. A joint investigation (click here) by Chicago police and the Norfolk Southern Railroad that used a truck loaded with goods and left parked in Englewood as a lure for potential thieves has come under fire after video of the operation went viral.
“This bait truck operation is an unacceptable and inappropriate use of police resources,” said Ald. Roderick Sawyer, 6th, chair of the City Council’s Black Caucus. “In a moment where police capacity is clearly under extreme strain, these sort of tactics are the last thing we should be spending manpower and energy on.”
A video shot earlier this month that was posted on the Facebook page of community activist Charles Mckenzie appears to show officers arresting a man after he allegedly broke into a “bait truck” in the Englewood neighborhood. People on the video argue that community members are being set up for arrest....
It seems to me the American people don't have a clear understanding of Trump tariffs.
I hear the pain of the impacts of the Trump tariffs and believe every pain is worth exploring to expand the manufacturing sector in the USA.
The monies coming into the federal government is pure government profit. The government spends nothing to achieve the bankroll that shows up with imports. The Trump tariffs are especially expansive. I firmly believe the tariffs are being used to close the income tax gap with all the tax cuts to the wealthiest citizens and larger companies.
As I thought these tariffs are hitting small businesses with profound damage. This is pure folly. Why? Because when the 2008 global economic collapse occurred it was the small businesses that took the least economic hit and was quickest to rebound and back into the profit range from the losses they initially sustained. All other businesses in the USA took far longer to recover. The bigger the business the longer it took for it to recover to profitability. Kindly remember 2008 were losses. Simply because businesses recovered doesn't mean there weren't losses across the spectrum in the USA and abroad. Yes, some businesses that could not recover went out of business.
The tariffs are being misused in my opinion. Tariffs are supposed to be used to add EQUITY to the domestic market. In other words, the Chinese can produce products American consumers buy or use in their manufacturing far cheaper than any domestic product. A tariff is supposed to add cost to the consumer to move the domestic product into a reasonable range to American consumption either direct sales of a product or materials used in American manufacturing.
The Trump Tariffs are about paying for the expansive tax cuts. That is becoming more and more clear as the US Treasury Department is adding US Bonds that can be cashed within two months. Those two-month bonds are used to FLOAT LIQUIDITY in the USA cash flow. That screams out loud to me. The Trump Budget does not have the economic income to continue the function of the US government. The very short-term bonds alleviate that cash flow congestion.
So, as to what to do:
First and foremost Americans have to put COMPETENT legislators into the federal government. I do not consider the Trump White House and its pressure on Congress to comply with its demands competent.
Secondly, Americans have to look beyond the protest and upcoming elections to change the course of the peril when tariffs are causing job loss and business closures.
The way I see this is for small business owners to work with the Small Business Administration to network within the country to find the supplies they need in their manufacturing. Those domestic supplies are not carrying tariffs. In realizing the businesses were viable before the tariffs is to realize there needs to be a shoring up of the manufacturing process in the USA. I think that can be a good thing. Small businesses will carry a great deal of pain for these paradigm shifts, but, in the long run they will be offering consumers products that are completely manufactured in the USA.
Thirdly, consider any downturn in a business seriously. I don't think these tariffs are going to disappear AND that means the countries that normally exported their products to the USA are already looking for new and different markets. I strongly believe the damage is done. While American business persons are hopeful of turning this around in January when a new Congress is seated, there is a chance the other countries have strategized away from the USA and they are not coming back. A war is a war and there are casualties. The idea is to intercede as soon as possible to move into this paradigm shift.
Kindly realize these tariffs are expansive and are having an impact in other countries, however, a country like China is already involved with the Third World and ready to develop these countries to move what was once the USA exports to other countries. All of this mess can be beneficial to the global economy in the long run, but, as the imports become a trickle to the USA economy there are dire consequences.
So, if I may?
If one accepts the fact the Trump Tax Cuts are supported by the Trump Tariffs what happens to the USA economy as it's income to the USA Treasury trickles to a halt. Now, the national budget deficit will grow as the tariffs no longer support the Trump Tax Cuts. As the budget deficit grows and the national debt adds up, the USA will be forced to seek more and more loans through sale of USA Bonds (which still TODAY have a good rating). The knowledge of the national deficit and debt to the American electorate is vital, because, the falling tariff income can be hidden by the sales of US Treasury bonds and low and behold all of a sudden a national debt of $21 trillion will double in a short period of time without a return to taxes that support the USA government.
I think this scenario is very possible and probably is already underway because of Mnurchins new two-month US treasury bonds.
Placing a new Congress in January is important and will cause a second look at the USA in relation to trade. Countries do watch what occurs with the USA government and where their interests are either protected or penalized. This change is vital to allies. It is important the American people realize how important they are to these countries of people. We can't disappoint them. The world is still dangerous and the USA needs allies. We are lucky to have wonderful allies that forgive the ups and downs of elections, but, this time the country really needs to let our allies know we believe something is very array.
Americans have a lot of work to do in securing the domestic economy and placing US and State Congresses that are benevolent and prudent in their decisions when it comes to trade, supporting small business in this paradigm shift and reaching out to trading partners.

No one thinks Assange is a Russian agent. That is crazy. I suppose Assange was an USA agent when Snowden presented his material. Why would anyone believe Russia would directly deposit stolen DNC emails? War? Does anyone believe Putin is stupid enough to risk war?
USA intelligence investigation of the hacking of the DNC, DCCC and the websites of the Clinton campaign, including that of Mr. Podesta, PROVED the hackers were Russian and tied directly to Putin’s government.
Don’t try a bate and switch that treats the American people like mindless idiots ready to follow the most sensational lies. Russia hacked the USA election of 2016. I suppose Facebook’s CEO and it’s corporate lawyer gave testimony to Congress to put on a show. I supppose Facebook TODAY is knocking itself out to reassure AMERICANS they are stemming false websites for no reason at all.
Julian Assange has a website to empower THE LITTLE PEOPLE. It is a form of journalism. There is a good deal conscience that goes into releases of “Wikileaks.”

Now, some supposed representative of Assange wants the American people to believe the Russian government was not involved in hacking the 2016 elections because Putin’s signature wasn’t on the memo to Wikileaks. We weren’t born yesterday!
When Snowden downloaded information from the Carlyle Group it was the first time the American people had someone who gave a damn about them enough to risk his life. The USA government was grossly wrong and should have taken responsibility for it’s violation of the Americans’ conscience and sense of well-being. The USA government should not have estranged Snowden or sought to control Assange. That was and still is wrong.
The USA government set itself up for what would occur in subsequent leaks and interference by Russia. Snowden should have been viewed as a whistleblower and nothing more. Whistleblowers have specific rights under USA law. The USA government made an enemy of its own people in regard to Snowden and Wikileaks. That set them up to believe any false information crafted by Russia. Snowden should be home working with non-profit legal groups to facilitate law that protects American privacy. Leaving him in Russia was a huge mistake and further compromised the national security of the USA.
It is unbelievable Wikileaks, Assange and Snowden are still victims of this idiocy. Assange and Snowden should be home and working to protect citizens from their government while still ending the threat of terrorists.

The charges faced by Rep. Chris Collins are very different than those US Senator Bob Menendez faced.
US House Speaker Ryan is correct in that the US House Ethics Committee needs to examine all the facts and confer a decision regarding US Rep. Chris Collins.
US Senator Menendez was facing bribery and corruption charges in regard to a medical doctor he held as a friend for many years. The facts regarding the charges were more gray and not black and white. There was sincere doubt about the US Senator's guilt.
In this case with US Rep. Chris Collins there appears to be no sincere doubt. The facts as spelled out in the news conference are rock solid proof of phone calls linked to stock sales.
The US House Ethics Committee needs to examine the evidence and rule on these circumstances. I am fairly sure the law will win out in this case. It is hard to argue against evidence with a time stamp linked to other time-stamped transactions. I am curious if the FBI requested a FISA warrant. I think such warrants are possible even with government officials.
Also to be noted is that the FBI waited until after primary elections to bring this forward as not to unfairly overshadow the election process. I thank them for their discretion.
It doesn't matter if the Democrats would have a better outcome if this indictment was rendered sooner; the USA is within the movement of fair and accurate government with people elected that are credible and trustworthy. The agencies of the USA government should never overshadow an election AND if it does, should immediately fall into suspect by the electorate.

There is no such thing as minor issues with any voting. The elections are being determined by a very small margin and every vote is vital to the people.
What is this Green Party stuff? I understand there are some Liberals that have their differences with Democratic policies, but, there is the issue of Russia attached to their presidential hopeful Jill Stein. She was at the same table as what’s his name, the General. Mike Flynn. What was that all about? Why is Flynn a pariah and she isn’t along with her party?
I don’t like the over exposure the USA has to Russia at this point in time. I think Americans have a right to be intolerant of any political candidate and their affiliates when Russia comes into plain sight.
There is a difference between peace talks and denuclearization to achieve a place where generations can enjoy life without fear of the other and succumbing to Russian influence in American politics. If any party has the right to bring objections regarding candidates that cozy up to corruption from foreign countries such as Russia the Democrats do.
We have witnessed a victory in a presidential election influenced by Russian interference through social media, through illegitimate monies through a Russian operative to hacking into a major party’s campaign websites, including the DCCC. Jill Stein was just as cozy with Vladimir Putin at that dinner table as Mike Flynn.
I think voters need to clearly understand there is real scepticism about the Green Party’s priorities. I am worried about the country and those in leadership that view Russia as a benign influence in American democracy. The USA has a generous spirit in the world, but, allowing other countries influence in our elections and governance is wrong. It is wrong for any USA leader to cast even a shadow of doubt in loyalty to allies. Jill Stein was wrong to be in that room and at that table. There are summits to carry out that level of diplomacy.

We have witnessed a victory in a presidential election influenced by Russian interference through social media, through illegitimate monies through a Russian operative to hacking into a major party’s campaign websites, including the DCCC. Jill Stein was just as cozy with Vladimir Putin at that dinner table as Mike Flynn.
I think voters need to clearly understand there is real scepticism about the Green Party’s priorities. I am worried about the country and those in leadership that view Russia as a benign influence in American democracy. The USA has a generous spirit in the world, but, allowing other countries influence in our elections and governance is wrong. It is wrong for any USA leader to cast even a shadow of doubt in loyalty to allies. Jill Stein was wrong to be in that room and at that table. There are summits to carry out that level of diplomacy.
