There is a freezing rain alert over the land under the vortex. Freezing rain. Amazing. Not snow, not accumulation, but, freezing rain.

I am not saying freezing rain is not a serious concern, but, this is Alaska. The wind is causing more of a problem at sea than any impact over land. That vortex has loft, too. Similar to the loft one would find with a hurricane.

The water vapor entering the vortex will probably increase it's velocity, hence, winds over water.
